PRIMOGENITAL | the Wisdom of Fredward Horniman
From The Gentlemen, Episode 1 - Refined Agression
Look, you guys. He’s really suffered, okay?
He’s been STABBED in the heart, he’s been London-BRIDGED(?), he’s been FUCKED in the face, DOGGED on the floor.
And it’s true. He has, despite being the firstborn son, been relegated to the truly harrowing fate of being the most embarrassingly, painfully, mediocre progeny in the family line, that his dad had no choice but to break with 600yrs of tradition and cut him out of the will, passing everything to younger, much cooler more responsible brother, Edwina “Eddie” Horniman. And isn’t not having a bullshit title, nor the crushing debt of his father’s failed above-board business, nor having to deal with the surprise! extensive, underground potfarm on the estate grounds and all the accompanying stress and criminal hijinx with it— well, isn’t it just the most traumatic thing you can imagine???????
Now all Freddy gets to do is:
live in historic mansion with way-too-cool-to-be-caught-dead-with-him, Inexplicable-Stunt-Driver-Wife Tamasina (known by abs legendary nickname of Wham Tam) who also, when asked by Freddy in a moment of desperation if she thinks he’s a cock, rightly points out, “all men are cocks, Freddy”
pal around in chicken costume and steal cars with chill asf brother that he only occasionally wants dead, Steady Eddie who’s legit so good at everything that Freddy doesn’t have to be good at anything
go “fishing” aka chuck live grenades into lake full of salmon, a method worthy of Park-Tuna-Assassin Ramon Arellano Félix and invent Crack!Weed another Ramon-coded pasttime with bestie-botanist and lover of all things hydroponic, hallucinogenic, and Special Sauce, Jimmy Chang …. AND
Skeet shoot out in picturesque estate garden with creature-whisperer, actual live angel, and all around Dilf-of-the-manor, Geoff
Oh, the horror.
No, but honestly, I cannot summon from memory a single character I have so biblically despised on first watch, only to full 180, violently swing in the opposite direction to straight glee/appreciation for the comedic marvel that is Mr. (not!)Duke-SirFancyPants-RoyalDumpsterFire-LordSomethingErOther, the one, the only, Frederick “Fredward” Horniman aka thisprince👇
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, talk about refined aggression? I had some refined ass aggression toward ole Fred, here. Like when I tell you I hated this “man,” I h a t e d this man.
All I could think the whole time, on first watch was, wowowow, y’know what’s worse than a useless, entitled, infantile, drug-addled, narcissistic man-fetus …?
A loud useless, entitled, infantile, drug-addled, narcissistic man-fetus.
Tumblr media
My mans, Eddie is wayyy too generous here☝️and every other time he bails Freddy out of whatever pigshit he manages to shove his full face into bc I’d be throwing more than paper. That antique furniture would regrettably be sailing thru the air, straight at that fat melon of this nepo-baby dressed in DivineRightofKings drag, if only to get a precious few fucking seconds of silence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like the only one reacting appropriately here is Charly☝️who Freddy snarkily calls Lady Macbeth with a mix of love and contempt only a sibling can display which like, not the best? insult? To be called one of the most groundbreaking female characters of all time? But our boy is nothing if not scholarly, right. So im sure he super paid attention when the class was reading Macbeth
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, yeah. He’s basically the worst. There’s a metric fuck ton of evidence to support that. AND YET, this mf isn’t completely useless bc after my 2nd and 3rd rewatch specifically witnessing the genius that is his alter ego, plastic Russian gangster, Anatoly Givenchy Romanov who laavs orange cars and Siberian tigers let me do tell you, against my better judgment, I found myself growing to love and adore the (2nd) funniest character in an already hilarious show (crown goes to beautiful tropical fish Jimmy bc mans always proper vibin’)
And now, when I watch this scene, instead of berserker levels of enraged, I’m struck with a disorienting combo of secondhand cringe + juvenile glee??? Like instead of wanting to aggravated manslaughter my own tv, I’m just “awww, Fredward. What a little nothing you are. Look how silly you look in your lil boarding school jumper.” And it feels good(?) but mostly bad. And then I do this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like the true American scum that I am.
taglist: @drabbles-mc @when-did-this-become-difficult @narcolini, @ladygoatee ⇝ tagged bc even tho you have zero intention of watching, you were diligently taking notes

I have been writing fanfiction since 2016, and have been on tumblr a little longer than that (and have been roleplaying for even longer, just not on tumblr). Primarily, let's face it, I write smut. But that doesn't mean it's all I can write. I do enjoy the darker side of things, so dark!fics are not off limits. If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me an ask.

(!) I do not write for actors, I write for the characters they portray. (!) I will not take requests from underage people. (!) I will not write about underage people.

