an indentation in the shape of you || Cha Hyun-Su x f!Reader
Tumblr media
summary: Hyun-Su wants to learn how to make you feel good. The two of you experiment some more.
word count: 2.8k
warnings & tags: fluff, smut, reader is afab, explicit consent, pwp, porn with feelings, fingering, dry-humping i guess?, they're both virgins and pretty awkward but they're getting better at this, all very vanilla.
first one-shot · previous one-shot
This one-shot can be read independently as there is nothing intense plot-wise that requires having read the other parts, but I do recommend reading them for context.
A/N: this is my first hyun-su one-shot without angst lol (...don't get too used to it). anyway, this is more smut, and i think it's more intense than the previous one. hyun-su is more confident in this one, and he takes charge a little more (but in other ways he's pretty subby, so do with that what you want). hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
There is something about watching Hyun-Su moving around in your house that warms your heart in a way you can’t quite explain. He’s seemed more confident there lately, no longer tiptoeing or stiffening around you like you could kick him out any second. It reminds you of days forever gone, when your mom used to sit at the table while doing her crosswords and your dad put music on the second he walked in through the door.
It reminds you of when this house was a home.
Right now, Hyun-Su’s fixing up a spear he’s brought here with some of your dad’s tools. It’s not his, you know that much. ‘Yi-Kyeong asked me to take care of it’, he’d said when he had set to fix it. There was something to his tone that had stopped you from asking for more, even if you think he’d have told you. He’d said her name respectfully, but with deep sadness, and you had known that there was a lot more to this story. You’d get there some day, you were sure, but not tonight.
Hyun-Su glances up at you, and you almost whip your head away to pretend you weren’t looking at him, like you’re a highschooler with a crush. Instead, you don’t even try to make it look like the long forgotten book in your lap is of any interest to you, and you give him a smile.
He stills his movements.
“Is something wrong?”
His voice is calm and deep. He sure has come a long way.
“Just like looking at you,” you answer, because it’s true, and even with all that progress, you’re not surprised when Hyun-Su looks away from you, cheeks turning red.
When he gets the courage to look back at you, though, a bashful smile illuminates his features, and you don’t think that would have happened even as recently as a few weeks ago.
“You do?”
There’s just something in the air. Something fresh and sweet and new, something that makes you bite your lower lip while you nod, suppressing the giggle that’s forming in the back of your throat. Hyun-Su’s eyes on you feel intense, and you’re not used to getting that kind of look from him. After a few seconds of that, he abandons the spear behind him to stand up and walk towards you, eyes not leaving yours for a second.
A long, intense shiver runs down your back. Under his hoodie, you can see the muscles of his shoulders moving as he walks, and fleetingly, you wonder if you’d have had a chance with him, in a world without the Apocalypse, but even that is quickly swallowed by the fact that you have him now.
He puts a hand on the back of the couch as he leans close to you to kiss you, the other coming to rest on your waist and oh, if he keeps doing things like that, you think you’ll just turn into a puddle. Your heart is fluttering, and when his hand sneaks under your t-shirt, long, cold fingers carefully caressing your skin, you think it just might fly out of your chest.
His lips move slowly against yours, and you tilt your head back as he towers over you. You feel like you’re going into overdrive from how sensual he’s being, how his tongue dances with yours as the soft sounds of the kiss fill the room. It’s not long before he’s gently pushing you onto your back on the couch, and he goes down with you, putting one knee between your legs to support himself.
And it’s all just so much. Hyun-Su’s lips, his taste on your tongue, his warm body half-covering yours, his fingers running over your ribs, and, fuck, now his knee just almost, almost pressing right where you need him to.
But this feels nice, too, and you’re not trying to initiate anything sexual just yet, so you do your best to be patient. You wrap your arms around his neck to pull him closer, and find some satisfaction in the way Hyun-Su loses his rhythm at that. Knowing that you still have that kind of effect on him, even as you’re unraveling completely under his touch, makes you just a little more confident in what you’re doing.
It isn’t long before Hyun-Su’s gotten his bearings back though, and then he kisses you with renewed passion. The kiss turns less controlled, mouth crashing against yours harder, his hand tightens on your waist— before he pulls away, panting.
“Sorry,” he says before he can catch himself, cheeks flushed.
“I didn’t mind,” you answer, but your voice is squeakier than you had intended.
“I didn’t mean to— I wanted to ask you something.”
His black eyes are wide, and as much as the blue eyes are like an electric shock running through you, you love them so much. You love how you drown in them, you love how kind they are, love that they are, truly, a window to his soul.
“What is it?” you whisper, not trusting your voice anymore.
“Just— What we did. Last time.”
No need to be a rocket scientist to figure that one out, so, even if you feel blood rushing to your face, you nod.
“I wanted to, uh, return the favor. If you don’t mind.”
It’s your eyes’ turn to widen, and you push yourself onto your elbows to better read his expression. The skin of your face tingles with how burning hot it is.
“I mean I— Sure but you don’t— You don’t have to do anything—”
“I know,” he says, shaking his head. His voice is soft. “But I want to.”
You swallow, but you lay back down. You’re more nervous in this situation than you would have expected, feel vulnerable, exposed, even if you’re all clothed for now. But you trust Hyun-Su, you do, with all of your heart, and you cannot imagine a better person to have this experience with. So, slowly, you nod.
“Are you sure?”
“Very sure,” you whisper.
“Then can I…?”
He pulls on your shirt, but without putting any force into it. His eyes are on you, waiting for your approval — or whatever you decide to answer with.
You swallow.
“Um, yes, but could you— could you also…?”
He understands your meaning without you having finished, and acts on it faster than you would have expected, almost immediately pulling his own hoodie over his head and letting it fall to the floor. You’d noticed before that, for all his shyness over other things, he doesn’t seem to care about nudity all that much, but you’re not sure what to do with it.
For now, you can at least admire the work of art that is his body, his well-defined muscles and hard pectorals, and since he’s out in the open now, you give him a nod.
“Go ahead.”
He takes off your shirt like you’re made of porcelain, pulling it slowly and softly over your head, and taking his time so it doesn’t get caught in your hair. It is such a sweet sight, how focused he gets on the task, on making sure he’s doing right, so that he doesn’t hurt you in any way. It’s only once he’s done that his gaze lands on your body. He stills, Adam’s apple bobbing up and down, and you can’t help but stiffen.
It might be silly, at this point in your relationship — and when the world has literally ended outside your window — but you’re feeling self-conscious. You want to fold your arms in front of your breasts, hide your stomach and any imperfection.
“You’re beautiful,” Hyun-Su says, so obviously in awe, and the weight on your stomach is replaced by sweet, sweet butterflies. “Is it— is it okay to—”
“Touch me,” you ask instead of letting him stutter through the rest of his sentence, and he almost gasps at that, pants suddenly feeling a lot tighter.
“You shouldn’t say things like that to me,” he mumbles, bright red once again, stealing a kiss from you when you open your mouth to tease.
Then he’s kissing down your neck, and you can tell that he’s mimicking the things you did to him the last time something like this happened between the two of you. You barely have time to find that sweet, though, because soon the only thing on your mind are the open-mouthed kisses he’s pressing against your skin, and how they make you so desperate to buck your hips against he’s oh so well placed thigh.
He doesn’t linger on your neck, though, soon moving down to your chest, sneaking a hand behind your back to try and unclasp your bra — something he ends up struggling you with so much that you’re the one that eventually reaches back to get it done. He’ll have all the time to learn that kind of things later. For now, there’s something on your mind, and you don’t want to have to wait any longer.
You let him slide it down your arms, then discard it, letting it fall with the rest of your clothes.
“Can I…?”
“You still don’t have to ask.”
He hesitates for a second, before going back down to press a shy kiss under your collarbone, right where your breast starts to form. He keeps kissing his way down, hands for now cautiously staying away. Finally, he reaches your nipple, and you cannot hold back a distinct gasp when he carefully wraps his mouth around it. It turns into a full moan when he flicks his tongue against it — and you could swear you feel his mouth stretching into a grin right after that.
It’s then that he cups your other breast with his hand, and you shiver. His body may be radiating heat, but his hands are cold. They don’t stay that way for long though, not with how hot you’re running right now yourself. He starts off shy over there too, at first massaging your breast gently, before his fingers dare brush against that nipple. It’s hard already, and with his mouth on the other side, all you can do is arch into his touch, moans still falling freely from your lips.
Pleasure’s running wild in your body, each and every sensation going straight down to your core, more so when his fingers experimentally pull on your nipple. You’re dripping wet already, desperate for relief, and it’s not long before you can no longer hold yourself back and buck your hips up against his leg.
He lets go of you almost immediately, glancing down at your lower body as if he doesnt understand what’s happening. When he looks back at you, his eyes are impossibly wide, his pupils dilated.
“Did you— Did you just—”
“Hyun-Su,” you call out in a sigh, running your fingers over the nape of his neck. “Touch me.”
For a second, his whole body tenses and he just stares at you. Then he exhales.
“Fuck,” he mumbles under his breath. “Fuck. Um. Then I’ll— I’ll just—” He starts fiddling with the button of your jeans, and just the anticipation of his touch where you need it the most sends pleasure rushing through you once more. This time, he manages to get them off of you without your help, and there’s another slow exhale. “You’re so— You’re so—”
Wet is the word you think he’s searching for, and he’s not wrong about that. The urge to reach down between your leg to take care of the ache you’re feeling is strong, but the desire to feel him down there is all-consuming, and so you wait for him, your breathing loud and ragged.
“Tell me, okay? Tell me what feels good to you.”
He doesn’t take off your panties, probably because he hasn’t gotten your jeans fully off, and instead just pushes them to the side. He’s cautious here too, at first barely brushing against the lips, which still makes the muscles of your thighs tense. It feels like you’ve been waiting for it for centuries when he finally inserts a long finger inside you, sliding in so easily from how dripping wet you are. Your hold on his shoulders tighten, fingers digging into his skin, and even with your lips pressed tightly together, your moan reverberates through your body.
“Good?” Hyun-Su asks, and his low voice in your ears does absolute wonders to you right now.
“You can add another one,” you say, except it’s probably more of a whine, but you can’t tell for sure, not with how much your head is buzzing right now.
Hyun-Su obeys almost immediately, and you bury your head in his neck to muffle the groan that follows. You feel so good, so full, and he hasn’t even moved yet. You let yourself adjust, before giving him more instructions.
“You can— You can spread them open and— ah!— m-move them in and— Ah!”
Hyun-Su follows your advice diligently, and soon you no longer even have the strength to hold on to him, falling down onto your back with your whole body arching into his touch, following after him if he pulls out. It’s so, so fucking good, nothing you’ve ever done on your own can compare to this and you don’t know how you’ll be able to go back after that.
You’re gasping and writhing underneath him for you don’t know how long, and you’re so, so close to the edge, but you need— You just need something more, so you push yourself back up on your elbows, something harder than you’d think, when your muscles feel like jelly, and that’s when you realize that his hips are bucking against your leg. You hadn’t paid any attention to it, but now you see how obviously hard he is, and the small, almost shy movements of his hips as he ruts against you.
“Hyun-Su,” you call — you’re no longer paying attention to how your voice is coming out —, “here—”
You grab his wrist, and even if it means he pulls his hand out, something that immediately has your walls clenching around nothing at the loss, guide him so his fingers brush against your clit.
“There,” you whisper. “You can keep, uh, keep your fingers inside and— and touch me there, too.”
He nods, pushes the fingers back inside. There are a few seconds as he figures out how to best put his hand, and then when he strokes your clit with his thumb, you almost immediately lose it. You only have the presence of mind to lift your leg up, just a little, so it presses against his hard cock.
It’s his turn to freeze and to let out a moan then, one obviously surprised out of him.
“You should feel good too,” you manage to mumble through the haze of pleasure.
“But I— I want to make you feel—”
“We can both feel good,” you answer, and Hyun-Su just cannot resist kissing you again. It’s messy, tongues clashing together without much control, but fuck, he cannot explain or control the way he feels about you.
You come just a few moments later, waves of pleasure crashing through you all at once as his thumb circles your clit, fingers deep inside you, moving at a tranquil pace that lets you feel all of his movements inside you.
When you open your eyes again, he’s above you, staring at you lovingly.
“Good?” he asks.
Better than that.
“That was incredible,” you tell him though even that feels like an understatement. You love the way he obviously preens under your compliment. “But— But what about you? Didn’t you—”
You reach out, but he grabs your wrist before you can touch him.
