A Time Like No Other

Chapter 28

Misun rented a vehicle just so transportation wouldn’t be awkward for Minhyuk, seeing as he had never even laid eyes on any of her family members nor had they. Honestly they didn’t even know he was coming and the odd thing was that she wasn’t even quite sure how to even introduce him.

Minhyuk took a deep breath. “The company reserved me a hotel by the way.” He couldn’t stay still in the passenger seat as she drove around her hometown from the airport.

She was focusing on the road. She hadn’t really drove in forever because her and Nori always caught the subway or had a driver provided for them by their company.

Minhyuk snapped his fingers. “Did you hear me?”

As Misun pulled up to a traffic light she made a quick stop and looked over at him. “Huh? Sorry I’m all in my thoughts.”

“I figured. I was saying that the managers reserved me a hotel for tonight.” He repeated with a slight smile.

She nodded and started driving again. “Do you want to be dropped off?”

“If you want to. I was thinking I could treat you to some food. Food normally makes girls happy, right?” He had no idea what he was doing when it came to women. As sad as it was but he had never had a girlfriend since their debut. They never had time for it honestly.

She took a deep breath. “Food is good. What do you have a taste for?”

“Burger?” Minhyuk suggested.

Misun pulled into a applebees. “This okay?” She turned to him and asked.

He hopped out the vehicle. “Food is food.” He opened the door for her. “Ladies first.”

She walked in and told the host that it would be just the two of them.

They sat in a booth and waited on their server to greet them.

Misun sent a quick text to her mother letting her know that she had made it into town but she was grabbing a bite to eat with a friend first. She made sure not to mention that it was a guy and that they had come together. She purposely left that bit of information out.

“Hey, I’m Aimee and I’ll be your server today. What can I get for you?” The short lady greeted.

Misun looked up at her. The girl looked so familiar.

“MiMi, is that you?!” Aimee asked.

Misun nodded. She remembered that she graduated high school with this girl but boy had she aged. “Wow. Yeah it’s me girl. How have you been?”

“I’ve been great! You look the same!” The server exclaimed.

Minhyuk simply watched the interaction without saying a word.

Misun gave her a small smile. “So do you.” She lied.

“I had heard that you moved to China or something?!” She looked to Minhyuk. “I guess it was true!” She sent him a huge smile.

Misun chuckled. “No actually I live in Seoul, South Korea.”

“Oops my bad! Is this your boyfriend?” She asked with a huge smile.

Misun nearly choked on her drink.

Minhyuk eyed her closely. “Are you okay?”

“Yes!” Misun answered after she got finished coughing.

“You go girl he’s a cutie!” Aimee clapped her hands.

Misun shook her head. “No no no, I meant yes I’m fine. He’s not my boyfriend. I mean- he’s a boy and we’re friends but-“

Aimee cleared her throat. “Well that’s awkward. I’m sorry I even asked. Drinks?”

“Water.” Misun answered quickly.

“Coke.” Minhyuk answered and watched the waitress walk away.

Misun took a deep breath.

“You make it sound so bad for me to be your boyfriend.” Minhyuk laughed.

“I definitely didn’t mean it like that. I’m just kind of struggling with how to address you...especially to my family.” She sighed.

Minhyuk smirked a bit. “It’s really simple. We know how we feel about one another. We don’t have to put a title on anything to suffice everyone else’s judgments. Like I said before, when the time is right it’ll just flow.” He smiled and nodded.

“I just know that my family are going to want to know about this.” She pointed from herself to him.

Minhyuk shrugged. “Do you want me to just stay at the hotel then when you go to the surgery center?”

She shook her head quickly! “No. You came here to be with me and that’s exactly what you’re going to.”

Minhyuk grabbed her hand and caressed it. The server came up with their food.

“Still not dating?” Aimee giggled.

Misun simply smiled and grabbed their plates.

Shownu

The guys were at a radio station getting ready to be interviewed. Their stylist and makeup artists were all around them, getting them ready.

Elle sat back and just watched. She hadn’t spoke to Shownu since their little spat. She was a bit embarrassed and hurt honestly. She didn’t mean to be so invasive but she just couldn’t help herself. She stood and walked over to the radio host to get a definite time for them to go on-air.

