CALLING ALL SOLDIERS!!
New Enemy Series Server!!!
The old one had gotten deleted for unknown reasons, so I and a few others created another safer and friendlier server for the enemy fandom!
It's non-discriminatory and we of course support systems here as well! We have a category dedicated to systems even.
You can also talk here spoiler free! We have designated channels for spoilers and certain books, you can talk ab any of your hcs or thoughts here!
We encourage anyone to join, even if you haven't read the series and you'd like to. We host reading nights as well as gaming and movie events! I'm the owner of the server (toramoonx), so if you have any questions you may ask me or anyone else on the staff team!
Can't wait to see y'all there.

Tris is only about 16 when she decides the best thing she can do with her time is die the hero’s death. . . For some reason
Tobias (Four) is only 18 when he’s instructed to teach the new 16 year old members of Dauntless (and he, somehow, still commands all of their respect)
The kids from Micheal Grant’s “Gone” series are 15 at most, and somehow build a functioning society
Ruby from The Darkest Minds is 16 when she escapes her camp and goes on the run
To my memory, the kids in Charlie Higson’s zombie books are all about 15-18, and the majority of them survive the beginning of the series despite being in zombie London
Thomas is 16 in The Maze Runner, the other kids also range from about 14-18(?) and they use their free time to topple the government and fight large pharmaceutical companies
I’m just saying, I’m not sure the average teenager (which is what all these protagonists are meant to represent) would be capable of this
the strangest part of YA books stipulating the ages of their protagonists is like,,,,, eventually, you get to that age, and you reread the books, and you wonder at how any of these characters survived for so long when the average 15-18 year old can barely organise and complete a group project, let alone topple governments
#and before people come at me#I know that in some *very particular and drastic situations* teenagers have managed this irl#HOWEVER#you have failed to consider#that kids are fuckin dumb#real. fuckin. dumb#Four has this whole mysterious badass auto going on with him#but like? he’s my age??#and thankfully his book gives us a look at his POV#and generally how he’s an anxious dork#but REGARDLESS#that is a sixthformer teaching a bunch of year elevens to throw knives n shit#who does that#these books all would’ve worked just as well if the characters were in their 20s#the only series that wouldn’t is the hunger games#because they were all young on purpose#and Suzanna Collins actually knew what she was fuckin doing#(I might’ve gotten her name slightly wrong I’m sorry)#spoilers#so many spoilers#but also these franchises released five years ago at a minimum#so tbh if you’ve been spoiled that sounds like a you problem#divergent#gone michael grant#the darkest minds#charlie higson#those charlie higson zombie books that i forget the name of#the maze runner#wright writes

Review: The End by Charlie Higson
SPOILERS
This was such an amazing series and such a great book. It was everything I wanted the finale to be.
We've been with these characters for 7 books now. Since it's a zombie apocalypse series, characters dropped like flies, but everyone who I wanted to live did!
I never had a single drop of sympathy for David, the self-proclaimed "King of London". He was a bully, selfish and power hungry. His impulsive actions, especially in this book, got so many children killed. His death was justified and satisfying to read, honestly.
I was so happy when both Blue and Maxie made it. I was so sure both or one of them were going to die, but they were victors in the final battle.
What made the ending perfect was Sam and Ella being reunited after so long apart. Those little kids deserve the world and I love them.

Never Say Die by Anthony Horowitz
Challenge #48 ~ "A book that is part of a series of 5 books or more."
★ ★ ★ ★ ★
My opinion in three sentences:
You would think that eleven books into a spy series, something would get old, but not with Alex Rider! Horowitz didn't fail to disappoint with great plot development, addictive writing and a whole host of twists and turns to produce a real page-turner. Plus, there was high emotional investment for reasons I won't reveal due to great spoilers, but Horowitz made sure not to exploit this in vain as well!
(Without spoiling anything) the best bit:
Never Say Die was a fresh read, despite being a huge fan of Horowitz's novel and well-versed in the rest of the series. Horowitz still managed to keep the book alive with twists, turns and secrets, hooking the reader in and keeping them that way whether a veteran Rider fan or a newbie that's just stumbled upon the series.
A warning for the book:
The only real warning I can issue is that you've bound to have heard many times in relation to the series - the continuity timewise isn't necessarily that great. In Alex's universe, less than a year ago we had the Gameboy as the height of technology, but now iPhones are a dime a dozen? So the series is the victim of real life passing faster than the timeline unravels - there could sure be bigger issues a series has...
Recommended for fans of:
- Silverfin by Charlie Higson - Out of Sight, Out of Mind by Ally Carter - Relentless by Tera Lynn Childs & Tracey Deebs

