you would think that the Watcher and the Grieving Mother would, at the very least, have some sort of silent solidarity between them
unfortunately, you would be wrong because the more the Grieving Mother starts to open up again her past, the more the Watcher becomes passive aggressive towards her. not that they’d ever outright turn on one of their traveling companions, but they’re kinda upset about the Grieving Mother intentionally blocking off her memory so she wouldn’t remember what happened at the Birthing Bell.
(for ending states, the Watcher refuses to wipe the Grieving Mother’s memory, leading her to become a midwife in Dyrford. it settles something deep within them to know she’s allowed herself to grow and become something better)
also the ending states for the rest of the companions:
Pallagina: disobeys her orders. the Watcher doesn’t much care about governments, and advises to do what she thinks is best for both the Vailian Republics and the Dyrwood
Hiravias: though the Watcher is deeply connected to Galawain and the hunt as a ranger and druid, she’s never turned to Galawain the Hunter. Rymyrgand had long claimed her soul, and sometimes the gods do strange things. Besides, Wael has his part to play in the world and in the cycle of life and death.
Eder: settled in Dyrford and joins the Night Market. Kenna finds this particularly amusing, because her two favorite companions, Aloth and Eder, both joined secret organizations dedicated to a god. she visits frequently, and even donates a bit of money to the Night Market
Aloth: rejoins the Leaden Key and becomes their grandmaster. Kenna allows Leaden Key activity at Caed Nua, though otherwise she has no interest in the organization. the Watcher doesn’t mind their continued existence, since Thaos is gone and someone she trusts is at their head
Kana Rua: returns to Rauatai and inspires a new growth and change. however, once the process is well under way and he feels he is no longer needed to continue the push forward, he leaves in search of new knowledge
Durance: the Watcher wanted nothing to do with him, and Kenna held a deep dislike of him, but was able to deal with his presence during their travels. Kenna was unable to convince him of Magran’s active role in the conspiracy, and thus his faith in her remained unshaken. his death, and the events surrounding it, bring Kenna little sadness, but they also don’t bring her any comfort
Sagani: there is a deep sense of understanding that settles over the Watcher when they learn of Sagani’s disappearance. should they return to The White That Wends, that would likely be their fate. they only hope that Berath be kind to her when she reaches the Wheel
Zahua: creates his own tribe and shares his knowledge. the Watcher feels something like satisfaction. knowledge is to be shared, after all
Devil of Caroc: Kenna wonders if the Watcher will one day meet an end such as this ---- at peace with themself and the world around them. perhaps, finally, they can rest in quiet solitude
Maneha: the Watcher carries a heavy weight knowing of their past lives, and sometimes things are meant to be forgotten.

I’ve gone through so many names for my main Pillars of Eternity Watcher that at this point any name feels kinda...weird, so I think I’m just gonna stick with “the Watcher”
Anyway, here’s a bit about them:
-- a Glamfellen (pale elf) from the northern coast of The White That Wends -- due to relatively close proximity and general contact, their clan has developed some distinct and unique characteristics -- those being: a bit shorter and stockier than normal, sharp pointed teeth, and faint patterning on their bodies -- very few have the semi-webbed hands and feet that aumaua do -- they do retain quite a bit of their Glamfellen nature -- most importantly: their skin is extremely pale, translucent and extremely cold to the touch, white or near-white hair -- and, of course, the elven pointed ears -- the Watcher themself doesn’t really remember what their name was before their soul was Awakened. Much of their past is a mystery even to them, and perhaps it should stay that way -- their class is...weird, to say the least. They trained to be a ranger from a very young age, picking a stoat as their companion. They were later taught about druidry from an orlan from Eir Glanfath -- lastly are their cipher abilities. most of them were self taught, but they did pick up much from meeting others during their wandering through the Deadfire Archipelago -- you would think that given their strong connection to nature that they would look to Galawain the Hunter. you would be wrong, as they follow Rymrgand and Berath as Rikuhu -- doesn’t like speaking overly much, and when the situation requires it, says only what is necessary -- tends towards kindness, tempered with a healthy dose of bluntness, in alignment, somewhere around the lawful neutral or true neutral -- extremely curious about the Engwithans, especially due to their soul having been one -- did genuinely love Iovara, but denied those feeling to Thaos to protect herself from being sent to the Inquisition and tortured. in the end, however, they did turn Iovara over to the Leaden Key, whereupon she was tortured and eventually killed for heresy -- if there’s one person the Watcher hates above all else, it’s Thaos. however, realizes how important any information they could get from him made them take his soul into theirs. they also took Maerwald, strengthening their own soul with others -- is technically the official Lady of Caed Nua, but they had no interest in the title or the responsibilities and so their companion Kenna took them up
And then Kenna! -- a ranger, her companion is a wolf named Ea -- from the Deadfire proper, and an experienced sailor -- ironically, she’s a fire godlike -- (has intentionally fallen into the water just to see what would happen to her fire) -- most people assume Kenna is the Watcher, and she while she doesn’t do anything to encourage it, she doesn’t dissuade them either
