A year ago, I bought a plane ticket to Miami the night before Art Basel with @thefamousgregjackson. No other homies or any idea what I was in for. Just moved to NY the month before and trying to finesse whatever I could in South Beach. Meals at Subway, packing a flask, crashing with a girl I met once on Tinder in New Orleans... Regardless of how scummy or rough it may have felt, I left feeling very inspired. Exactly a year later, I was given the opportunity to come back with a piece in the @champssports #champsillustrated show. . . It seems cliche, but hard work and long hours in the studio do pay off. I remember being afraid to leave Portland, cause life had gotten super comfortable. My Airbnb paid my rent, the freelance work was flowing, i had a pretty dope studio setup, was traveling 3-6 months of the year - but very unsatisfied. I was always dreading the return home... NY was always in the back of my head but seemed so impossible because I was afraid of being broke. Sometimes when life doesn’t really throw you a curve, it might even be harder to dig deeper and just throw yourself up against the wall and see if you still got what it takes to start over. . . I’m so glad I have. I’ve met so many amazing people, had some lifechanging opportunites and have grown so much over the past year. I have never been happier and more excited for what the future holds. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way - you guys all know who you are! Big shout out to @briancchu 🙏🏽 📸 @catocataldo 🎬 @dexdelfin (at Wynwood Arts District - BID) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrQbkKVh3At/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=iv74c92eg48i
