5, 22, 29 & 44 for annika, mattias & ahnari!
5. on an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?
annika— flint, spare arrows heads, a pocket knife, scrap pieces of cloth, a few animal teeth, spare gold pieces.
mattias— his phone, wallet, car keys, some loose change, lighter, a half-empty and bloodstained pack of cigarettes, some spare hair ties.
ahnari— some dried flowers/leaves, a small hand-carved totem, gold, gem, beads, crystals.
22. what does your character like in other people?
annika— loyalty and resilience, for the most part. optimism is always something she looks up to but not necessarily for; she likes people who are honest and practical, and don’t cut punches for pities sake. also, if you like animals you’re already half way to being in annika’s good books.
mattias— stubborness and sarcasm and anyone who likes a fight, verbal or physical. if you’re not afraid to stand up for yourself, or your beliefs, or the people in your life, he’ll immediately like you for your force of will alone. also, he likes people who he can tease / rile up easily.
ahnari— kindness and empathy are the most important to her. she knows that sometimes it’s not possible to be gentle, but it’s always possible to be kind, and she appreciates anyone who at least tries.
29. what did your character dream of being or doing as a child? did that dream come true?
annika— her dreams weren’t that large; she wanted to hunt, and to support her family, and have an animal companion of her own someday. it wasn’t until her teens, when the orcs of burning steppes started encroaching on dun morogh and her family’s territory, that she started to dream about joining the alliance military. she’s glad she took the vigilante/adventurer path, though.
mattias— in his human years he didn’t really have many aspirations, although he’d always been interested in music. his father didn’t approve though, and so matt learnt about commerce and business and everything else his father insisted he learn instead, and while it wasn’t as mind-numbingly boring as he’d thought his resentment towards his father clouded most of it. it came in handy, though.
ahnari— she always wanted to be raptor trainer or rider a child, and spent a lot of time watching the guards ride them around the city’s perimeter. she never really lost her love for the creatures, but her grandfather in particular fostered a love of nature and healing in ahnari that slowly swayed her dreams.
44. how easy or difficult is it for your character to say “i love you?” can they say it without meaning it?
annika— it was always difficult not because she didn’t believe in it, but because she’d never really felt it beyond her love for her father and uncle and wolves. it was uncharted territory for her, and so she’s always been hesitant to throw it around. if she says it, she wants to mean it.
mattias— it’s like pulling teeth, getting him to admit any kind of affection for anyone. his decades as a vampire have beaten the softness out of him, and he’s let it, has let himself become cold and cruel and so far from what his parents wanted him to be as a human. some small part of him does still know what it means and feels like to love someone, but he doesn’t like admitting that it’s still there.
ahnari— life is short, and if you don’t say how you feel you might never get the chance again, and so ahnari has so qualms about admitting when she cares about someone. she loves her family, and her friends, and she sees no shame in admitting that.

the lovers, the sun & the emperor in reverse for annika, natine and ahnari!
the lovers: which of your character’s relationships has been the most positive?
annika - she hasn’t had many relationships, honestly, as a result of the constant shifting of her job or her own desire to keep herself isolated from the world around her, but those that she does have are critically important to her. her relationship with her father is the most important to her, has shaped her the most, has kept her going through all the shit the world throws at her. the best soldiers have someone at home to fight for, to motivate them to not let the darkness past them, and her father is that person for annika.
natine - ione was the most important thing to natine for such a long time. she spent so many years at the academy isolated from the rest of her family and with lots of people fawning over her but never really being her friends, and so it was her sister that made her smile and happy through all that. losing ione the way she did hurt more than the fall of her people, in a lot of ways. in the aftermath of her grief, her friendships with liadrin, hauldron, rommath, and lor’themar have kept her standing.
ahnari - i haven’t really considered her family much or the people close to her, but i like to think of her having a best friend that is the foil to her calmness and compassion. a loud, brash person who she smiles fondly at, who she can vent to about the horrors she’s seen beyond the shores of zuldazar, who she can return to and they immediately continue their last conversation. idk, i’ll have to think about it.
the sun: when does your character sit back and enjoy themselves?
annika - very rarely, especially these days. it has been so long since she had longer than a few hours to herself, when the world was calm enough for her to take her armour completely off, that i don’t know if she even knows what it means to sit and relax anymore. the closest she gets is the early morning, when the coals are almost dead in the fire and the camp is quiet enough that she can sit and stretch at the edge of it with maiya laid out beside her and breathe in the chill morning air.
natine - she tries to take time for herself whenever she manages to make it back to silvermoon, but that seems to be getting rarer and rarer these days, what with the war. she misses lor’themar something terrible though, him and all her friends and family, although she takes some solace in liadrin’s presence in zuldazar. when she does make it home, she likes to visit them all and then spend a quiet evening in the courtyard of her and lor’themar’s house, taking in the afternoon sun with a nice glass of wine.
ahnari - she likes tending to the garden in her small house just outside the city, using small touches of her magic here and there to help the soil and plants. it calms her, to care for such fragile things, especially when she’s spent so much of her time lately causing such destruction in the name of her people’s new alliance with the horde. it calms the anxiety in her heart.
the emperor: who has been a positive male figure in your character’s life?
annika - her father, definitely, he taught her so much, about how to look after herself and how to string a bow, and how to be a good person above all else. she loves him so much, more than anyone, and would lay down her life for him in an instant. her uncle has played an important role in her life, too, teaching her the way of the wilds and about nature.
natine - she hasn’t had many male figures in her life, or at least not many good ones, although she grew to respect her father when he laid down his life to protect the rest of their family and the other nobles of the city when it fell.
ahnari - her grandfather taught her so much about the ways of the earth, and how to keep a gentle heart when her hands control such tremendous power, and she cherishes their talks whenever she can make it over to see him.
