SO greek tragedy elektra natchios fic <33 i MAY write it at some point but as of now its nothing but a bunch of snippets in my notes app. basically it has the same like. weird time shenaniganary of nothing’s a gift and kind of Builds on it ig?? if matt is iphigenia then elektra is obviously. well. electra!! theyre both doomed and theyre both doomed by something out of their control.

its like. part narrative part allusion part script to really dig into the greek tragedy aspect of elektra’s life.

here’s a part that I actually have written:

Her blood tastes like freedom, like whispered Ellie’s, like a refusal to look a wild animal in the eyes. It tastes like good, and choices, and martyrdom. It tastes like Matt, like every light-filled golden strand holding him up, and it tastes like fate tripping and time shaking.

She smiles up at Matt, watches the grief coat his sightless eyes. Sankt, she thinks. Cassandra. Martyr.

Elektra dies. The curtains close. The theater bows, and its double aches. So it goes.

Enter ELEKTRA, grave dirt bitter in her mouth. Enter ELEKTRA, already dead. Enter ELEKTRA, as bound to her fate as she is to her name.

The building falls. Matt lives. Elektra dies. So it goes.

i am just very obsessed with elektra existing as a weapon. and the black sky. and matt’s and stick’s Problem. and the narrative’s sacrifice (twice over). but she never gets to be anything else or anyone else. she tries to step outside the bounds of prophecy and invokes it instead (twice over).

BLUE PLATE SPECIAL: Very much a "scroll past it, scroll back up, scroll again, scroll up again" work for me. Every time I look at it(including this upload) I've caught something I missed before. Jamie isn’t smiling in it, instead regarding the camera with a sullen almost-glare - though Ted figures that’s not far off from the expression he seems to wear a lot on the day-to-day. JAMES TARTT JR. it reads in bold, official typeface, and then, under it, STAFF. When he notices that Ted is looking at it, Jamie’s almost-glare turns into a completely-glare and he yanks one of his hands out, stuffing the card inside his jacket again and zipping the front up to just under his chin.

the answer to this may be too spoiler-y, but considering that jamie and his father are still from manchester in the baby jamie au, why are they (presumably? fully just assumed this so correct me if im wrong!) living in london now? is it temporary or did they move with the intention of staying in london permanently? does the answer to this question have anything to do with whatever the equivalent of jamie getting sent back to man city is? i love love love the baby jamie au so much btw, im living for all the little snippets!!

the thing about me is that i will truly talk about whatever about my fics even if it spoils a lot, and this is perhaps not a good thing but it is never the less A Thing SO the short answer is they're living in london, yes! it was a Recent move and there is a Reason, and it is indeed intended to be temporary, and it Absolutely does have a lot to do with the equivalent of jamie getting sent back to city!

Saturn Devouring His Son

Goya had this shit painted on the walls of his house. Anyways this painting is very me very yummy human it really feeds into my desire to tear into human flesh and I also like the anguish on Saturn's face as he chomps into his son. Once I made cookies of the son so I could experience being Saturn yeah anyways this ones great if you love fucked up families and cannibalism (snowdoesntexist)

If "Saturn Devouring His Son" by Francisco Goya hasn't been submitted yet, someone's asleep. There is nothing about this painting that isn't disturbing. The dark background, the subject, the posture, the stark white of the eyes, the gaunt limbs, the hands digging into the back, just everything. Every time I remember this painting exists, I expect to meet him in a dark hallway and it's terrifying. (artemistakenidentity)

One art that fucks me up is Francisco Goya's "Saturn Devouring His Son".

Even without all the context of where the painting comes from, it fucks me up due to the contrast between the horrific act and Saturn's look of profound desperation as he commits it. (jackmusclescarier)

SUSANNA AND THE ELDERS, RESTORED - X-RAY: The rage and horror that bleeds through the x-ray version of Susanna and the Elders? Makes me feel like my bones are being liquefied. I feel holy righteous rage and solidarity and love for a woman nearly 4 centuries removed. I feel things too embarrassingly personal to put in a poll. Artemisia Gentileschi based the bodies of both Judith in the first painting and Susanna in the second on her own. Perhaps because of this, perhaps simply because of her immense skill as an artist, the women (and situations) in these paintings feel real. I feel like I could reach out and touch. Gilje's depiction of anguish and the connection made to artemisia's life is palpable. (sepulchral-pulchritude) (longer commentary previously included)
