XTRA [ RP STONT ] —  happy new year, unnie
Tumblr media
miny/n spend their first christmas together (with everyone else, of course)
WARNINGS ; fluff, crack, yujin being annoying, everyone is taken basically (except for chaewon)
Tumblr media
y/n wasn't attached to her phone.
there was once a time where she was, almost a year ago. she remembered those late nights, scrolling through each one of her burner accounts, watching as the snow fell against her chilled window. each word, each article seemed to invade her mind, and it felt like the world had given her the worst gift of all.
she hated herself back then, almost as much as she loved kim minji now.
"i don't understand why we have to host it in our dorms." y/n could hear kazuha complain, groaning as chaewon ushered them to clean faster.
y/n didn't mind, in all honesty. cleaning reminded her of minji, and how the girl would reprimand the youngest newjeans member to pick up after herself.
her girlfriend was so cute.
"you'd rather sneak yujin in?" yunjin raised an eyebrow, teasingly.
chaewon stopped in her tracks, letting her duster hang to the side. "you sneak yujin in?"
a chill ran down y/n's spine. if she found out kazuha had been sneaking yujin in from time to time, there was a greater chance that she would figure out she and minji were doing the same.
"no."
y/n could see kazuha glaring at the american in the golden retriever onesie. the kim already knew what was going through her best friends mind, the ballerina trying to recall any wrongdoing that yunjin had done.
nakamura kazuha was scary, exactly ahn yujin's type (though she'd never admit it).
"um," y/n cleared her throat. she was glad her leader had a short attention span. "when are they coming again?"
"yujin should be here soon." chaewon went back to dusting, the cheetah print of her onesie moving along with each sweep. "hanni just texted yunjin that their on their way. kkura-unnie's somewhere getting something with chaeyeon."
"i bet they ditched us."
y/n held back a sigh. it's not that she didn't want to hang out with her members, but she'd prefer if she hung out with her girlfriend one on one.
y/n missed her girlfriend.
"probably not." chaewon shook her head. "kkura-unnie said she's bringing a surprise for me, whatever that means."
the three younger girls look at each other.
sakura and chaeyeon were actually doing it. they were doing the plan.
"is she talking about-"
kazuha nodded. "i already helped yunjin-unnie to hang it."
yunjin gave a thumbs up, her body basically vibrating at the thought of her leader finally growing brain cells. she hoped sakura's plan worked this time around. if not, then perhaps chaewon was meant to be single for the rest of her life.
"hang what?"
the three looked at each other once more. they looked at chaewon.
she was so gonna kill all of them if she found out.
"what?"
on cue, the doorbell rang, the monitor lighting up to alert the girls of the presence of a human. a part of y/n wondered who conveniently appeared at that very second, but she knew it could only be one person.
y/n walked to the monitor, looking at an eye that seemed to be centimeters away from the camera. if she didn't know any better, she would've chalked it up to a twelve year old playing with their doorbell camera, but y/n knew that playful glint in the 'stranger's' eye, all of daejeon did.
she looked at kazuha, waiting for the taller girl to react.
kazuha, like always, giggled, a blush dusting her cheeks.
there it was.
pressing down on the button, kazuha spoke into the mic, her voice echoing her smile. "yujin!"
"hi." yujin smiled into the camera, stepping away. "you look pretty."
y/n rolled her eyes. the two always flirted so shamelessly in front of her. if kazuha wasn't so happy and yujin wasn't one of her best friends, she would've thrown up.
the kim spoke into the mic this time, watching as yujin smiled at the thought of her girlfriend.
"you can't see her through the camera."
the idol shrugged, "i don't need to. i already know she's gonna be pretty."
kazuha giggled once more, earning chaewon's attention who sighed at the interaction. she never understood how someone could act like that with another person.
"gross." y/n frowned. at times like these, she wished minji was near. "ka-chan'll open the door for you."
"okay."
although the door was was a mere meter away, kazuha still rushed as if her life depended on it. she hadn't seen yujin in a while (three days ago, to be exact), and she was sure she was losing her mind.
on the other side of the door, the idol could hear the door unlock at lightning speed. yujin's smile widened. the thought of seeing her girlfriend was making her impatient, her leg tapping against the pavement.
the door swung open, but before the cold breeze of winter could burst through, yujin launched herself onto kazuha, lifting her up with a strength that could only be from the adrenaline she felt.
y/n sighed, closing the door behind them. she watched as the two exchanged pleasantries, ignoring the kim that was standing behind them.
"hi, i'm here too." y/n raised an eyebrow at the couple. "i'm your best friend. am i just a block?"
"zuha's my girlfriend, though." yujin peaked around the corner, checking for the le sserafim leader before she planted a kiss on kazuha's cheek. "she's also your best friend."
y/n covered her eyes as kazuha wrapped her arms around yujin's neck.
"you're so sweet."
y/n wished minji was here.
the door opened once more, the maknae of le sserafim staring at y/n. the younger girl's cheeks were rosy, her eyes shifting around. y/n could tell she was hiding someone behind her.
it couldn't have been kim minju, sakura and chaeyeon were still on their way.
slowly, a familiar face peaked out from eunchae's shoulder, her cat-like eyes meeting the kim's. she could hear kazuha gasp behind her, yujin snickering.
chaewon was gonna kill someone tonight.
"you're kidding."
"stop leaving the door open!" y/n could hear chaewon's voice coming closer to the door, and there was no doubt she'd see kyujin's bright red cat onesie as soon as she saw what was happening. "the hot air is leavi-"
chaewon dropped the duster, a small clatter echoing the entry.
yujin bit her tongue once more.
"so, um... surprise! kyujin is spending her christmas with us!" eunchae grabbed her girlfriend's arm, shoving y/n out of the way as the two entered the house. quickly, the youngest engulfed chaewon in a hug. "thank you so much, i love you, you're the best unnie ever."
chaewon blinked.
"hold on-"
"you're the best, unnie!" eunchae signaled for kyujin to hurry, the idol rushing inside and bowing politely to all those she passed (yunjin stood in shock).
eunchae let go, chaewon's mind still reeling at the fact kyujin was most likely gonna stay in the dorms, overnight.
"yah!" eunchae scurried of at the sound of the leader's voice. "hong eunchae!"
y/n sighed once more, tapping the back of her phone as she closed the door. she watched as yujin entered the living room, arm wrapped around kazuha's waist. off to her left, kyujin and eunchae sat on the sofa, chaewon eyeing them, holding back her tongue.
the kim glanced at her phone, waiting for minji to text or to call, just wanting to know where her girlfriend was and if she was close.
"i miss my girlfriend." y/n spoke to no one, head hung low as the hood of her onesie covered her face.
yunjin, being in ear shot, patted the younger girl's back, watching as she sulked like a puppy. "she's on her way, y/n-ah."
y/n whined, and it took everything in yunjin to not tease the younger girl.
"i miss her now."
her and yujin were more alike than she'd like to admit.
yunjin rubbed her back, trying her best to reassure y/n.
"she's on her wa-"
"i miss her." she whined once more, hating the feeling of not having her girlfriend around her.
yunjin shook her head. she was glad that she had more security to not act like this, even if she did miss her girlfriend back in america. minji, who was at most five minutes away, was here in seoul, and y/n was getting more and more impatient by the minute.
it was cute, honestly, but yunjin now had to babysit a sad kim y/n and an angry kim chaewon while keeping an eye on kazuha and yujin.
she didn't understand how sakura did it, or how eunchae seemed the most responsible out of the four of them.
"unnie, where's minji?"
"she's on her way."
"i want my girlfriend now."
yunjin could only hope for minji's quick arrival.
Tumblr media
chaewon was going insane.
it wasn't because eunchae had dragged her girlfriend to the christmas gathering. in all honesty, she actually liked kyujin. the youngest member of nmixx was responsible, her thoughts seemingly organized, the perfect contrast to their eunchae. chaewon just liked putting up a front, so kyujin knew there were consequences if she broke their maknae's heart.
truthfully, kazuha and yujin were more of an issue. chaewon knew how yujin's mind worked, the ive leader was much like her. she liked having kazuha around, and urging her girlfriend to wreak havoc onto her, sakura and y/n (mostly her, though). chaewon could handle that, even if the glint that formed in kazuha's eyes scared her.
minji was no problem either. she was sweet, and thoughtful, always stopping by to say hello to her whenever they encountered each other in the corridors between breaks. she was a breath of fresh air for y/n, and, although chaewon would be outwardly livid, she wouldn't mind minji marrying y/n.
she could handle all of that usually, but this christmas had a glaring problem.
kim minju.
why did minju have to be so pretty?
the doorbell rang repeatedly, echoing throughout the house as each alert was cut off by the next. y/n, not bothering to check since only one person (read: haerin) did that, nearly ran to the door, opening it to face the newjeans girls in their respective onesies.
minji smiled sheepishly, her cheeks rosy from the cold of the december night. if y/n wasn't so upset, she would've kissed her right there.
the le sserafim member ushered the girl group in, closing the door behind her, ignoring minji's longing stare.
usually, y/n would jump into her arms, and minji would basically ascend at the feeling of being so close to her girlfriend. minji, like always, would cherish the feeling, like she cherished kim y/n's entire exsistance.
now, there was nothing but a frown.
"you took long." minji looked down, gripping onto the gift in her hand. "were you busy looking at other girls?"
the newjeans' leader's eyes widened, shaking her head. she'd be crazy to think of anyone but her girlfriend. come to think of it, minji hasn't thought of any other person like that since she liked y/n, not even her celebrity crush.
minji liked her kim more, anyway.
"minji?" hanni snickered. minji ran around the house like a lunatic for an hour or two. "she was late because-"
"shut up!" minji covered hanni's face, shoving her away lightly. even if they had been dating for a while now, the young idol still felt nervous. it was their first christmas together, after all.
y/n raised her eyebrow, scanning the other girls' faces.
hyein, like always, looked back at the kim, her eyes gleaming with excitement. y/n wondered if hyein had grown, or if y/n had merely shrunk. still, she knew that hyein would never rat out their leader. danielle was smiling at her, obviously trying to hold her tongue. her cheeks twitched from how hard she was smiling, looking between y/n and her girlfriend. y/n knew she wouldn't rat her out either.
and then, there was haerin.
"oh." haerin started. her face was void of emotion, but her eyes seemed to tease her leader. "minji-unnie couldn't find her perfume since hyein used it last. she said she needed to smell good for you."
minji glared at the girl. she knew that haerin would tell y/n, but the last part wasn't necessary.
it didn't matter, because minji could hear her girlfriend giggling beside her.
she looked over, letting go of hanni as y/n engulfed her in a hug. minji could feel herself smiling involuntarily, and a part of her still couldn't fathom how happy she always got around her girlfriend.
she looked down, her eyes meeting y/n's. minji's eyes fluttered closed, feeling y/n kiss her cheek.
"you're so cute, kim minji."
minji's face lit up, her heart beating loudly against her chest. the young idol, although seemingly shy when it came to affection, loved it every time.
still, she had some common sense, and considering she was at the le sserafim dorms, where chaewon constantly kept an eye on them...
"unnie!"
minji was scared of her girlfriend's leader, and she didn't understand how y/n wasn't.
as if chaewon had sensed something was wrong, she came over, looking between y/n and minji with suspiciously. she didn't understand how someone so short could hold so much authority with a single stare.
"no kissing in front of children." chaewon pointed a finger at minji, and the taller girl bowed slightly, muttering sorry's.
y/n rolled her eyes.
minji straightened back up, noticing there was another, more familiar looking girl to chaewon's left. hanni gasped at the sight, gripping onto danielle who hit her shoulder repeatedly.
"let them live, unnie." the mystery woman's voice seemed to calm down chaewon, and minji could feel the air finally enter her lungs once more.
"o-okay..."
y/n bit the side of her cheek. her leader was no better than her. in fact, chaewon was worse, cheeks bright red as she stared back into the other girl's eyes.
y/n felt minji lean over to her, her breath tickling her ear as they all entered the living room.
"is that the girl you told me about?"
y/n had told her on one of their many 7-eleven runs that chaewon was worse than the both of them combined when it came to a certain someone. minji never believed her, chaewon seemingly against anything that was romantic in some shape or form.
("she's just bitter because she can't pull.")
"minju-unnie?" y/n could see her leader's hand twitching, fighting off the urge to grab the actresses hand. she couldn't help but shake her head. "yeah."
minji believed her now.
"oh." minji put her present down next to the tree. she went over to chaewon, placing a hand on her shoulder. "good luck, sunbaenim."
"what?"
the le sserafim girls (minus chaewon) burst out laughing.
"stop laughing!" chaewon whined as minji scurried back to her girlfriend. "i don't get it!"
Tumblr media
kyujin wondered if she was going to die today.
she had her fair share of playing against some of the most competitive players she's ever met. haewon always made them play just dance together (even though kyujin had won every time they played). she was used to the screaming and shouting, but this was different.
jang kyujin feared for her life.
"you're a cheater!" chaewon had a stack of uno cards in her hands, pointing violently at the girl who tried to hide behind her maknae. "eunchae, your girlfriend is a cheater!"
eunchae couldn't help but laugh.
"you just suck at this, unnie."
chaeyeon shook her head. no matter how different chaewon looked on the outside, her habits never seemed to change.
"how did you manage to get an entire deck in one round?"
"shut it!" the leader whined, groaning as she leaned into a now flustered minju. "i was actually trying this time..."
as the shouting continued, sakura could only watch as they continued to fight. the members of newjeans (and yujin and minju) watched silently, obviously overwhelmed with the amount of accusations in the air.
("it's your fault you're bad." "you're not even playing!" "this is why you're single." "do you know how to play, unnie?" "don't insult me, jennifer.")
"are they always like this?" chaeyeon whispered into her girlfriend's ear, sakura sighing.
"you should see how bad it gets when its just us."
"ugh." chaewon could only take so much berating, finally letting kyujin off the hook and 'allowing' her to win. "fine, whatever. minji, go ahead."
minji nodded, looking around as chaewon, yujin, and yunjin stared at the cards in her hands.
"go minji-unnie!" hyein cheered suddenly, distracting everyone. "our official goddess visual."
minji shook her head. "seriously, hyein?"
hyein shrugged, and continued to cheer her member on. everyone knew that it was either her or yujin that was gonna win, both girls having four cards left versus yunjin and chaewon who had 10+ cards each.
"my votes on yujin." chaeyeon smiled at her former member.
she already knew minji was going to win, but it never hurt anyone to support the losing side.
"thanks, unnie." yujin beamed, her eyes shifting to kazuha. "i've got you on my side, right, babe?"
"well..." kazuha smiled innocently, yujin's face dropping. the ballerina began to scoot over to yunjin. "yunjin-unnie has no one cheering her on."
"babe," yunjin's eyes gleamed in excitement while yujin whined, saying that she 'needed her girl' to win. "please?"
"sorry." kazuha kissed her cheek, earning a gasp from chaewon (she chose to ignore the older girl's words. minju would calm her down eventually). "if it makes you feel better, y/n's doing it, too."
minji looked beside her, trying to reach y/n before she sat beside yunjin.
y/n was her girlfriend. minji wanted her girlfriend to cheer for her, and she wanted to win for her (and hyein too, she guessed).
"unnie?"
y/n looked over to her girlfriend, finding the young idol pouting lightly. minji, like always, looked adorable, her cheeks slightly red from how badly she wanted to win, and her eyes begging the older girl to sit next to her.