“I, um, I’ve already—”
He’s turning bright red again, but you understand without another word. His jeans are still on, and you haven’t even actually touched him, and yet he still came in his pants, against your thigh, while fingering you.
Blood rushes to your face so fast you feel light-headed.
“Oh,” is all you can truly think to say. Then, shyly, “Want to go get cleaned up?”
“Together?” His voice is soft, questioning, but his eyes are in yours, comfortable instead of avoiding. You nod.
Later, you’re still in his arms, your back pressed against his chest, his face buried in your neck. And you, too, are comfortable.
There’s just something in the air, something fresh and sweet and familiar, and you think something you haven’t let yourself explore all that much, even if you’ve known, deep down, for a long time.
It just might be love.
Tumblr media
and here we are! this one felt a lot smuttier to me than the previous part, but it was fun to write about this relationship in a less angsty way, too. maybe i should let them be happy a little more lol. anyway, i hope you liked it! next part probably won't be smut, but i don't know when it will be out. i have a new, time consuming internship that doesn't give me a lot of free time, so i don't know how much/when i'll have time to write. but i definitely have more stuff i want to write for this couple! so don't hesitate to comment and/or reblog to give me the motivation to write after work lol, and i'll also be answering my asks when i have time!

See you later, sweetheart II Cha Hyun Su x Reader
Tumblr media
Cha Hyun Su x Reader
Summary: In the aftermath of a battle, the dimly lit staircase is charged with tension as Hyun Su's monstrous side emerges, questioning your loyalty to Hyun Su. You stand your ground, earning an unexpected shift in the monster's demeanor.
the first part, kinda ~~~~~ the next part, kinda
Masterlist
~~~~~
The atmosphere in the dimly lit staircase is heavy with the aftermath of the battle, the air thick with the scent of adrenaline and the metallic tang of blood. Hyun Su's spear leans against the wall, and you glance over at him, catching the blackened eyes that signal the presence of his monstrous side. His usual gentleness is eclipsed by the emergence of this alter ego. A shiver runs down your spine, having seen his blackened eyes only in passing until now. As you approach cautiously, his monstrous self smirks.
"Well, look who decided to stick around," the monster purrs, a flirtatious edge to its voice. "He must be something special to you to endure the chaos that is Hyun Su."
Your response was swift, your tone firm and scolding. "He fought to protect me. You should appreciate that."
The monster chuckles, its demeanor still confident. "Oh, I do. But let's be real, sweetheart. You've been hanging around a weakling. Why stay?"
Your response is swift, defending Hyun Su with determination. "Hyun Su isn't weak. He cares. He helps wherever he can. He protects us."
Before you can continue, the monster raises an intrigued eyebrow. "You really believe that, huh? Weaklings like him need protection, and you seem more than willing to provide it."
Undeterred, you stand your ground. "He's worth it. I won't abandon him."
A smirk plays on the monster's lips as it issues a veiled threat. "You've got spirit, I'll give you that. But don't think I won't get rid of you if you become a problem."
With a step closer, you declare boldly, "Good luck with that. I'm not going anywhere."
Unexpectedly, the monster's demeanor shifts, and its smirk transforms into a full-on smile. "Well, well. Quite the brave one, aren't you? Looks like Hyun Su has found someone who won't break easily. Maybe you're not so bad after all."
As the tension eases, the monster steps even closer, closely watching your every expression. Your confusion is apparent, along with your sweet smell that reaches its heightened senses. The dismissive attitude begins to shift, replaced by an acknowledgment of your resilience and, perhaps, an unusual fondness.
Before you can say more, the monster straightens its back with a chuckle. "We will see." Hyun Su's body slumps forward, and you instinctively catch him. The blackened eyes revert to their normal dark brown, signaling the return of the Cha Hyun Su you knew.
Hyun Su blinks, his eyes slowly returning to their usual dark brown. A flicker of fear and confusion crosses his face as he finds himself in your arms, the intensity of the moment bringing a sense of vulnerability. His breathing is uneven, and he stammers, "I-I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened. Did I hurt you?"
You shake your head, a comforting smile on your lips as you reassure him, "No, you didn't hurt me. Your... other side just talked, that's all. But we should probably get out of here before another monster finds us."
Realizing that he is still in your arms, Hyun Su's cheeks flush with embarrassment. However, rather than stepping back, he instinctively holds onto you, pulling you into a more intimate embrace. "Sorry," he whispers, his voice soft and genuine, "I just thought he could have…" unable to finish his sentence.
Your heart skips a beat at the closeness, and you smile, placing a reassuring hand on his back. The two of you stand in the dimly lit staircase, finding solace in each other's arms. The tension begins to melt away as Hyun Su's uncertainty transforms into a shared understanding. "I'm not going anywhere."
He steps back slowly, creating some distance between you two, and nods in agreement, blushing. "Y-yeah, you're right. We should go."
The two of you carefully make your way down the staircase, navigating through the remnants of the battle. As you walk, Hyun Su can't help but steal glances at you, his gaze searching for any sign of discomfort or fear. You catch his eyes and offer a reassuring smile, silently affirming the bond that has deepened between you.
The air between you becomes charged with unspoken words, a mix of vulnerability and trust. As you reach the bottom of the staircase, you glance back, making sure no lurking monsters are ready to ambush you. The atmosphere is tense before you walk back to the others. Hyun Su, still wrestling with the fear that his monstrous side instilled, speaks hesitantly, "I never wanted you to see that side of me. It's... unpredictable and dangerous."
You turn to look at him, offering a warm smile. "Hyun Su, you're not a danger. Your other side, it's a part of you, but it didn't harm me. I trust you."
As the tension from the encounter began to dissipate, Hyun Su's steps became lighter, and he glanced at you with a newfound warmth. "Thank you," he whispered, his gratitude echoing through the empty halls.
With newfound determination, the two of you continued your journey, navigating the labyrinth of dangers that awaited. The bond between you and Hyun Su, tested by the shadows of his monstrous side, seemed to grow stronger as you faced the challenges together.
cha hyun su x female reader genre: romance, angst , fluff (because hyun su is a cutie) type: series (but can be read as a oneshot) word count: 1,791
part 1 of series ◄◄ ˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ part 3 of series
౨ৎ ⋆。˚ synopsis: cha hyun su and (y/n) go on a mission together to find items requested by eunhyuk but then, meets an unexpected danger that threatens their life and death. monster hyun su makes a small appearance ౨ৎ ⋆。˚
"Hyun Su."
(y/n)'s call snaps the said other to whip his head to her- eyes widening and brows raise along with the makeshift spear in his hands. "Huh?"
"Let's check this room," she says and points to a door she then, swings open. Hyun Su follows her inside before taking the lead once they slip through the entrance.
They're now on a joint task to find a couple of things needed for the livelihood of the residents. Okay, well one of them was assigned on a mission and the other made the choice to tag along. Guess who's who?
Asking Eunhyuk wasn't option. Everybody knows how uptight and aloof he can be- for good reason of course but, that's exactly why (y/n) had to go behind his back. She went ahead and stalked Hyun Su like a tail the moment Eunhyuk left after giving him a rundown of his objectives for the day.
"You shouldn't have come," Hyun Su quietly expresses his disagreement to her decision but (y/n) just shrugs and scans the room for valuables.
Contrasting Eunhyuk's constant character however, Cha Hyun Su had changed little by little. He's more vocal regarding his feelings now compared to before and he's less solemn. He's also less hesitant to reach out to (y/n) when it comes to asking for comfort although, it rarely happens. Still, there a lot of things he keeps silent about such as when he was zoning out before; what thoughts were he thinking, he won't say. All those time (y/n) used to accompany him in the quarantine room bore fruit.
"Ooh! Batteries," she alerts with subtle excitement and points to a torn 4-pack battery set peeking out from under a shattered mirror. She reaches out to grab it but is intervened by Hyun Su who quickly picks it up.
"...You'll get cut," is all he mumbles while stuffing the batteries into his backpack. A small smile stretches on (y/n)'s face at his attentiveness towards her. "These are my tasks."
Her smile widens at his proclamation that indirectly means for her to just do nothing. The search continues.
"So, duct tape's the last one. Where can we find that?" (y/n) wonders aloud after they found the rest of the items in the list. She's responded with a tug on her sleeve to which she reacts with letting Hyun Su drag her away gently to the upper level and in front of a door. "Janitor room?"
Hyun Su nods and quickly pulls his hand away from her shirt- afraid he'll get greedy for her hand if he were to hold longer. "I once saw the janitor tape the hinges of the electric box together before the electricians came. I think, he should have one. Hopefully."
The words he speaks sound incoherent to (y/n)- the letters blurred and jumbled in her head as his rapid action of pulling away causes a slight undesirable tug in her heart. But she manages to brush it off and reach for the doorknob.
Yet once again, being interrupted by her knight in shining armor who sneakily slips to the front and opens the door. He walks in to search for the tape and lets (y/n) to just stand and watch. He mimics a cat when his face snaps towards the tape with large eyes sparkling with quiet glee.
"Here's the ta—" His sentence is cut after he takes the object and turn to (y/n) whose hair gently flutters to the side from a breeze. His brows furrow and (y/n) shares the same reaction.
She turns her face to the direction of the source and lips part in shock at the sight of a broken window. "Hyun Su, that window's broken. Something must've got in."
"What?" Hyun Su blurts and throws the tape in his bag before rushing out to shield her. His eyes then darts to the camera before belatedly realizing that the CCTV on the floor had broken down. This meant that whatever it is that happened here, Eunhyuk would be unaware of. No one will know if anything is to happen to them here. If anything happens to (y/n).
Dread fills him as panic ensues like a sprout rapidly growing its stems and roots to every end of his figure- a siren blaring in his head and heart pounding faster than ever. "(y/n), we have to go."
A faint whimper follows.
He frowns, confused by her lack of response despite feeling her standing behind him. So he turns- and the sight is enough to shatter him whole.
A monster with what seems like the deformed head of a spider and a twisted figure of a sea creature with debris and broken glass sticking out of its back had coiled its tentacles around (y/n) who's frozen with fright. Her eyes are wide with horror as she stays still- trying her best not to agitate the monster who only captured her soundlessly yet have done nothing after.
In fact, it's now staring at Hyun Su with its 8 black protruding eyes that look like they'll pop any second- all blinking in different times which rises goosebumps in their skin.
But Hyun Su's much too terrified at the possibility of losing (y/n) that he sees nothing but a target to kill.
SLOSH!
He stabs his spear into one of its eye, causing it to explode and inadvertently loosen its grip on (y/n) who quickly limps to the ground.
"(Y/N)!" Hyun Su shouts and pulls her up before dashing through the halls with her almost floating behind him. "In here!"
He slips into a room and shuts the door before falling to his knees to be eye-level with her who's desperately trying to catch her breath. The monster's tentacle had suffocated her, turning her skin and lips a shade of blue. Her head's spinning from the lack of air.
"(y/n)! (y/n), are you okay?" Hyun Su asks frantically as he constantly brushes her hair away from her face as she holds her head in his hands. His gaze heavy with concern scans her but is interrupted by a large growl, followed by a slam near their door. "...It's going to find us."
(y/n) sees nothing but colours and shapes and suddenly finds herself in an enclosed space before seeing Hyun Su's face near hers.
His lips form words. He's saying something. But (y/n) can't hear them. She's having trouble keeping her eyes open as her chest heaves for air. Seeing her dazed state, Hyun Su then forms a small smile, a smile that doesn't reach his eyes but for some reason, it reaches so deep into her chest. It... stings.
His shadow then swallows her when he bends down slightly- letting their foreheads touch for just a few seconds long before he hesitantly pulls away.
The light then disappears around her as the closet doors are closed by Hyun Su who leaves a gap big enough for air but not enough to replenish hers completely.
And so, she faints.
She awakes with a gasp and she quickly shoves the doors open- tumbling forward as a result but feels something minimally soft cushioning her.
Hyun Su's backpack.
Panic overtakes as she recalls the mangled monster and the life threatening situation she experienced. And yet, it's now strangely quiet and... Hyun Su is nowhere to be seen.
"Hyun Su," she mutters and rushes out the room with the bag only to gasp at the large volume of blood smeared on the floors and walls- but what scared her the most is the bloody handprints scattered around the windows which eventually increased on the layers of duct tape used to cover the crack they saw before. "He covered this. He's alive! Hyun Su!"
It's as if she's a madman- running around the hallways in search of him and completely disregarding the fact that there could be another monster. It's unlikely, anyways, or else they would've came out before.
