Where does the nickname Il Predestinato come from? (aka no wonder young Charles was called LeDevil 😭)

FG: Charles himself talks about it in interviews – “What’s your nickname?” “Il predestinato” – How did that come about? CV: It became popular when he won in Monza. I'd already used it in Spa for his first win, but I had been using it since he was driving for Alfa Romeo. It all originates from a meet-up when Charles was maybe 15 years old. [Then Ferrari sporting director] Massimo Rivola decided he should attend a communication/PR course, and brought him to Sky [Italy’s offices]. FG: To learn how to interact with the media? CV: Yeah, to take some sort of class. There was a meeting, then we had a mock-press conference where i asked: “Today you start from pole and your teammate is fighting for the title, what are you going to do?” “Well, I drive to win so i’ll try and win my own race.” Which is a perfect answer for us [Sky journalists] because we speak with Charles coutless times, but a less-than-perfect answer for you [the general public] because it inevitably stirs up controversy, like “he won’t help his teammate...” So, the answer [he should have given] is: “I drive to win, but if i need to help my teammate or the team asks me to do something i’ll obviously work with the team”. This is a level-headed, less exciting answer for sure, but one that doesn’t cause any problems. Then this kid [Charles] follows me outside and tells me: “It was the question that was wrong. It’s never going to happen that we’ll manage to be fighting for the championship and it’s my teammate fighting for it instead of me.”