"don't look at me like that." y/n muttered, fighting back the urge to kiss her girlfriend. "you know yunjin-unnie's gonna cry later if she doesn't have anyone cheering for her."
"i will not!"
she was.
y/n smiled, grabbing minji's hand and squeezing it lightly. "next game, okay?"
minji nodded. "okay."
the game continued, kazuha and y/n helping yunjin with every chance they had. every so often, y/n would shoot minji a soft smile, and it was enough for minji to know that her girlfriend was cheering her on.
god, minji loved y/n so much.
"i wanna be like them." danielle sighed, resting her head on the cat-like girl's shoulder beside her.
haerin tensed up, hyein too busy to notice it this time around. hanni, however, wasn't.
"that's your cue, haerin." she leaned over, shoving the girl lightly as danielle continued to watch the game unfold.
haerin glared, staring into hanni's soul as if she was trying to suck it out with her eyes.
"damn, what's with the eyes, girl?"
Tumblr media
"this is stupid!"
chaewon whined, watching as she finished last. sakura laughed into her cup, her smile reaching her eyes as she stared into chaewon. chaeyeon shook her head, knowing her girlfriend was only angering the girl.
"you really suck at this, chaewon-ah." sakura teased, earning a laugh from yujin.
"shut up!" chaewon growled, calming down as she felt minju's hand rubbing her forearm. "i... i forgot the controls."
y/n shook her head, glancing at the rest of her members. she looked at the screen, watching the score board as she sat comfortably in third place, right behind a bot in second and sakura in first.
the idol leaned back into minji, feeling her girlfriend wrap her arms around her waist as y/n continued to sit comfortably on her lap.
"i'm doing good, right?"
minji nodded, kissing y/n's shoulder. she hadn't been paying attention, in all honesty. her, yujin and kyujin had been talking about something unimportant while the others played mario kart on sakura's switch. hyein and haerin were off watching kazuha's newly bought goldfish swim around in the kitchen, while danielle and yunjin were gossiping about their love life's.
minji felt at peace, knowing that her girlfriend was near her.
the young idol kissed y/n's cheek once more, earning a groan from hanni.
"stop making me feel single, bro." hanni muttered, rolling her eyes.
"that's on you, bro."
hanni stuck her tongue out, frowning as the next course started. it wasn't her fault she had a crush on her childhood best friend (but it was her fault for not saying anything to him).
"minji." yujin called out, her eyes laced in curiosity. "do you call y/n bro?"
minji shook her head. "no."
minji looked at the girl sitting on her lap, laser focused on beating hanni, chaewon, sakura and eunchae. minji had called y/n bro before they had started dating, but it never crossed her mind now that they have. perhaps her girlfriend would prefer it over 'unnie' or 'baby'.
"do you want me to call you bro, unnie?" minji asked.
y/n tensed up, glancing behind her as she mashed on the buttons harder.
("yah, kim y/n! don't break my controller!")
y/n hummed, clenching her jaw. the thought of minji calling her that upset her. she wasn't a 'bro'.
"do you want me to break up with you?" y/n asked sweetly, watching as she got passed by hanni. she cursed under her breath, exhaling out of her nose.
minji's eyes widened.
"no."
"then no." y/n muttered, listening to chaewon cry out in frustration as she overtook her.
minji nodded, ignoring the snickering that came from hanni beside her. hanni couldn't care less about the fight that almost broke out at that moment, not when she was currently in first place.
yujin, watching everything play down, turned to kazuha with a sweet smile.
"babe," the ive leader loved looking at her girlfriend. "can i call you-"
"finish that question and i'll break up with you."
hanni snickered once more.
"oh."
Tumblr media
chaewon liked to think that she knew minju like the back of her hand.
she knew the younger girl's favourite snacks, the way she liked her ramen cooked, how her eggs were boiled. chaewon knew minju's favorite colors to wear, and what brand of shoes were her go-to.
there was no way chaewon would lose this game this time, not when she knew everything about the love of her life.
"my turn." minju sat herself down comfortably between sakura and chaewon. the actress could feel everyone staring at her, waiting.
part of her wondered how dense chaewon truly was. she adored it most times, like she adored chaewon, but at times like this, she hoped that chaewon could see past her words. she hoped chaewon could see what she really meant and how she really felt.
minju cleared her throat, smiling nervously as she avoided chaewon's fiery gaze. "i have a crush on someone in this room, i've met the head of samsung before, and i've been offered to model overseas."
"definitely the first." chaewon said almost immediately. she would know if minju liked anyone. she would be crushed, but she would know.
the leader looked around, watching as everyone, even the younger girls, looked at her curiously. she didn't understand their stares, but at least chaewon knew that they would all lose. there was no way minju would like anyone without chaewon knowing.
the others nodded in agreement, muttering to themselves as the le sserafim leader watched from a distance.
"minju-unnie," eunchae started, her hand held tightly by kyujin. "it's samsung, right?"
minju could feel herself blush. it had been mere seconds before most of the girls had come to their conclusions. she had never been a good liar, chaewon had told her so.
"was it that obvious?" minju scratched her cheek.
chaewon paused.
"you like someone?" suddenly, the air felt like it was on fire, chaewon's lungs burning with every breath she took.
minju liked someone, someone that wasn't her. the girl that she had loved since they had first met didn't feel the same. kim minju didn't feel the same because she liked someone else.
chaewon wished she was someone else, whoever that was.
"you're blind, unnie." y/n shook her head, resting her cheek against minji's shoulder.
yujin raised an eyebrow. "you're one to talk."
y/n looked at yujin with a blank look. she knew all the ins and outs of the ive leader, the taller girl telling her everything that happened during her promotions, including things that kazuha didn't know about.
y/n smiled.
"ka-chan," y/n called out for her best friend. "did you know that yujin recently got asked out by-"
"no one!" yujin couldn't let kazuha find out, not when she knew how it would affect her. "no one. my eyes are only on you and for you, anyway."
kazuha looked at yujin, her eyes scanning her girlfriend up and down.
"okay." kazuha hummed, watching as yujin sighed in relief. "we'll talk about that later."
yujin pouted, trying her best to grab kazuha's hand and reassure her that nothing happened. perhaps ning yizhou had asked her out the week before, ambushing the taller girl as she tried her hardest to memorize her lines for sbs, but yujin immediately said no.
still, kazuha didn't care. at least not right now.
yujin shot minji a look, begging her to reason with her girlfriend just this once.
minji frowned. "unnie."
"she was being mean to me." y/n reasoned.
minji didn't budge, gesturing at kazuha who was now ignoring yujin. she watched as the taller girl tried to get her members attention, but to no avail.
sighing, y/n nodded.
"sorry, yujin." y/n frowned. "yujin reject her, anyway."
kazuha's lips twitched into a smile.
"really?"
yujin nodded as y/n buried herself into minji's arms.
yujin and kazuha were gross (but y/n knew that she and minji weren't any better).
Tumblr media
y/n watched as her leader followed kim minju around, tailing her like a puppy following it's owner.
beside her, minji shook her head, part of her cringing at the thought that she was (and still is) exactly like chaewon. she knew how it felt like, to feel like the girl that you were so in love with didn't love you back.
all minji could remember was how awful she had felt back then, when she stupidly thought that y/n had felt something for yujin.
she hoped that chaewon was smarter than her, that she could avoid the stress and heartbreak she felt at that moment.
minji sighed, grabbing her girlfriend's hand. "do you think she's ever gonna figure it out?"
y/n could only shrug, chaewon was as dense as her, if not worse. there was a chance that le sserafim's leader would only figure it out once it was too late.
the kim looked at sakura and chaeyeon, the two eyeing minju and chaewon closely.
there was no way they were going to let that happened.
"maybe later when kkura-unnie and chaeyeon-unnie force them under the mistletoe."
"someone should do that with haerin and dani." hanni hummed, nursing a red solo cup that held nothing but fruit punch. she rested her head on hyein. hanni didn't need to look, she already knew the contents stirring inside the younger girl's brain.
"not you, weirdo."
"why?" hyein whined. "i've behaved all night."
minji glared, pulling y/n into her arms. "you wouldn't let go of my girlfriend."
to minji, it was the truth. all night, she had to watch her girlfriend near hyein, hogging her girlfriend and holding her close, all the thing's that minji should've been doing.
in reality, it had only been one instance where hyein had done that, and it was when the two had been paired up (and won against yunjin and kyujin) in the whisper game.
"she's mine."
hyein shook her head. minji shouldn't have taken that drink from yujin. now, she was slightly tipsy, acting territorial.
minji felt a light nudge on her shoulder, turning her head to come face to face with y/n.
"baby, it's your turn." y/n whispered. minji nodded, taking the controller and arguing with kyujin over who was going to play kirby this time.
y/n turned to hyein, an apologetic smile on her face.
"don't worry about her too much, hyein-ah."
"i won't." hyein sighed, opening her phone as she started typing away. "i'll keep this in mind for the toast though."
"what toast?" y/n tilted her head.
"when you guys get married?"
y/n felt herself flush, her face turning bright red.
"what?"
"what?"
as if nothing happened, hyein went back to texting on her phone. she ignored the curious stare from y/n, wondering what hyein meant with the toast.
hyein was always weird, but y/n couldn't help but feel giddy at the thought of minji proposing to her.
Tumblr media
y/n squinted at the lamp sitting on her desk, illuminating the room with its bright light.
the others had all been asleep in the living room, two queen sized, inflatable mattresses taking up the entire space. it was suffocating, in all honesty. no matter how hard y/n tried to sleep (or how close she tried to get to minji), it was nearly impossible.
she needed to get out of there.
"chaewon-sunbaenim said i'm not allowed in your room." minji hesitated, feeling her girlfriend tug her inside.
"it's my room." y/n whispered back, closing the door behind her as minji looked around. the dim light made her face glow in the dark, like an angel that had descended from heaven. "it's not like you haven't been in here before."
minji nodded, ignoring the gnawing fact that she had only been inside when chaewon was out.
"did you have fun?" y/n asked. "i know unnie can be a bit over protective but-"
"i did." minji smiled.
it didn't matter if she was in the middle of nowhere. as long as minji stood next to y/n, the young idol would always enjoy her time.
kim y/n was her joy, and that would never change.
"good." y/n sighed in relief. "i'm glad."
minji's eyes gleamed in the dim light of the lamp shade, her irises trained on the girl in front of her. she felt herself scratching the side of her thumb, peeling off the skin. all minji's emotions seemed to bubble up in her chest.
this was it.
"it's been a year." minji had rehearsed this, just like she had rehearsed everything.
"yeah." y/n nodded, watching minji squirm in her bear onesie. "it went by so fast."
minji had snuck the present in here somewhere. she had hid it amidst the ruckus that was the second round of uno (kazuha, y/n, chaeyeon, minju and haerin). she could see it from where she was standing, the bag sitting on her girlfriend's desk.
minji kissed her, tasting the same vanilla lipgloss that the older girl had always worn, the one that shimmered against the light as they laid on her bed.
this was it. minji couldn't mess up now.
"i love you so much." but this wasn't part of what she practiced. she wasn't supposed to be overwhelmed like this. minji didn't understand why she always felt a surge of emotions, of love next to the older girl.
it terrified her, but somehow, she was okay with it.
"why are you crying?" y/n asked, minji relishing the touch of the older girl's fingertips as she wiped her tears away.
"i don't know." minji muttered, smiling slightly as y/n captured her lips once more. the young idol sighed. "sometimes, i feel horrible for the way i treated you."
y/n shook her head, "i treated you worse."
looking down, minji remembered all the times that y/n had ignored her. she remembered all the times that the older girl had sneered, rolling her eyes and ignoring the girl.
but minji had also remembered everything else, like how y/n looked at her that day, when min heejin had berated the older girl.
she was nothing like minji, and although minji loved that about her, it had broke y/n that day.
minji had no excuse, and she knew that from the beginning.
"still." the young idol shook her head, looking down at her feet. she didn't know if it was the singular shot that yujin had made her take or the guilt, but minji felt it in her soul. "yours was valid, but i had nothing to go on. i just hated you to hate you."
she loved y/n more than she had hated her, and now, the thought of hating the love of her life gnawed her down, especially as the rings sat on her girlfriend's desk.
"even if you did, that doesn't matter anymore." y/n said, kissing minji's forehead. "right now, you love me, and i love you. i forgive you, kim minji. i always will."
all that ever mattered to minji was y/n.
y/n's eyes looked into her own, her irises shining, swirling in happiness and love. minji didn't understand how one person could make her so happy, just like y/n didn't understand how one person could make her feel like she was capable of doing something right.
this was it.
the younger girl nodded, grabbing bag on the table. she handed the bag to y/n, praying that her hands didn't tremble.
"i, um," minji could see the velvet boxes as she looked down. "i got you something."
"what?" y/n frowned. "minji, i thought we agreed that we were only going to get one present. you said-"
"i lied."
y/n wanted to refuse. minji had always treated her too kindly, giving her gifts left and right, as if she had all the money in the world. although the older idol never felt indebted to her, she wished minji had thought about herself more.
but the older girl couldn't disappoint minji.
slowly, she opened the bag, reaching for the piece of paper, folded neatly with a heart sticker holding it closed.
y/n couldn't help but smile.
minji and her stickers.
the kim opened the letter, her heart beating out of her chest. she wondered if the girls outside could hear it from where she stood, or if minji, standing in all her beauty, could hear it too.
y/n shook her head, taking a deep breath as she began to read.
unnie, i'm not good with words, but i don't know how else to express this. i love you so much. whether you're a kim or not, whether you're mine or not, i'll always try my hardest to make you smile. i hope you carry this ring and know that it's a piece of me. i hope that when you look at it, you'll be reminded of all my love, and not who i was before. i promise to love you for as long as i can. - kim minji.
y/n could feel the air escaping from her lungs.
she glanced at minji, grabbing a singular box with her initials engraved on it. she opened it, the gold shining into her eyes.
it was simple, just how she liked it, but it was intricate enough to be special.
y/n loved it, just how she loved minji.
"are these...?"
promise rings. y/n didn't have to finish her sentence for minji to understand.
"yes." minji whispered, her voice slightly shaking. "they are."
y/n threw her arms around her girlfriend, tears streaming down her face as she felt the younger girl pull her impossibly closer.
"i love you." y/n had never felt it more in that moment.
"i love you too." minji smiled.
y/n pulled back, watching as minji grabbed the box in her hand, taking the ring and placing it onto the older girl's hand.
"i promise to always love you."
minji had never lied to y/n in her life, and she wasn't going to start now.
"i promise to always love you too."
y/n wasn't honest from the start, but she knew this time it was different. y/n could feel it in her heart.
minji leaned in this time, feeling the comfort that was her girlfriend. her mouth placed briefly but firmly against the older girl's brought her nothing but happiness.
this was it.
minji didn't mess up.
"happy new year, unnie." minji muttered against her mouth. "thank you for smiling at me."
"happy new year." y/n smiled, placing another soft kiss on minji's lips. "thank you for being the reason for my smile."