"Hyun Su! CHA HYUN SU!" She shrieks and drifts to a stop in front of the janitor room where the door is open by ajar. She's scared to swing it open wider. What if what she sees is worse than a 'missing' Hyun Su? What if... he's not just gone?
But relief settles in the moment she sees him collapsed on the ground, breathing and alive- although, battered and bruised.
"Cha Hyun Su," (y/n) sobs and pulls him into her arms. He stirs.
He pants onto her back as she lays his head on her shoulder. "...(y/n)? Why are you h-here?"
"For you," she answers without pause and she feels him flinch.
"I told you to not come for me... If I don't come back, don't search for me," he strains his voice and (y/n) pushes him up- tightly holding his cheeks against her palms with a glare.
"Stop being sappy and just rest up, will you?" She scolds and Hyun Su's eyes flicker between her angry ones- feeling a thump in his chest and question marks seem to appear on his head. "Now, shush."
She pulls him back down to her shoulder and hugs him tightly in hopes to hide the tremble of her arms and the tears that brim her eyes. Acting tough seems to work, thankfully.
No, it doesn't. Not at all.
And yet, as selfish as it sounds and as much as he wants to hit himself for it, Hyun Su feels... grateful that she's so deeply affected by him. That she's moved by him. His lips stretch to a grin as he nuzzles further into her shoulder- shuffling to the crook of her neck to feel the warmth of her skin.
"...If you try to sacrifice yourself for me again, you better stay alive," she suddenly says.
"Alri—"
"So I can kill you personally."
"Oh..."
Despite her death threat, the joyful miens they each wear show their heartfelt feelings for one another.
'I'd like to see her try,' a voice that's eerily similar to Hyun Su's chuckles in his head and his smile drops- eyes turning completely black before they fade just as quickly.
'Shut up,' Hyun Su snaps back in his head and wraps his arms around (y/n)'s waist- unintentionally leaning towards her for security and comfort which causes a blush to creep on her cheeks.
Time Will Tell - Chapter 23
My Navigation and Masterlist
The Time Will Tell Glossary
Warnings: Hyun-su meeting his monster, reader is a cutie pie, the beginning of the basement and spider monster scene. Word Count: 1,443
prev | current | next
It was dark when Hyun-su opened his eyes, the only light a strange watery reflection on the walls he was surrounded in. Somehow, he knew what he was experiencing wasn’t real, and that thought was solidified when he sat up and saw himself standing 2 meters in front of him. The only difference between the two of them was the fully black eyes of the one standing.
“What are you?” Hyun-su asked the boy who looked like him.
“I don’t know,” the monster answered honestly, his face devoid of any emotion as he spoke.
“What?”
“I honestly don’t even know what I am."
A rush of calm washed over him as a strange but pleasant sensation ran across his forehead. The monster in front of him seemed to feel it too, because they both sat there in silence, not trying to find out what it was that made them so calm. Rather, they were just enjoying it. Enjoying the strange feeling in their hearts as the touch continued.
It was only after a minute when the feeling left completely that the monster spoke again, his motives much more clear with his next words. “You can start over in this place. You can live however you want now.”
“But if I reveal my desire, I’ll become a monster?” Hyun-su asked from his place still on the ground.
The monster’s face formed a manic smile at his words. “Yeah. So tell me what you really want.”
The monster snickered as the original Hyun-su stood up and walked over to him, suddenly holding his spear. “Fuck you,” he said before jamming the spear into his other self.
Except, the spear didn’t touch flesh. It stuck itself into a mirror, shattering it so that the monster Hyun-su in the reflection seemed to multiply.
“Fine. Good luck, then,” the monster taunted before the same calming sensation passed over their foreheads.
Hyun-su took a step back from the mirror and dropped the spear. The smile dropped from his monster’s face and he seemed more at peace than the entire interaction Hyun-su had just had with him. The touch moved down until it stopped at his upper arm, and all he felt was contentedness. It was a feeling he hadn’t felt in years.
“Oh, I see,” his monster suddenly said. Hyun-su snapped his head back to him from where it had shifted away. “It’s her, isn’t it?”
Just as he was about to respond with a question, asking what it was his monster meant, his eyes opened. He found himself back in the arcade room, lying down on a few crates with his head on a soft fabric cushion. A warm hand rested on his upper arm, just like the feeling in his dream, and it caressed little shapes with its thumb. He raised himself from the crates, looking over his shoulder at where you sat reading. Or well, you were reading. Now, you were looking at him with a soft smile but concern in your eyes.
“You’re up,” you said softly and pulled your hand away from his arm. He instantly missed the touch but did nothing to try and get it back. “I was worried about you. I am worried about you.”
“I’m fine,” he said on instinct and you gave him a light glare.
“I know that’s not true. You don’t have to hide how you’re feeling from me, Cha Hyun-su. I’m not sure if you trust me already, but I hope you feel you can someday.”
“I do,” he whispered, looking back down at his lap.
“Hm?”
He hesitated for a moment, taking that moment to look up at you again with such a sincere look in his eyes that you felt your heart skip. “I do trust you.”
Your heart skipped again at his words. “You… you do?”
He nodded, interlocking his fingers and averting his gaze back to his lap. You smiled and nodded, your face heating up despite his words being so simple. So simple yet so powerful.
“Now be honest with me. How are you really feeling?” You asked him after the two of you sat in silence for a long moment.
“I’ll be fine,” he reassured you.
“That’s not what I asked, Cha Hyun-su. I asked you how you were right now?” He sighed almost imperceptibly and looked down at his lap, staying quiet. You sighed too, reaching down and pulling out the first-aid kit again. “Now this is familiar, isn’t it?” You teased as you pulled out the band-aids in the kit. “If you don’t want me to see where you’re hurt, that’s fine… but you should treat them. They might heal quickly and you might not die from anything as serious as infection, but you still need to take care of yourself,” you whispered. You took out one of the band-aids before grabbing his hand and wrapping his fingers around the box holding them. Then, you gently lifted his right arm up, presenting the scars on his skin to you. You unwrapped the band-aid you took out and placed it over the healed wound. Then, as a response to the intrusive thought when it popped into your head, you pressed a gentle kiss onto it. Your face flushed and you glanced up at him embarrassingly before gently placing his arm back into his lap. “Goodbye, Cha Hyun-su,” you whispered before turning around and escaping out of the room. Your face burned as you played the whole interaction you had with him over and over in your mind.
Eun-yu, who had originally come looking for you when she didn’t find you in the nursery when she returned, had seen everything and was smiling so brightly. She was serious when she said you were her best friend all those days ago. She didn’t have many friends, so even you showing her the sliver of kindness that you did made her want to keep you in her life forever.
She walked away from the door since you escaped through the other exit and immediately saw her brother and Yoon Ji-su walking towards the door; her brightened smile disappeared immediately when she realized what they were there for.
The night passed by quickly when you fell asleep next to your siblings, holding them tightly and keeping watch until your eyes were too heavy for you to hold them open. You ended up being the last one to wake up. Everyone decided to leave you in peace until you rose on your own, something you were equally frustrated and grateful for.
When you did get up, the first thing you did was head straight to the arcade room and check on Hyun-su. You weren’t sure if he would be upset about what you did yesterday but you didn’t want to avoid him just because of that fear, especially when everyone else made it seem like he was the physical embodiment of the plague.
You walked into the arcade room, expecting Hyun-su to be sitting there and staring off into space but finding the room empty instead. You felt anger but also confusion as it flared inside you. You weren’t sure what they could possibly be sending him up for this time but you were going to find out.
You slammed the surveillance room door open when you got to it and opened your mouth, ready to curse Eun-hyuk out again. You stopped when a familiar figure was staring directly in the lens of one of the cameras.
“Hyun-su?” You asked into the air, but it was quickly replaced with a gasp when his body got flung backwards and was left dangling in the air by a string. It looked like a giant spider web, but you wouldn’t be surprised if the monster was a spider.
“Shit,” you heard Eun-hyuk mutter but your gaze was too trapped on the screen showing the boy you were slowly starting to grow affection for getting wrapped up in the webs of a giant spider-looking creature. “Han Du-sik, you’ll stay here and watch the cameras,” he then turned to you, grabbing your attention away from the screen and directing it to him. “You too.”
“What? No! I need to be down there with you guys!” You protested.
“No, you don’t. What you need to do is be here with your siblings in case something goes wrong. They need you,” he said, and you could tell by his tone that he wanted the same to be true about him and Eun-yu.
You waited for a few seconds, turning the idea over in your head before letting out a sigh and nodding. “Okay, just please bring him back safe.”
“We will.”
~ Chapter 5. 02 ~
I apologize in advance for any spelling or grammar mistakes and how poorly written this fanfic is. English is not my first language and together with my dyslexia ass things can go wrong I'm sorry.
Tumblr media
I was walking further down the hall when I saw Miss Cha fall down on the ground while the guy with burn marks walked away.
"Miss Cha! Are you okay?!" I kneeled beside her while she cried into her hands.
"Did he do something to you?" She shook her head whipping the tears from her cheeks.
"No, no. I asked if he could take me outside." A frown came to my face.
Outside why would she want to go outside?
"It's too dangerous out there. You will get yourself killed." She shook her head standing up.
"I just want to hold her in my arms for the last time." It was the last thing she muttered before walking away from me.
What?
"Her daughter died." I turned my head and saw Yi-kyung standing there.
I had only spoken to her a few times. She's a little distant, but a nice person when you know her. I have spoken more to her fiance than her.
"Min-ju? When?" She walked closer before offering a hand to help me stand up.
"She wasn't here when the building was locked down, but somehow the next day she ended up outside. Before anyone could reach her a monster killed her in front of everybody." Poor Miss Cha.
I guess she wants to go outside to the body of her daughter.
"I don't blame her for reacting like that," I whisper looking at where she just walked off to.
"I know, but killing herself won't help either." I nodded my head looking back at her.
"Where's Sang-won? Is he still in your apartment?"
A pained look washed over her face.
"No, he wasn't inside when the gates closed. I had tried to call him, but the phones aren't working."
I can only imagine how worried she must be. I wish I could help her with this, but we can't go outside to look for him.
"Knowing Sang-won he will probably be fine. He's smart and knows how to take care of himself."
She nodded her head agreeing with me, but I could see the worry in her eyes.
"Have you seen Eun-hyuk? I need to talk to him." I let out a sigh pointing behind me.
"He was in the backroom talking to the infected just a second ago, he's probably still there." She gave a quick thanks before walking away leaving me alone.
I began to walk to the main hall trying to find something to entertain myself. To my surprise, I saw the guy with the burn scars standing there. Seung-wan was guarding the door looking uncomfortable at the man.
"Move." The man spoke in a low voice.
"You do know what's out there, right?" I spoke moving towards the two men.
The man with the scar didn't give me one look or an answer. My eyes went to Seung-wan and saw sweat beginning to form on his forehead, but he managed to say.
"I.... No, you can't...."
"Open it." My head turned around when I heard Eun-hyuk's voice behind us with Hyun-su behind him.
A frown appeared on my face when I saw him with his backpack and spear in his hand. What's he planning on doing?
"Is this okay?" Seung-wan asked with a concerned voice.
"I don't think we can stop him," Eun-hyuk answers looking at the man with the scars.
I hadn't noticed that Hyun-su had made his way next to me until his arm brushed mine making me look at him. Now seeing him more clearly with more lights I could see how tired he looked. I gave him a small smile before looking back at the door.
The man walked towards the door making Seung-wan flinch while saying.
"You're not supposed to..."
But was quickly cut off when the man began to pull everything away from the door.
"Why do you have your spear?" I asked Hyun-su ignoring the loud noises for a bit.
"Oh...uuh. They want me to get Mister Han."
"Alone? We barely survived the last time when we were with four people." I reminded him, scared something could happen again, but who's going to help him when he's alone and unconscious?
"He'll be fine. Besides, he's not alone." Eun-hyuk answers looking at the man with the burn scars.
I shook my head facing him.
"Yeah, he's totally going to help him. I'll go with them." I insisted, but before I could even say something else the two boys stopped me.
"No!"
I took a step forward so I could see them both.
"Thank you for both your guys' concerns, but I can decide for myself."
"It's too dangerous up there. You could get easily killed." Eun-Hyuk spoke looking at me with a stern look.
"So you're telling me he has to go up there and bring down a man in a wheelchair, two kids, and a woman alone while monsters are running loose upstairs?" I asked him with one eyebrow raised.
"H-." Eun-hyuk started, but I quickly pulled him to the side away from everyone's ears.
"You know I can help him with this," I answered.
"You also can get killed while helping."
I shook my head.
