RENEGADES: BOOK SIX
“You both have heard this your entire lives, but you are the spitting image of your parents. Maybe not physically, it’s in the way you both carry yourselves, that’s Jackie and Steve’s doing. You have your mother’s resilience, your father’s integrity, and their anger. For you, that’s a lethal combination and you two need to use it to your advantage.”
- Sharon Carter, excerpt from book six

give me john and madison hcs i miss my fav siblings
bitchhhhh i miss them too i miss this universe so much
madison totally gives john relationship advice and convinces him to ask annie out because her little bro deserves love and happiness we STAN ONE OLDER SISTER
john really gets shook when he and his men meet up with another faction who try to hand off a group of young women who were being trafficked. he agrees to take them but then he and madison work together to get the girls to safety and take down the faction group responsible (this is a whole story point that is pretty heavy and i’m always willing to go a little further in depth with it)
this experience kind of brings john and madison closer because, even tho john is real angsty and badass, he is actually a fairly sensitive individual and seeing those girls so scared really hit a nerve with him and madison is really the only one who was able to get him through that
john is the first person that madison tells about her being bisexual and it doesn’t faze him at all. just like how it didn’t faze him when thomas came out to him. john loves them both so much so matter what
madison experiences an event on a mission that really sends her spiraling and john spends a lot of time at her apartment, staying over and keeping her company because she really goes through the ringer during this story arc
madison is the first one to piece it together when annie and john first sleep together and she can’t help but tease him relentlessly about it
god, just imagine the two of them storming through an enemy warehouse just taking out bad guys left and right. that’s HOT

Give me some Madison/Hector hcs!!
ohhhh my new fave father/daughter duo, okay lets go
hector may or may not meet a teen!madison when he’s in his late teens early 20′s, i know the age thing seems way off but remember madison has fast aging
when sharon tells hector he’s going to mentor madison he just kinda gives her a blank stare like, uhhhh excuse me?? and when he realized she’s steve’s daughter that makes him all, EXCUSEEE ME?!?!?!
like being assigned to mentor and protect steve rogers’ kid??? definitely no pressure at all
their first meeting is like that awkward kind of meeting because hector has no flipping idea on how to talk to her but madison can be kind of shy sometimes so it all works out
hector keeps a tight seal on details about his personal life, no one knows if he’s married, has kids or anything (fyi he doesn’t have any of that) so madison makes it her mission to befriend hector because he’s grumpy and could use some good friends
madison ends up finding the bar that hector loves to frequent after work and, despite it being a nuisance to him, she joins him every time and it becomes their thing to do together
their bond properly solidifies during a mission that madison leads with team delta and the mission does not play out the way she wanted it to (not going into detail because I’m still trying to finalize this whole event) but it is a pretty big thing that sends madison spiraling into this depressive state and makes her question what it means to be a hero. hector is the only one that is able to get her through it because he was there, he witnessed it and unfortunately he’s the one that had to force madison to not complete the mission or she would have died along with everyone else including him. this is a pretty big arc that i’m planning for her
still not sure if I am doing this but I do have an idea that involves hector getting seriously injured and possibly dying and this ties into this whole new idea I have with this villain i’m developing but yeahhhhhh madison doesn’t take it lightly what happens to hector