Haunted Armor!Polnareff x Reader
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Synopsis: Through a stroke of good fortune, you have been placed in charge of an antique home. The former owners only asked that you kept the relics inside, and you agreed. If only they had mentioned that some of the relics aren't as lifeless as they initially seemed...
TW: Implied character death (not reader’s) Note: reader is GN, no pronouns aside from 'you' are used.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
A/N: Polnareff is SUCH a sad grieving beast, this only felt appropriate for him.
The home that you've come to enjoy for so many months is old, much older than you. It's full of items you're scared to touch for fear of shattering their delicate nature, of spiderwebs that look too beautiful to break and rooms that you haven't even stepped foot into. There simply isn't enough time or motivation for you to cover all of that ground, and yet…
And yet you notice small oddities that you can't fully explain away. There's odd clanking in the halls that sounds far too consistent to be the pipes. After all, they only rattle when you draw water from them. The rooms you frequent are miraculously free of dust even though you haven't had the time to drag out the duster and rags yourself. It’s hard to chalk up the cold and pointed breezes as a simple draft, and you swear you’ve seen something glowing out of the corner of your eye more than once - only to disappear when you actually look at it.
Oh, and you can’t ignore the massive elephant in the room.
More specifically, the massive suit of armor.
Upon first entering the house, it looked like an odd decoration but hardly one you could complain about. Old houses have weird decorations, right? It made you feel like you were walking into a murder mystery set but your attention was so set on moving in that you didn’t think much of it. It looked regal and mysterious enough to make you ponder over its relevance though. The original owners never mentioned it, did they? There’s no plaque to reveal who may have donned it, who it may have shielded or when. You shrug and decide you’ll research it at a later date.
That later date keeps getting pushed further and further back however. The mysterious old house has its fair share of secrets to keep you distracted - a library packed with dusty old books, a kitchen full of secret panels, not to mention the many, many nooks and crannies you weren’t told of. The only times you ponder about the armor again is when you pass its dulled surfaces in the hallway. It isn’t until you finally decide that a heavy cleaning of the home is in order lest your lungs fill with dust bunnies that the armor finally has your full attention.
How does one clean a suit of armor? You’re not sure. I’s not like it’s been in any books that you’ve read before. A wet rag should at least help with removing the dirt and dust, and you assume that the kind of polish used on metal surfaces in your kitchen could work. It’s a large suit and you know you’ll have your work cut out for you, but something draws you in despite the eeriness of the relic. It feels strange. It feels… Melancholic , somehow. Maybe you’re too wrapped up in the idea that this once belonged to someone, that someone could have lived, breathed, died in those iron plates. Maybe it’s the way the chestplate and helmet have engravings of broken hearts on them that tug at your own heartstrings. Whatever the reason, you feel like it’s your obligation to give this old thing one last hurrah in the way of cleaning it up.
As the rag glides across the faded surface and carries away the countless layers of grime, you start to see the former glory restored. The armor truly does look uncared for, though you aren’t surprised given the state of the house. It only spurs you on as more of that gleaming silver comes to light. There’s so many small details to pay heed to; engravings of hearts and chariots must be carefully detailed, and the sections of overlapping plates require a special amount of focus. At the very least there isn’t any corruption or rusting. It takes hours to clean with the occasional break for refreshments in-between, but pulling away from the now clear (albeit dull) suit sends a wave of relief through you. The low evening sunlight streaking through the stained glass windows of the foyer reflects in a beautiful kaleidoscope on the iron. For just a breath, a brief moment… You could almost swear that the suit of armor is glowing.
The moment passes as the clouds of kicked up dust finally force you to sneeze, and when you look at the armor again the glow is gone. It must have been a trick of the light. With that, you nod and set aside the polish to be done the next day. Perhaps the sheer amount of time or the curiosity that you’ve poured into the armor play a role in why you suddenly feel a sense of longing and connection towards the suit, almost as though you’re leaving an old friend. It’s odd, but you shrug the thoughts away and retire to your room for the evening. The next day will surely be brighter.
Downstairs, the darkness of the dusk is broken by a soft glow.
Weeks pass after your restoration of the armor. The oddities start as subtle movements at first. A hand shifts slightly or the helmet seems to perk in the direction of your favorite armchair; the dust settled around the suit’s base is disturbed, or is it just your imagination? As the house becomes cleaner in more miniscule ways, even that starts to make you wonder if it’s all in your head. You only start to think something is up when you come home from work to find the armor set at the foot of the stairs to the second floor, its gauntlets set against the scabbard of its rapier. It’s not like the suit froze when you entered - you’re sure you would’ve heard the clanking, and it’s just a suit, right? If you weren’t constantly swamped with work you’d almost be afraid of the potential haunting. You know it isn’t some mischievous intruder breaking in just to mess with you; the doors and windows are always the same as they were, and it’s not like anything is missing. There aren’t handbooks on how to deal with haunted houses like this and so you stand in the house’s entranceway, eyes glued to the relic posed mere feet away.
It feels like an eternity that you wait with bated breath for something to happen. When it does, there is no loud scream or rush of metal and pain; no ghastly beasts lunge for your throat, and as you stand gaping like a fish out of water, you realize that the movement of the armor is almost unnoticeable at first glance.
The visor of the helmet minutely tilts towards you and you know for a fact that gauntleted fingers twitch at the scabbard’s handle. The gig is up. You take one step back, and the armor jerks to face you further. Another step, and the helmet is facing you fully, its hand never leaving the hilt of the razor sharp rapier. The door is closed and solid against your back and you’re certain that this is where you will die.
The clanging of metal grows closer and closer with each step of the suit of armor. Even behind your eyelids - when did they close? - you can’t miss the icy blue glow painting the backs of your eyelids in dim light. Your eyes peel open just enough to witness the armor come to a still before you in its pale glowing glory. The finger guards on the scabbard have lifted away and now the suit stands before you motionless yet again, its gauntlets stiffly held at its side. The icy terror that initially held you in its grasp melts into mute confusion and unease. Why isn’t it attacking you? What could you have done to inspire this thing’s movement? Or…
Has it always been on the move?
Your racing thoughts are interrupted by another sudden jump from the suit of armor, but this one catches you even more off-guard. In one quick and jerky movement, the suit tumbles down onto one iron poleyn, its other knee bent as it bows its helmet before you. You have no idea what to say, what to do as the massive suit freezes yet again. There’s a moving set of armor in front of you. Holy shit , there’s haunted armor in your house.
For a minute, the two of you stay there in frozen time. The armor doesn’t move but it glows and pulsates with faint blue light. You don’t move aside from the slowing rise and fall of your chest. There’s a tension so palpable in the air that it surely could be cut through like butter with a hot knife, but you have no idea what to do or say to your unexpected housemate.
The first noise to break the room isn’t from you. It starts out so quietly that the rush of blood in your ears drowns it out. Slowly and drenched in uncertainty, a noise no louder than a whisper seems to fill the room. There’s a pause, and then the noise again, and again, growing louder with each confused blink it draws from you. The moment that it grows loud enough to register properly to your ears is the moment that you realize that it’s a voice echoing around you. The voice is hoarse and strangely hollow, but it sounds almost like a man. It echoes again from the suit of armor and you realize that it is speaking to you .
“Please… Give me an order.”
The stunned silence plaguing your voice is hard to break. Break it you do, but only because the tide of questions thrashing against your skull threatens to consume you.
“Who are you?
Perhaps the right question would be who it - he - was. You begin to regret not looking up the source of the armor sooner. The voice goes silent and the glow swirls in a mesmerizing miasma of dull silver and ice. Whatever haunts this armor seems to form the strongest beneath its chestplate and helmet, and for the briefest of moments you wonder what you would see beneath the visor. As though it can sense your innate curiosity amidst the waves of confusion and fear, the being raises its helmet a fraction as though it were looking at you. The feeling of eyes becomes strong and yet oh so familiar.
“I am Jean Pierre Polnareff. You have laid claim to this land. I pledge my loyalty to you, to protect you and honor your every word.” The helmet drops again and the regal being donned in iron waits ever so patiently for your words. With its hand on its scabbard and that plasmic echo fading in and out like a heartbeat, it truly bears the visage of a noble warrior.
Okay, what the hell are you supposed to do about this?
There’s a fucking ghost knight in your house.
After a very rational and intense moment of thinking on the matter, you do the only thing that sounds right when confronted with such a ghostly specter. It doesn’t matter that it hasn’t made a move to harm you. You reach behind you, feeling around until you can grab the doorknob to the front entrance. You throw open the heavy door before hauling ass into the chilly night air, refusing to look back once lest the point of a rapier be the last thing you see.
You’ll find a hotel or stay with a friend for now. There’s no way in hell that you’re going back to your house, no way that you’re reenacting some stupid horror movie scene.
You go back to the house two days later.
Maybe it’s the twinge of pain in your shoulder and neck from sleeping on an uncomfortable futon. Maybe it’s the reminiscing that you’ve had time to do on the whole matter. You’ve never felt unsafe in the house; melancholy, sure, pensive if you stood in the right spot. You never felt afraid though, so why is the memory of the one that called himself Polnareff lingering in your mind?
The old home looms over you as the gray skies threaten to douse you in rain. Despite the being that you know lurks inside, the building itself doesn’t feel ominous. It feels like a rundown old manor and you can’t come up with a good reason to avoid going in any longer. The stone steps are slick beneath your shoes and with a mighty groan, the door swings forward into the foyer.
You aren’t really sure what you expected. Images of torn tapestries and broken mirrors came to your mind at first, like a raging beast rampaging in a bout of anger. The light of the day floods the foyer, and you breathe a sigh of relief to see that there is no such damage. As a matter of fact… There is no sign of the suit of armor at all. It isn’t at its base in the middle of the foyer. You know you should be on high alert, but the lack of surprises lulls you ever so slightly.
It feels silly to call out for another person in your own house, so you decide to take your chances and look around instead.
The den is free of the suit. You find yourself oddly disappointed.
The kitchen likewise lacks any spectral beings, and so too does the rest of the first story.
The memory of the first time that you saw the armor moving towards the staircase comes to mind, and your eyes travel up and along the mahogany banister towards the silent second story. If there were anywhere that your unassuming houseguest would be, you have a strong suspicion of its intended destination.
The doors to the library creak open as you peer inside and to your unexpected relief, a flash of iron catches your eyes. You push further in to be greeted by the broad, shining form of the suit of armor. Its helmet has tilted slightly back as though to acknowledge you but it has not moved. That glow remains but it is more dull than last time, the colors barely touching the dusty books and desk it stands in front of. That acknowledgment is all that you need and you take a deep breath of the stale air.
“I’m… Sorry. Sorry for how I acted last time. I wasn’t expecting you and I was scared, so I ran.” It’s an apology you never felt that you would make, but it feels wrong to leave things as they were. This thing has likely been here longer than you have been alive; the aura of sadness and mournful longing around it tinges your heart in a way you never expected.
The armor turns to look at you further with a set of clangs and you catch a glimpse of what its broad form was hiding. You haven’t had time to get a good look at the library beneath all of the blankets of dust, but the crest hanging on the wall is one you don’t recognize. The symbols of hearts and horse-drawn chariots bear a striking resemblance to the engravings on the knight’s armor. You startle as you realize that the very same insignia was on the paperwork that you signed to properly take ownership of this house.
The suit turns fully to face you and you swallow down your nerves. This could either go really well or really poorly based on how good you are at offending ghosts.
Its visor tilts to one side, then the other. It takes a step forward, and this time you stay where you are willingly rather than freezing in fear. Another step is taken. Another. By the time that your distorted face is reflected in the large breastplate of the armor, you realize just how cold the room has gotten around you. That visor leans down to look at you and you look up into it as icy tendrils of mist curl from beneath the edges. When the gauntlets reach up and towards you, it’s a miracle that you don’t feel fear. All that you feel is the strong wave of melancholy that you first felt upon stepping into this house, and you wonder just what this soul has suffered to exude such strong feelings of sadness.
The gauntlets do not reach for you, though they do briefly cradle your own hands in chilled metal before continuing upwards. The guarded fingers come to rest at the edges of the visor. Tendrils of ghostly energy curl at the iron knuckles, and it freezes like that. It’s as though it’s waiting for your order. With a flashback to the last meeting, you blink away crystals of iced tears that you didn’t even realize had appeared and answer its unspoken question.
“Show me your face. I want to see the knight of this house.”
You aren’t sure what to expect. There are no rules that could have prepared you, no pictures or carvings or films. The glide of the visor up and into the iron helmet is silent as it reflects the light. Whoever this man was, he is nothing like you expect, and that’s a pity because he is refined and elegant and somber in the way that only a lost soul can be.
Your hand shakes as you reach towards the visor. Crystals of ice gather on your fingertips as your eyes roam over the misty face of the man that once was. Sad eyes like faded seaglass stand out amidst shadows of sharp cheekbones and shroud-like silver hair that dances like spider silk in the wind. He speaks of tragedy and heartbreak without saying a word, and the brush of your fingers on the frigid iron of his helmet finally breaks what fear remains in your heart.
“You’ll protect me?” The words are barely a whisper, but you don’t have it in you to speak any louder.
The ghost - Polnareff - nods. Somber as he may be, you swear that the corner of his lips turns up for just a moment. That air of melancholy lifts ever so slightly from your heart, the glow of the being before you so much more vivid than before.
“I swear to you, as is my purpose. You’ll never be alone.”

