001: GOSSIP OVER BRUNCH [JONAH&SAGE]
“Okay,” Said Sage putting her plate aside once she had finished her meal and stared at him. Their weekly brunch hangout had become more like a monthly hangout over the course of the past two months. “Looks like you’ve hit a wall on your thesis then.”
“I just can’t simply say it’s caused by two young-looking gods, one of which is my own father!” Jonah whined, poking at the last strip of bacon with his fork.
“Oh, tell me about it.” Sage rolled her eyes. “Insisting right now will only make you feel more frustrated. Have you been doing anything other than diving into those books?”
Jonah wrinkled his nose. “Have you?”
“Of course I have!” His cousin scoffed. “Abel got us both tickets for a concert tonight. Gianna’s dad is still touring with his band, and we’re going to see it!”
Silence.
“Now… you didn’t answer my question.” She said.
“I’ve been hanging out with Mosi and Jayce –”
“They don’t count, they are your roommates.” Said Sage, and quickly added: “The werewolves don’t count either.”
Jonah stared at his glass of water. “Well, I’ve been texting Georgie more often.”
Sage raised an eyebrow. “Oh?”
“And I ran into her the other day while out with Jayce and Mosi.” He said. “And then she showed up at the bar, we split some beers and—”
“Oh?” There was a grin on his cousin’s face.
Jonah looked away. “We’re just friends!”
“I’m very familiar with the friendship between the both of you, yes.” She said, the grin in her face softening to an amused smile as she rested her chin on her hand. “How you decide to label your relationship is not up for me to decide, but if you still like her, you should probably let her know. You’d be surprised to find out it could be something more.”
“Uh… Thanks?” He said, his gaze shifting to the phone screen on top of the table as it vibrated with a text notification from Georgie.
“Well now I have to see it to believe it, Jonah.” Georgie’s message was a reply to the last of his texts on the previous night, when he had a little too many drinks and too little self-restraint. “Bring your beer and meet at my place.”
Sage raised an eyebrow when his eyes met hers and he tried to look away. His cheeks were burning like hell once he remembered what had been his message to Georgie.
For once, he hoped Sage had not learned how to read people’s emotions like she said Abel had taught her. But by the look in her face… all this must have been too amusing to ignore.
Sage had the perfect chance to tease him, but he was only met with a question:
“You are meeting her tonight, aren’t you?”

And the Prom King is...!
timeline: AU in which the Halloween party was a regular prom night and Jonah didn't lose control of his powers.
What an awful time to have a headache.
Jonah was starting to like the idea of getting dressed up for the halloween party — he even managed to put together some old pants and a worn out jacket in a way that he vaguely resembled a cowboy. His next step — courtesy of his cousin Sage — would be to do his own makeup.
But the damn headache wouldn't give him a break.
Jonah exhaled, dropping the black eyeliner pencil in the sink. He had already crossed into Mall Goth territory and at that point, it should be enough.
Finding the party was easy. All he had to do was follow the loud pop music to the amphitheater. But first, he had another stop — to honor his invitation on a burst of confidence.
Walking down to the end of the cabin circle, Jonah found himself at the doorstep of the Chaos cabin, its large doors towering ahead of him like gates of a mansion.
He shifted on his feet, hands cold with sweat.
Mamá didn't raise a coward, he muttered.
Breathing in slowly, Jonah lifted his head up and knocked on the door.