Shownu pulled his phone out and sent a quick text to Misun. I hope everything goes well. Your dad is in my prayers.

He waited for a response but it was time for them to go on air so he left his phone behind.

“We’re the station that brings you the hottest music and even hotter artist. We have with us Kpop sensation MONSTA X! So how does it feel to be doing so much in the states?!” The radio host asked.

Changkyun got ready to answer. “It feels amazing. Even though people don’t speak our language here they still vibe with us!”

“Is it ever awkward to speak to your fans here because of the language barrier?”

The guys all shook their head. “Not at all.” Kihyun spoke.

“Love translates in every language. We love our fans so much, they’re family.” Changkyun added.

The interview went on and they shared laughs and warm moments.

After the interview was finished Shownu immediately grabbed his phone. He was so happy to have a text from Misun. The surgery is over. Everything went well. Thanks for being such a considerate and caring friend <3

Before he could answer back Kihyun was beside him. “Regretting any decisions?”

Shownu looked over him and chuckled. “What do you have against Misun?”

“I actually really like her. I just don’t want you and Minhyuk’s relationship to be affected. I’m just worried.”

Shownu shrugged. “Nothing to worry about. We’re fine. We have an understanding and as much as you can’t see it right now, it’s better this way. As a leader sometimes we have to make decisions that don’t always make sense to you guys but it’s what’s for the best.” He patted Kihyun’s shoulder.

“I trust you, Hyung. Just don’t let us down. We all need you and Minhyuk-Hyung to be good terms. We all need each other.” Kihyun gave him a quick smile.

Shownu nodded. “Everything will be fine.”

“Also, what’s up with Elle? She’s super quiet today and she’s normally stuck to you like glue.” Kihyun looked over at Elle who was standing in the corner waiting on everyone to leave with her arms crossed.

Shownu rolled his eyes a bit. “I kind of think she didn’t like that me and Misun dated at some point.”

“Well duh cause she likes you!” Kihyun revealed. “Have you not noticed that she caters to you more than anyone and you’re not even as fluent in English as Changkyun or even me!”

“I guess I thought she was just being nice. I basically told her to back off when it came to my personal life. I probably shouldn’t have done that.” Shownu looked over at her. She was staring at the ground.

“Dang, you said that? I mean I get it but gosh that’s bold.”

“I was irritated and honestly I’m not ready for another relationship. I can’t just get over someone that I love that fast and she acted like it wasn’t a big deal that I didn’t want to talk about it.”

Kihyun nodded. “I get it. You just need time. Especially since you’re going to have to witness her with someone else. They say the easiest way to get over someone is to get under someone else.” He laughed.

Shownu shook his head with a small smile and simply walked away.

Jooheon

He waited for Nori to open her room door. It was a single room seeing as it was just her at this location since Misun wasn’t there.

She finally came to the door. She had already changed out of her clothes and had on pajama pants.

“So I take it we’re ordering in?” Jooheon asked as he eyed her attire.

Nori nodded and let him in. “I’m not feeling that good today honestly.”

“Yeah and you didn’t film that much. What’s wrong? You’re off today!” Jooheon kept questing as he laid on her bed.

Nori shrugged.

“You miss her don’t you?” Jooheon teased. “You can’t go a day without her??”

Nori rolled her eyes. “Stop making fun of me! We’re always together so it doesn’t feel right without her.”

“I swear I feel like I can’t even compete with Misun.” He laughed.

Nori eyed him with her eyebrow risen. “You can’t so don’t even try. I still love you though baby.” She squeezed his cheeks.

He sighed. “I know, I just get a little jealous.” He snuggled up close to her.

“Don’t worry she feels the same way about you. She rubbed his face.

He clapped. “Yay! We’re in the same boat then. Have you talked to her?”

“Yes. She said her family met Minhyuk and they love him.”

“Everyone does.” He laughed.

“She said they wanted to know why they’re not dating.” She giggled. “Little do they know!”

“I don’t understand why they just won’t make things official. It’s not like our fans even knew that any of us were dating, they just know that we have a friendship. Shownu is fine with it so what’s the hold up?!” Jooheon shrugged.

Nori sighed. “I think they’re scared for something to go wrong especially after all it has taken for them to even be together.”