P.S. : With the notable advent of 'web series' format, which are more or less 4-5 time length films, Indies has decided to incorporate them as such, in all film categories too, though their number isn't large enuf to warrant a separate web award.

2019 ---
Hello friends! We meet again, as we do every end of year, to celebrate & reward the art of the year!
Yes, I remember stating last time that it may be the last edition of, “India’s Oscars” as I’ve heard many call it…yet, since Indie’s resolved ‘Indies All-time Hindis’ List taking more time than envisaged (100 Years of Hindi cinema, is bloody long!), decided that since movie reviewing happening incessantly (alongside other ‘living exigencies’ of course) anyway, as also for the current year.. what the heavens!!;
So here we go, tighten your seat belts, as we go for a little flying tour through the year’s national artistic clouds…& be assured plenty rains!
P.S. 1. A few alterations & additions from last year – 3 new categories introduced to encourage the film writing fraternity, namely Best screenplay, Best Lyrics, & Best Scene. And erstwhile ‘Best Designed Film’ renamed as ‘Best Visual Film’.
The award format albeit, same as refurbished from last year ie 10 main awards (incl joint awards) & 10 spl mentions thereafter in each category.
Considering the new format addition to films- The web series phenomena! Hereon, all film categories will auto-include web-series(seasons) for the year, looking at them as 4-5 times length films-in-one.
A separate 'Best Web Series' category will also be included though, for added perspective. No crying now. No guffawing. Erm Ok do that! & Nooo hitttting. Just pure unadulterated enjoying!

X) BEST SCENE :
1.Romeo Akbar Walter: Climax scene: Culminating in “He chose his motherland over his own mother!” To Vande Mataram reverberations!
The mini-battle btwn the measly 40-odd peasantry folk led by Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, guarding the provincial fort, against the mighty full British batallion.
Avuku Raju, the almost certain local traitor, at end of above battle, when comes behind the fleeing British, & to surprise of initially depressed village folk, turns against the British. And at the end comes across to Sye & says, "I always disliked you, Narasimha. For you were always better than me at everything I was good at. Narasimha chuckles Avuku: "But rest assured, I will go ahead of you, in this great noble path that is your's….one day!" To chants of "SYE SYE SYE RAA!!"
Narasimha Reddy's final speech at the gallows.
Uri-The Surgical Strike: The War Cry : “How’s The Josh!?”
Hope you folks had a great year enjoying the year's arts, & life in art… And wish you all a Great New Year 2020 up ahead!
Welcome to the Annual Bollywood Films & Web Series Awards, for the year 2020, all! Aptly described as ARGUABLY THE GREATEST YEAR FOR THE HINDI PARALLEL AND ALTERNATE CINEMA MOVEMENT!
Upon a slew of extraordinary stand-out super low budget gems, noted for remarkably gripping direction, as also in coming -of -age for the new King of Indian parallel cinema- Nawaz Siddiqui!…finally stepping up to carry the parallel film mantle, left & long voided by Naseeruddin Shah, with 3 extraordinary Indies in the yr!
As also rare achievement in this, the Ashes Era, for any film among the ~50-odd nominated, to mention this year's winner in particular, entering Indies All-Time Top 100! And a web series, finding pride of place, in Top 305 All-Time (combined)!
Furthermore, that web series era, gaining firm ground from previous yr, now coming to establish itself as space for true artistic inspiration & even gung ho chutzpah, behind as well as ahead of camera, allowing newer talent, & older divas, the space to rise up to the big screen/item challenge, differently, & in grand style & success!
P.S. : 1.Let be noted, though most widely reviewed & buzzed web series, been viewed & accommodated justiciably, a reasonable sum hasn't, for this already highly overworked team of Annual & All-Time film reviewers & compilers..& will be done justice to, if & when need arise!
Also, though Best film , Best Web Series & Best Screenplay (Film), been segregated, at the Indies, all other award categories, incl acting & directing haven't, going with Indie policy of treating Web Series (seasons) as quadruple-length films, deserving equal comparison, in technical if not effect zones!
Let's roll!

2021-
Welcome world, to another Year-End Awards Extravaganza.. "THE INDIES 2021", aka "THE INDIES ASHES 2021", also reputed as "THE BOLLYWOOD/HINDI OSCARS" !
Another highly satisfying year for both the Film & Web-Series spaces, operating for past half decade now within the Bollywood ecosystem.
The rating pts for era-ending director & actor rankings are as always : 1st place - 10.5 pts ; 2nd place - 4.7 pts ; 3rd place - 1.5 pts ; 4th place - 0.4 pts.
Also as always, just to remind Indie viewers, while Best Web Series & Best Film arenas are separate adjudications, being different effect zones… the creative aspects (ie direction & visuals & story & acts) are clubbed together, as the same for both.
And need we remind audiences of the age-old Indie motto, of rewarding quality not quantity, this year as a result producing one of the highest winners tallies at Indies, with 21 male & 14 worthy female performances, making the cut for the Indie Trophy!
This year noteworthy for producing some really outstanding performances even within the macho acting sphere, alongside some truly slice-of-life high professionals acting, alongside the inspirational orbit.
In films section, a peculiar time, in throwing up lots in really interesting & notable (even Indies award winning now!) 'Indie' work, lauded in the festival & international circuit, yet under the Indian masses radar, that hopefully the Indies Awards can help throw more light on. Also via web series arena, arising a critical mass of high concept content, necessitating a separate 'Best Story/Screenplay' Awards section!
P.S. : A peculiar trend emerging in Bollywood circles, for those keeping a keen eye on it, is the slew of (~ 50-70%) content equally dedicated to the LGBTQ, esp lesbian community & secondly the druggie communities. We'll leave it to the audiences to imagine if the truth lay in art imitating life or film industry life, or some sorta larger agenda at play. And ofcourse there be nothing wrong at all, in any content on LGBTQ community whatsoever, just an observation worthy of mention, given just its scale of representation!
So let's begin unravelling Bollywood 2021, per the Indie eye, now ! ! !

Wordpress blogpost for "The Indies 2021" !:
……….
And that's how 2021 ends for our esteemed & deeply evolving digital audiences, old & young alike !
So stay tuned for more Indie research into this hitherto uncharted tract, already more than halfway complete along it's gigantic mission !
Shabba Khair, Khuda Haafiz, Happy New Year, Jai Shri Ram, & Jai Shri Krishna, to you all !
2022-
Welcome one & all, to this, the 8th continuous year of the most prestigious & popular (contemporary) online annual Bollywood Film Awards, of the entire awards season, this whole decade-
The Indies.
NOTE: This year's scrolls, unlike past couple of years, do not include the web series segment, which saw it's boom period during the international pandemic induced lockdown for precisely those 2 years, a consequent dip in big quality film productions & produce, that in turn enabled lotsa screen talent to temporarily shift to the web space with much more confined production settings, causing lot more high quality & novel produce here…a level that's under normal circumstances since, somehow seen a drastic dip in collective work, thus causing Indies to take a call in favor of avoiding that segment entirely hereon, or atleast this year. That's not to say a few good productions may not've seen light of day, yet not enough to warrant a entire dedicated Indies awards show for the same.
As also no turnout worth any reckoning on the music front, putting paid to that space too for today.
A year marked most uniquely by the nationwide boycott of Bollywood films at the box office, done for a variety of reasons we can't precisely put a finger on, yet that had an extraordinary (read crippling) effect on overall Bollywood earnings for the year, yet since we're not in business of awarding business, rather awarding art, let's get back to our sole area of focus.
This year seeing a very strong showing from a few dubbed South Indian works (released in North & West Indian theaters), & few made in multiple languages incl of South, that not only escaped the boycott wrath, but also found favor on the art front here.
Around the same 30-odd films making it to the elite Indie watchlist here, as for most years, & a similar large pool of winners for all categories in keeping with the now worldly known 'no ceiling on quality' Indies philosophy, except the actresses section seeing only one winner after long!
So enjoy the year's best works in all different aspects, & merrily live the month & year away !
Here is your cream of creams!

