Post-S2 Withdrawal Smiling Friends Headcanons (Yay!) 🎉

CW: At Least about half of these I pulled from the seat of my pants for shits and giggles.

I know it’s contrary to the commentary confirming their ages but I hc Charlie as 30-35 and Alan as 42, I feel it fits their personalities moreso….plus y’all should take what the creators say with a grain of salt at this point because I sure as hell do, I really wanted a green Pim dammit! Ugh I’m getting sidetracked let’s move on-

The Enchanted Forest either takes place before Charlie, Pim and Bill vs the Alien or that episode was just a fever dream Charlie had while watching that one animated Hobbit movie just to riff on it (he’s a LOTR fan in canon too).

Alan made a lot of paperclip chains as a kid, he even wore one as a necklace for a period of time.

Charlie visited Spamtopia with his Grandmother when he was just a homunculi and being a stupid little kid he saw Oscar and blurted out that he had a giant eyeball for a head…the next time Charlie visited Spamtopia for nostalgia purposes, he got mobbed and almost got torn in half, luckily he escaped but that’s a wild ass story for another time!

Mr. Boss watches Lifetime Movies because he thinks they’re unintentional comedy gold.

Rex is Zoey’s father and they don’t get along.

Pim was homeschooled until he was 14 and his naive innocence comes from being overly sheltered, oh also he also met his UFO hunting buddies in highschool and they helped him come out of his shell and let loose.

Charlie worked at Salty’s as a teenager and got employee lunch discounts. He looked up to Simon S. Salty as something of a fatherly figure and was crushed by his death.

Marge is secretly a vampire with ridiculously strong sun immunity and she got together with Glep so they could be immortal sapphics together.

Alan and Pim are fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race and they binge watch the show together.

Professor Psychotic is aromantic/asexual and wanted to have a child without having to be in a relationship, hence why he sought out creating life.

Glep and Pim entered a talent contest and they got up on stage to perform an insanely catchy and surprisingly fitting mashup between “I’m The Scatman” and the Skibidi Toilet song with Glep providing the vocals and Pim shredding an electric guitar….the audience went nuts! Grown men were weeping at the sheer awesomeness and the crowd held up candles during the epic finale, ending with a standing ovation. Unfortunately they only ran second to first-place winner Mr Frog doing his usual shtick.

Smiling Friends at Pony Town Memories ADVENCHA!!!

Part III

An experimental bit to compensate for my always delayed screenshottter phone and archiving ponytown instances to doodles. I roleplay as Charlie and these are the highlights of my interactions with a Pim kinner @mellowvisions .

Although I haven't taken drugs, I felt like I am high in these conversations, it's just one shower thought after the other. This is the last bunch for today and it feels right it ends this way.

Hours pass and it's really coming along greatly. There's this awesome dude was nearby and like wow I can't take off my eyes on him like get this – he has more beard than any Santa Claus I've encountered in any mall. Like all natural beard. He let us touch it and it feels like an ancient artifact. It looks so cool and I'm considering about growing out a beard myself.

(Charlie and Pim having beards just makes them looking more akin to their voice actors bwhahshck. I really saw bright orange shirt with blue accent and white bandana having pony and I was like "IS THAT A DRAGONBALL CHARACTER?" I-)

Turns out the guy just got released out of prison and got the prison bar glitch 50 years ago. It is rumored around here in the local area with how bad the police are in their jobs that the prison cells are so tired of being empty, it just teleports in people, regardless of they're innocent or guilty. I don't really believe it, like I just think it's the police but it might as well happen here. I hand out the Smiling Friends building address to the guy by writing on his palm. Oh, the pen was from Pim, he always had some just in case we need to write on something and that pays off.

(I just love like trying to make sense of the show and its lore. Like as a charity that wishes to help people lift spirits, I wouldn't question like the building having a facilities to cater to those who are homeless or like neglected by society – have you noticed their building is beside an asylum. I improv that theres a public showers available and I wanna imagine they hand out free food too.