"Apparently I can't, seeing how I survived all the things until now. You can't send him up alone." Eun-hyuk looked at me like he knew that I was right, but didn't want to admit it.
"Like I said before. If you want to keep me here you're going to have to tie me down somewhere." He let out a sigh looking down at his feet before looking back up at me.
"Axe."
"What?" I asked confused.
"Go get you're axe out of the security office. You'll need something to defend yourself with." I nodded my head with a big smile on my face before turning around to get my axe.
While walking away I could hear Eun-hyuk let out a sigh of defeat. If he really wanted me to stay down here, he had to lock me up or tie me down. There's no way in hell that I would let Hyun-su go alone upstairs after what we have seen.
My eyes scan the room quickly before finding my axe leaning against the wall. It was weird to have it back in my hands, but I was happy that I had it to defend myself.
With quick steps, I walk back to the stairs seeing the two boys still standing there and the man with the burn scars on his face opening the door.
It seemed like Hyun-su and Eun-hyuk were arguing, but they quickly stopped when Eun-hyuk met my eyes.
"You found it." Hyun-su turned around to see me nod at Eun-hyuk.
There was a loud noise and we saw the man climbing over the stuff that was barricading the door.
"Let's go, the sooner we start the faster we can come back down here," I spoke up getting the two boys' attention before walking to the door of the stairs.
Just like the man I climbed over the stuff before jumping back off of it into the staircase.  I looked behind me and saw Eun-hyuk whispering something into Hyun-Su's ear. I was wondering what it was seeing how a shocked expression came onto Hyun-Su's face.
My head snapped back to the stairs when I heard something move but quickly saw that it was the man who was kicking something to the side while walking further up the stairs. I look back down and my eyes when to the dark red spot on the floor.
That was probably where we landed. I could have died right there, yet I'm here standing alive and breathing.
"Mi-na? Are you okay?"
Blinking a few times I turn around to face Hyun-su who just stepped off the stuff in front of the door.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Come on we have to catch up with mister grumpy face." I mention towards the stairs.
Luckily for us, he wasn't far from us, so we quickly reached him. Without saying anything he just kept on walking after looking over his shoulder to look at us. We were walking onto the fourth floor and we hadn't seen or heard a thing yet. I looked over my shoulders and saw Hyun-su looking down deep in his thoughts.
"Hey, you okay?" I whisper to him making him look up.
"Y...yeah I'm fine." A frown came to my face when I heard his soft and shaky voice.
"You're sure? Was it something that Eun-hyuk said earlier?" I questioned him before he shook his head.
"No, no it's fine." Taking his word for it I nodded my head looking back in front of me.
Not that I really believed him, but we were already nervous enough walking here where there were monsters that I didn't want to push him further.
My #1 post of 2022
youtube
translation by LAZYMOODZ from the video comments. they also translate other moments.
Starting @ 27:02 *Rough translation* About (THAT) kiss scene in ep.6 (: Host: For Phayu & Rain cp, their kiss scene was screen capped a lot and it shows that it wasn't just a kiss only when it's zoomed in. There were some details. So let's talk about it, was there that much detail? Boss: Uh..... Host: Just a moment. Nong Rain first... You were the one who initiated it. You're the one giving him a reward. How do you feel seeing the screencaps that show a bit more than just a kiss? Noeul: You mean... Host: Every scene that we all were screaming about with you two. Noeul: Yes so... Host: Did you see what I saw? Noeul: Yes, I know which screencap it's about. (5555555) If you're talking about THAT screencap... it's not in the script everyone. It's what Boss and I improvised ourselves. Because like I mentioned, at that moment they are two ppl crazy in love who is sharing intimacy. And at that moment, they love each other. Boss: Yes... and I want to explain further... Host: Were you surprised? Boss: (To Noeul) Were you surprised? Host: Just think that Boss isn't here... Noeul: So actually, I can't even remember what I did. Because at that moment, I was focused on him. I wasn't thinking like... we didn't have anything in the script that says we have to, 'touch here or touch there.' I just felt that I love this person and I love him very much. He also loves me too. And I was in a happy mode. I was enjoying it. So I put everything into it. He's mine. I acted with those feelings at that time. And, I can't remember the things I did. When I watched it again... it's like what everyone saw. Host: When you saw the UNCUT did you realize what you did? Noeul: Oh, it was clear. (555555) End around 29 : 00
— therefore, it’s emotion
hyun-su x gn!reader | shortfic
genre: angst, comfort
warnings: mentions of bullying, closing off emotionally, threatening, and apocalypse (yk, sweet home stuff)
synopsis: you meet your high school friend again, in the midst of what seems to be the beginning of an apocalypse. there’s no one you would’ve wanted to meet again as much as him.
author’s note: hyunsu is a great character and i love him
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cha Hyunsu grew to be emotionless.
During his high school days, the boy was cheerful. He had his worries, as every teenager, but had his friends who were there for him, and a family he could count on. He was happy, loved, and loving.
Until the day a student deemed him too arrogant for offering him a few coins to get a drink from the vending machine and decided to start bullying him.
You knew the story all too well, having joined the school just when things had started calming down. Everyone was quiet, but not silent— Word about what had happened between him and that other guy could be heard in any corridor of the school.
So you tried befriending him— To no avail. You only then realized that Cha Hyunsu had completely shut down his emotions.
You met a long while later.
You breathed heavily, hand holding the bar of the staircase as you tried to calm down. The building seemed to be filled with… monsters? To say you’d moved in just a few weeks ago.
What a mess.
And that’s when you saw him.
“Woah!” “Ah!”
You both yelled, you almost stumbling down the stairs and him gripping onto what looked like some sort of makeshift spear for dear life. You both sighed in relief at the realization that it was just… A human, facing another one.
He slowly walked down the stairs and bowed.
“I’m…”
“Cha…” you spoke quietly, “Hyunsu?”
He blinked. And only then did his gaze meet yours. It was the first time he’d ever truly looked at you, ever. Not a flickering gaze, not a glance that would move away as fast as ir came, not a nervous look that barely lasted— He truly, really looked at you. He stared into your eyes with such wonder and surprise that your almost felt like you were going to cry. It might not have seemed much from the summary of your first meeting, but it was.
Truth was, despite how closed off Hyunsu was, your attempts at befriending him didn’t relent. You kept greeting him, talking to him, bringing him lunch when he didn’t go get some himself. You wanted to get to know him, to be his friend.
“You dont have to take pity on me.” he said, sighing deeply. Your eyes widened and grinned a bit as you moved closer to him on the desk.
“You talked to me! That’s the first time!” you exclaimed, chuckling carefreely. “Also, I’m not, trust me. You just seem cool. I wanna be friends.”
He looked away, sinking down into his chair. You looked around. The classroom was empty. Everyone was out eating lunch in the sunlight or simply elsewhere, not wanting rumors to spread around about them soending time with the Cha Hyunsu, considering he always stayed in the classroom during lunch break.
You kept him company, though. And despite the emotionless, shell of a human being that presented itself in front of you— Deep down, Hyunsu was grateful he had someone in the midst of everything. At least one person to hang onto, one person who would help him up, one person who didn’t even blink an eye at his bully’s attempts at threatening them into leaving him all by himself. He could trust you, and that was important to him.
So to him, it wasn’t anything surprising that he remembered your name. You were all he had for… So long. So, so long. Until he eventually distanced himself.
“[name].”
But that was the first time he said your name. Your stared at him, lips parted as a tear ran down his eye onto his cheek. Carefully, instinctively, your hand reached up to touch it, wiping it away. You didn’t think you were worth enough remembering to Cha Hyunsu. You thought your attempts at befriending him and keeping him company for months on end had annoyed him.
“Cha Hyunsu.” you repeated, and he blinked, before slowly nodding. You smiled, and wrapped your arms around him. Cold. Even with the simply hoodie he wore, you could feel how unbelievably cold he was.“I’m so glad to see you again.”
But you were really warm. It was comforting.
He stilled entirely, feeling more tears gather at the corners of his eyes. His hands hesitantly came up to your back before grabbing the fabric of your jacket tightly.
“Me too.” he said, “I’m glad it’s you… That I’m meeting again.”
He’d gotten frightened, before. Therefore, he showed emotion. He said he was glad. Therefore, he showed emotion. He was crying. Therefore, he showed emotions. He let them out. And mirroring him, you started crying as well, hold tightening around him.
You were truly glad to see him again— To see him better than the last time you had before he left you. You were glad his body had, despite its current temperature, finally melted down the ice-cold barrier it had created to protect himself, finally allowing the boy to actually feel.
Truly.
“It hurts, doesn’t it?” you said quietly, “Feelings.”
He nodded into your shoulder, sniffling. “Yes. But I’m glad. For you. For them. It’s painful, in a way I’d missed.”
You chuckled. “How poetic.”
He only tightened his hold on you, burying his face into the curve of your neck and shoulder. You sighed softly. This felt nice.
Not Just a Monster
Warning: blood, violence etc...
21: Outside Invaders
I felt a sense of guilt overwhelm me. When they began to drag Jae-Heon's lifeless body out of the elevator. Leaving the monster inside. I was stuck in a daze, I couldn't hear anything or anyone.
He didn't deserve to die not like this. He should still be alive and with Ji-Su. What will she say? I can't imagine her face finding out he was dead.
I squeezed my eyes shut, but reopened them when I heard my name being softly called. Hyun-Su was still leaning on the storage lockers struggling to get up. He was crying, seeing him in that state made my heart ache never seen him cry before.
Wiping my damp face off I got up and trudged over to him. I couldn't help but to shake Seeing Jae-Heon's blood everywhere and also his decapitated arm laying on the floor.
I averted my scarce eyes, remembering when his arm came flying off. I kept moving until I got to Hyun-Su he looked like he was in pain. But then I noticed his leg, blood was dripping from it and also his bone was sticking out like it had been snapped.
I was sick to my stomach. Seeing all this gore. I held my breath. " Are you okay?" His voice came out as a low whisper. I nodded, my gaze softening. " you're not though." Taking the spear from him. I bent down wrapping my arm over his back pulling him up as he tried to help.
He was heavy when I was successfully done pulling him up. I sat him down on the storage locker. He had brought his leg up, too. I was about to find something to wrap it but I felt his arms sling around my waist.
He buried his face into my pudgy stomach, I stood there frozen As his tears wet my shirt bringing my hand slowly up I ran it through his messy hair, he had given himself a haircut he looked different.
" This is my fault!" He whimpered, blaming himself. But why? He didn't do anything. I shook my head, " it's not your fault. How could've it been?" This just made him sob deeper tugging me closer if possible.
" if I— if I had just rung the bell sooner he wouldn't have died!"
" you don't know that for sure Hyun-Su."
So that was him that tried to warn us. " you did what you could do— no one blames you so don't feel guilty." I hugged him rubbing his back for comfort
" you tried, In the midst of it you got yourself hurt." I motioned towards his injured leg, " this just shows you care and that you're willing to get hurt to save people. You want to be a decent person even though it's fucking hard."
I said this meaning myself included. Bending down I kissed his head, " let's get you out of here okay?" I mentioned, hosting him up by wrapping my long arm around my chest as he slung his over my neck. We began to walk with him slightly limping.
As it still was dripping blood, but it will heal in no time. Making our way through, I had to stay tough for him. I didn't know the relationship between Hyun -Su, and Jae-Heon but I know that he cared for him and Ji-Soo since they came down from the upper apartments that day.
Soon after, Hyun-Su healed the guys had already buried Jae-Heon with the other dead. We were all standing in front of his grave, it was quiet. Hyun-Su stood beside me, he had a Sorrowful frown.
So I slid my hand in with his, he was hesitant as our fingertips brushed against one another. But our hands ended up locking together.
I gave it a gentle squeeze as Gil-Seob came over with a yellow paper flower laying it on Jae-Heon's grave. " you died when you should have lived, and I lived when I should have died."
He stepped back folding his hands together bowing his head. Gil-Seob is right Jae-Heon, he was the one that should have lived and I was the one that was supposed to die.
The funeral lasted for a short while after that, others gave a few words and slowly left. But I stayed, letting go of Hyun-Su's hand. I walked closer to the grave.
" I didn't get to say thank you for the praying session we had earlier, you've helped me I just wish I could've helped you I wish that you got your happy ending with Ji-soo,"
It wasn't fair even if this world was full of unfairness it could have given them a chance. I signed deep, " I'm going to check up on Ji-Soo I'll be back soon." I grabbed Hyun-Su's hand giving it a little squeeze leaving the room.