Divyajyotee Sharma is one of the most popular faces of Television who is known for her typical ‘Aunty’ and comical characters. She has been a part of shows like Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kyunkii...Saas Bhi Kabhi Babu Thi, Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behnaa Hai,? Iccha Pyaari Naagin, Dil Bole Oberoi among others, in mostly comical and some? ?negative roles. Not just Indian, but she’s a part of some international advertisements too.
Her international ad work includes a comical character of ‘Totka’ aunty for a crunchy chicken masala ad for which she’d shot in Bangkok. She also did an ad for ‘Shaan’ masala brand where she played an adorable mother-in-law and had been shot in Malaysia. She has more work in her kitty and is all geared up to bring out each one after the other.
She was also seen in films like - Chalk N Duster and YRF’s Bank Chor.

Tumblr media
You picked up one of the shards of chalk from the pot and began writing the plan for your first lesson whist casually taking bites of the muffin you had quickly swiped from the kitchens earlier. As you wrote you failed to see the body that was standing just inside the door, so when they spoke it startled you, making you break the chalk against the bored
“You misspelled Animagus”
You swivel around eyeing your old friend before turning back to see you indeed spelt it wrong and not only that you also wrote the incantation around the wrong way as well “Bugger” you curse making him let out a small huff of a laugh at you
You pick up the duster and clear the whole board deciding to redo the whole thing but with a spell instead, giggling after you mutter the incantation “There goes trying to add a personal touch” you shrug turning back to him
“You were always a better talker than writer” he notes
“I had to be, have you heard yourself talk? I love you, but your voice is dreadfully boring” you tease crunching up your nose at the end
He rolls his eyes “I was coming to ask if you got breakfast but I see you already stole some” he shakes his head “As per usual”
“It’s technically not stealing anymore, I’m a professor now” you give him a triumphant look as you take a bite
“Hiya Miss” one of the boys from your class strolls in casually but tenses seeing his other professor “Sir” he shakily nods walking quietly over to his desk
Merlin Sev, you’re like their boogieman, you lower your usual ward to let him hear your thoughts to which he gives you a look, almost like he’s proud of how scared the kids are of him before heading to leave “Goodbye Professor Y/l/n” he says formally
“Bye Professor…” Sevy “…Snape” you smile to yourself, you don’t even need to see his face to feel the eye roll “Morning” you turn to greet the boy who seems more like his usual self now Snape has left
He gives you a smile as you take a seat at your desk, observing the rest of the class the pour in looking rather groggy, although it was a Monday morning what did you expect? While you sat pretending to look busy when in reality you were doodling, you let yourself daydream about the man who just left your classroom.
You and Severus had known each other since you were 11, after you just so happened to sit next to each other at the welcome feast in first year. You remembered it well, his miserable face as you were eating dinner, to which you later learned was because he was apart from his current best friend at the time. You hated seeing people sad so at breakfast the next day you sat next to him again and made a little waffle house which managed to make him crack a small smile, from then on out you had joined his and Lily duo becoming an unlikely trio.
Although you were a pureblood you were lucky your parents were quite like the Greengrass’, who taught you not to believe in pure-blooded superiority. As the years passed you grew fond of your best friends, one more than the other, around your 4thyear you developed a crush on him, maybe it was the way his hair had grown out or his growth spurt but your little heart fluttered every time you saw him. Of course, with the flutter came the ache as you watched him tirelessly pine after Lily, the same ache you felt when he gushed to you about how he loved her or cried in your arms when he had lost her to James.
You didn’t mind that she dated James, they made perfect sense together but what you never forgave her for was all those years she led him on. She never had to say it but you knew she was aware of his feelings and fuelled them with every ‘I hate potter’ rant she went on. When he called her a mudblood and left him, you didn’t blame her, in fact you refused to talk to him for almost a month before you finally forgave him, as unlike her you understood the pressure he was under as everyone that wore a green tie did.
As your memories of the man flooded your brain you were brought back to the present by one of your students huffing as they half slammed their bag down as they sat “Ugh I hate him!” she hisses to her friend
You look up with a tilted head “Hate who?” you inquire making her jump and go wide eyed, clearly not thinking you would hear her “Come on, give me the goss it’s been rather dull lately” you say earning small giggles from the class
“Professor Snape just gave me a detention” she huffs as your eyebrows lift, now why doesn’t that surprise me?
“Whatever for?” you question with small smile
“I didn’t even do anything wrong” she complains “I just tripped and hit my funny bone off of the wall and yelp ‘fuck’ in pain”
You start laughing before you remember you are supposed to be professional “Sorry…” you compose yourself “Perhaps I can have a word with him and get you out of that” you throw her a wink to which she smiles before a hand goes up across the room “Yes?”
“Miss, I don’t mean to be rude but how do you work with him, he’s so…” the boy trails off as he tries to word it
“Mean” someone else finishes bluntly
“And scary” another adds
You chuckle “He wasn’t always this grumpy, sadly that trait came with age” you joke rolling your eyes making the students look at you in confusion
“How long have you known him?” one asks
“I was in his year, same house” you explain with a smile
“Wait, you were a Slytherin?” someone asks in complete shock
“Yes” you smirk “Why do I not seem very Slytherin-y” you knew full well you weren’t a typical Slytherin, in fact many would mistake your happy nature for that of a Hufflepuff or your wit for a Gryffindor
“Well you’re just so light and breezy” one answers making the rest of the class nod in agreement
“Yeah you’re like the anti-Snape” that one makes you giggle because it was true, you two were polar opposites yet you worked perfectly
“Plus, you wear a lot of yellow” you turn to look at the boy
“Wear a lot of yellow?” you exclaim, moving your cloak revealing your rather lovey yellow jumper “Where could you have possibly gotten that idea from?” you question with a smirk
The class chuckles before a boy called Caleb speaks up “So what was he like in school?”
“Well he was always a bit doom and gloom but he had his moments” you start smiling “Like one time I managed to convince him to sneak into the kitchens for food or made him throw a dungbomb into the classroom of that bitch of a professor that used to teach Ancient Runes” you shake your head, merlin did you hate that women
The class erupts in laughter before the girl, Tamara, next to Caleb speaks up “You really convinced him to do all that?” she looks at you stunned
“I did bat my eyelashes a bit and give my best puppy eyes…but eventually yeah” you say proudly nodding
“So, were you too ever…you know…more than friends?” Tamara asks hesitantly as the rest of the class leans in
That ache returned as you gave a fake smile to hide the hurt and disappointment which flashed across your face for a mere second “No” you shake your head “We’ve always been friends, nothing more…now” you clap your hands together “Lets teach you troublemakers how to cause more trouble as Animagi”
The sadness in your tone doesn’t go over everyone’s head, Caleb and Tamara pick up on it writing little notes on the margin of the former’s parchment
I think she used to fancy him
You think? Who would want to bone that miserable sod
As you speak you hear a small giggle from Tamara but that was nothing new, her and Caleb were good students so you overlooked the little messages and continued to teach
What if that’s why he’s a miserable sod? He just needs a girl to make him all soft, you heard her she managed to convince him to do all that stuff
We have him tomorrow maybe we could bring her up?
Good plan, hey we are kinda like Emma
Emma?
Like the book Emma from Jane, Tamara sees his confusion crossing it out, never mind she was a matchmaker
Maybe we could match each other up too x
Ew gross

The next day Tamara and Caleb take their seats in class getting there early so they can speak with Snape who was currently sitting at his desk waiting for the rest of the class to slowly filter in
“Sir” Caleb gains his attention
Snape sighs closing his eyes “Yes?” he replies not bothering to look up
“Did you know Miss Y/l/n while you were at school?” he asks watching his professors expressionless face closely, both he and Tamara noting the small upwards twitch of his lips when your name is said
“Yes, we were in the same year” he says plainly
“She told us she was a Slytherin but that doesn’t really make sense” Tamara speaks up, her words making the man glance up at her for a mere second
“She was in Slytherin. I’m sure if you both did your research you would know people are put into houses for the qualities they have and/or values they accept, not their personalities” he says shortly
“So what values does Miss Y/l/n possess that makes her Slytherin instead of say…a Hufflepuff like us?” the boy asks trying his best to claw any kind of emotion from this stone of a man
Snape took a deep breath, if he was being honest even he had doubted why you were in Slytherin to start, hell even Dumbledore had forgotten when he met you again for your interview “Miss Y/l/n is… intelligent, can read people rather well” or a bullshit detector as she would call it “and she’s very determined when he puts her mind to something she will always succeed”
The young duo listen intently, noticing his usual monotone voice is a little lighter than before, as well as the corners of his lips turning up as he spoke about you, as he finishes he returns to his cold exterior once more “Enough questions, if you asked these many questions in class many both of you would actually pass”
The two students nod quickly, taking the rather direct hint allowing him to go back to his writing, while he mindlessly grades papers letting his body go into autopilot his mind wanders. When he first saw you, it was at the welcome feast in his first year whilst he was rather upset he still remembered you cheering him up the next day. He always liked that you never prodded or forced him to say why he was so sad that night, the reason of course was Lily, it wasn’t that she shouldn’t have been in Gryffindor, or that there was anything wrong with it, but it was the fear that the house difference would eventually tear them apart
He remembered your happy expression as you tried to introduce yourself, you seemed too light to be in Slytherin, it was like there was no darkness in your heart at all. This was proved right time and time again, you were one of the few people that could actually make him crack a smile and fewer who could make him laugh out loud. As time went on his feelings for Lily kept growing, she was his first love, the love he wanted returned more than anything, he would have done anything to have her. As for you, he trusted you most, you were a constant that made him feel safe and if he was being honest with himself, you were his best friend.
He didn’t blame you for not talking to him after he slashed out at Lily, nor did he blame her after he had calmed down, he just was so embarrassed after James had embarrassed him publicly, in front of her for the umpteenth time. He was miserable for that month you didn’t talk to him, so much he took Barty and Evan up on their offer to drink his sorrows one night, which was how he stumbled his way up to your dorm and begged for you to be his friend again. Back then his drunken self was adamant on going to you and only you, the redhead never crossing his mind in that moment, of course he never worked out why that was until he was much older.
You, much to his delight, forgave him but not before you gave him a good telling. During those years he knew now he didn’t appreciate you enough, nor did he treat you the way you deserved. It wasn’t until after Hogwarts he ran into someone from school who asked if you and he were still together, apparently everyone, even Lily and James, thought you both were an item at one point. The conversation made him final see it, every fake smile, every twinge of disappointment, every little glint of heartbreak in your eye, and how he had broken your heart over and over again
He knew missed his chance with you, too busy pinning hopelessly after another to see you were there and so much better for him that Lily ever was. She brought out his obsessive, jealous, darker side while you made him feel safe, light and sure of himself. You both still kept in touch after Hogwarts but through letters as you decided to travel for a bit and during those years apart he missed you dearly. Eventually he did reconcile with Lily, even becoming Godfather to her second child.
He was offered the position as potions master a few years before you took the job as McGonagall’s teaching assistance and then offered a full-time position. When he saw you again you were all grown up, yet personality wise you were exactly the same and his stomach filled with the familiar butterflies he used to feel around Lily accept these were much stronger. He was sure your crush was long gone by now and he thought maybe his would dissipate with time however he was wrong, as the crush faded away it turned into something else, love but a pure untainted one this time
As his mind returned to the class room and he began the lesson, two makeshift matchmakers were scheming
He likes her, you saw this face that’s the first time I’ve seen him show a positive emotion
Okay now we know she fancies him and he fancies her so we need to get them together, they sit in thought for a minute, any ideas?
None, you?
Not one, lets meet tonight and think x
Okay but this isn’t a date
Of course doll, call it anything you want ©
You’re an arse
Love you t       , Tamara pulls the parchment away from him and shoves it in her bag

