Happy FFWF! My question for you is, are you going to write any more chapters of Animal Rescue, and if so, do you have an idea for what the next chapter will be? I love all the animal-related chaos you make them get into! And I love all the OCs you create for that fic!

Yes, I absolutely am. There are a couple of ideas I’m mulling over. Firstly, the original headcanon post that fic spawned off had a major tangent involving Cathy adopting pigeons off the street which I want to explore (although that may end up being a linked fic in the same Chaosverse because it’s its own beast). And then, because I love writing outsider POV and everyone seems to like reading outsider POV, I want to write the random petty criminals they’re buying the animals from like ‘oh my god it’s that woman again, what disguise will she have this time...oh Christ it’s a full power ranger outfit keep a straight face we’re supposed to be hard.’

Thank you for the ask, and for always leaving such lovely comments on Animal Rescue. I genuinely didn’t expect the response it’s got and I’m so happy to hear I’m making people laugh :)

I’m gonna be honest with you as a artist who has been through multiple art classes in middle and high school

I still do not understand

Probably because I am a visual learner for the most part xd blame the autism-

Shading and light are enough as a enigma for me though and I do not feel like complicating my confusions even further

I am not diving into deeper waters when I can barely keep myself afloat without a life jacket

I'm curious to know how many of you know what "rendering" means.

I'm talking about when in art we need to "render" a piece.

I see a lot of people talking about adding "shading" and "lighting". Which is.... correct. Absolutely.

But I want to add one piece of knowledge that might. I used to use the word "render" to explain that last process where I would add a lot of details to the drawing and making it more polished.

But then I learned 3D modelling and textures (like- 8 years ago lol). Once I learned the definition by the book of what render a path tracing render is in 3D, It completely changed how I understood light.

This is copied and paste from the unity website:

Path tracing is a ray tracing algorithm that sends rays from the Camera and, when a ray hits a reflective or refractive surface, recurses the process until it reaches a light source. The series of rays from the Camera to the Light form a path.

This is exactly how light works in real life. From the source of light in a scene, the light ray travels until it hits an object, and then, based on the properties of the object, if bounces a certain amount of light to another direction, and keep going until all the light is absorbed in different objects/particels.

this helped me immensely because it made me understand how rendering is understanding the lights in your scenes, and how they bounce around the subject. A light path doesn't end when it touches its first object in the way.

It’s a “me” thing and I’m probably the only one who thinks of this, but I really do not like it when he is perceived as “Baby”

This “Baby” has possibly been a around for millennia considering Marie has been around ever since time itself (speculation) and (mostly) has control over his own powers in such a way that he was able to make a plan which only failed due to talk-no-jutsu (and game logic)

If anything he is socially inept and emotionally unstable due to only having himself and Marle around for MEDIUM knows how long and that kind of isolation with one person in a desolate void where the same old happens 99% of the time would DEFINITELY cause some stunted mental growth

He might be physically a “child” but that might be in Marle’s “Age” terms considering she’s been around for probably a bunch of EONS, and if that’s the case, it’s very likely he is practically older and both the Puyo and the Tetris worlds themselves (since I know dang well those two would haven’t been around for eons)

Mentality wise, yeah, he has the emotional stability of a 6 year old, but JUST BECAUSE MARLE SAYS HE IS LITTLE KID DOESN’T MEAN HE IS LITERALLY LITTLE KID

HE DOES NOT NEED BABYSITTING HE NEEDS THERAPY

I’m probably the only person who thinks this way but I will die on this hill before I think of squares as a literal baby

Unrelated but I find myself acting like a spirit more often than not

I know it’s rare (for some reason) and not a lot of people get it, but when someone does get it, it makes this game a lot more fun

My favorite spirit to Pa-troll (that’s what I call it) as has to be the Bumbling Boatswain, he’s just very interesting to me :D
