a bit unrelated,

but my brother looked up what langue de chat was supposed to be (i told him the translation is probably cat's tongue but we can't pronounce french so ig more of a pronounciation thing) and it's literally just lenguas... this insinuates there can technically be a champurradas cookie because they're the same, just with sesame seeds and round.

My love, Suki, and I are going to the farmer’s market! I’ve been excited for the fall season to start cause all the vendors bring out all the fall staples. I get so excited to see the figs and feed one to Suki. He spots the vendor that has decorated caramel apples and knows I’m gonna want one of each to taste test. He loads a box in the car for us to take home. Later, we’re trying a numerous amount of different foods and treats, like pumpkin rolls, tamales, empanadas, caramel corn, candied pecans, champurrada, sugar cane cider, and apple cider. After everything is starting to die down we walk hand in hand and we spot a photo booth. I giggle inside the booth, “Ryo, baby, that tickles! We need to get one decent picture please.” He hums into my neck. Every picture is him kissing me or nuzzling my ear. As we get in the car to head home he places the photo strip in his dashboard. “Perfect,” He says and turns to smile at me “just like you Bunny.” 🥰

Okay I had waaaaayyyyy too much fun imagining this!

I'm going on a long walk in sunny autumn weather with Kuna. We hold hands the whole time, and my bad boy is super tame and sweet. Ok, he might suddenly swoop me up in his arms and start running, but that's just because, "I haven't done my workout routine today, princess, so you have to help me!" ;)

Remembering el cucui is always the funniest thing bc I didn’t actually know what it was other than that my mom would threaten/warn me to be good and not go outside (specifically at night) bc it would be out there… in the backyard… somewhere… to get me if I did. And then I look it up and a) it’s basically the equivalent of a boogeyman (which always instantly reminds me of that song from the nightmare before Christmas), but most importantly b) it’s more commonly known as el coco? Why is it known as the coconut????? Hello???????? Which then sends me spiraling into other words I grew up knowing that are different from the commonly known one. Like, I always hear pajilla (on tv and by other non-family Spanish speakers irl is what I mean) but grew up with the word popote. Chancla is so well known it’s a meme even for non Spanish speakers, yet the word I grew up with was chancleta. “curly hair” always throws me through a loop bc it’s apparently ��pelo chino” and not “colocho”?????

not a variation of words but my favorite (funniest) memory is of finding out what champurrado is sometime in my early teens (don’t remember when exactly it was). Bc guatemala specifically has a traditional cookie called champurrada that has always been my favorite and I’d always get excited about whenever my parents would go to the little tienda guatemalteca thats pretty near by and ask them to bu some. But one time my sister’s friend’s mom was making and selling champurrado (which we got some) and I went with my sister to her friends house to pick it up. I was excited but confused about why she had pronounced it with an “o” instead of an “a” but thought it was just a mistake. Well, my surprise when we walk into her friend’s kitchen and I see this giant container with this chocolaty drink inside. Not hot chocolate bc it was way too thick to be that but I had no idea what champurrado was at that point so I had no idea it had flour in it.

“Usually in the morning, I like to have my coffee after eating breakfast. Usually with Champurradas ( pictured here ) or Pan Dulce. I grow my own coffee beans too! So I know it will always taste delicious!”