I figured he had to say some words to Jae-Heon by himself so I didn't want to intrude. Looking everywhere for Ji-Soo it took a while until I found her in a back room. I haven't been in before.
She was sitting in behind a couch, holding half of The katana sword, crying and looking more paler than ever. I frowned, " mine if I take a seat?" she noticed me and nodded. I sat down leaning my head back.
" I'm sorry about what happened, to be honest, it's my fault." I played with my fingers. She looked over at me, a lump formed in my throat I swallowed it continuing.
" I was trying to get Ms. Cha to safety, but the monster kept coming and he was about to hit me and me... I just stood there frozen but Jae-Heon came along and saved me." It was my turn to look at her.
" that doesn't mean it was your fault that could have happened to anyone." Her words were raspy and quiet, but I nodded. " yeah, I guess that's true." I picked up a little piece of my fingernail throwing it.
" it's just I know you're upset, and I know that you guys liked each other." She gripped his sword when I said this. " and it's not fair, but just um think of it this way. He died a hero if that makes you feel any better."
He did die a hero, that's probably the best way to go. I saw a little smile appear on her lips. " He didn't he," she pulled the sword closer to her. We sat there for a while up until I heard a big crash, it sounded like it came from the lobby entrance.
I was about to get up but Ji-Soo grabbed my shirt tugging to stop. " don't... don't go," she coughed, I realized if it was outside Invaders or a big monster they somehow would find Ji-Soo and kill her, she couldn't protect herself right now.
There were all kinds of screaming, I wondered if Hyun-Soo and the others were alright. But soon there was gun a shot that made me jump a little. I don't remember us having any guns?
It was definitely outside Invaders, we kept quiet, not knowing who was shot. I wanted to help and get rid of these bastards. Maybe it has to do with that soldier that came in he acted all weird.
Remembering what he was saying something about the run he was probably warning us. Soon after there was another gunshot followed by footsteps walking this way.
I went stiff seeing the light turn on, and hearing dragging footsteps. I took the half-sword from her ready to use it if necessary. I breathed hard, squeezing my eyes shut then reopening them.
When I felt someone's presence on the couch we were behind, " it's two girls," it was a guy and he said it in a seductive way I didn't like, biting my lip I saw him bringing his crowbar down, " and one of them hurt."
He was about to touch Ji-Soo until I gripped the half-broken sword, swinging it up I smashed the hard end of it in his face. He let out a cry, falling back hitting the floor I was probably sure I Struck his nose.
Getting up he was cussing every breath-holding his face, it was bleeding his nose was all red and starting to well, the dude had crazy hair with ear and lip piercings.
I didn't waste time I ended up kicking his dirty face, in his head flew back. " try and touch her again you bitch!" I threatened, about to hit him where the sun doesn't sunshine until I felt something hard come in contact with my head right near my eyebrow.
They both threw the crowbar at me. Blood soon blurred my vision, seeing the creep get up he tackled me to the ground. I kneed his stomach, hearing him grunt I pushed him off me trying to get up but a sharp pain went through my leg.
I screamed out as He kept making weird-ass sounds, I saw him lick the bloodied crowbar, I almost puked feeling sick. I was about to hit him with the sword again up until I heard another voice.
I stopped, " that's enough," my head turned it was another guy about my age again he looked more decent but I didn't trust its looks were deceiving. " that's not the time to be doing that right now."
He suggested, piping his head out the door. but the crazy bitch looked up in anger. Like he was about to Growl. " get out." He tried to seem threatening but the boy just sighed walking in. " Jeung-Seop is looking for you." He took a small glance at me.
I tried to control my breathing as my leg was gushing blood I was in serious pain. " don't call him by his name you sad little pussy!!" He yelled at the boy but he just rolled his eyes Unphased. " It's not the time to be doing that right now. You could be killed."
He mentioned towards me, " by Jeung-Seop." Staring at the creep, he looked scared with his mouth wide open. But I saw him give the other boy a mean look getting up he walked away. With the other guy.
I let out a breath I didn't know I even had, I was shaking Scooting my leg up I hiss in pain, I ended up grabbing a cloth wrapping my leg tight. The dirty was fabric was already beginning to satin red.
Slowly I pushed myself up with my hands standing on my feet I wobbled a bit, I felt limping over towards the couch. I looked over it seeing Ji-Soo holding her side. " are you okay." I asked taking a deep breath.
My head felt fuzzy, I could see she nodded. " okay, I'm going to barricade the doors so they won't get in." I was about to go until she spoke up. " aren't– aren't you hurt." She whispered, I nodded.
" I'll be fine." Knowing it will heal soon mine just takes a little while. Even though it hurts I blocked the back door pushing furniture and other things against it. Making sure they won't be able to get in.
Next, I shuffled towards the other door giving back the sword to Ji-Soo I was about to shut it. " where are you going?" she questioned, " I'll come back later, I have to make sure you're safe first." was all I said locking the door from the inside shutting it.
I had grabbed a weapon, making sure if I run up on one of them I may be injured but I would surely use it. As I walked down the hallway ready to attack. I could feel my leg healing up by the minute.
Hyun-su ran around his apartment, trying to find the blue duct tape he knew he had somewhere. When he found it, he brought it over to the kitchen counter where he used half of it to tape his biggest kitchen knife to the end of his mop stick, effectively creating a spear that he would use against any monster he might’ve encountered.
Once he was done with making his weapon, Hyun-su gathered his jacket and anything he thought he would need in his small black backpack's pockets as he got ready to go. With the final thing being his phone and headphones, he grabbed both and stood a foot away from the door. There was a moment of hesitation and doubt that slipped through his mind when he made a call to 112 and heard the noise but he wouldn’t let himself back out. Those kids needed someone to help them and he wasn’t going to let them die from his negligence.
With his shaking hands gripping his spear and the handle of his door, he stepped out of his apartment and into the hallway, prepared to travel the short distance to the room of the man from earlier.
‘1408,’ he thought to himself, reminding himself of where he was headed.
His movements were as silent as he could make them as he closed the door to his apartment behind him and snuck through the hallway, eventually arriving at the door and stepping through, just as the man had told him to do. He took off his shoes and placed them beside the door, not wanting to be rude even in the face of the end of the world.
The man watched him enter with a straight face. “My name is Han Du-sik,” he started off the conversation when he realized Hyun-su wouldn’t. “You?”
“I’m Cha Hyun-su,” he said while averting his eyes from the man, instead focusing on the floor in front of him.
“You’re a little shy, huh?” Du-sik asked. His tone wasn’t teasing, just a simple observation.
Hyun-su ignored his words and shot his head up, asking the one question he traveled to the man’s house for in the first place. “How can we…” he stopped when he saw the way Du-sik looked at the word ‘we’. “How can I save the kids?”
“Well, it’s all on you,” Du-sik confessed. There were the sounds of metal parts moving together as he moved himself out from behind the desk he was previously settled at. With his legs now showing to the boy, Hyun-su could see he was sitting in a wheelchair and realized it truly was down to him and only him to save the kids. “Should I?”
Hyun-su breathed out, a sound of what must’ve been a mix of embarrassment and apprehension releasing with the exhale. Du-sik let out a sigh before speaking again to fill the silence. “I used to be a legend in Cheonggyecheon. You heard? They can build any tank as long as they have a blueprint,” he explained with a hand tiled diagonally to emphasize his point. He smiled reassuringly but Hyun-su continued to look at him with the same face he entered the room with. He let out a little hum of agreement, still mostly in shock from everything. Du-sik hissed out a breath from the silence once again filling the room. “What that means is I can transform your little stick into something much more useful,” he explained further. His words drew Hyun-su’s attention back to him and he pointed at the staff in his hand. “Hand me that thing?”
“What?” Hyun-su replied rather dumbly, his voice breathless and perfectly portraying his lack of awareness at that moment.
“Bring that over here. Your spear,” Du-sik demanded.
“Oh, this,” the boy looked down at his hand and realized exactly what he wanted before stepping forward. The older man leaned back when the knife’s edge was pointed toward him and Hyun-su quickly righted the way he handed the staff to him, facing the sharp point toward himself instead. He looked away from the intense eyes of the man after he’d finished inspecting the weapon, only returning his gaze when he moved back to the desk and started gathering the items he would need to upgrade his weapon.
The two sat in silence as he worked and Hyun-su found himself thinking back to all the interactions he had with the pretty girl who haunted his thoughts.
You.
You were like an angel with the way you moved, smiling so innocently at the security guard before he watched your face fall when you looked away. He’d felt butterflies flutter in his stomach when you directed a much more genuine smile his way when you noticed his stare. He’d felt them again when you were so effortlessly nice and held the elevator for him and when you’d expressed concern for his eating habits just a short while later. It was like night and day the way your kindness flooded through him each of the few times the two of you interacted versus the way he was treated all throughout the past few years of his life. Of course, those two encounters were hardly comparable but he couldn’t help but feel like you were truly an angel compared to so many of the people in his life. He wished he’d seen you again before all this happened but life seemed to never be on his side.
It didn't help that he couldn’t remember what floor you got off on. He cursed himself for having two opportunities in the elevator with you to figure it out but being too distracted for both of them. To be fair, he was too busy admiring the way your smile lit up the dimly lit box room and how your laugh made him feel like there was nothing wrong with the world for a few seconds. Not to mention the concern you expressed towards him when you met him on the roof during your second meeting made his tongue - that seemed to always tie itself into a knot around you - roll into a pretzel.
He got out of his own head with a fright when Mr. Han turned on the electric mode of his now-improved spear. It zapped and reflected its light off the sides of the room, reminding the boy of lightning.
“They still move around with their heads chopped off,” Mr. Han reminded the boy. “A kitchen knife can’t do the job. But this will do.”
“You think… I can kill them with that thing?” Hyun-su asked, pointing at the monstrous creation of a weapon held in the man’s hands.
“No, you cannot.”
“How do you know that?” He asked him.
Mr. Han let out a sigh of exasperation before leaning forward and looking Hyun-su dead in the eye. “I just know it. Avoid them at all costs,” he warned. “If you come across one, run as fast as you can... no… Don’t even let them see you, yeah?”
Hyun-su swallowed nervously before his eyes settled on the makeshift weapons attached to Mr. Han’s wheelchair. “Then, why don’t you give me one of your bigger weapons?” He queried as he pointed to one of the crutches.
“No. It’s no good. This can only fire a few shots at a time. I already fired one. I might need another one. And,” he told him before a small smile lit up his face. “The last bullet is reserved for me only. So I don’t die old.”
Hyun-su nodded in understanding before collecting the weapon from the man, stuffing the main power box into the backpack he brought over, and returning the headphones to his ears, calling 112 again. He gave a quick reassurance to the man that he would be back with the kids before exiting the room and swiftly making his way down the hallway towards the stairs.
Warnings: The spider monster attack, reader gets injured (we love an injured queen), Hyun-su finally gets to choose his destiny (he pulls a Britney Spears). Word Count: 2,260
You couldn’t stand watching the scene of Hyun-su just dangling in the air, wrapped up with nowhere to go and unable to do anything about it.
Instead, you went back to the nursery to find your siblings. When you got there, you only saw Yeong-su playing with his dinosaur next to Jin-ok and you walked over to lean down next to him. “Annyeong Yeong-su, have you seen your sister anywhere?” You asked him.
He looked up at you with a small pout. “No. She said she’d come play dinosaurs with me but she hasn’t come yet.”
“I’ll go find her and then the three of us can play. How about that?” You asked him with a smile and he immediately brightened up, nodding ecstatically.
So, you ventured off to find your sister, using it as a distraction from the rescue mission you weren’t participating in on the floor below you. It took you a while but you finally saw her just wandering the halls with a lost look on her face. It brightened when she saw you and you smiled at her. “Yeodongsaeng, you know you’re not supposed to be going off on your own. You’ll get lost or something could happen!” You lightly scolded and held out your hand for her to grab. She did happily and you started leading her in the direction of the nursery.
“I didn’t mean to, I was just trying to find Mr. Ha-” She was cut off by an ear-piercing screech that sounded from right behind you. You were already preparing to run even before you saw the eight-legged creature crawl out of a vent on the ceiling.
You acted purely on instinct when you picked Su-yeong up and started running. She screamed as she saw the monster quickly approaching you from behind and hid her face in your neck. You rounded the corner just in time to avoid the beast crashing into you, sending it flying into the wall with a sickening crack! instead. You let out a breath of relief when you saw Mr. Han aiming his crutch gun at the beast and you pushed your legs even faster. “Han Du-sik, move!” You screamed at him when the monster fell to the floor, incapacitated. You knew it would only stay down for so long and you wanted him to get out of there as soon as possible, especially with him being at a disadvantage.
