Richie raised his eyebrows, impressed. “Wow, Eds, look at you, a little rising actor, aren’t’cha? I oughta’ bring you out to L.A. with me, get you a role as my sidekick in my first movie, huh? How’s that sound?”

“Hey, if it means I could get paid to go along with your shitty jokes, I’d be on the plane tomorrow.” 

“Rude,” Richie said, furrowing his eyebrows at Eddie’s jab at his sense of humor, but those sorts of comments never bothered him for long, and his expression soon softened again. “That’d be nice, though, don’t you think?” he went on. “Trashmouth Tozier and Eddie K, together on the big screen.”

Eddie smiled. “I’m not sure if I’m cut out for ‘the big screen’.” 

Richie shook his head. “Oh, come on, that’s not true. You’ve got a face fit for acting, Eds,” he said. “Sure, we’ll need to work on your act a bit before we get you signing up for auditions. But who knows, maybe I could double as your co-star and your talent agent.” For a moment, Richie was quiet. When Eddie looked over at him, he was staring up at the ceiling. He was still smiling softly, but the look in his eyes was distant. “I guess it would be too hard, though, with us… being so far apart. You in New York, and… well, me in wherever the hell I end up.” 

Suddenly, the air between them seemed to change. It was impossible to avoid, Eddie knew that, but oh how he hated talking about their inevitable separation.