Over the next weeks you and Severus kept running into each other more often, both called to the some disaster or emergency that was 9 times out of 10 not even happening, once you both ended up locked in the store room together. Tamara and Caleb were running out of ideas, clearly their idea to make you spend more time together alone wasn’t working. Neither one of you was going to confess this way and with Snape’s ability to use non-verbal magic and their locking skills rather obsolete, they couldn’t lock you in a room long enough. They were going to have to think of something big and that something big happened to be a little bit of paper
You sauntered into Severus’ classroom, his last class of the day had ended so you decided to annoy him until it was time for dinner. Walking up and around his desk you hopped onto it, patiently waiting for him to finish the paper he was grading. He didn’t need to look up to know it was you, besides he’d recognise your perfume anywhere. He quickly finished what he was writing, placing his quill carefully to the side before he looked up at you, you were smiling away as you absentmindedly looked over all of the potions displayed on the wall.
His class room was always very dark and dingy, but the light reflected off of the glass vials and your presence brought life into it. You looked pretty like that, little crinkles at your eyes as your let your legs swing almost childlike from his desk, he couldn’t help but smile a little.
Almost feeling his eyes, you turn your head and look down at him happily “Done?” you ask
“Almost” he sits back in his chair, back achy from grading terrible papers for the last few hours whilst the class had private study for their upcoming exams
You nod “How about you take a break for a bit, it’s almost dinner anyway” you convince him but little did you know he’d probably do anything you said, within reason of course, if you asked him to kill someone he’d question it a bit first, it’s you though, you’d most likely have a good reason to commit murder
What are you thinking about Sevy? You leave your thoughts open and unguarded
Snape let out a small laugh, he had taught you how to shield your thoughts from legilimens like him, and much like a lot of things you used it for comedic purposes, like the times you would think funny things or images to make him laugh in class which you still did now as professor but at teacher meetings instead, but you also used it for general conversation like this or to check on him from afar
“I’m thinking you’re right” he stands up, closing his eyes as he stretches missing the way. your eyes trail over him before returning to his face as he reopens them “Would you like to…” he stops spotting something on the floor
Your eyebrows knit together “What is it?” you ask watching curiously as he walking over and picks up a fallen piece of parchment
Snape huffs as he picks it up, unfolding it as he expects this must he someone’s notes or homework but is greeted with yes notes from his class but also a conversation in the margin
Tumblr media
You really think she still fancies him?
Miss Y/l/n?
Yeah duh
You heard her when she was talking about him in class it’s obvious
You think he likes her?
Maybe?
We should ask her more tomorrow she seemed to cut the conversation short and get a bit upset when we asked if they were a couple
Tumblr media
You watched his mouth part in shock as he read it and you could swear you could see an actual dusting of blush on his cheeks “What’s so interesting?” you ask startling him out of his daze “Come on what’s the gossip?” you hop off of the desk and walk up to him attempting to grab the parchment but he rips it away folding it “Hey!”
“Umm” he tries to find the words “It’s nothing of interest just some…” he pauses thinking of something “…inappropriate drawings”
You tilt you head starting to laugh at your friend’s embarrassment “Well now you have to show me” you look at him with an amused smile “Come on, gimmie” you make grabby hands at the piece of paper
Your words barley register, mind too busy running around with the fantasy of you and him together, a fantasy until now he hadn’t let himself hope could become reality. Could you really still like him, even love him after all this time?
“Sev?” he turns back to look at you who still has their hand out waiting for him to give it over but now as a concerned pout “I swear if they’ve said anything bad about you I’ll dye their robes pink, they’ll never know it was me” you put your hands up defensively as you try to make him laugh to which you succeed
He places the piece of paper down on the desk behind him before turning back to you with a look you had never seen before. His eyes filled with something you’d only ever imagined in your head, Sev? You think but he moves a little closer making you back up until you hit the desk behind you. Letting out a gasp as your hands reach back to grip the edge of the table, watching your friend closely, what are you doing?
His body is barley inches from yours as he looks down at you looking up at him confused yet with soft eyes “Something I should have done a very long time ago” he leans forward a little
You gulp a little as he edges closer, are we going to…, you think as your noses are mere millimetres from touching
“Yes” he breaths out as he captures your lips, it’s gentle, tender at first before you begin to melt into him, as you do his hands find their way over yours as he deepens the kiss
After a few mind-blowing seconds your kiss is interrupted by the sound of a door hitting the wall making Severus step away from you quickly, chest heaving a he tries to compose himself, turning away to walk back to his desk letting you deal with it.
You turn to two familiar students, letting out a chuckle as you see Tamara hitting Caleb as he must have been the one to cause the small ruckus “Can I help you?” you say with a smile plastered on your face living off of the high that the love of your life just kissed you
“Sorry Miss…we…” Caleb seems to struggle to find a good excuse to Tamara steps up to his rescue
“I left some of my notes here” she explains
You nod, eyeing Severus who has his head down pretending to work before walking over to the table and picking up the parchment holding it up “This it?” the girl nods as you unfold it quickly scanning the contents before you approach and hand it over “Thank you” you whisper to both of them making them grin “But please keep this to yourself until we tell Professor Dumbledore” you ask
“Yes miss” “Of course” they reply quickly taking their leave and looking rather proud of themselves before Caleb attempts to slip his hand into her which causing her to swat it away playfully before actually taking it
You close the door to the classroom, letting out a small giggle as you turn back to Severus who has finally looked up, his bright red cheeks slowly fading. You head back to the desk, standing in front of his chair as he swivels it out and around to look at you, watching with furrowed eyebrows as you take your wand out and mutter spell on the door to lock it
“What are you doing” he tilts his head, corners of his lips turning up as he the mischief in your eye
“Something I’ve been dreaming of doing for a long time …and…” you glide your fingers over the edge of his desk while swaying noticing his eyes scanning over your motions “…something I may have fantasized about the moment I saw you behind this desk for the first time” you confess, tugging your lip between your teeth
“And what would that be?” he eyes you
“This” you say shortly as you plop yourself on his lap, legs straddling his own
You giggle at his eyes going comically wide for a moment before his hands go to steady your hips as your own settle on his chest playing with the edge of his robes “You could take me on a date first” he jests making you make a false shocked expression
“Professor Snape! I am a classy girl get those dirty thoughts out of your…mhm” your cut off by one of his hands leaving your hip to pull your jaw in for a kiss
As you pull apart you see him grinning “I like this” he notes
“I should hope so” you mutter pouting
“Of course I like this” he squeezes your hips “I meant I like that I finally have a way to shut you up”
“You little…mhm” he cuts you off with a kiss making you pull back “Hey you can’t just…” he does it again “…kiss me…” and again “…to shut me…” yet again “…fuck it” you concede letting your hands glide up into his hair as his pull you closer by the waist
After a few minutes you break away to catch your breaths, I’ve loved you since we were 15, you confess taking one of his hands off your hip and clasping your own around it, looking down at them as you rub little circles with your thumbs
He smiles as his heart flutters using his free hand to tilt your head back up as he leans you’re his forehead against yours, I love you too, more than you could ever imagine, and I’m sorry for taking so long to realise you were always the one for me, always
You smile brightly as you hear his words in your mind, words you had been dreaming about hearing for so long, nudging your nose with his as your reply, you were always worth the wait, always, he smiles nudging his own nose with yours before capturing your lips once more