Uhh also referencing what happened to the background character in the Who Violently Murdered Simon S. Salty? ep like dude just walks out the theatre and be lookin confused when he's behind prison bars the next scene release him he did nothing wrong)

It's pretty uneventful after that. Pim and I discuss what just happened.

( I really like Charlie's front face in the Charlie Pim And Bill Vs. The Alien episode it reminds me of Captain Underpants somehow oml. Also, the disjointed phrases is mostly to blame with Ponytown chat limited-words-of-pop-up-at-time but it feels right since it emulates like Charlie and Pim sometimes cutting each other off it's brilliant)

What I heard is groundbreaking, earth shattering, reality tilting notion. I genuinely thought I'm just imagining the heart swelling chime because it feels nice but- but no Pim is actually hearing it too. Had the clients heard it as well? Is there someone tailing us behind waiting to play that chime when we'vedone our job? But no that can't be right cuz there's the constant decibel and tune and like we would have notice it and like no matter where we are, it's the same thing, as if it's not in the room for it to change its aural texture but instead like- like a sound bite overlayed on top of a show. I-I think I might actually puke from this, oh my God.

(SMILING FRIENDS IS INCOMPLETE WITHOUT EXISTENTIALISM BWHAHAHAHA. The genuine distress they're under after becoming too self aware oml. It translates to what if 4D dimension exists and we are just tv show for them kind of bit. Also I kept the misspellings and missing words cuz it adds character and funny - the sequel.)

trigger warning for anyone watching smiling friends with drug/alcohol triggers!! there’s a whole sequence in the new episode Charlie, Pim, and Bill vs. The Alien (S2E6) where Charlie and Pim are at a party and proceed to get drunk and do drugs (needles and some kinda alien acid) it was super triggering for me on my first watch and i just wanted to let everyone who is sensitive to that stuff have a heads up!! it’s a pretty lengthy sequence (about 20 seconds of the episode) and is very overstimulating.

Smiling Friends Episode Review: S2E8 - "Pim Finally Turns Green"

They ALMOST topped Red Jewel, which is crazy to me.

Rotten is such a funny character, and he's also a very sweet and sympathetic guy, and I relate a lot to his fear of death. It was handled in a very fun and sweet way and it made the episode feel a lot like a true season finale- handling death and the end very gracefully, especially surprising considering that this is the show that just has characters randomly die out of nowhere.

Everyone was also so damn nice to each other this episode and I loved it- even though Allan was a bit of a dick about the snowman, the rest of the episode had a lot of really cute moments, especially Charlie complimenting Allan over the boots.

I love the ending too- a very sweet moment until you realize the implications of it. Fascinating stuff. Is Rotten just gonna be the ocean for the rest of the series?

And also MORE ZOEY CONTENT!!! ZOEY IN A SWIMSUIT HANGING OUT WITH CHARLIE HAVING FUN!!! SHE'S NOT ACTUALLY DEAD!!!!

9/10, once again. Another classic episode and one I'll probably rewatch come Christmas- I definitely prefer it in terms of fitting the "holiday" tone compared to Charlie Dies and Doesn't Come Back.

Now that Smiling Friends's season 2 is over here's my ranking of the episodes from worst to best because why not

8: E6 Charlie, Pim, and Bill vs. The Alien - Might have been the most forgettable episode in the whole show. I can't remember any good jokes outside from the flat earth one.

7: E2 Mr. President - Surprisingly unclever for this show, they went with the low hanging fruits for all the comedy

6: E3 A Allan Adventure - it's good but i dont like how it has some long periods of time where there just arent any jokes

5: E5 Brother's Egg - i feel like they could have done more with the concept but it was still gold

4: E8 Pim Finally Turns Green - I understand rotten the snowman could be really annoying for some people but i really liked this one

3: E4 Erm, the Boss Finds Love? - it was just good, nothing to comment

2: E1 Gwimbly: Definitive Remastered Enhanced Extended Edition DX 4k (Anniversary Director's Cut) - You already know that this one is great, you've seen the impact it had on the internet
