In the main game and DLC, who would say is your favorite to write for, and who would be the most worrying yandere?
In regards to your first question, I don’t think I can give a proper answer at this time. I’ve only written for a handful of the main game’s bosses and none of the DLC’s, so I can’t say exactly who my favourite out of all of them is as I haven’t written properly for everyone yet. However, I can tell you who my favourites are of the ones I have written for, as well as who I suspect I’ll enjoy writing for.
Of the ones I’ve written for, I’d have to say my favourites are the Devil, Grim, and the Root Pack. If I had to choose just one, though, it’d probably be the Root Pack. They’re just such a charming trio, and the way their personalities mix and clash, especially when they’re yanderes, is really fun to write about.
As for the ones I haven’t written for yet, I have a feeling I’m going to enjoy writing for Bon Bon, Djimmi, Rumor, Samuel, and Esther. One of my favourite tropes in yandere fanfiction is power imbalance, and since each of these five hold a significant amount of power (Bon Bon and Rumor are royalty, Djimmi is an all-powerful genie, Samuel is the head of a prominent crime syndicate, and Esther is the highest-ranking officer in her department), I think writing for them with a darling who’s just an average person would be a real treat.
As for your second question, I think there’s several Cuphead characters who could take the title of “most worrying yandere”, and those are Cagney, Bon Bon, and the Devil. The three of them seem like they’d be the most willing to resort to violence when faced with any obstacles, and that could spell trouble for both their darlings and the people around them.
Cagney’s moral compass is practically nonexistent, which, when combined with his jealousy and selfish personality, would make him quite the threat. He’d probably be the first to snap and resort to violence and/or kidnapping when faced with any threats to his relationship with his darling.
Bon Bon, I would say, is very similar to Cagney in terms of personality, though for different reasons. Given her royal upbringing, she was likely very spoiled when she was younger and thus, has come to expect to get whatever she wants, whenever she wants it. So, if someone tried to take away or threaten what she wants (i.e. her darling), I imagine she would resort to violence very quickly. In fact, I think she would eventually resort to executing people (provided they’re her subjects) who try to get between her and her darling. It would certainly be an effective warning towards anyone who thinks of doing the same, and she could also frame it as a punishment for “treason” should people start accusing her of being tyrannical.
Lastly, the Devil being a contender for the “most worrying yandere” is a no-brainer. He’s selfish, arrogant, possessive, and so taken with the idea of his darling belonging solely to him, it’s hard to imagine him not being dangerous. Anyone who opposes him or threatens his relationship will almost surely be sent to Hell, and there’s very little his darling can do to get him to change his mind. So, for these reasons, I think the Devil takes the cake in this scenario.
On a final note, I think you could also make an argument for Samuel being one of the top “worrying yanderes”, but that’s debatable. While he does appear to be a ruthless and calculating criminal, as you’d expect him to be, he also seems like he can be mellow and even jovial at times, specifically because of that final picture in the epilogue. Of course, this could very well be a persona he puts on when out in public, but I like to think there’s a part of him that can be gentle and understanding, especially towards his darling (sort of like Vito from The Godfather).

Last night I dreamt I was a character on the upcoming Cuphead DLC. I was a street artist who was friends with several characters and a couple of new ones. Like a unicorn character who claimed to have once been the lover of Phear Lap before his death, Cagney Carnation who started a new business as a seller of natural remedies and I would visit him a lot because I was clumsy. Also I was best friends with Hilda Berg and we would hang out under the stars and discuss astrology and the possibilities of the universe.
So I knew I wasn’t supposed to be there but had no clue how to return home. Somehow I got the bright idea of destroying all of my possessions in a fire would create a portal back home. I tossed everything I could carry into my living room, poured my one container of gasoline on it, and tossed a lit match onto the pile. Just as soon as I tossed the match there was a knock on my door. I didn’t want anyone to see what I’m doing so I go to talk with them outside.
It was Cagney. I forgot he was coming over to surprise me with something, but him just being there was surprise enough. Then I noticed he wasn’t alone. Almost everyone around the isles was there; Hilda, Elder Kettle, Cuphead and Mugman, Chef Saltbaker, Beppi, Werner, the unicorn whom I don’t remember the name of, etc. They all sang in chorus ‘Happy Birthday’
The date had slipped my mind. I realize I had been too hasty but it was too late to put out the fire. It spread across the living room and was consuming the entire house. I had to evacuate everyone. Beppi and Werner stepped through and tried to extinguish the flames but their efforts did little. We could only watch my house burn to the ground before the firetruck could arrive. A portal had opened up as the flames died but by then I couldn’t just leave my friends to clean up the disaster I caused, and had to live with Hilda for a while.