You didn’t look back, but you could hear the squeaking of his wheels as he pushed them vigorously and sped away. You were set on getting Su-yeong to Jin-ok with your brother and protecting her before retreating to help the man; your axe was in the nursery anyways.
When you got there, you could see the room was boarded up, each of the residents completely abandoning the drill exercises you all had practiced so many times. It made you furious but you couldn’t do anything about it at that moment.
You banged harshly on the door to let them know you were out there before setting Su-yeong down and crouching to be at her level. “Get them to open the door for you and stay with Ms. Cha and Yeong-su, okay? I’m going to go help Mr. Han deal with the monster.”
You gave her a kiss on the forehead and ran away, leaving no room for a discussion as you barrelled to where you last saw Du-sik, completely abandoning your axe that was stored inside.
Sure enough, you found him, but he was lying on the floor, his wheelchair lying sideways with the wheels spinning aimlessly. “Han Du-sik!” You called out, running towards him and putting your arms under his armpits. You tried pulling him away despite his pleas to run away but you weren’t strong enough. The monster arrived just as you’d barely gotten him six feet away from where you found him and you cursed under your breath.
Just when you collapsed, falling beside the man and preparing yourself for the monster’s attack as it neared, Du-sik slammed his crutch against a lever on the pillar beside you. A string attached itself to one of the monster’s legs and left it dangling in the air. You almost let out a sigh of relief until you felt a searing pain slash against your side and you were sent flying in the air.
One of the spider monster’s legs had flailed around and gone clean through your shirt and side. It held onto your shirt while Han Du-sik grabbed onto your ankle, trying to pull you back. You were amazed at how your flimsy T-shirt was holding strong while the body it surrounded was being tugged in two different directions.
Turning as much as you could while in the hold of both the monster and Mr. Han, you banged your fists against any part of the monster you could reach with every ounce of strength you had. Your - still injured from you punching the glass case holding the axe just barely three days ago - hand’s wounds must have reopened because you could see the white bandage that wrapped around it was starting to stain itself with a growing blood patch.
Then, as quickly as you were raised into the air, you were dropped. You fell onto your back, the wind getting knocked out of you and you gasped uselessly. You could distantly hear Mr. Han screaming for you to run away but you could only bring yourself to move a few meters before you collapsed again, still unable to breathe and gasping for air. You gripped at your shirt and clawed at your neck for air until finally, finally, you felt a breath of air find its way into your lungs. You panted heavily, taking in breath after breath greedily and mentally thanking every single tree that existed. You looked up and saw one of the claws had pierced right through Du-sik’s leg, leaving it a bleeding mess on the floor. His face showed no pain so you assumed he couldn’t feel it but it was still a worrying sight.
You could truly only watch as he hit the monsterized leg going through his own leg. The lack of air, along with the blood loss you were going through with your side bleeding profusely, made your body weak.
You thanked your saviors when he was able to dislodge the claw and the beast was sent into the air by the group of girls holding the rope. When you looked over, you were able to see your little sister among the mix of people holding the rope; the only one you didn’t see was Eun-yu-
“You ugly eight-legged bastard freak! Fuck you!”
Speak of the devil.
Eun-yu came sprinting up behind you with a lit Molotov cocktail and chucked it at the monster. You knew she was most likely aiming at its torso but with the way it was thrashing around she only managed to set one of its legs on fire. Regardless, you thanked her mentally as she helped you up and started to basically drag you away to a safer location. You made a note to thank her verbally whenever you regained the ability to speak.
You stumbled alongside her until you both swung around when you heard screams as the group fell, losing their grip on the creature and unintentionally setting it free.
You watched as its sights set on you and Eun-yu.
You watched it regain its footing and start crawling towards you.
You watched the horror dawn itself on Eun-yu’s face.
And so you did it without thinking.
You used every ounce of strength left in your body to shove Eun-yu out of the way. She looked up as you did and screamed your name. A sad smile spread on your face as you accepted your fate. Your only regret was never saying goodbye to your siblings, forcing them to live as they had with your father’s death. You closed your eyes and waited as the creature approached. The screams of all the residents echoed through the room and the howls of the beast got closer and closer until-
What you expected to be sharp claws were instead replaced by a calloused hand spinning you around so that you were back to back with your savior.
You knew who it was immediately just from the feel of his hand on your skin. Despite the interaction being so fleeting, you didn’t think you’d ever be able to forget the feeling. It was just so uniquely him.
Ji-su suddenly ran up to you just as Eun-yu reached you and together, they helped drag you over to the wall. They leaned you against it and Eun-yu immediately started putting pressure on the laceration on your side. You cried out at the pain but didn't resist it - partly because you were too weak to but also because you knew it would stop you from bleeding out.
Hyun-su got stabbed multiple times by the monster and you watched it take him down, falling on top of him with screeching howls. The sight was horrifying and if you were strong enough you would have pushed Eun-yu and Ji-su away to rush over and help him.
It went on for an excruciatingly long minute before both parties of the fight stopped moving. You held your breath - which hurt your side like crazy but you ignored it - and waited, praying he was okay.
‘Let him be okay. You can take me away but please, please let him be okay...’ You pleaded in your head.
He finally moved, pushing the monster off and away from him. The sigh of relief you let out was painful but worth it. Wasting no time, he stood up, putting nearly all of his weight on the spear he held and panting heavily.
Everyone stared at him; some gazes thankful, some in shock, some in fear.
And then there was yours. Your gaze of such relief and affection and…
No… it couldn’t be… right?
You’d barely even known each other for more than two months, and the first month of that was just brief interactions that lasted probably much longer than they should have.
But there was no other way you could describe this feeling. No other way to describe how your heart lit up just at the sound of his name. How fiercely protective you got whenever someone talked down on him. How you longed for his presence when he was gone. How you were always drawn back to him no matter how hard they (Eun-hyuk) tried to separate you. How you felt no fear for him no matter what state he was in.
So that’s what it must be.
Love.
His eyes found yours and the small voids that absorbed all light like a black hole slowly retreated back into his pupils. His gaze traveled down from your eyes to where Eun-yu’s hands were still pressed into the wound on your side before he looked away. You could see the flash of guilt that covered his face when he saw the blood leaking from behind your shirt and immediately knew his mind was sent into the realm of self-blame.
He turned, starting to limp in the direction of the arcade room no doubt. He used his spear as a crutch and you yearned to reach for him and help him, but all you could do was watch helplessly as he walked off.
You tugged on Eun-yu’s sleeve with a pleading look. “Help me.”
She nodded, allowing you to wrap an arm around her neck while keeping her hand on your wound and assisting you as you followed after the boy.
Everyone else seemed to have the same idea as they got there before you, allowing you to watch as Hyun-su opened the door and stepped one foot through the frame before stopping at the sound of his name falling from Ji-eun’s mouth as she stepped to the front.
“Hyun-su,” she called. He stopped and slowly turned around to face her. “I’m sorry. I know we made… things more difficult for you.”
He just stood there watching her, his feelings of confusion and gratefulness at her apology plainly showing on his face.
Eun-hyuk stepped up next, saying what you’d been begging him to since the beginning. “This time, we’ll let you choose.”
The two choices he had were evident despite Eun-hyuk’s lack of saying them aloud.
Continue to spend his time in the arcade room, quarantining himself from everyone else.
Or:
Leave the arcade room and join the rest of the residents in their - as free as can be - free lives.
He stared at the boy who’d just granted him the choice regarding his freedom before skimming his eyes along everyone else. They stopped on you for a moment longer than needed before he turned back to the door. You nearly let out a sob at what you thought would be him going back into the arcade room regardless of the choice given to him, but you were quickly relieved when he retrieved the foot placed inside the room and closed the door. Once he turned back around, you were barely able to give him a smile and sigh out in relief before you could feel yourself fading.
“Fuck,” you said to yourself softly. Your arm started to slide from its place around Eun-yu despite her efforts to catch you and you fell to your knees before everything went black.
The last thing you remembered was the embrace of someone with soft, yet calloused, hands.
Hyun-su knew he couldn’t ignore the two kids screaming for their fallen father in the room two floors below him. He just couldn’t.
And so he didn’t. He threw the monitor of his computer on top of the multi-eyed monster, effectively taking the creature out of the kid’s apartment and saving them. Unfortunately, this caused the monster’s attention to focus on him instead.
He grabbed the mop he’d destroyed earlier in order to create a weapon and turned back around to face the window. His hands shook around the makeshift spear and he could hear the blood pumping in his ears, but he wouldn’t go down.
Not like this.
Not without a fight.
The multi-eyed monster stuck its eye through the window, looking directly at Hyun-su before turning and revealing a much larger eye. The boy gasped in fear but didn’t hesitate to stab the beast in the eye when it lunged for him. As it closed its eye, he tried turning around and running away. He was unsuccessful when the beast wrapped its insanely long neck around his body, lifting him off the ground and torturously crushing him. His veins protruded from the skin on his neck and his teeth clenched from the overwhelming pain.
Just as his vision started to go dark and he thought his time was ending, a loud snapping sound was heard and he fell to the floor, his head luckily landing on the soft cushion of his mattress. He took heavy, painful breaths as he looked at the decapitated head of the monster previously suffocating him and watched as its eyes glazed over, looking like it froze the second it was separated from the rest of its body.
When he finally got ahold of his breath, he stood and stumbled to the window in shock, looking at the next window over and seeing a man older than him holding a homemade walking crutch/gun contraption. The man was still aiming the weapon at Hyun-su’s window before lowering it when he saw the non-monsterized boy.
They shared a moment of eye contact before the man disappeared back into his apartment only to reappear with an ‘ICE COLD’ beer. As he practically chugged the thing, Hyun-su could only watch in a mix of awe and fear. He ignored the bits of broken glass that dug into his hands as he gripped the sill of his broken window. To be honest, he could barely even feel them with the rush of adrenaline that still pumped through his veins.
When the man brought the drink away from his lips and looked back at the boy, he tried to talk only to be shushed. Hyun-su nodded in understanding as the man retrieved a large notebook and wrote a message on it to show him.
“THEY MIGHT COME IF THEY HEAR ANYTHING.
THOSE THINGS DON’T DIE.”
When Hyun-su gave no expression of understanding the words he had written, the man gestured to the ground where the monster had just fallen with his head.
And when Hyun-su did as instructed, his eyes widened and he gasped and realized just how bad this apocalyptic epidemic was. The creature below snapped off the rest of its neck, the body standing up like nothing had even happened.
“Appa!” The girl who lost her father screamed from below him, drawing his attention back to the, now parentless, kids he just saved. “Appa!”
He looked back at the man desperately, his face showing the anguished emotions he felt.
“DO YOU WANT TO SAVE THE KIDS?” The next page of text the man showed him said. He couldn’t seem to get his body under his mind’s control and ended up just staring at the man.
“IF YOU MAKE A CALL AND LEAVE IT RINGING IT’LL MAKE A NOISE WHEN A MONSTER IS NEAR YOU.
COME WHEN YOUR MIND’S MADE UP. I’LL BE IN ROOM 1408.
THE DOOR WILL BE OPEN FOR WHEN YOU ARRIVE.”
Hyun-su nodded mindlessly to the man before returning to the ‘safety’ of his apartment. He sat on the bed for many minutes just trying to calm his thoughts and come to terms with all the world has started to become. He avoided looking at the frozen head of eyes sitting limply on his living room floor.
When he finally snapped out of his pity party, he nodded with a newfound determination.
He was going to save those kids.
Not just a monster
Warning: blood, graphic image, Alcohol
11: little Kind gestures
Everyone was gathered together for Mrs. Cha's daughter and the military man guy's funeral that was in one part of the building that was opened up during construction that had tons of small trees and dirt covering the floor.
It was all quiet no one said anything, I was way in the back but I ended up finding flowers in a vase they were carnations. I would put mine on their grave after everyone left.
" they were born humans and they will die as humans." one of the old man's said that I met up in the upper apartments. One by one they left, Until it was just me.
Walking over to the twos grave I placed one flower on each. " at least you guys don't have to suffer in this crazy world anymore rest in piece."
I bid my farewells and left the room, it was pretty much quiet here on after. I just sat in the day-care-center. I should go and talk to Hyun-Su I didn't need to leave him like that.
He probably doesn't want anything to do with me for ignoring him. I wouldn't want to deal with me either. Deciding to go I needed to apologize and explain what I did.
