U.S. Army Major Joe Bryant is the training officer for the 169th Field Artillery Brigade based out of Buckley Space Force Base, Colorado. MAJ Bryant enlisted in 1999 during his junior year of high school and completed Basic training the following summer. After high school, he attended the Valley Forge Military College in Pennsylvania. Upon commissioning as an Aviation Officer in 2002, he joined the Colorado Army National Guard and went on to complete his Baccalaureate degree in Micro-Biology at Colorado State University. He has completed three deployments to the Middle East with 2nd Battalion, 135th General Support Aviation Battalion. As an Aviation officer, MAJ Bryant began his aviation career in the CH47D Chinook before later transitioning to the  UH60L Blackhawk. As an Active Guard Reserve Soldier, he has held multiple key roles throughout other units in the COARNG. Outside of the Army, he lives an active life with his wife, Ana, and son, Elijah. He is an avid mountaineer, hunter, & fisherman. Most recently,  he has become a rated sailor and plans to explore the world on a sailboat with Ana and Elijah once he retires from the Army. The end of an era.

Last week, the D type of the Chinook CH47 flew an last official flight for the Royal Netherlands Air Force. The flight went to the training area on the Oirschotse heide, the GLV5, but also to its future owner, the National Military Museum, the NMM.

A representation of 298 Squadron took this opportunity to hand over a number of documents with information about this workhorse to Paul van Vlijmen, Director-NMM. The Chinook then left for the Logistiek Centrum Woensdrecht, where it will be prepared to be included in the collection of the NMM at the end of 2022 and exhibited to the public.

The end of an era, the CH47D Chiniook in the service of the Royal Netherlands Air Force.

Extortion Company sign that hung at FOB Shank (Forward Operating Base Shank), and which was returned to the U.S. years later by a very observant Army Aviation crew during the base's dismantling. VFW Legislative Advocacy

A military veteran and longtime resident of Gillette, WY, Christopher Jeremiah founded Thunder Basin CrossFit before his sale, that continues to operate as CrossFit brown n gold thanks to his initiative and dedication. A former Army Captain and CH47D helicopter pilot, Christopher Jeremiah continues to support the American military through his participation in organizations such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Founded in 1899 by veterans of the Spanish-American War, the VFW has fought for health care, pensions, and other rights and benefits for American military veterans for more than a century. Currently numbering more than 1.7 million members, the VFW continues its work on behalf of military veterans through social events, financial assistance, and especially legislative advocacy. Over the years, the VFW has advocated for numerous military-related legislative acts and has played decisive roles in the establishment of the Veterans Administration (VA), the national cemetery system, and numerous war memorials. Additionally, the VFW worked to pass laws such as the Veterans Access and Accountability Act of 2014. The VFW’s current legislative priorities include initiatives in the health care, homeland security, transitional assistance, and compensation and benefits sectors. Among other priorities, the VFW urges Congress to improve and expand the VA health care system, develop affordable housing programs for veterans who are homeless, and increase small business opportunities for veterans.