Ooh, I’d be very interested to hear what the fandom discourse would be about with Steckie/Madison and John!!!
Oh buddy. Okay buckle up because there would be a lot of discourse with this
steckie discourse:
the age gap would be a big argument with the antis, saying that it’s weird for jackie to be in love with a man who is technically old enough to be her grandfather or even great-grandfather
because of steve’s connection to peggy and addie the antis would use that as an argument to prove that the relationship was incest in some way because tumblr LOVES to pull that freaking card even though the relationship is not even close to being incestuous
not to mention a certain person, miss a*well, would definitely fuel the hate like she did with staron. saying that since jackie was like family to peggy that her being with steve is disgusting and incestuous and that peggy would absolutely not be supportive of it (like surprise bitch she actually is supportive of it)
part of the fandom would claim that marvel putting steve with jackie is them trying to dismiss stucky and that they were just trying to make steve hetero and like... I’m not even gonna get into this point a lot but I know it would happen I’ve seen that argument on several anti-sharon/anti-staron posts, it would definitely happen with steckie
claim that their relationship is “toxic” because they would keep secrets from each other and get into arguments here and there but most of the hate would definitely directed towards jackie
madison/john discourse:
madison would get hate for trying too hard to be like the perfect model child and most would think she’s too perfect and that makes her boring
her getting into arguments and fights with john always earns her hate because tumblr would always be like “THAT’S ABUSE” and like how dare she hurt “our precious boy, what a terrible sister”
would be viewed as weak because she’s reserved with her anger and holds it back
whereas I think most would absolutely love john because he is an anti-hero but there would definitely be the selective group who are like uhh no??? he’s a complete asshole and has no reason to be like that
then when his backstory is shown and all the trauma he’s experienced he’ll be singled out as like a “wuss” and “not man enough” and that his trauma is not valid and unrealistic like oh great another white boy with trauma #whiteboystruggles (y’all know I’m right)
john and steve’s fractured relationship I think would kind of bring back some steve discourse and some people would criticize steve for being a horrible father and for favoring madison over his son
send me an oc or a ship and i’ll tell you what the fandom wank/discourse would be like if they were canon.

