I looooove my physical therapist!

I've improved enough she was able to make adjustments to my left hand. Ligaments and tendons on the top of my hand had been twisted all wrong, but my forearm hand wrist have been too much of a wreck to adjust anything in my hand. I'm now in significantly less pain!

I still can't do any sewing because pressing down on the ruler is BAD due to the fact I can't press it correctly. My joints are too wobbly and moves stuff all wrong. Getting some nonslip things made for rulers will improve things. The ones I've been using aren't good enough. I have the things I need on my list here:

Putting any weight on my wrist is also a BIG no. This includes clapping, pushing a shopping cart, and holding rulers down. I've also been instructed not to hold a game controller until after the next appt. The controllers aren't hEDS friendly, and twist my hand a bit. Even resting my hands on my lap makes no difference. I would love to game on my PC, but my chair is extremely uncomfortable. It's also 10 years old sooooo no surprise. Then there's the issues with my keyboard. Both the chair and keyboard I need are also on that list.

It looks like I may return to my sewing room by the end of February! We'll see how it goes over the next several weeks. This nearly four month break has been helping me not just physically but mentally as well. Burnout was getting too close after 10 months of constant work. This year, I'm tapping out at two hours a day, max 10 hours a week. With the new machine and frame setup, finishing quilts will be much easier and faster. After practice quilts. Oh, those will absolutely happening. Deeply discounted to account for the fact they are practice. Said quilts will be made with panels, so minimal piecing. By hand, maybe 20 hours of quilting. The new setting may cut that in half. Yay!

What I have been occupying myself in the meantime is Dragon Age. I've gotten through two playthroughs! Now I'm working on fanfiction. PT said I can type all I want so long as I do stretches they gave me, and every 15 minutes. Started the stretching last week, and WOW! Huge difference! Quilts will happen when my hand is happy, but writing is my focus while I recover.

There is something we'll and truly beautiful about seeing someone do something they love, and doing it because it brings them such joy.

I added a keyboard compromise to my list seeing as I really wanna write some explicitly detailed smutty Dragon Age fanfiction. Again.

The keyboard I genuinely need won't happen until probably Fall 2025. That one is custom-made and will be around $500. Not a realistic option when I have things higher on my priority list.

It never fails to be a surreal experience when you encounter a fan. In person.

I was chatting Dragon Age with a random person because they happened to gave a DA shirt on.

Listen, I can talk to anyone. Drives my husband mad, but whatever.my dad also has this same talent, and my mother has had to physically pull him away from people.

Anyway...

I mentioned how much i've enjoying reading and writing DA smut again. They asked if I have an AO3 account, I said yes. They ask what my AO3 name is (chaosfay) and proceed to go into fangirl mode.

This is thr fourth time in less almost five years that I have experienced this. Twice it was at quilt shops, and someone in the store recognized my work. Another was at a vet clinic. The vet tech told me they like my shoelaces, I said "thanks, I stole them from the president," and they squealed when I told them my tumblr name. They know my quilts and missed seeing new DA fanfiction.

Now...another fan.

This is just weird! Not bad, just wow. I had no idea my area has people who know my work.

I rarely leave my house, courtesy of chronic illness, my inability to drive nor use travel around alone, and having nowhere to go other than Dr and PT appointments. If you recognize me in public, feel free to say hi. Just, please, don't fangirl. It's really awkward.

This year, I want to treat myself to something special. I couldn't last year due to the train wreck 2024 was. Emergency after emergency, starting with the ice storm in January that put a tree on our roof and tore the gutters off, and ending with the loss of Cacoa.

My hope for 2025 is better finances and no emergencies. If things go well, I'll commission some artists starting in June (my birthday month). First, a commission of my canon Rook from Dragon Age The Veilguard. Then portraits of Jasper and Cacoa, at least one of each. After that, perhaps more Dragon Age commissions. I love supporting other artists, and had made a point of commissioning at least one every year for the last 15 years.

After this month, I'll be setting aside money for the commissions. The overall budget for these combined will e around $600, more if I can afford it. It's why my main account is sort of flooded with reblogs of Dragon Age fanart by artists, primarily those who accept commissions. If a trade were a viable option, I would be open to it, but I need money to pay my bills. Hence a little saved here, a little saved there. That won't start until probably February.

If you fancy making anything for my fanfiction, go right on ahead. I have it all listed on AO3 (beware most of what I write is explicit). The link can be found on @anotherdayforchaosfay I'm Chaosfay on AO3. You will need to be signed in to your account to read anything. This is to prevent AI from scraping and stealing my work. If you write fanfiction and post it on AO3, consider locking it down like I have. For those who do make fanart: credit me for the story and my Rook, link back to my AO3, and send me a link to your art. Or, better yet, DM me here. I don't have any social media accounts, just tumblr, and won't be able to see anything on your social media. You can send me the work via DMs, and I can then download it, post it on the fic it's made for, and credit you with a link you want me to use. Explicit artwork is 100% acceptable and censoring isn't necessary for AO3.

Now, seeing as I can't work on anything related to quilts, and my physical therapist has told me I'm not allowed to hold a game controller until further notice, I'll be writing lots of fanfiction. PT has actively encourage I type, but with breaks every 15 minutes for hEDS stretches. It's why my AO3 is currently being filled with lots of new stuff, and on a near-daily basis. If 90% canon Dragon Age fanfiction is your thing, and you're comfortable with explicit stories, head that way.

I'll keep y'all updated on my recovery, but no new work will be started until February, other than painting.

I'm working on making more fanfiction again, so hey, may as well share some old favorites. You will need an AO3 account and be logged in. I have my fics behind an account wall due to AI scraping stories. Fair warning: I write a lot of smut. Namely explicit smut. Because I can.

Daisy's Story - This is a one shot based off a playthrough for Dragon Age Origins. I make a point of having every ending and, OMG, some of them are downright cruel. If you want a mix of smut, fluff, and angst, and have a need to cry, this may be what you're looking for.

Begging For More - 100% filthy Cullen smut I wrote for @reellifejaneway2 This is NSFW and a good dose of lemonade. I do not recommend reading this in public if you have a habit of blushing.

Cullen's Not-So-Private Thoughts - Written entirely for my personal pleasure, this is what happen when Cole listens in when he really shouldn't. I may or may not have laughed a lot while writing this.

This is just a very small sampling of my stuff. Most of the unfinished stories will remain as-is because I've moved on from those characters.

Ghanima Lavellan is the only one I'm working on as far as stories go right now, seeing as she's my canon inquisitor and will be the one making an appearance in DATV. She was my first Inquisitor, the consequences of choices made pre-Trespasser were a slap in the face with a metal chair when I played that DLC. I may or may not have been screaming at Solas. Yeah, he was the first romance.

My canon HoF is Jasmine Amell, and her story is kinder, having hooked up with and married Alistair. They have a daughter, Anabel, who is a year younger than Kieran. She's my Rook, a Lord of Fortune, and the surname that background provides is false and to protect her identity. Her story will be intense. Her story is going to be taking center stage very soon. Well, as soon as I have a console I can play on after the game arrives.

Yes, I'm excited. However, my writing time is limited due to the keyboard and my hands and wrists being a wreck. I know what one I'm getting, how much it costs, and will be doing only a little writing until I can afford it.