Looking through the window of the Quarantine room I didn't see Hyun-Su. If he's not in here then where is he? I thought he wasn't suppose to be out. Hell I wasn't suppose to be walking around here either.
The only person was Suk-hyun he was standing in front of the the other window that had bars his nose pouring blood. It made me feel sick to my stomach.
I hate to ask him but I needed to know where He was. " hey where is Hyun-Su?" Suk-Hyun mumbled something under his breath but I couldn't hear him. I think he was doing this on purpose just to piss me off.
"  Go ask someone who actually cares." Suk-Hyun waved me off, I'm pretty sure he was angry Hyun-Su got to get out and he didn't. Sulking in his own pity.
I huffed, knowing I'm not going to get an answer. I walked away going to the main entrance but stopped when I heard screaming. What if it was Hyun-Su, did he finally turn?
I hope not, Taking off I was scared, I didn't want to see him as one of those terrifying Creatures and someone possibly kill him.
When I got there some was huddled up and others were ready to attack. I didn't see Hyun-Su though instead it was Ji-Soo! Her body was twitching every which way. Her head falling from side to side and blood was pouring out from her nose.
She was Infected
I felt sadness overwhelm me, she seemed like such a good person. Before she could get near us Eun-Hyuk rang the bell as Yi-Kyeong got her weapon ready.
I didn't want to hurt her especially where she was Vulnerable at the moment. But I couldn't let everyone get hurt especially the kids. Taking out my Machete, me and Yoo-Ri got in front of them.
Jae-Heon the Priest with the Samurai sword stood in front of Ji-Soo, I held my breath knowing they were good friends.  If he had to kill her it would be devastating. Backing up he led her away from from the ground gripping his sword.
Everyone was still, gazing down I saw nets on the ground. He was leading her to them. After a couple more steps he got her on the net making Seung-Wan, Jae-Hwan, and Byeong-ll were pulling the rope and the nets came flying up trapping Ji-Su in them.
Her Inhumanely grunts and cry's could be heard. Was that what I really looked like at the airport around everyone? No wonder they were scared?
Ji-Soo began to quiet down meaning she was computer of the stage of monsterization. Hearts beating fast and Perspiration ran down are backs Nervousness consuming all of us.
First, me which I've had it before I got here, then Hyun-Su there's no telling how long he has had it. And lastly Suk-Hyun and Ji-Soo No one knew who will be next? Fear was in everyone well except Eun-Yoo.
Mentioning her she started clapping, " This is great, have fun!" She got up and left the room. " are they really siblings, was she adopted or something?" Hye-In
Looking over at Eun-Hyuk he didn't look to happy at the mention of that. " let's call it a day, good work." After letting Ji-Soo down gently, everyone Dispersed going there own way.
She laid on the floor her eyes were closed as she breathed heavily. Lowering my weapon I went over to help her. Sticking out my hand she grabbed it and I pulled her up.
" are you alright?" I asked knowing what it was like to go through this even if she didn't know. Huffing, she nodded, " I'm alright." She tried to convince me but knowing that you were infected you were never alright.
Giving her space I let her leave, being the only one in the room. I hoped no one gave her a hard time knowing they will lock her up like the others. I'm just surprised Eun-Yoo hasn't said anything about me.
But that means I shouldn't worry because she could use that against me anytime. Not knowing what else to do I walked into the Small Convenient stores they had.
Taking a look around I saw bottles of wine. I know I was underage but I won't live long enough to grow up as an adult to even get to drink. I wasn't  doing it for fun but maybe it could take my problems away for a bit.
Taking off the Corkscrew I drank from the bottle but I immediately spit it back out. It was so bitter, shaking my head I didn't like it what was I even thinking?
Putting that down I wasn't going to Tempted again it leaving a sour taste in my mouth. I stayed in there for a few more minutes I found a pack of Band-Aids knowing I was running low on them.
Walking out I saw Hyun-Su, he had his spear. And a bag full of stuff frowning my brows I realize where he had been. Gripping the box in my hand, we just stood there not saying anything.
He looked Irritated, probably because  Eun-Hyuk sent him to go up there and get supplies. I wanted to apologize and ask if he was okay. If I would have known he had went up there I would've taken his place.
Eun-Hyuk didn't listen to me maybe he act doesn't care about peoples lives? He was getting ready to say something to me but was interrupted.
" Soo,Nico its your turn to guard the Quarantine room." Hye-In informed me, while Hyun-Su was standing right next to me.  Maybe this will give me a chance to talk to him.
We parted ways, since he had to give the stuff away he had to get for people. Making my way to the door to the the man in the wheelchair. " Hye-In said it was my turn to guard."
The old man nodded, but he didn't leave it was like he was waiting for someone. " I don't think this is right." I told him and he nodded his head agreeing.
I could see that he cared about Hyun-Su not just a few minutes later he came through. With a sad expression on his face staring at the door. He took the keys from the old man unlocking the door.
Then went to give it back to him, but he grabbed Hyun-Su hands trying to comfort him I guess it didn't work. The old man then wheeled away I could tell he wasn't happy he had the same look I had when I went to confront Eun-hyuk.
Before Hyun-Su went in a grabbed his arm gripping at his coat sleeve. I didn't know what I was doing. " why did you do it?" I hadn't realized he was talking to me.
" Pardon?"
" why did you go up there without me?" I knew he would say something along the lines of this. " –because it wasn't right and you don't need to risk yourself for there needs." I confessed, Swallowing my nervousness.
" and you do? You're not even a monster."  Yes I am, if only you knew? And I don't know why I risked my life maybe it's because I was wanted to help.
" does it really matter if I am or not? I wanted to help you because you aren't being treated fairly!"  I saw Hyun-Su shoulder slump down, " I appreciate your help but I'm not worth the trouble."
That's when he pushed open the door making me let go of his sleeve. But I caught his hand in time. He was taken back my action face flushing red. I held it tight.
Taking my other hand I put the box of ban-aids in his. I know he didn't need them but it's the small gesture that counts I can always get more.
" go before you get in trouble." Hyun-Su stood there like he was in a daze. So I had to give him a little push. He was still staring at me when I had shut the door.
Not Just a Monster
Warning: violence, blood, talks about self harm
12: Little kind gestures Pt2
I felt my heart flutter right through my chest. I had just held his hand, not thinking it through. It was warm and soft, sure I've held other guys hands but there's was nothing like Hyun-Su's
I wonder what he was thinking? He probably thinks I'm wired, Turing my head to see if he was still there I breathed out in relief when he wasn't.
A smile must have crept onto my lips because I felt my cheeks heat up. I don't know why I was smiling or why my heart was beating a mile per minute?
It shouldn't be because I'm in on shape or form to be thinking about someone like that especially when we're both infected we have our problems to deal with.
Sitting down on the chair that was in front of the door I didn't know why I had to guard others let Hyun-Su or the others out if Eun-Hyuk needed them.
It was most likely Hyun-Su though, waiting around a couple of people came up to the cell holding a piece of paper in their hand it was Jay-Hwan.
Standing up I crossed my arms, " what are you here for?" I questioned, he Extended out his hand and I immediately snatched it from his hands.
Flipping it open I read it was a list of objects he wanted Hyun-Su to get. I rolled my eyes he had just got back not even a few minutes ago and now they're wanting him to go back?
Bullshit!
" really? He just back, now you're wanting him to go up there again?" I shoved the piece of paper back into his hands. The guy scoffed, " so, it's the only thing he's good for."
He shoved past me calling for Hyun-Su, if I could only punch the guy in his face multiple times to get some sense into him I would be content.
" I could do it."
I hurried and spoke before he got here. Jay-Hwan turned and looked at me Raising his brow. " you?" I nodded, " I made it back last time with the guy in the wheelchair and a couple of others."
" That was you?" I couldn't stop myself so I flicked his head, for his dumb question, he made an 'Ow' sound rubbing it. " who else Casper?" I proclaimed.
I a couple of people chuckled, Just give me the paper and I'll be off. He was about to give it to me when Hyun-Su's voice stopped us. " another request?"
" more like a demand," I uttered under my breath. But that was meant to be heard. Jae-Hwan gave me a sharp glare, there turned to Hyun-Su.
" just a couple of things, I need." He slid the paper through the small bars on the door. He grabbed it looking it over, " I already said I would do it!" I barked, he shrugged.
" let me get my things." Jae-hwan smirked, " trying to protect your boyfriend huh?" He whispered when Hyun-Su left. Was he trying to poi's me off? " he's not my boyfriend!" retorted back.
We began to bicker until Hyun-Su got back. " Make sure you get everything!" Jay-Hwan said in a threatened, manner. And his group of friends left.
How do people like that Survive In a world like this? I shook my head unlocking the door letting Hyun-Su out. Walking out he stopped gripping his spear, " I wouldn't worry about him, people like that don't Survive long anyway."
I sighed, shaking my head, " what about me?" I frowned looking up at him, thinking it over truly no one Survives in a world like this even the good. " well you know what I mean? At least you're not a jerk." I pointed out.
In the corner of my eye, I saw a small Tug on his lips. I didn't say anything because he knew he would deny it. " well you should get going don't want to keep them waiting."
Hyun-Su nodded. About to leave but I grabbed his jacket sleeve, " be careful okay, promise." I grabbed his hand linking our pinky's then pressing our thumbs together.
" there know you just promised me." I smiled, but he was staring at me again deciding to ignore the awkward situation I let go. " go," I pushy-him to get a move on. Shewing him away with my hands.
As he did he kept looking back in the got to the end of the hall Disappearing. After he was gone I leaned back on one of the door letting out a deep breath. What did I just do?
I keep thinking and say I shouldn't like him and I shouldn't get close but it's like I can't help myself and I ignore my warnings. Why was this so frustrating and Complicated.
Sitting down again, I closed the door locking it, sitting down again. I looked at my clothes noticing how bad condition they were in. All bloodied and ripped up I needed something new to wear.
Getting up, there's no since in guarding unless Hyun-Su was in there in case someone wanted to request something. And Suk-Hyun wouldn't come out he's been quiet for a while but I wasn't complaining.
Getting up I taking the keys I walked over to the office, and gave Eun-Hyuk the keys before walking out he began to talk. " make sure someone else is guarding we don't won't no brake outs." He said looking through some types books.
" of course," was the only thing I said then walked out, searching for someone to guard the door, I soon found the man I met upstairs. " Gil-Seob do you mind guarding right now."
He was up on a latter with I'm not Binoculars searching for something. He lowered them taking a quick nod. " sure kid, I probably need to rest my eyes anyway." He climbed downs.
I bowed saying thank you and we took are separate ways. Walking over to the day-care-Center I checked if anyone's was in the room. Finding no one, I closed the door going over to the couch I dragged out my duffel bag I stuffed under there.
Unzipping the bag I pulled out a shirt and a dark blue shirt with skate boarding skeletons on it. I then slid on my brown Demi jacket.
Feeling better in new clothes I found in a basket of clothes, I zipped it back up and pushed back under the couch. I wonder if Hyun-Su was doing right now?
I hope he wasn't fighting a monster, biting the inside of my lip I prayed he was okay. Going out I saw the group was in the entrance backing away from something, getting a closer look I saw it was coming from another hallway that led to one of Quarantine room doors.
It slowly came into view, it was all hairy with long hair. It reminded me of a Sloth from how slow it moved towards us. Hearing gasps people Readied there weapons I heart sunk wondering if it was Hyun-Su but it couldn't be since there was no way he was back yet.
Then I realized who it was it was Suk-Hyun he had finally turned in someway I felt bad for him even though he was a complete ass no one really Deserves this.
The Mysterious looking guy came in front of him as if he was going to kill the monster but the store owner wife came into view. " that's my husband, stay back." She moved towards him with a bat in her hands.
I knew what she was about to do, the group kept telling her not to get close but she just Ignored them. " pull yourself together Suk-Hyun!"
She ordered them a hand shot out from his mop of hair. She the said it a second time a hit him upside the head with the metal bar screaming.
" you decided to come back. Any last words?" I couldn't watch, even though I didn't like the guy it was still heartbreaking. She then started to hit then guy in the head.
Hearing the kids cry out watching this scene unfold I grabbed them covering there eyes. As I shut mine, cringing at the cracking and mushing sounds.
I took the kids away because they didn't need to witness this. I didn't either knowing I will turn and they will do this to me I couldn't take it. The thought of them killing me made me want to cry.
Going near the Quarantine room I saw the door had been busted open. I stuck the kids in there because the day-care-Center was on the other side were it was happing.