Madison pushed her glass towards John, signaling for him to give her a refill. He did just that, filling the glass halfway and then poured him one more as well. The two drank silently, both casting solemn glances around their childhood home. It felt different being here now. It no longer had that warmth and security. No, it felt cold and empty. The mere action nearly brought Madison to tears. She swallowed down what was left of her drink and sucked in a breath. “It’s so quiet.” Her voice was nothing more than a whisper. She glanced up at John, who was staring at her with glazed eyes. “I keep thinking Dad’s gonna walk through that door any minute.” She said, sparing a quick glance at the front door.
John kept his eyes focused on her, not permitting himself to indulge in the same mindset as her. No, he couldn’t. It would drive him crazy. But as he sat there, John found himself agreeing with her. She was right. The house was too quiet for his liking. Usually, his parents would have a vinyl playing on their record player. John eyed the record player in the living room, wanting so badly to walk over and put one on. But he didn’t have the strength. All of his energy had been sucked out of him. Ever since they buried Steve, neither could bring themselves play music. All of the records in the house reminded them too much of their parents. It was too soon for that kind of nostalgia.
John finally allowed his eyes to wander around the room. They immediately settled on a family photo, situated on one of the end tables. He pressed his hand to his mouth, choking back the knot that had formed in his throat.
“You think they’re together?”
Madison’s question made John center his focus. He gave himself a few more seconds to gather himself before looking over at her. Her eyes were red, brimming with tears and he saw her lips tremble. “What do you mean?” He cringed at hearing how hoarse his voice was--the way it faltered at the end. Dammnit, keep yourself together.
“Mom and Dad,” she clarified. “Do you think they’re together now… in Heaven?”
He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, then gave a shrug. “Yeah, I mean that’s what everyone believes.” John felt his stomach twist in a knot, his answer was so cavalier. He didn’t mean for it to be. But the question threw him so far off. He wasn’t sure how to respond to it.
Madison reached for the bottle and poured out a decent amount into her glass. For a moment, she sat in silence, staring at the liquid and thinking about her question. “What if there’s no such thing?” There was no response from John, prompting her to continue. “What if there’s no Heaven… what if when we die there’s just nothing. No paradise. No afterlife, just emptiness.”
“Why are you even thinking about that, Madison?” John interrupted, he felt his stomach twist at having to hear her talk about it. After just losing their dad, that was the absolute last thing he wanted to talk about.
“Because it scares me.” She admitted, tears finally spilled onto her cheeks when she looked up at him. “We were always told that we would see our loved ones again, that we would be reunited with them. What if it’s all a lie? What if Heaven was something we created to help us deal with grief, to help make some sense of it. It’s comforting when you think about reuniting with them once you’ve passed. The idea of mom and dad being together again is comforting. But what if it’s all bullshit?”
John leaned forward and rested his elbows on the table, then washed his hands down his face. “Madison,”
“I don’t want it to be bullshit,” she continued. “I want it to be real. I want to see mom and dad again, I want to see Uncle Tony and Aunt Nat, I just--” She was cut off by a sharp intake of breath. Her hands flew up to cover her face in a vain attempt to prevent John from seeing her cry. But he’s seen it all. “I miss them,” she barely managed to say those words before her body was wracked by a violent sob. “I miss them… I want them back.”
John immediately reached over and took hold of Madison’s hand. She turned her hand so that her hand was firmly resting in his. The two didn’t say anything. John remained quiet so that Madison could have her moment, his grip tightening every time he felt her shake from a sob. Tears burned at the back of his eyes, his chest ached at hearing his sister breakdown. He wanted to join her. He wanted to cry out and curl into a ball. Like he did when he was a child.
He ran a hand down his face, feeling that his cheeks were wet. When had he started crying?
Madison finally gathered herself and sucked in a few deep breaths. She had to pull herself together. She felt as if she had been crying non-stop and, frankly, she was exhausted. Madison scoffed at herself, thinking about how ridiculous she must look and sound. Her hand still clung onto John’s, afraid to let go--fearing that she would break down again if she did. “I’m so stupid.” She said, wiping away the stains on her cheeks.
“No,” John shook his head. “You’re not.”
“No, I am.” She responded and huffed out a wet laugh before continuing. “I was naive… I always thought that Dad was gonna be with us forever.” A painful smile crossed her lips when she finally allowed herself to look at her brother. “I thought it was gonna be the three of us for… a long time.”
“It’s okay,” John’s thumb rubbed soothing circles on her hand. “Because I thought that same thing.”
Madison hummed and raised her glass, the smile was still evident, “Look at us being absolute suckers.” She said before emptying the entire glass.
“Our Dad was Captain America, he was larger than life--makes sense that we would think like that.”
“He escaped death once by being frozen in the ice for seventy years, you’d think he could’ve avoided death at all costs.”
John went to reach for the bottle, frowning when he saw that it was empty. He got up to retrieve a new bottle from the cabinet. He pulled the whiskey bottle out and unscrewed the lid, pausing momentarily when he noticed a photo of his parents on the refrigerator. He pulled the photo off and turned it over, the date October 2015 was scribbled on the back in his mother’s recognizable handwriting. When John sat back down at the table, he handed the photo over to Madison who took it after hesitating.
“I found that on the fridge,” John said, pouring out another round for them both. He could only guess the photo was taken on some kind of trip they went on together. “I don’t remember ever seeing that photo up there.”
“Dad must’ve put it up not too long ago,” Madison smiled as she examined the photo, then turned it over to read the date. “This was well before I was born.”
Looking at photos of their parents before they were born, was always a strange experience for Madison. She always thought of them as Mom and Dad which was normal. But there was a time when they weren’t her parents. When they were just two people who, under very unlikely circumstances, found their way to each other and fell in love. It was a rather unconventional love story, one that Jacqueline lamented to her daughter when she was much older. She heard it all. All the good and all of the bad, including the chaos that went down when Jacqueline was pregnant with her. She knew about the way her parents hurt each other, how Steve wasn’t there when Madison was born due to poor choices on both her parent’s parts. The relationship wasn’t perfect, what relationship is? Despite the ups and downs, Madison was always sure of how much her parents loved each other.
“You know when we lost Mom… Dad wasn’t the same anymore,” she placed the photo down, keeping her gaze focused on it. “He didn’t smile as much, didn’t listen to his records. The only time he was ever happy was if we were with him. But I saw it every time I was with him. He wasn’t the same after she died. It’s like he lost a part of himself. The only thing he wanted was to be with her again.”
Losing their mother was already painful enough. But Madison and John would agree that it was worst having to witness their father grieve the loss. Steve became withdrawn, unwilling to hold up conversations. Sam and Bucky tried their best to pull him out of it. To get him focused on other things, even getting him to help plan a few of their missions. Steve would help with the planning but it did nothing to pull him from his grief.
“He just needs time,” Bucky said to both Madison and John. “The only thing you can do for him is just… be there when he needs you.”
It was a long and painful process for the three of them. While it did get better, they never fully got over what happened to Jacqueline. Then again, grief isn’t something that can be forgotten.
John’s eyes lingered on the photo, his teeth bit down on his lip in an effort to keep himself in check. God, he really didn’t want to cry anymore. He’s done enough of that the last few days. But like his sister, he missed them. They didn’t deserve to have them taken away so soon. He wanted them back. “I hope you’re right,” John twirled his glass and looked up to see his sister giving him a confused look. “I hope you’re right and that there is a place we go to when we die… because I hate the idea of mom and dad not being together again.”
Madison reached for her brother’s hand again, already feeling a sting in her waterline. “Guess we won’t know the truth until we bite the dust.” Madison raised her glass, prompting John to do the same.
They gave a silent toast in honor of the people they lost. For Tony. For Natasha. For their parents. And to the hope that one day they’ll see them all again.