Hey @lightanight , thank you for this tag! Die wilden Hühner are also one of my favorites but i can not deceide which one... I love taggames like this. But i think i have to go have a good look at my book shelf for this one (sorry this took so long):
1. Scorpio Race by Maggie Stiefvater. This is one of the first books that comes to mind. Just everything about it but also I am pretty sure that's the first book M recommended to me and it's now a comfort book.
2. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Do I have to say more? I read this book on a vacation with my Family when I was around 15 in one night. It was the first book i read in one night and it started something.
3. lucas by kevin brooks. I can not really remember what happend but it had something to do with being an outsider and the ocean. I read this book exactly once but I still remember it's name.
4. About a Girl by Joanne Horniman. Okay listen. I got this book pretty blindly at the library in i think 2013 or so and it was the first book with lesbian representation i ever read. I think it took place in australia. Anyway. That left an impression for sure.
5. Das Glückskind by Karla Schneider. This one is german and was a present from a good (childhood)friend that i read literally years later. I'd say it's a childrens book but it gets very strange. I still read it sometimes because it still touches me. I can not explain how though.
6. Watch over me by Nina LaCour. Actually everything by Nina LaCour but this one espescially. Fighting your Ghosts while fighting Ghosts. Or becoming friends with them. Also heavy themes but lightly written. If you want to read anything from this list start here.
7. Queen Geeks by Jen Wilde. Bisexual representation that actually does not suck. That's it but thats pretty sicnificant for me personally.
8. Aristotle and Dante discover the Secrets of the universe by . This one is also talked about a lot. For good reasons in my opinion. One of the first books I read when questioning my own sexuality and yeah. Very comforting. Also super interessting themes i did not see explored in young adult books like this.
9. Brombeer mit Schlag by Michael Schmid. This one is also german (Well the author is austrian to be correct) and a bit weird. It's about domestic violence (but still writen for children) and also the first book i ever read with a soft boy and a tough girl. Listen i just looked it up and apparently this book came Out in 2005. This one obviously left an impression if i still remember it nearly 20 years later.
10. Ash by Malinda Lo. Another recommendation. I then read everything else from Malinda Lo after that.
11. Charlie + Leo & Ohrensausen by Jochen Till. Now that i started thinking i am remebering so many books that left an impression. Charlie + Leo is another german book with a tough girl and a soft boy (they are also both pretty weird). But that did not hold up as well as: Ohrensausen. This one got Punkrock. And i still read it when I am feeling low. I feel like whenever i am doing these i learn something new about myself. I fear you will also learn a lot about me but i guess that's the point. Did you know i love queer books? Well now you do.
Well i am also tagging some of you but no pressure if you don't want to:
@patronsaintofvastnpreciouslosers @schwarzebrandung @solarwindscosplay @thesnowqueen
@dreamyghostie tysm for tagging me!
rules: list ten books that have stayed with you in some way. don't take but a few minutes, and don't think too hard - they don't have to be the "right" or "great" works, just ones that have touched you
1. Heaven by Christoph Marzi
2. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
3. Vierzehn by Tamara Bach
4. Every Me Every You by David Levithan
5. Watership Down by Richard Adams
6. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
7. Isola by Isabel Abedi
8. Die Wilden Hühner und das Glück der Erde by Cornelia Funke
9. Lockwood and Co by Jonathan Stroud
10. The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall
this was surprisingly easy but i definitely forgot some
tagging @treedoom @madamehelium @percy-ils @jupitersthirdstar @maplequinn only if u want to do it :))