‘Broadchurch’ Season 3 Pre-Preview: A Tease for the Impatient (and Spoiler-Averse)
Olivia Colman and David Tennant in Season 3 of Broadchurch. (Photo: ITV/BBC America)
American fans of Broadchurch, the great British whodunit starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman as detectives Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller, are still awaiting word on when the third and final season will hit BBC America in 2017. Meanwhile, the series finale is set to air in the UK on April 17.
You may be tempted to use your own sleuthing skills to get a hint of what’s in store for us — just a little tease greater than the 11-second promo BBC America released back in December. But a word from experience: DON’T. You could find yourself reading a perfectly lovely, vague article from a British paper about a premiere screening that abruptly inserts paparazzi photos of a cast member filming what anyone would consider a HUGE SPOILER from later in the run.
So you don’t suffer the same fate we did (gasping and shouting before aborting the mission), here’s what we can safely preview for you, to tide you over.
youtube
The Plot: The series picks up three years after the events of the Season 2 finale, as Hardy and Miller begin work on a new case: We learn in the opening scene, above, that a woman named Trish (Happy Valley‘s Julie Hesmondhalgh) has been sexually assaulted. She is unable to identify her attacker. Watch the full trailer below.
youtube
Creator Chris Chibnall, who once again penned all eight episodes of the season, had the counsel of The Shores (Dorset’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre) and Dorset Rape Crisis throughout the writing process. For Tennant, it’s a return to the serious subject matter of Netflix’s Jessica Jones, in which his character, Kilgrave, had used mind control to force Krysten Ritter’s titular heroine into a sexual relationship.
“The two characters are obviously coming from very different standpoints,” Tennant told Yahoo TV while filming Broadchurch last summer. “So far Hardy is trying to come to terms with the psychology of someone who would commit a crime like that; Kilgrave can’t really understand what he’s done wrong. I think it’s interesting that this is an area that we want to tell stories about at the moment. I think it’s something that society is having a war with itself about. As a society, we are being a bit more honest about how we’ve not really dealt with these issues in the past and how a bit of redressing needs to be done in terms of how we deal with gender politics and sexual politics as well. I think Jessica Jones inspired some very interesting arguments and debates, and I hope that Broadchurch will do the same, but from a very different type of storytelling, I think.”
youtube
The Characters: There will be familiar faces, including Beth and Mark Latimer (Jodie Whittaker and Andrew Buchan), Vicar Paul Coates (Arthur Darvill), newspaper editor Maggie Radcliffe (Carolyn Pickles), and Ellis son Tom (Adam Wilson). “There is a bold new crime story which forces us to ask whether the town has a crack running through it caused by Danny Latimer’s death; is this new crime somehow the long-term legacy of that dark moment?” executive producer Jane Featherstone says in a UK press kit. “Our central characters must contend with this possibility as they battle to make hope, friendship and love triumph over fear and suspicion, as a host of new suspects present themselves.”
Yes, as Colman jokes in the set visit above, “It turns out there are people in this town that we haven’t before.” That includes Sir Lenny Henry’s Ed, the owner of the farm shop where Hesmondhalgh’s Trish works. (Sarah Parish, Georgina Campbell, Charlie Higson, and Mark Bazeley also co-star.)
Note: Don’t even try to pump Tennant for a clue about the big reveal. Absolute Radio already tried to have Uri Geller read his mind remotely from Israel during The Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show.
youtube
Hardy’s Health: Three years after his heart surgery, there’s (probably) no need to worry. “The ticker’s tickin’ away. The pacemaker’s working,” Tennant says in the interview below. “There’s a stressful eight weeks ahead of him, you’ll have to see.”
youtube
Seasons 1 and 2 of Broadchurch are streaming on Netflix. Season 3 will premiere on BBC America later in 2017.

The Enemy (#1) by Charlie Higson: Book Review
Spoilers!
This book follows a group of teenagers and young children during a zombie apocalypse, where all the adult are diseased and zombie-like in London, England. There are two groups of kids taking shelter in grocery stores, Waitrose and Morrisons.
One day, during a a time that the kids are on the brink of disaster, a boy shows up, claiming that he and a group of kids are living at Buckingham palace. They make their way across the city in the hopes for a new life.
David (the leader of the palace kids) was power hungry and terrifying. He definitely wanted to be the King of London, and I never liked him from the start.
I thought it was really interesting to see Small Sam’s journey across London. He’s one tough little nine-year-old and I’m routing for him.
Each death was heart-wrenching and sad, especially because the reader knows each kid that dies, making it even worse when they die. One day I as reading at work on my break and almost started crying over a character death in front of my coworkers.
The ending verdict: The kids have left the palace, Small Sam is at the tower of London and I really want book 2!

Charlie Higson left everyone’s fate ambiguous at the end of season 1 (on the off-chance of a season 2) which I’m taking as license to interpret as everyone is not, in fact, permanently dead. Picks up almost immediately after Robert destroys the Heart, and take as canon for this blog.