wait...what’s the tea on the 60s au ?? 😳
OMG OKAY
So it’s playing on the original concept idea I had for Renegades where it was going to take place in the forties and Jackie was going to be friends with Steve and Bucky. Anyway. So the AU idea is that Jackie is alive during the forties, falls in love with Steve before the war even starts. Basically, Jackie gets pregnant and Steve goes into the ice. She has Madison and by the late 60′s Madison joins SHIELD and it would basically be a 60′s - mid 70′s espionage type story with ties to historical events like bobby kennedy’s assassination, watergate in the 70′s, a possible encounter with the winter soldier, and all that. Obviously I’m not gonna write it because i’m not Smart™ enough to pull it off (who knows maybe down the road i might attempt it). If I can find a download for this show of sophie in the 60′s i might make a little gifset for it!

“Where did mom go?” John asked.
“She and Pepper had to go out of the country for a benefit,” Steve answered from the kitchen, he was skimming through the take-out menu. He glanced over at John and Madison, who were sitting on the couch, the latter skimming through lists of films. With the menu in one hand and the phone in the other, Steve walked over to them and the menu out towards them. “You guys need to figure out what you want.”
John eagerly reached for the menu, nearly clambering over his sister to achieve it. “Ow!” Madison paused and hit her brother against the shoulder as he scooted back into his space.
“Hey come on,” Steve scolded lightly. “None of that tonight, understood?”
Madison gave her father a look but ultimately nodded. “Okay.” She abandoned her search for a movie to skim through the menu. Madison ended up scooting closer to John to get a full view of the list.
After about thirty minutes, Steve was able to finally order the food. Not long after placing the order, he received a video call on his phone from Jacqueline. He answered the call and smiled when her image appeared on screen, “Hey,”
“Hey, I hope I didn’t catch you at a bad time.”
“Nope,” Steve meandered his way over to the couch, Madison and John made room for him to sit right between them. “We just ordered some food, we were going to watch a movie tonight.”
“That sounds fun.”
John nearly pressed his face against Steve’s in an effort to be seen by his mom. “Where are you, mom?” By this point, he was already sitting in his father’s lap. Steve secured an arm around his son.
“I’m in London, Pepper and I came out here to attend a benefit for one of the foundations we’re partners with.”
John cinched his lips to the side, disappointment was evident on his face. “You’re going to miss movie night… again.”
Jacqueline smiled sadly. “I know sweetie, I’m sorry. But this was a commitment I couldn’t get out of.”
“It’s been a while since the four of us have been to do this,” Madison’s voice came from the background. Even though Jacqueline couldn’t see her face, the hint of disappointment in her voice was not easy to miss.
“I know,” Jacqueline answered. “But you guys always fun with dad during movie nights, even when I’m not there.”
John had re-situated himself into a more comfortable position in his father’s lap, his back leaned against Steve’s chest. “It’s not always super fun,” John muttered.
“What I’m not super fun to be around?” Steve asked, there was a look of mock hurt that crossed his features.
“No, you’re fun!” John quickly defended, his answer made his mother laugh.
“You guys are gonna have a good time, I promise. No scary movies though. We don’t need a repeat of last time.”
“No, we don’t.” Steve was quick to agree.
Long story short, Madison was on babysitting duty that night. Jacqueline was out of town and Steve was running intel back at the Avengers compound. Madison thought it would be a good idea to watch John Carpenter’s Halloween. Needless to say, John found himself in his parent’s bed later that night, poor Steve had to take the entire brunt of the situation with Jacqueline not being there.
Madison gave a loud snort at the memory which made her little brother stick his tongue out at her. He still hasn’t forgiven her for that.
Pepper could be heard in the background, momentarily catching Jacqueline’s attention. They couldn’t make out what Pepper had said but the three of them figured that the conversation was over.
Jacqueline nodded a few times before turning her attention back on the phone. “I have to go now, have a fun night.”
“We will,” Steve assured her.
“I call you all tomorrow. I love you guys.”
Madison moved over so that she was in view of the camera, “Love you, Mom.”
“Love you, Mommy.” John declared, waving goodbye to her.
Jacqueline waved back and then her eyes singled out Steve, “I love you.”
“Love you, too.”
The screen went dark, sending the three of them into silence. Steve took a moment to assess both his kids. Madison was leaned back against the couch with her arms folded over her chest. While John had rested his head against Steve’s shoulder, looking absolutely defeated. He felt his stomach twist at the thought of Jacqueline’s reaction if she saw this.
“You two aren’t all bummed out now, are you?” Steve tried to coax a smile from his son but failed in doing so.