Heyo guess who is procrastinating on doing work and wants to match the South Park characters with their respective Cuphead characters?? me!
***Note! I’m also basing this also off of the characters music as well! These are all opinion based and feel free to discuss things with me because I do NOT wanna do my work rn.
Stan: Wally Warbler; the music is really what made me choose this character for Stan. Aviary Action is so frustrating to listen to when you’re fighting this boss, because it’s so catchy and good but it mocks you at the same time. Stan, when trying to do anything, can often come out on top when he doesn’t mean to sometimes (Guitar Hero anybody?) and the tone of the song fits his personality really well: fast paced, frustrating, but good.
Kyle: Sally Stageplay; the fight is literally on a stage as Sally is performing, which, in my opinion, is the most organized a fight could get. Kyle is often organized and willing to put things into action, and the tempo in Dramatic Fanatic is pretty steady throughout, making it a good fit for Kyle’s structured personality. The tap dancing in the song reminds me of Kyle always trying to get people to act instead of passively standing by.
Kenny: King Dice; although Kenny has been more of a minor character lately in the show and King Dice is a major part of the game, the theme song of King Dice is what made me choose this. I think more about Kenny as Mysterion when I hear the song, the lyrics warning the main characters to “not mess with him” and to “bring him those contracts”. Kenny is often requesting things from the other characters, often pleading with Cartman when he’s Mysterion to be reasonable.
Cartman: Werner Warman; chaotic and always causing destruction. Werner Warman is also crafty, as seen by his machine he uses in the fight. Cartman is often crafty when he wants to be. Also, Murine Corps is a fucking bop and super mischievous sounding, much like Cartman’s personality. It’s very chaotic and all over the place as well.
Craig: Cagney Carnation; Floral Fury is such a fucking BOP and it’s so quick. Craig is often quick to react and will flip people off without even thinking. In this fight, you have to be quick thinking and ready to move whenever a new attack is thrown at you. However, the song is well composed and flows really well, much like Craig when it comes to acting out.
Token: Djimmi the Great; Pyramid Peril is such a smooth song and it’s got such a smooth jazz feel to it and I feel it fits Token really well. Djimmi is also really intelligent, using his powers to fit Cuphead as, well, Cuphead! Token is smart, but can also get frustrated. There are parts in this song where the tempo speeds up and it fits his frustration because Token very rarely ever gets super angry.
Tweek: Baronness Von Bon Bon; the background and elements of this fight are so distracting that it’s sometimes hard to focus on what’s going on in the fight. Sugarland Shimmy is also all over the place when it comes to instruments and rhythms, much like Tweek is on a daily basis. Tweek is also an avid coffee drinker, and you know what people will put in coffee sometimes? Sugar!
Jimmy: Grim Matchstick; when you lose to him, he has a stutter. Jimmy, clearly, also stutters. Fiery Frolic is also very silly in my opinion and upbeat, which matches Jimmy’s comedic personality.
Butters: Elder Kettle; very gentle and wanting to help in anyway possible. Elder Kettle’s theme just screams Butters to me as well. It’s sweet and mellow and calming, just like Butters tries to be for everyone!
Clyde: Beppi the Clown; Clyde can be a total crybaby, but so can Beppi the Clown! He literally starts crying as he enters his final phase, and even screeches after you defeat his first phase. Carnival Kerfuffle is also a total bop, often up and down in tempo, much like Clyde can be emotionally. The overall tone is kind of a bummer as well, and Clyde is often crying or upset over something.
Wendy: Hildaberg; Wendy is smart and uses her surroundings to her advantage. When fighting Hildaberg, she changes into various constellations, using their forms to fight you in a unique way. Threatenin’ Zeppelin is also a total bop and very up and down, just like Wendy can be. Also, Hildaberg is a total badass, like Wendy. Need I remind you she beat the shit out of Cartman?
Timmy: Dr. Khal’s Robot; again, I’m picking this mainly from the song. Junkyard Jive has an innocent tone to it, much like Timmy is. However, this is a fucking menacing robot! Timmy isn’t as innocent as he is made out to be (remember: he joined a gang with Jimmy!!). Timmy is also physically and mentally handicapped, placing him in a wheelchair. His superhero alter-ego, Dr. Timothy, uses telepathy, and that reminds me of future technology always.
