Luca felt her pull away, but the hand on her arm was steadfast, the other on her waist. "This has never been a waste of time. You know how much I care about you." His eyes met hers, seeing she didn't want to go as much as he didn't want her to. "It's just difficult, you know that - you know me so much better than anyone else, you gotta understand I can't just suddenly make it all perfect, baby." He pleaded, "How about I rent us a nice apartment just outside the city, huh? Make it our own space, be together just like we always say, right?"

He thought he'd had it. Kiss her like he had the first time when they were just toeing the line, doing something they shouldn't, when they weren't in way too deep. But then she pulled away and he had to desperately claw his way to the surface again. "We're so good as we are, there's nothing to worry about - I buy you nice things, we go to nice restaurants - what's to change now? You wanna go on a nice vacation? Fuck it, let's go right now." He knew he was scrambling, but he had to try everything.

Luca didn't spent too much time at Ruby Red, it was one of those places that ticked right along. There were always men that were in want of the company of beautiful women and where they sought, there they were.

He came unannounced just before opening time, just a drop in while he was in the area, as he headed towards the office, he walked past a familiar face down the hallway. "Looking good, Cher - lace suits you." He gestured at her outfit, not at all playing anything down even with his wedding ring that meant as much as a penny down a gutter at this point.

Luca had slammed the car door and locked it in a huff before returning inside. Everyone knew better than to ask questions but he could have still done without the drama when he was talking business. Baby was this poor thing that kept coming back to him, even if he didn't put particularly much effort into her. Half an hour later the meeting disbanded and he went back out to unlock his car, swinging the door open.

"Hey now, you know better than to barge in like that, huh? The fuck is wrong with you?" His words though his tone gentler than he would when berating those who worked for him.

They were safe, or at least what safety meant in a world that contained horrors unimaginable and unrelenting, consistent fear. Still, they were alone. He'd helped Aylin clean up her wounds, she'd saved his life after all, in the time they knew each other she had become a valuable member of Jericho - the settlement he and his men had founded in the early days. She had a sweet face but it was second to her ferocity and resourcefulness.

After all the chaos there was still a hum in the air. They had both cleaned up though Aylin insisted she checked a deeper wound over at his stomach. He had both hands behind him to support his weight, watching over at her as she careful dabbed at it and inspected it.

"Thanks for earlier. Couldn't have done it without you." His voice low, a far cry from the shouted orders from earlier.