“I miss mommy,” John muttered. He took his father’s phone and idly played with it, feeling the urge to try and call her back so he could see her again.
The corners of his mouth turned down and he tugged his son closer, “I know, bud, I miss her too. But she’ll be home in a few days.”
“That’s what you said last time,” Madison was the next to speak up. “She ended up staying out of the country for almost two weeks.”
Steve hesitated, not sure how to respond. Jacqueline’s work schedule has been all over the place during the last few months. Usually, when she was home, Steve would have to run intel at the compound. Family nights for all four of them have been a rarity. “She can get really busy sometimes.”
“Yeah,” Madison scoffed and turned to face him. “It’s always like that for both of you. When she’s not busy, you end up going to the compound. When you’re not busy, Mom has to go out of state or out of the country. Seriously, it’s been months since we’ve been able to do anything together.”
“And what would you have me do, Mads? Tell your mother that she’s no longer allowed to work with the foundation, that she can’t pursue something she’s passionate about?” He saw the way Madison’s expression shifted. “Are you going to tell her that?”
“No,” Madison deflated and let out a deep sigh. “I know she loves working with the foundation… I just wish that it could be different.”
“We used to have a lot of fun.” John gave a small jump when he accidentally opened the front-view camera on his father’s phone. He paused and then snapped a few random photos, smirking the entire time.
Steve caught onto this and gave a smile as John took another photo. “We used to have fun?” He questioned afterward.
“We have fun!” John corrected once he felt Steve start to tickle at his back. He twisted in his father’s hold in an attempt to escape. Steve quickly caught John before he could fall off and potentially hurt himself on the coffee table.
Steve settled John back on his lap, his lips still stretched in a wide grin. He looked over at Madison, seeing that she was sporting a small smile as well. Steve wrapped an arm around her, bringing her close to him. “We’re gonna have a fun and laid back night, okay?” He waited for both his kids to nod their heads. “Good. The food will be here soon, so you guys need to pick a movie. And remember what your mother said, nothing scary.” The last words were directed right at Madison.
She huffed out a laugh as she reached for the remote. “Whatever you say, dad.”
....
The credits of Matilda came on screen. Steve picked up his phone to check the time. 10:00 p.m. He let out a tired groan, “It’s way past John’s bedtime.” The kid in question was sitting on Steve’s lap, his head lying against Steve’s shoulder and he was out like a light. Steve then spared a glance over at Madison who was curled up on the other end of the couch. “So much for making it through the movie.”
Steve reached for the remote and turned down the volume. As gingerly as he could, he stood up from the couch with John in his arms. The kid stirred for a moment, he ended up snuggling closer to Steve. He smiled, thinking about how adorable it was. Granted, he’s experienced with both his kids several times. Still, it never detracted him away from how happy it made him feel.
Steve reached John’s bedroom. He pulled back the covers and gently laid the kid down on his bed. He did all of this without waking him up, that was an achievement. A skill that Steve mastered when John was an infant. He tucked the covers over John and then planted a quick kiss on his forehead. “Night, bud.”
When Steve ventured back to the living room, Madison was already awake and was gathering up the empty take out containers. “What are you doing?”
Madison paused and looked over at Steve, still half asleep. “I’m trying to clean up a little.” She muttered.
“Don’t worry about it.” Steve took the boxes from her and placed them back down on the table. “I’ll deal with this, you need to go to bed.” He braced his hands on her shoulders and began to guide her back to her room. It was a little surprising that Madison wasn’t putting up a fuss. Then again, she was half asleep, she didn’t have all her bearings with her. When they got to her door, Steve had to bite back a laugh when he saw her just standing there. Almost as if she had fallen asleep standing up.
“Alright, kiddo.” He opened the door and gently nudged her forward. She didn’t even bother pulling back the covers as she fell forward into her bed. “Madison, you’re laying on the covers.”
“M’kay.” She muttered against the pillow, clearly not paying attention to what her father had said. She remained in the same position, unwilling to move.
In response, Steve grabbed one of the throw blankets from her closet and placed it over her. Madison then turned over so that she was facing him, her one arm stretched out towards him. Steve knelt forward, allowing Madison to wrap her arm around his neck in a loose hug.
“Love you, dad.”
“Love you too, Mads.” Steve kissed her on the forehead before stepping back. Waiting until he was sure that she was asleep, Steve then took his exit and quietly closed the door behind him.