Love of my Life - (2) New Guy
Tumblr media

Warnings: None that I can think of.
Word Count: 3429
Series Masterlist
_____________________________________________________________
“Hello?” You could hear Sam answer his phone from the living room. You were in the kitchen cleaning up. You, Sam and Bobby had a deal that whoever didn’t cook meals had to clean up after. Sam had made the both of you grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup for a warm lunch on a chilly January afternoon. “Oh, hey Bobby, how did your hunt go?” A few seconds passed and then you heard Sam mutter, “Yeah, sure. We’ll be ready when you get here. How far away are you?” He walked into the kitchen, still on the phone, with a concerned look on his face. You gave him the what’s going on look and he held up his finger and said his goodbyes to Bobby.
“What happened, is Bobby okay?” You pressed.
“Yeah, he’s fine. He said that he met another hunter who was working the case, so they teamed up. I guess the new guy saved Bobby’s bacon and got pretty beat up. Bobby’s bringing him back here to get him all healed up. He said it was the least he could do. He asked if we could get the spare room cleaned out and ready.”
After days of researching for Bobby’s case, you had discovered it was yet another Greek god with another vendetta or unfinished business or whatever. Blah, blah, blah. It was getting repetitive at this point, but gods were always tricky to deal with. You were just glad to hear Bobby was okay and that someone was there to help him out.
“What happened? Do we know if he’s badly hurt?” You wondered.
“All Bobby said was that he doctored him up as much as he could. They aren’t far from here now.”
“Okay, I’ll go get the room ready.” You wiped your hands off on a dish towel and headed upstairs. You stripped the sheets off the bed and threw them in the washer, putting a set of new ones on. The room hadn’t been used in a long time. You and Sam were crashing there in 2 of the other spare bedrooms, but this one was pretty dusty from sitting idle all this time. After clearing out boxes of old books from the closet, you grabbed a duster and went over everything.
“They’re here!” Sam yelled from downstairs. “I’m gonna go help him inside.”
You ungracefully shoved your cleaning stuff into a bucket, then quickly sprayed a little air freshener to try and mask the smell you could only describe as “old”. You could hear voices coming closer down the hall. You grabbed your supplies and walked them to the bathroom to put them away. Their conversation was easily heard through the thin walls.
“Alright, here’s where you can crash.” Sam said as he helped the new guy into the room and sat him down on a chair in the corner. “You really took a beating, huh?” Sam gave him a sympathetic smile. “I don’t think I caught your name, by the way.”
“I’m Nick.” He reached his hand out to shake Sam’s but didn’t make it all the way before he winced and grabbed his ribs.
“Well Nick, thanks for saving Bobby back there. He said he wouldn’t have made it out of that one if it weren’t for you. I’m Sam.”
“Sam, like as in Sam Winchester?” Nick raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah, you’ve heard of me?”
“Buddy, I wasn’t born yesterday. Every hunter who knows what they’re doing has heard of you and your brother.” You heard Nick say as you walked into the room and leaned against the door frame. He turned to look at you and straightened his posture in the chair as much as he could. He gave you a little half smile and blinked a few times as he managed to say, “Wow, uh, hey, hi…”
His stammering made you laugh a little. “I overheard you boys talking. You’re Nick, right?” He nodded. “Well, anyone who saves Bobby Singer is a friend of ours. I’m Y/N.”
“Beautiful name for a beautiful girl.” Nick winked and gave you a cheeky grin which quickly turned into a grimace. He was definitely in pain. He was covered in mud stains and blood. His ankle was bent the wrong way and he had bloodied bandages wrapped around his bicep and thigh. But through all that, you couldn’t help but notice that he was surprisingly handsome. He had sandy blonde hair and striking blue eyes. Most of the hunters you met looked like truckers or smelled like dumpsters.
“Don’t even try man, she could kick your ass 3 different ways before you knew what hit you.” Sam joked. “I’m going to let Y/N take it from here. She’s better at the doctor thing than I am. I’ll go grab your bags and bring them up.”
“Why don’t we see what we can do about some of that bleeding.” You grabbed the first aid kit from on top of the dresser and walked over to him. “Can I?” You motioned to the bandage on his arm, and he nodded. You peeled away the layers to find a nasty looking gash. “Geez…” You whispered. “So, I can stitch you up, but it’s going to hurt pretty bad.”
“I’m no wussy. Do what you gotta do.” Nick looked up at you and for half a second you caught yourself studying his ocean eyes, but you looked away quickly and grabbed the sanitizing alcohol. “This will probably hurt the most. Sorry.” You dumped some on his wound and he clenched in pain and closed his eyes, letting a big exhale escape through his nose. You threaded your needle and began to stitch his cut closed. You had done this many times before and with Sam and Dean and liked to think you were decent. But you knew the key was distraction.
“So, where are you from?” You asked.
“Not really from anywhere. I grew up like a lot of hunters did. On the road with my dad and uncle, learning tricks of the trade as we went. What about you?”
“Well, I was born in Arizona, but my family was killed when I was six. I spent my life bouncing between hunters until I could drive. Then I went out on my own.”
“I’m sorry about your family.” His sympathy caught you off guard. Most hunters couldn’t care less about others.
“Thank you, but we all have our sob story. No one chooses to be a hunter just for kicks and giggles”
“Man, I’ve heard some crazy stories about those Winchester brothers.” Nick gave a small laugh. “It’s weird to actually meet one of them in person. What happened to Dean? I thought he and Sam were inseparable.”
You sighed and your heart dropped like it always did when his name was mentioned. “He actually got out of the hunting life. He lives close to here, stops by to check on us every once in a while.”
“I’d love to meet him. All I’ve heard is how badass he is. Like the ultimate hunting machine.”
“Well, you call him badass, I call him dumbass.”
“Hah! You guys close?”
“Not as close as we used to be. Sam and I try to keep him out of the hunting life as much as we can. He helps with research every now and then but hasn’t been out on a case in a while.” You finished your last stitch. “Your arm is all done but looks like we need to take care of this one as well.” You pointed down to his leg. “Do you care if I just cut your pant leg off? This pair looks like a goner anyway.”
“You can take my pants off anytime you want.” Nick smirked at you.
“I’m going to chalk that up to the loss of blood and pretend you didn’t say that. Keep in mind, I’m the one with the needle here.” You held up the long needle as you threaded it with a clean suture and gave him your best don’t go there face.
Nick reminded you a strange amount of the Dean of old. Handsome, but in a different way, snarky, and seemed like the kind of guy who flirted with any and every girl he could find. You couldn’t lie to yourself and say you didn’t like the attention he was giving you. Part of you still wished it were Dean giving you that attention though.
You finished up and started to pick up the bloody bandages off the floor. “I’m going to go get Sam and he can help you get into the shower. I think we need to take you to the doctor for your ankle though. Looks broken to me.”
“Damn, I was hoping to avoid the hospital. I don’t suppose you know how to set a broken ankle?” He looked at you hopefully.
“You’re outta luck, sorry.” You shrugged and began to head out the door.
“Y/N?” Nick stopped you before you left, and you turned to face him. “Thank you.” You shot him a smile and a nod before heading downstairs to find Sam.
After Sam had helped Nick wash all the blood off of himself, you two had taken him to the hospital where they set his ankle and gave him some pain killers for the broken ribs. Sam had gotten him upstairs and into bed and you brought some food up for him.
“Here you go, a Singer specialty.” You placed a tray with Bobby’s chili on his lap and handed him the remote to the ancient box tv.
“What makes it so special?” Nick asked, stirring the chili skeptically.
“If you ask Bobby, he’ll say it’s a secret family recipe, but I’ve been around long enough to know that the real magic happens when he dumps it from the can into the pot.” Nick laughs as you get his food situated so it won’t spill. “I brought you in some movies if you want to watch them. Mostly Dean’s old western tapes. We’re in short supply of variety.”
“Thank you. But I do have to say, I feel a little uncomfortable having you guys help me this much. I’m usually a strictly independent person…”
“We all need a little help sometimes.” You were actually glad that Nick was here. It gave you something to keep your mind off of Dean. “I’m in the room next to yours, just bang on the wall if you need anything.”
“Goodnight, Y/N. I owe you one.” He flashed his tired smile at you, and you returned the gesture.
“Night, Nick.”
You woke the next morning to find Sam’s car gone. You figured he was at the gym or swung by Dean’s house for something. You headed into the kitchen and started on making breakfast. The cupboards were pretty empty, but you knew there was always pancake mix around somewhere. You whipped up a few cakes with a side of scrambled eggs. When you were done, you headed up to Nick’s room to see how he was doing. You knocked softly, careful not to wake him if he was still sleeping. A few seconds passed with no response, so you cracked the door open and saw him dead asleep with the half-eaten bowl of chili still on his lap and the tv crackling with black and white static. This made you chuckle a little. You tiptoed over to him and gently lifted the tray off his lap to take with you downstairs and turned off the television.
The rest of the morning was spent looking for cases in the papers and online, but you didn’t have much luck. You gave up after a while when you heard a boot clomping down the stairs, letting you know that Nick was on his way.
“Morning, sunshine!” Nick pronounced and winked at you as he walked in the room.
“It’s 2 in the afternoon, lazy bones.” He laughed a little and sat down in the chair across from you. “How are you feeling?”
“Better than I was yesterday, that’s for sure.”
“I bet you’re hungry.”
“Starved, actually.” He placed a hand on his stomach.
“Do you feel up for going out and grabbing a bite? We’re short on supplies here, but I know a great little diner just a few miles into town. Mel’s.”
“That sounds amazing! I could really go for a great big cheeseburger right now.” Look at that, yet another similarity to Dean. You could swear this was the universe playing a cruel joke on you.
“Sam’s not here and Bobby’s holed up in his room, so it’s just you and me. Hope that’s ok.”
“More than fine with me.” He flirted. “Our first date!”
“Whatever. Come on, gimpy.” You helped him up out of the chair and led him out the door and towards your car.
You had actually really enjoyed your late lunch with Nick. It was nice to get to know someone new and you were surprised at how well the two of you got along. You usually butted heads with other hunters, but Nick was pretty easy going and had a good sense of humor.
A little while later, you pulled back into the driveway of Bobby’s house to see both Sam and Dean’s cars in the driveway.
“Wow, that’s a beauty of a car.” Nick remarked as the two of you walked past the Impala.
“Don’t touch it. That’s Dean’s baby. He’ll kill you if you scratch it.” You warned as you walked into the house.
Dean quickly rushed at you as soon as you opened the door and pulled you into a bear hug. “Y/N where the hell have you been?! I’ve been calling you over and over! No one knew where you were! Don’t scare me like that!”
“What? We were just in town. We haven’t even been gone 2 hours…” You pulled out your phone to check for his missed calls but found it to be dead.
“We?” Dean interrogated. Nick walked in a few steps behind you and Dean glared at him. “Who the hell are you?” He instinctively pulled you behind him.
"Whoa, whoa easy there tiger." You put your hand on Dean's arm and he looked at you, with questioning eyes. "That's Nick. Didn’t Sam tell you? He saved Bobby's ass on their last hunt and got pretty beat up in the process. Bobby brought him back here to heal up a bit."
"And you're what, just hanging out with some hunter you barely know? He could be a psychopath! You know better than this!"
You couldn't help but roll your eyes and feel annoyed at Dean’s over-protectiveness. "He's got a broken ankle, bruised ribs, and massive gashes on his arm and leg. You really think I couldn't handle him if I needed to?"
Dean kept his eyes on Nick the whole time, looking him up and down, trying to get a read on him. Bobby slammed the door of his room and walked out to the commotion. "Would you idjits keep it down out here? I could hear every word of this stupid conversation!" Bobby looked to Dean who was clearly still in defense mode. "Oh, pull the stick out, Dean. The kid literally saved my life. He's harmless."
It took Nick a few seconds to process the situation. He walked over to Dean and reached his hand out. "It's an honor to meet you, Dean. I look up to you a lot. You’ve got some great people here; they’ve been nothing but nice to me and I’d never do anything to hurt them.”
Dean was clearly expecting him to say anything but that, and reluctantly shook his hand. You wished you had a camera to take a picture of look on Dean's face. Priceless.
"I hate to break up the fan fest, but what are you doing here, boy?" Bobby questioned Dean. "Not that I ain't happy to see you, but you haven't been around here much lately."
“I, uh, was going to see if Y/N wanted to hit up Mel’s. I’m starved.” Dean looked at you for an answer.
“Nick and I were actually just there…” You felt a bit guilty, but you didn’t know that Dean was even planning on coming over today. “I’m sure Sam would go with you. I haven’t seen him yet today, but it sounds like he’s up in his room.”
“Oh, okay.” Dean looked dejected but nodded and headed towards the staircase.
Dean kind of knocked on Sam’s door as he walked in.
“Uh, sure, come on in.” Sam gave Dean a glare as he folded clothes and organized them neatly on his bed.
“I knocked. You want to go grab some food, Sammy?”
“Yeah, sure. I’m almost done here.”
Dean walked further inside and over to the dresser to fiddle with some things sitting on top of it. “Why didn’t you tell me about the new guy?”
“I doubt he’s sticking around. I didn’t think there was anything to tell.” Sam shrugged.
“Yeah, but you shouldn’t let Y/N just hang around some stranger all day. We don’t know anything about him.”
“Dean, he seems like a teddy bear. We’ve been doing this for long enough to know when someone is a piece of crap. Nick seems genuine.” Sam let out a small laugh. “You know, he’s actually a lot like you. I think you’d really get along with him if you were still hunting.”
“Yeah whatever.” Dean grumbled as he played with a knife he had picked up.
“What crawled up your butt?” Sam shot him a sideways glace. Dean didn’t respond. “Oh, I see. You just don’t like him hanging around Y/N.”
Dean clenched his jaw. “Well, I’m so sorry if I just want to make sure she’s safe. I didn’t realize I wasn’t allowed to look out for her. Someone’s gotta do it if you aren’t.”
Sam scoffed. “Hey, I am looking out for her, Dean. But she doesn’t need me to. She is way more than capable of handling herself and honestly, it’s none of your business who she decides to spend her time with. She’s not your girl anymore.” Sam knew it was a touchy subject, but he didn’t care. He hated to see how much Y/N was hurting because of Dean.
Dean slammed the knife into the top of the dresser. He shook his head and turned to leave. “I’m outta here.” He walked down the hall but stopped at the top of the stairs as he watched you grab a soda from the fridge and a bottle of pain pills which you then took over to Nick. He hated the way that Nick looked at you. He hated that you sat down next to him and smiled your perfect smile at someone other than himself. Dean ran his hand along the railing and subconsciously made his way back to his brother’s room.
“Does she like him?” Dean asked in a broken voice as he leaned against the doorframe, looking at the ground.
“I don’t know.” Sam could easily see that his brother was genuinely hurting. “But I meant what I said, Dean. She’s not your girl anymore. You chose Lisa over her.”
Dean didn’t have words to describe the heartache he was feeling. “I didn’t… I… I don’t know…” Was all he managed to get out.
“Dean, Y/N is still like a sister to me even though you two aren’t together anymore. We’ve gotten a lot closer since we both died and came back, and honestly, I’m happy to see that a guy is making her smile. She was really heartbroken over you. She still is. So maybe it sucks for you to see her with a guy that’s not you, but now you know how she feels every time she sees you with Lisa.”
Dean slid down the wall until he was sitting on the ground, with his head hanging in his lap and his hands on the back of his neck. Sam sat down next to him.
“Dean, I’m not trying to be harsh on you.”
“I know. You’re right though.”
“Maybe it’s none of my business, but why?”
“Why what?”
“Why did you move in with Lisa so soon after we died?”
Dean cleared his throat. “I don’t know Sam. I guess, she was there, and Y/N wasn’t. There’s just a lot to it and I don’t expect you to understand.” Dean got up, regained his composure and left swiftly. Making sure Y/N and Nick were out of sight before he left.

The Early Leaf’s a Flower: 9/11
Tumblr media
So, this is one of the chapters that earned this fic its M rating. Those who read the original probably remember what’s coming, but just to warn the rest of you: this chapter contains attempted rape and graphic violence.
Now that I have those trigger warnings out of the way, this is also the chapter that finally gets around to the prompt that originally inspired this whole idea. The prompt was: “A child is kidnapped, and the monster under the bed isn’t happy about it.” Let’s just say, Killian is the monster and something happens that makes him very, very angry. You won’t like Captain Hook when he’s angry ;) Well, I do, honestly, but there are characters in this chapter who won’t.
Thanks once again to the @captainswanbigbang mods for hosting the Captain Swan Rewrite-a-Thon as well as my betas @shippingtheswann and @optimisticgirl - you both are the best!
Summary: She saw eyes that were the blue of the forget me not peering at her through the cracked door of the wardrobe. He saw hair as gold as the buttercups. Why does the wardrobe keep bringing them back to one another, if fate keeps tearing them apart? Or maybe fate has her reasons …
Rating: M for eventual sexy times, violence, canonical character death, and attempted rape
Trigger warnings: vague references to child abuse (physical and sexual), violence, and positive Millian
Words: About 3k in this chapter