Blood and hair was all over the place I wanted to puke. I sat the kids on Hyun-Su's mattress. " are they going to do that to Hyun-Su?" Yeong-Su blurted out, I could tell he was concerned.
Knowing I can't lie because they would, I nodded. Going over to the kids, I sat down with each of them on my side. " why? Hyun-Su's my friend." The little boy did a pouty face. I wanted to smile but I couldn't, " because They think all monsters are bad but let me tell you guys something?"
I brought the closer hugging the kids. " not all monsters do monstrous things. Sometimes they even defeat the bad guys that can be humans." I tried to explain not all of us where terrible.
The kids nodded trying to understand, where I was coming from. " Hyun-Su won't hurt us right?" Su-Yeong asked leanings in my side.
" No, I don't see that happening just remember what I just told you okay." I patted her back. " we are going to wait here until it's all over with okay?"
The kids then agreed, as we waited they soon left the room with Mrs. Cha that came to get them I stayed in here so after I started to hear footsteps coming this way.
I soon realized it was Hyun-Su he was back, I closed my eyes breathing out he was okay I began to get worried. He came into the room I then noticed some blood on his face. He seemed Surprised seeing me in here.
" I didn't want to watch." I brought my knees up to my chest, Hyun-Su just stared down thinking of something, was it because of what happened with Suk-Hyun?
Padding a seat on the softish mattress, I got his attention and waved for him to sit down. " come." He did as told and took a seat. " Are you okay?" I knew he wasn't if he saw what happened to Suk-Hyun.
" yeah, I'm fine what about you?" He turned his head staring at me. Was I okay? Probably not but I lied knowing that's the best answer to give right now.
That was everyone's answer because they don't what to say no I'm actually crumbling inside and I just want help.
So for know it Yeah or yes. I leaned my hand back staring at nothing until I got a glimpse of something on Hyun-Su's arm. I wanted to ask.
" what happened?" I pointed at the scar that was peaking out from his jacket sleeve. " I did it." He shortly replied, I Raised an eyebrow. " no I am why how did it to you?" I shot back knowing someone else was in on this.
I then grabbed his arm pulling up his sleeve seeing a long scar that looked like it had two line across it. My eyes winded a little. Why would he do this do himself who made him do it?
" does it hurt?" He had to think on it the mumbled no, shaking my head I took out the band-Aid he had going on the shelf behind him and took a couple. Unwrapping them I stuck them on here feeling his scar graze over my thumb.
" there, every time it hurts put a band-aid on it." Mentioned, pulling his sleeve back down. Then getting up going to leave but then stopped.
" be sure to get some rest you never know when there going to ask you to do something again." I informed, letting him know he needs his rest.
Not just a Monster
Warning: blood, violence, death, making out
20: Fallen Hero
When searching for Cha Hyun-Su, I found him at the staircase. He was rubbing his hand with a blank stare. Seeing him again I began to get nervous, losing my Confident demeanor.
Remembering what I did. " you know it's not good to be alone all the time? you should stick with your buddy." I joked, gaining Hyun-Su attention. Sitting down, but he didn't say anything.
I frowned, wondering what was wrong? I then thought of an idea, grabbing his face I turned it over towards me. Scooting close, again I could tell he was holding his breath. I was making the first move again.
" who was it this time?" I ended up, caressing his jaw with my thumb moving it around in circles where I kissed him. " You get this look on your face when someone gives you a hard time."
I let go, laying my hands on my lap.
" I've noticed." He had looked down, to hide his face. But I followed, he was cute when he was being all bashful. It was my fault entirely. " hey, when some try's to fuck with you do this."
I mimicked what Eun-Yoo does making the bam sounds with my fingers. It meant cussing someone out in Sign language. I showed him, " that's all you have to do." I smiled, nudging his shoulder.
" you try." I offered, bringing his hand up he tried to do it but failed miserably. I laughed. " that was terrible, but you'll get it." I saw a little blush appear on his cheeks. " here," I took his hand in mine. " this is how you do it."
I brought his pointer finger up then folding it down, then I did the same thing with his pinky, middle, and thumb. I kept doing it until his pinky was the only thing left up.
I hooked it with mine, making a promise but I wasn't going to tell him, what it was." There you just made me a promise." I could tell he was confused, " What promise?" I rocked our hands back and forth a bit.
" this." I went for it seeing no one was around not that I cared. Regardless I needed to kiss him. I quickly leaned in planting a soft kiss, on his big lips. Cupping his face with my hands. I pressed my lips down Further.
He was stiff into the kiss, his lips felt dry and as rough as I thought. As mine moved against him, please kiss back I thought as as if he could read my mind. " screw it!" I heard him mumble, into my lips he kissed back.
I smiled, " God, if this turns out bad it's on you!"  He murmured, his arm hooked around my waist holding me tight to where I couldn't get out." then I'll just have to live with it!"
His continued to kiss me but we had to pulling away to catch are breaths. I was breathing hard so was he I placed my forehead on his, he was staring back at me with his dark ones. " —How was it?" he questioned, I laughed shaking my head. " you could use some Chapstick."
I teased trying to get him flustered more because they my lips tingle so bad. He seemed embarrassed now trying to cover them but I stopped him. " but hey, I like them that way."
I moved some of his bangs out of this face pushing them back out of his face. " I didn't take you as the touchy lovely Dovey type." Eun-hyuk's voice startled me. I jerked back, did he seriously have to be here? I wondered if he saw the whole make-out session.
" how long have you been standing there?" I stood up, he glanced down and smirked fixing his round glasses. " long enough." I rolled my eyes, only a perv would watch someone kiss somebody.
I tried to change the subject, " what are you doing here anyway?" I crossed my arms. Hoping he would move on and answer my question. " We'll be turning the water off soon, thought you guys might want to wash up before we do."
He informed us I remembered earlier when everyone was all cleaned up at dinner. " Eun-Yoo already has some clothes for you to borrow." he motioned his head, out the door. " she waiting by the restroom."
I nodded, not before whispering something in Hyun-Su's ear then leaving. Heading down to the restroom there waited Eun-Yoo. She had some black joggers and a white shirt.
" so where have you been?" She gave the clothes to me. I could only smile, thanking her. " I kissed him." After saying this her eyes went wide Beaming with curiosity. " is he a good kisser?" she followed me into the girls' restroom.
Taking a cigarette box out of her back pants pocket she took one lighting it. As I went to drawl the thick dark curtains around me. I didn't like changing in front of people. " well considering it was my first kiss I would say yeah."
I told honestly, taking off my clothes throwing them over where they hung metal poles. " he was your first kiss?" I drawled the curtain back popping out my head nodding. My lips were in a thin line as doing so.
" Wow, even so, when the world goes to shit that's when you get your first kiss." she blows out smoke, " well I'm going to let you shower I'm going going to bug some people." She waved bye leaving the restroom.
Of course, I thought smiling Turing on the water, it comes out fast a cold. It sent shivers down my spine but I got used to it since it's been so hot out. taking the set of soap I scrubbed my body off twice making sure to get all the blood, dirt, and sweat off from top to bottom.
I probably stunk but considering everyone was like that I'm pretty sure they couldn't tell. Finishing up with my hair I wiped off my body with a towel I pulled on my newish clothes.
I stared at myself in front of the mirror looking back at my reflection. I was surprised to see a different person. One where there was no dirt, blood covering my face like a mask. Now I was clean I felt good and refreshing.
I soon picked up my old clothing dumping them in a bin where everyone else's clothes were cleaning up after my self I walked out. Heading to the lobby to see Sang-Wook and Hyun-Su inter the elevator.
He was wearing a yarn striped green and pale orange sweater. I swore his hair looked shorted for some reason. I was about to call him wondering why they were going up there?
But the elevator door closed before I could say anything. So I waited for them sitting on the brown leather couch. Picking at my nails seeing how short they were. Ms. Cha had stepped in. She was usually with the little kids.
She was staring at something in front of her turning my head my eyes caught a red light and the numbers were counting down from one. It must be the guys' back but so soon? It sometimes takes an hour or so.
" Was it just the two guys" that went up?" she questioned but it was more like she was asking herself. But I nearly jumped when a loud ringing was disturbed from the air.
I covered my ears, But then Remembering it's the bell that Signal when a monster is near. The elevator door dinged open revealing one guy standing in the door his back was facing us and he smelled awful as it hurt my nose flies were flying everywhere.
Oh, God!
I was about to stop her but it was too late. " sir?" It soon twisted its head around as its mouth opened up and dozens of flies came out. I almost puked. But its body turned around facing frontwards no.
Ms. Cha screamed, as it came at her but I hurriedly got up pulling her out of the way grabbing her arm. But it kept coming for us as it swung its electric string trimmer. I ducked as Ms. Cha whimpered, I tried to calm her down but I wouldn't work.
As it swung again at us it almost caught her but I pushed her out of the way before it did. It was just me and the smelly monster guy now. He made weird sounds with his mouth like he was choking or more like gagging.
I backed up, trying to lead it away as far as I can. But not to fear because the others could be put in danger. It raises its trimmer again and I was for sure it was going to hit me.
I closed my eyes seeing I couldn't get away waiting for the hit but nothing came as I heard a clash with metal on metal.
Opening my eyes I saw Jae-Heon, he had held the monster off with his trusty katana sword. Holding it off, " Go! go help Ms. Cha!" He yelled, but what about him?
I didn't have a choice though because he pushed the monster back and I got up running to her to help her out of the way as Jae-Heon fought it. He raised the monster's trimmers with both of his hands gripping his sword.
As it collided with some wired metal roofing creating sparks. He held it there struggling as one of this arms was weak from his previous injury. There were loud clicking noises and grunting as he tried to hold it back.
But he couldn't hold on anymore as it came down, and when it did it brought Jae-Heon's arm with it. I let out an ear-pricing scream that seemed to echo when the blood splattered everywhere hitting me.
I was so stunned seeing his arm fly off, red crimson soaked his entire left side as he fell to the floor. I tried to run and help him but Ms. Cha held me back. Tears began to form. I screamed out again trying to pull away.
He can't die, what about him and Ji-Soo? " No! I have to help him!!" But her grip was tight on me. I couldn't get loose." if you go you'll get hurt too." I shook my head it wasn't right just to stand here and watch.
" he can't- he can't die someone needs to help!!" Soon I heard heavy footsteps coming our way. It was the group, coming to the rescue but they all came to a sudden halt. Gasp we're expressed all around the room.
It was quiet except for my crying struggling to get free. Jae-Heon had gotten up staggering a little. The monster attempted to walk up the small step but couldn't.
Jea-Heon had grabbed his half-broken sword walking closer to the monster getting behind him, he stabbed it in the chest pulling the thing in his embrace pulling him back.
He was leading it to the elevator. My eyes poured with tears realizing I cannot save him. He was sacrificing himself for the safety of the group. Then there was a banging sound with a door being pushed open.
It was a person they were crawling on their hands and knees. It was Hyun-Su was he hurt? He lifted his upper body leaning on a metal storage locker.
He gripped the spear In his hands watching the scene unfold. I could see tears in his eyes. As he fought to get up, mumbling underneath his breath.
When Jae-Heon turned the monster around pressing the elevator door open shoving him inside, there were multiple grunts, as he went in fighting it. He pulled out the sword-swinging it around. As the light kept flickering on and off.
He dodged the trimmers, going over to the front doors pressing the button to close it, as it did the electric door closed and reopened each time there was more blood splatter on the walls.
When it opened again not able to close because the trimmers were in between it stopping the doors from closing Jae-Heon grabbed the monster taking him down to the ground. Puncturing the jug that was attached to the motor that runs the trimmer it leaked gas everywhere.
I knew what he was doing he was going to catch himself on fire. " throw it!!" Jae-Heon yelled to saw Seung-Wan he was holding a bottle with cloth in it that was on fire.
But he didn't throw it too scared to. His body shook. But everyone was tense, not wanting to hurt him more than he already was. Jae-Heon laid on the floor not letting go of the monster red was the only color that was Prominent in the elevator.
" throw it now!!" He screamed again, I saw Eun-hyuk look between him and Seung-wan debating to do what I think he was doing. He ran to him taking the jar waiting for the perfect moment to throw it but also hesitant because he was his friend.
It was weak but Jae-Heon's last words threw it he mouthed. I could see Eun-Hyuk trying to hold back tears but he threw it. It setting everything on fire. I watched as it was burning them up I couldn't look anymore Turing my head away.
My chin began to quiver, as I drawled in deep breaths. I tried to control my sobs, if I had just fought the monster instead of letting Jae-Heon do it he would still be alive.
