Since the last time he really spoke with Ember on the roof oddly talking about relationship stuff, Ashton hadn't have much chances to catch Ember again, what with his own bountiful bag of fuck-upperies from the beach, to the injury, to the party, to stairwell accusations, to his own.. relationship happenings and drama - love, kin or otherwise. The next closest time was him helping out during the party and her traumatizing him with bambi and even then he felt bad for causing a scene during a party Ember planned.

Ashton heard from Charlie about the little project Ember had started out and when she reached out to him regarding donations, guess it was no better time to check out what she's been up to. "Where do you want me to put these?" Ashton asked with his armful of cushions and spare blankets, a little lamp even hung over his arm, letting her lead him into the apartment turned store. Ash generally didn't have a lot of things to live with, Ruth literally had to convince him to get a couch on day one. But he had enough spares of creatures comforts, that had always been spares for in case his mom stayed over and he could crash on the couch. He looked around the space that no longer looked like an apartment, "wow, you did this all in like, a few days?'

Coraleye: [voice quivering, barely audible] I... I don't understand? How did this happen? I called out for your mom, Morgyn, not my great-grandmother...

Morgyn: When we open the doors, we don't always have control over who enters them...

Coraleye makes a feeble attempt to clear her throat. Coraleye: Grandma Agnes? Agnes Darling? Is that really you?

Agnes: Why of course, my dear, who else? I apologize for intruding, but I just couldn't help myself. Come darling, I'd like to take you with me for a short while. Share some stories with you, first hand.

Morgyn: I believe she's inviting you to astral-project with her.

Coraleye: [Eyes light up] Really? Oh! But...Rosemary... Morgyn: Darling, that can wait. It's the afterlife, afterall. She isn't going anywhere anytime soon. [Chuckles] Tycho: [Hesitant sigh] Morgyn's right. This isn't an everyday opportunity. You should go. We'll be right here, patiently waiting for your return. Coraleye smiles lovingly at Tycho and turns to Morgyn.

Coraleye: Do... do you really think it's safe, though?

Morgyn: I do. But if anything goes wrong, you know the spell. Just call for me and I'm there.

Tycho gently steals Coraleye away from Morgyn's reassuring gaze and kisses her deeply. Tycho: We're there.

Morgyn: [Chuckles] Yes, I'll be sure to bring him along too. Now hurry, you don't want to keep her waiting.

Coraleye scurries over to the specter, her arms stretched wide, awaiting her hands. Agnes: [Doting lovingly] Oh, let me get a good look at you! My goodness, look at those eyes! Little Coraleye Tempest Rose Darling. My heir... isn't that right? Coraleye: [Beaming proudly] Yes!

Agnes: Wonderful! You've blossomed into a radiant young woman, my darling. Your great-grandfather Eric and I have been watching over you, fondly. [Cheekily] You've had quite the journey, love.

Tycho anxiously watches Coraleye interacting with the spirit of her great-grandmother.

Morgyn: Hey... [Nudges Tycho with elbow, whispering] What are you worrying about? This is all part of the craft for a proficient spellcaster like her. Everything's going to be fine, okay?

Agnes: [Peeks around behind Coraleye] I promise I'll keep her safe! If you both don't mind, I'd like to show my granddaughter a small window into her family history, what life was like in my day. [Sparkling smile]

Coraleye's eyes begin to glow, and she blows a heartfelt kiss to the others as she and Agnes fade away completely.

Tycho: What just happened, Morgyn? Why did she just disappear like that? I thought astral-projection involved traveling outside of the physical body... Morgyn: Just relax, okay? The rules of spellcraft in this realm don't always operate the same way they do on the outside.

Tycho: Well, what are we supposed to do while we wait for her to get back? Morgyn: [Shrugs] I don't know; I guess we could hold our breath? [Grin]

Character Cuddle Scale

How-to: Rate your OCs based on how they handle cuddling/being cuddled.

I'm going to try and include some of my lesser-known OCs along as my main ones in this--here we go!

Val (cp77): 7/10. In theory, Val's a cuddler. The girl longs for an affectionate touch. But in reality, she has a hard time letting enough people close for that kind of physical contact. Yet, when it's with her significant other, she melts into the cuddles. Wrap your arms around her and you aren't allowed to move away until she says so.

Aila (bg3): 5/10. If you don't know her and she doesn't trust her, don't touch her. You might lose a hand. If she loves you though, she enjoys the contact. But most of the time she prefers to be the one holding instead of being held, she likes being able to give her partner that physical comfort. She loses some points for her shortness.