Rosy Lee
Tumblr media
WORDS BY NIKKI SPENCER; PHOTO BY LIMA CHARLIE
Daniel Grey from Lee is such a fan of tea that he started creating his own blends. His Lewisham Tea Company teas are now served at cafes and bars across the borough, and are also available online.
When Daniel decided to launch his own organic tea company earlier this year there was only one name he wanted to give it, he says when we meet for a cuppa at Middleton Deli on Loampit Hill, the first cafe locally to sell his teas.
“I was born at Lewisham Hospital and the area has always felt like home,” he says. “We moved to Dartford when I was three but we were back here all the time to see my grandparents, and stayed at weekends and in the holidays. After university I moved here to live with them, and then more recently I got a flat just down the road.”
While researching tea in the local area, a Google search unexpectedly led him to the Horniman Museum in Forest Hill.
“I used to go there all the time as a kid with my parents and grandparents but I didn’t realise until then that Frederick John Horniman, who set it up, was a Victorian tea trader. With all that history to draw on, the name made even more sense,” he explains.
Daniel and his family have always been big tea drinkers.
“When I was growing up, the moment anyone walked in, the kettle would go on and things would always be talked about over a cup of tea”, he says, although it was only more recently that he started drinking herbal over traditional tea.
“Last year I decided to give up alcohol for a while and get fit. I’d go to the gym and want something to drink afterwards.
“It was my younger brother who first encouraged me to try herbal teas and green teas and I became really interested in their health properties.
“I started ordering and sampling all sorts of different teas from Sri Lanka and Singapore and wanted to learn more.
“It began as a passion project but quite soon I realised that I wanted to create my own tea and launch it as a business.”
Daniel found a Sri Lankan family company in Kent who helped him create his first six blends, including black, green, herbal and chai teas, and he now has further varieties in the pipeline.
“They source all the ingredients from around the world and then they are blended on site,” he says. “It’s all about the taste but it’s also about how the teas can make you feel good.
“We have a beautiful pink Bora Bora berry tea, which is packed with vitamin C and also helps relieve stress, while our Vanilla Rooibos tea is caffeine-free, high in natural antioxidants and is also good for the metabolism.”
Daniel used his savings to launch the company and has done everything he possibly can himself.
“I have a background in web design, so I built the company website myself, and friends locally have been great about helping with things like photography.
“Another friend who is a designer helped me with the packaging, which is eco-friendly and biodegradable”, he adds.
Selling his tea however has been a new experience for him.
“I spend all my days working at a computer, so going into places and saying, ‘Do you want to buy my tea?’ has been pretty daunting”, he admits, “although it is getting easier as more places take it.
“Getting Middleton to stock it early on was amazing. I emailed them and they were so open to the idea. A lot of their products are locally sourced and their customers are very supportive of that.
“I find that people who live in Lewisham do like to buy things that are local.”
Other stockists now include the Fox and Firkin in Ladywell and Drink at Bob’s in Hither Green, both of whom are experimenting with using the tea in cocktails too.
The teas are also for sale online and they have customers from as far afield as Wales.
“As we are a new business it’s all about word of mouth,” Daniel says. “One of my friends told her mum and we post supplies of our mint tea out to her regularly just outside Cardiff. And the awesome thing is she lives on Peppermint Street!”
Daniel’s teas are also proving popular as house-warming presents.
“If someone is moving into a flat or house locally it’s a nice, inexpensive gift. I think they will be popular at Christmas too.”
One of Daniel’s earliest customers was his late grandfather, Roy.
“Grandad was a staunch PG Tips man but I won him over with my apple and ginger tea.
“Our teabags have a lot more tea in them than everyday bags, so we encourage people to use their bags twice as the second cup is just as good. Grandad would always have a cup of apple and ginger last thing at night and then use the bag again in the morning. He swore by it.”
Daniel still works nine till five for an online fashion company, so he is running the business during the evenings and weekends.
“I’m 33 and lots of people my age are getting into side hustles and following their passion, which I think is great. One day it would be nice to just concentrate on tea but for now it’s fun doing both.”
So has he swapped alcohol for tea permanently?
“I have started drinking again occasionally but I’ve actually rather lost the taste for it”, he says. “I’ll have a cup of Lewisham tea over a beer most evenings.”

obligatory daemon!au time
I'll leave the list and reasonings under the cut
Eddie - Gyrfalcon
They're closely tied with nobility, really good hunters, no nonesense birds, they're very efficient, independent and a tad teritorial.
Susie - Eurasian Lynx
Freaking gorgeous and very dangerous, I don't need to say more but I will, they're resourceful hunters and resilient, kind of loners.
Freddy - Hawk headed Parrot
Funny little guys, they're social and like attention, very vocal and expressive, a little scatterbrained.
Sabrina - Island Fox
She's a sly fox and there's that. They tend to live in tight-knit families, adaptable, confident and cunning.
Bobby - Mandrill
They're hierarchical and cliquish, also very bold and self-serving.
Johnston - Waterbuck
Proud and competitive but cautious. Elegant little fucks.
Tamsin - Jackson's Hornibill
Social and bold, very charming, also a little dramatic.
Jimmy - Big eared Bat
I just thought it was cute. Go with the flow, calm and friendly.
Rosanne - Rufous Hummingbird
Pretty and dainty and fit for a princess but confident, proud and opportunistic.
Jack - dalmatian
Loyal, energetic and impulsive. Look mean but are soft. (I almost gave him a boxer for the joke)
Charlie - Hercules Moth
I don't know much but the vibes I get are calm and gentle, like they'd give good advice lol.
Geoff - Crow
Smart, loyal and cooperative.

Hi Ms. Navy! Just watched The Gentlemen (the movie) and can totally see why you chose Ray to be HYT Bucky’s right hand man. He fits the role perfectly! I didn’t know that he had a British accent until I just watched, so now when I read his dialogue I will have to read accordingly! Now I’m watching Triple Frontier 🤭
Sidenote: I was very excited to see Theo James/Eddie Horniman potentially spark your muse (big fan of his face and his role in “The Gentlemen” the show)
Nonnie, I'm so glad you watched The Gentlemen! I'm eager to write Raymond with his own reader, but was so glad I could fit him in HYT. Triple Frontier isn't the happiest movie, but has lots of eye candy.
Tumblr media
I'm glad The Gentlemen was renewed for another season so we can see more of Eddie (and I really hope Raymond makes an appearance).
Tumblr media
My Diamonds and Steel AU that's being introduced next month may have face claims at the very least for Charlie Hunnam and Theo James. And you lovelies are always welcome to throw fuel on the fire for their characters.
Love and thanks! ❤️