RENEGADES AU - SDCC HALL H (insp, insp, insp)
// MARVEL ANNOUNCES RENEGADES: NEXT GEN
Marvel announced at SDCC that RENEGADES: NEXT GEN will be another original series set to air on Disney+. The show will be led by Ben Barnes and Sophie Cookson who will play the show’s main characters: John and Madison Rogers. Plot details were scant, however, Kevin Feige did confirm that the show would take place at least fifteen years after the events of Endgame. Kevin went onto say, “the show is really about these two characters trying to find their way through a post-endgame world, long-term. It’s about self-discovery. It’s about Madison and John figuring out who they are when they take away the Rogers name, when they strip away the title of being Steve’s children--where does that leave them? What does it mean to be themselves?” While they weren’t in attendance, Chris Evans and Astrid Berges-Frisbey are expected to reprise their roles as Steve Rogers and Jacqueline Lewis. RENEGADES: NEXT GEN will air Fall 2021.

Anotha one because I can’t resist: 📚 + my baby Madison
Madison was originally supposed to be raised by Alex. The original idea was that Jackie had Madison after Steve died, then she heard that he may be alive somewhere. She asks Alex to look after Madison while she was gone and Jackie ends up dying. So Madison is raised thinking Alex is her father and doesn’t find out who her real parents are until she’s an adult.
send me a 📚 + an oc for something thats changed about them since their conception

OH MY GOD YES I LOVE MY CHILDREN
Madison nicknamed him “Johnny” the first time she met him after he was born
When John was a toddler, he always loved getting into trouble and Madison would always be trailing after him
They tease each other relentlessly which annoys their parents quite a bit
Whenever she’s annoyed with John, she always tells him how she wanted a baby sister and John just nods like “yeah, okay”
Madison can drop kick John’s ass in less than five seconds, CANON
Sibling Angst GALORE like it hurts my heart to think about it
But despite the angst, they are honestly so soft around each other
John beating the shit out of someone if they threaten his sister
Late night drinking and deep conversations are their THING
Madison being handed the shield and she asks John if he wants to take it on, his response “fuck no, that’s your calling not mine”
Both of them going on missions together with Madison as the new Captain America and her brother as her right-hand man (fuck just imagine it, I am and I’m crying)
send me asks!!

madison lewis rogers: character study
My name is Madison Sarah Kathleen Rogers. I was named after both of my grandmothers. Uh, I’m a half-super soldier which means I have a few abilities up my sleeve. That includes slow aging so I guess that’s cool. And I’m the daughter of two of SHIELD’s best agents.
some of sophie’s gifs are from @drewtanner

What are your top 3 favourite things about Madison and John?
AKDJFOE OKAY
First, I love how loyal they are to each other and their family. John is a real anti hero and often doesnt seem like he cares. But he cares a lot and would do anything to protect his family, same with Madison.
Second, I love their ability to reconnect with each other. Like, if they go months without seeing each other, they can meet up and it's like nothing has changed. Or if they get into a real heated argument and dont speak to each other for a long time, their reunions are always so genuine. They may fight alot but they love each other so much. And in the end, it'll be just the two of them against the world so they have a real deep bond.
Third, I love how they know how to have fun with each other. Like jokes and teasing are a constant thing between them. There's so much love they have for one another like I honestly want to cry everytime I think of them together. I just love them so much!!
Ask me questions about the rogers siblings!!