Rowan (skyrim): 9/10. This man was made to cuddle. His idea of a perfect day is lazing around doing nothing and if you're there with him, you aren't escaping the cuddles. He also naturally runs warm so you will be comfortably toasty the entire time.

Jade Shepard (me): 3/10. Good luck getting her to rest long enough to cuddle. She's constantly go go go. She hates sitting still. She'll begrudgingly cuddle if you pull her down and force her to, but she will constantly be shifting around so it won't be very comfortable for either of you.

Ember Hawke (da): 4/10. She's not a very physically affectionate person, which isn't a surprise to anyone who knows her. Her love language is words of affirmation. Yet, if she's feeling down or if you're in need of physical comfort, she will cuddle with you, but as soon as you're feeling better she's done.

I have more OCs I can go into but I feel like some answers would be repetitive, so we'll stop there for now.

"Are you sure the kids should be watching this-" he protested but he knew the kids were off playing with Linds, Roman and Maddie and not paying attention to the movie marathon. It was hard to be a party pooper and he let Ember drag him off but he's grumble the entire way. 20 minutes, that was his time limit and he's walking away. 20 minutes later, Ash sat there unamused and watching the dreaded scene Ember was talking about, blinking at the screen before muttering softly, "..what the fuck." Obviously Ember didn't know but today was a painful day to be watching a deer's mother die when he had been so sorely missing his own too. He felt his chest cave in and loud internal voices reminding him of the high possibility his own mother was never coming back either and he cleared his throat to dismiss the growing emotions. "Can't believe this is a kids movie."

Returning not too long after, absolutely bouncing on her heels, Ember held out her hands to him with her face a mask of utter excitement. "They said we can play it next... oh my goodness. Just for like the first twenty minutes or something, it's like just the start that's important." At least for the context of generational trauma. Hands grasping playfully at him, she gave a gentle tug as not to hurt him while also guiding him toward the door of the bar through which was the way to the media room. "I can't wait to see your face!"

send me ‘🙌’ for me to praise one of my mutual’s oc’s. The moment I met Ember I knew for Ash it was going to be annoyance at first sight and I WAS LIVING FOR IT!! I love the fact that Ember at first glance looks like just the rich girl and I was learning with Ash that she's much better than what he thought rich people would be like. The best gold that she has is her heart. Even if it doesn't always end up well ajdgdhdh, it's the thought that counts and i love it, Ash has also learnt to be more patient with her. @emberwexley

"Guess not right now," Ash sighed gesturing to the predicament he's in right now as she suggests. He didn't mean to make her concerned about anything, hoping to wave it off, "I'll be fine, don't worry," he managed a faint smile, "it was from an old injury, I know how to handle it." Or at least Ruth will help keep him in check. It's been a few years so he's forgotten some of the PT processes.

Ashton had the same initial thought as well, wondering if there's any way to disperse them so they could continue with supply runs, but ultimately everything was too risky. And they can't afford to lose anyone else. "I'm petitioning for no more fireworks," he chuckled helplessly at the thought of what caused this all in the first place, almost a shudder at the reminder of the chaos on the beach. Definitely can't fight fireworks with fireworks, especially when their only launching pad is home.

He paused to listen to Ember, maybe for the first time giving her more patience and grace to ponder her thoughts, usually finding her blind optimism incredibly frustrating, but here, she was right. "Yeah, you're right, ironically, they are our best defense from the raiders right now. But I doubt the raiders would cool their heads, they definitely.. seem like people that would hold a grudge."

He looked over to Ember, "and how are you holding up? Spoke to Zach yet?"

"Is it though?" Brows lifting as she gave a little look at him and his current situation, the teasing in her expression was playful, though. Giving the pile of papers a tap on the floor to make sure they were all in a neat, easily portable pile, she returned to his side with face now a mask of concern at the sounds he was making. "You sure don't sound okay, you know."

Giving a little nod as she looked down at the papers there, Ember rubbed her lips together lightly, apparently lost in thought for a moment, before finally shaking it off and handing them back. "That's really smart. I was thinking some about how we could lead them away, but I don't think we have any fireworks left." Besides, shooting them off from the roof, pointed in any direction might lead those things away, but it would also lead possible raiders to them.

"At least those things are like an active defense for us, right now. Maybe by the time we figure out how to disperse them, the raiders out there will have had time to cool their heads."

As for their conversation at the beginning, I think we could say it's around ch. 429, when Bakugou asks Deku how the embers are doing. He answered in front of everyone, but he was a little more honest in private later 😕
