I'm back to reading magi but I'm doing it achronologically from chapters 1, 105, and 210. Anyways in the Balbad arc Alibaba declares intent to make Balbad as a republic with representative government and a redistribution, but in the Kou Sindria council meeting arc none of that is brought up. Instead he agrees to a deal where he will be king/acting governor and the Saluja dynasty continues. Did the author just forget?
Tsk tsl bad ugo, creating an enforced class system. Really tho that's a TERRIBLE idea.
And again with Alibaba, ch 241. With the Kou empire on the brink of civil war this is the perfect opportunity to raise an army (possibly with international support), overthow the local Kou government, and reestablish Balbadd as an independent state. You have options man. Also a marriage to the Ren family means sooo much less now, you could try and renegotiate the deal.
Ahh hakuryuu. Hmmm so his priorities shifted from revenge against al tharam who through gokurou killed his family and usurped the throne, to killing the instigator gokurou and reclaiming the throne.
Ch 250. Ok that makes a lot more sense. Yeah I'll buy that.
 Ch 288: ☆☆☆Capitalism~!☆☆☆
Ch 302: oh wow they actually brought up sensationalism in an information era. they don’t have any anti-trust laws huh
ch 312: again??? why does this always happen to hakuryuu
ch 316: essence before existence or existence before essence. how black/white rukh has been defined has changed throughout magi and I’m not sure is its intentional or the author winging it for drama. White rukh is first introduced as a person’s intended fate and black and someone choosing something different. Then we learn that white is what solomon intends for people and black is what god intends for people. Now Aladdin introduces the idea that a person envisioning a better future decides the path of the rukh.
ch 325: alright you’re losing me
FINALLY AFTER 332 CHAPTERS SOMEONE FINALLY SAYS THAT ITS THE SYSTEM THAT WRONG. not sure i trust the author with tackling systematic problems but we’ll see where this goes.
ch 337: dEBaTe ME bRo ... and the unrepentant bastard award goes tooooooo: Judal! its quite refreshing how consistent his character is.
ch 348: wasn’t there infinite vertical levels? 349: I actually really love this type of stuff haha. a dialectic in my manga? I’m happy its here. where are judal and hakuryuu
ch354: ... its like a revolving door of sinbad and david... uuuggggg just stop
ch 367:  ok... someone explain to me again how destroying the towers and breaking the system leads to wars. there will be no more difference between black and white? and that does what???  ahhhh good old alibaba
ch 369: end
so in the end they ended up with aladin’s proposal of horizontal integration and taking down ugo’s system (thank you that’s really all I wanted). I was worried if MAgi would stick the ending after 300+ chapters and I am elated to say it did! I really liked this ending overall. I can see how characters yelling philosophy and ethics for 30 chapters might put off people but this was so totally my thing.
The weak points in the series were: David. just all of david. the Al Torran flashback dragged a bit. The Hakuryuu takeover I like in concept but the execution could have been better and less reliant on edge and shock value. I’m still not sure why the Alibaba and Hakuryuu fight had to happen at all even though it ended up being really plot important. Everyone forgave him for killing alibaba way to easily. also are we just going to forget the fact that he tortured thousands of people?
alba just gets away scot free huh. turning into a kid is the worst that she gets.