Emma: Age 23
Emma is on pins and needles all day long, waiting for the other shoe to drop. She’s such a bundle of nerves at her new waitressing job, that she spills coffee and breaks two dishes. She berates herself, thinking she’s going to end up her own worst enemy and get herself fired. But her boss is surprisingly patient, chalking it up to first day jitters.
It’s jitters, all right. Fear of the universe screwing her over again, for one. And then the more pleasant kind of jitters, the kind that has red creeping up her neck and butterflies doing a chorus line in the pit of her stomach. The memories of last night with Killian are making it incredibly hard to concentrate on the here and now.
Surprisingly, Emma makes it to the end of the day without any major catastrophes. Her bug starts just fine, and nothing looks amiss when she gets to Jackie’s. She unlocks the back door entrance to her rented room with her eyes closed. She isn’t sure what she expects. A fire? A flood? Neal? She chuckles ironically at that last thought. She spent two years looking, waiting, pining. Now Neal is the last person on earth she wants to see.
But when she opens her eyes, nothing is amiss. Yet her feeling of dread doesn’t abate as the night wears on. The mac n cheese she makes for supper sticks to her throat, imaginary sounds assault her in the shower, and her hands shake as she slips into her pajamas. (Though she doesn’t worry about dropping the towel – Killian is welcome to look now.)
She climbs into bed wide awake. If she was the type, she would read a book to pass the time. She wishes there was a TV. Instead, she lies there staring at the cracks in the ceiling. As time ticks on, she sits up and hugs her knees like she’s ten again and stares at the wardrobe. Could it be possible? Have she and Killian finally defied fate?
As if fate has a sick sense of humor, Emma hears at that very moment loud shouts from the main part of the house. Then crashes, things breaking, and a scream. Emma curses herself for her delayed reflexes; she’s entirely too off her game tonight. She leaps from the bed and grabs a poker resting against the fireplace and hoists it like a club just as two burly, tattooed men burst through her bedroom door. Emma swings the poker at them as they barrel towards her, but she may as well be swinging a toothpick at a grizzly bear. They sling her across the room, then lift her up and slam her against the wardrobe. The first of the two men, with a shaved head and biceps the size of boulders, squeezes her throat with both hands.
“Where are the drugs?” he demands, shaking her.
“I don’t know!” she gasps, clawing at the hands around her throat.
The second man begins to tear her room apart, opening drawers and flinging out their contents. He pulls her duffel out from under the bed and dumps it all out on the floor. Emma thinks of Killian and begins to kick her feet against the wardrobe door. It kicks her assailant, too, which is convenient, and one particularly hard kick lands right where it hurts most. He yells and drops her, and Emma scrambles across the floor on her hands and knees as she gasps in sweet air.
She’s just gotten to her bedroom door and grasped the knob when the second man grabs her by her hair and slings her across the room. She hits the side of her bed and slides to the floor. The man lifts her up, pinning her arms against her side, and shoves her onto the bed. He gets on top of her, his knees pinning her legs to the bed.
“Let’s have fun with her,” he snarls to his companion, “then I bet she’ll tell us where Jackie hid the stash.”
Emma thrashes, but he has her pinned. She looks longingly towards the door, which has swung open. Her heart plummets when she sees Jackie lying there in a pool of blood, her throat slashed. The bald man chuckles at his friend’s suggestion and comes over the other side of the bed.
“Sounds fun,” he sneers.
Emma panics and claws at the men as they pin her arms above her head. “Killian!” she screams, turning her head towards the wardrobe. “Killian!”
“Shut up,” the men snap, one of them slapping her across the face with the back of his hand. Emma turns and tries to bite him.
“She’s feisty,” the one on top of her says, his breath rancid, “this will be fun.” He pulls out a knife and holds it to Emma’s throat.
Just as the other man reaches down and rips at her pajama shirt, a blur of black leather comes crashing through the wardrobe with a feral yell. Killian yanks the man with the knife off Emma and slashes him across the throat with his hook before he can even lift his knife. Emma slides from the bed and to the floor, pulling her ripped shirt closed. The bald man flies over the bed towards Killian, and Killian spins out of the way. The man lands with a loud grunt, and by the time he scrambles to his feet, Killian has pulled a sword from a scabbard at his side. Before the man even realizes what is happening, the sword is plunged deep in his gut. Killian yanks the sword free, and the man crumples, dead in a pool of his own blood.
Killian spins towards her, his long leather coat swirling about his legs, his eyes a steely blue as he gazes at her with a tortured expression. She’s always been one to scoff at the whole damsel in distress trope, but at this moment, she has never seen anything more beautiful than this man. She swears he seems to glow like some avenging angel.
His face falls as he glances first at his bloodied hook and then at his bloodied sword. “You’re afraid of me,” he says.
Emma shakes her head, unable to speak as tears tumble down her cheeks. She knows how she must look, curled in around herself and shivering on the floor. “H-he ripped my shirt,” she says, hating how small and vulnerable her voice sounds.
Killian’s sword clatters to the floor, and he quickly wipes his hook on the bed sheets as he falls to his knees beside her. “I’m so sorry, Emma. I’m so sorry I didn’t get here sooner.”
He then shrugs out of his duster and drapes the heavy leather over her shoulders. Emma clutches the coat closed and falls against his chest. He holds her as she weeps.
“Did I get here in time?” he chokes out, and she can hear that he’s crying, too.
She nods against his chest.
His hold tightens around her, and when his words come again, they are tight with righteous indignation, “It shouldn’t have happened at all.”
“It isn’t your fault,” she whispers.
They fall silent as he holds her, running his hand through her hair. Eventually, his hand moves to cup her face and he gently tips her head back to look at him. “Emma, last night changed everything for me. For the first time since I was a lad, light filled my heart.” His thumb wipes at the tracks of her tears, and he smiles hesitantly at her. “Come with me, Emma.”
She looks long into those pools of cerulean and braces herself for him to say he’ll take care of her. It’s what men always say in these situations, at least in the movies, and while part of her longs for that, another part of her rebels against it. She doesn’t want to owe him or need him to the point she loses herself, like with Neal. Killian traces her jaw, then thumbs her chin, and she waits.
He smiles at her and says, “We’d make quite the team, I’m sure of it. And I have a feeling there’s a little pirate in you, love.”
Emma’s eyes widen in complete surprise. That wasn’t what she thought he would say at all. Even now, trembling in a ripped shirt, he’s still looking at her the way he did when she told him about kneeing Robby Eddleston in the nads. Like he believes that she can do anything.
Emma glances around the tiny room with cracks on the ceiling and yellowed paper on the walls. At the miniature table with only room for one lonely chair. What’s keeping her here anyway?
Then her eyes take in the gruesome scene of three dead bodies. She’s the only survivor of this little bloodbath, which evidently has something to do with drugs. The cops won’t believe she’s innocent, not with her past criminal record. No one will vouch for her, the court assigned attorney won’t see a need to fight for her defense. Case closed, neat and tidy. She’ll go back to jail.
Emma smiles up at her pirate in shining armor. “Why not?”
His grin practically splits his face at her answer, and he presses a chaste kiss to her forehead. He sheathes his sword, then before she knows what’s happening, he’s scooped her up in his strong arms. Emma rolls her eyes.
“Killian, I’m perfectly capable of walking.”
He smiles down at her with that crooked grin he’s always had, even at ten. “Never said you weren’t, love, but that’s entirely beside the point.”
The wardrobe begins to emit that familiar glow as he turns towards it. Killian toes it open with his boot, then steps through with Emma in his arms. Behind her is death and decay, but before her is a stately Captain’s quarters with a bank of bright windows. Killian puts her down and she turns in a slow circle, still clutching his duster about her frame.
“It's so . . . neat and tidy. I was expecting it to look more like the Black Pearl in the movies.”
Killian scoffs, “That git Jack Sparrow? I take far more pride in my ship than he does. And why does he get a movie, too?”
Emma laughs as she turns to him. “You don’t even know what a movie is. Or have you seen one since I saw you last?”
He scratches behind that ear again. “Um, no. But I like the idea of being famous even in your realm.”
He grins at her cockily, rocking back on his heels. She turns and sees the wardrobe behind her. Emma reaches out a shaking hand in wonder. “Unbelievable. It’s just like the one in my world.”
“Aye,” Killian remarks, coming up behind her and wrapping his arms around her. She turns in his embrace, wrapping her own arms around his waist and pressing her cheek to his chest.
“I’m so tired, Killian.”
“I’ll leave you then,” he tells her, “there’s a trunk in the corner of Milah’s old things. There should be a nightgown. I’m not sure if it’s your size, but we can stop in the next port and buy you some things of your own. I’ll be right outside if you need me.”
He kisses the top of her head and turns to go, but she grabs his hook to stop him. “Don’t go. Please.”
He steps closer, eyeing her in return. “After what happened, I wasn’t sure . . .”
His words make her melt inside. How could he ever have been a villain? She takes his hand and threads their fingers. “I trust you,” she tells him, “and I just want you to hold me.”
He does as she asks, and his embrace combined with the swaying of the sea, lulls her into the deepest sleep Emma has ever had.
 Emma and Killian: 23
When the sun shines through the small windows of his quarters the next morning, Killian feels content and well rested in a way he hasn’t in years. He knows that a large reason for that is the woman in his arms. He looks down at Emma, her back to his front. Her blonde hair is a riotous mess, tickling his nose and chin. Her face is relaxed in sleep, her cheeks pink. He remembers how she trembled the night before, how wide her eyes had been, how small she had looked curled in on herself as she attempted to cover her body. He wishes he didn’t know what that trauma was like, wishes seeing her didn’t bring back memories of recoiling from Liam’s touch after . . .
Killian presses his eyes shut, unwilling to go back to that place, even all these years later. Instead he presses a gentle kiss to Emma’s head and lightly runs his finger down her forearm. Sex is the last thing on his mind right now; he’s far too concerned with making sure she feels safe. He knows it may take her awhile to feel comfortable with more than platonic embraces, and some days, she may not want even that. He is determined to be whatever she needs.
She’s here with him; that’s all that matters now. Finally, after so many years, they can really be together. There’s no rush for them to figure things out, and he’ll wait as long as it takes. He lifts her hand, running his thumb over her knuckles before turning her palm up and pressing a chaste kiss there. His thumb runs over the inside of her wrist, and he stills.
Blinking, Killian leans closer to look at the design upon her inner wrist, and his breath catches in his throat. He’s seen that mark before . . .
“He has it, the mark that I found in my research,” Tink whispers to Killian.
The boy finishes the cup of water the fairies had given him, his brown eyes still wide and fearful as he runs the back of his hand across his mouth. When he does, Killian sees it - the mark. It looks more like a tattoo than a birthmark and is shaped like a small flower. The child sets his cup down, and Killian notices his hands are still trembling.
“It’s okay,” Tiger Lily tries to assure him, “no one will hurt you anymore.”
“Where’s John?” the boy asks. It’s the first words he’s spoken since Hawkins rescued him from Pan.
Killian exchanges nervous glances with the fairies. Tink’s eyes are struggling against tears as she kneels beside the boy.
“He . . . had to go away. He didn’t want to, but . . . he . . . “
Killian tosses aside the poultice Tiger Lily had put on his head wound and paces with nervous energy.
“Do you want that wound to get well or do you want to drop where you stand? Tiger Lily admonishes him.
“Oh please,” Tink grumbles, pulling her wand from the pouch at her side. She snaps her wrist towards Killian’s head, and his wound is bathed in pixie dust. He touches it tentatively, and grins when he feels no pain.
“Tink!” Tiger Lily scolds. “Magic isn’t to be used to -”
“Ladies,” Killian hisses, gesturing to the corner where the boy is now cowering. “It may be best to limit the magic until he’s adjusted, savvy?”
Killian spies Michael’s old teddy bear in a basket near the rocking chair. He remembers Wendy sitting there darning socks, and his breath catches. Pushing aside the memory, he picks up the teddy bear and gets down on his knees before the lad.
“We only want to help you, my boy,” he tells the child, offering him the toy.
The boy inches forward, eyeing Killian warily. He snatches the teddy bear and
holds it close, burying his face against the bear’s furry head.
“Let’s start with introductions, shall we? My name is Killian. What’s yours?”
“Henry.”
In the present, Emma begins to stir in Killian’s arms.
“Hey,” she murmurs as she turns her face towards him, eyes blinking with the remnants of sleep.
“Morning, love,” he whispers back, his thumb still tracing over the pattern on her wrist as he attempts to pull his thoughts together.
Emma turns in his embrace and gives him a sleepy smile. “Thanks for . . . well, everything.”
“I wish it had never happened,” he tells her huskily as he twirls a piece of her hair around his finger.
“Hey,” she says, pressing her palm against his cheek, “are you okay?”
He swallows, unsure if this is the best time to bring up her birthmark. “Just worried about you, ‘tis all.”
Emma frowns. “You’re lying.” She sits up and leans back against the headboard.
Killian takes in every line of her face, amazed at the intelligence and strength that he sees. There will be no subterfuge where Emma is concerned, that much is clear. He lets out a long sigh and takes her hand, gently turning it to reveal the mark on her wrist.
“How long have you had this, love?”
She chuckles lightly. “It’s not a tattoo, if you can believe it. I’ve always had it. Martha - you remember her, right? - well, she said it looks like a buttercup.”
Every nerve in his body begins to tingle. It scarcely seems possible. All this time . . .
“Emma,” he says carefully, taking her face in his hand, “the son you gave up . . . “ He hesitates, searches her widening eyes, licks his lips nervously, “did he have this same birthmark?”
“Yes,” she breathes, “how . . . how did you know?”
He presses his forehead to hers, hoping to bolster her. “Darling, would you like to meet him?”
“What?”
“Your son. I know where he is.”

32 Underrated Female Actors of Bollywood
On December 2 of 2019, I posted my “32 Underrated Male Actors of Bollywood” list. In that post, I promised an underrated female actors list soon, and after two long months, I finally got to finishing it. The biggest reason why it took such a long time for me to put this up (apart from spending more time on my other posts) was that there was just way too many unnoticed talents to mention. Many of the women mentioned here don’t fit the typical mold of a Bollywood heroine, but possess such immense talent that it should be a crime to not notice them.
