what do you think about north korea x syria
any ship with syria in it (minus russia/syria. and the other one) is a 10/10 to me automatically. they both aligned themselves with the ussr when the cold war was going on, and are still allied in the modern day—and the singular nuclear reactor that syria was ever building was that of a north korean model. they have some ground to work on from the syria perspective (i can't say about north korea's, i have yet to read up on it beyond the basics), if you have any thoughts on them i'd love to hear them, though? :D

Master-post guide on [In the Borderline]
Hey guys if you’re wondering why this exists is because I think that ItB has too many words so I’m just gonna straight up give you guys summaries of each chapter. + other world building stuff that’s important because there’s a lot of it and with how long it is, it’s hard to remember lol.
Chapters for s1
Prologue: Changes
Summary—> The people around Cale Henituse noticing how he’s changed, a set up chapter for the bigger plot.
What’s important:
Events have happened differently from canon(most notably, Violan and Deruth’s marriage being pushed back three years)
Basen being vaguely aware about his brother’s reasons to acting that way (implying that Cale’s trash act wasn’t completely perfect from the start)
Jour’s study housing novels and research books of all kinds.
The regression goes back to year 777 (4 years before the Harris Village Incident)
Chapter 1: Welcome Back(1)
Summary—> Kim Roksoo witnesses the end moments of Cale’s death and interferes with the deal after passing out while reading [The Birth of a Hero]. He now knows the voice in his head(concerning I know.) was actually the trash, Cale Henituse. The first few days of the regression on Roan are detailed. Cale begins to repair his relationship with his siblings
What’s important:
They won the war. Roan Kingdom was never razed to the ground.
Lily Henituse is alive(actually count most of the hero party here too, they all would’ve technically bit the dust by the final battle in TBoaH)
The deal being imperfect.
Once again Jour’s study being basically the library of Alexandria i guess.
Chapter 2: Welcome back(2)
Summary—> Cale wakes up on Earth, they go to a library before the chapter cuts back to Roan. Cale trains and spends time with the north-eastern nobles. Two year time skip after this. At the ending Cale’s whole death is revealed alongside the deal Choi Han made with the God of Death. He is now aware of the existence of [The Birth of a Hero].
What’s important:
List of survivors: Lily, Lock, Rosalyn, Hans, Alberu, Amiru, Choi Han.
List of those who had died: Jour, Deruth, Ron, Basen, Violan, Eric, Hilsman (Ron’s situation is complicated, though lol)
Lock and Lily were not there for the finale of the battle as well as Alberu, Rosalyn was there but she did not see the final confrontation with the WS
Despite Cale making the deal immediately after he died, those in Roan lived one more year until the world was reset.
Chapter 3: What was left behind(1)
Summary—> Aftermath of Cale’s death. Backstory stuff to how Henituse got involved with the hero party. Choi Han becomes count, one year timeskip and everybody becomes the papers in [The Birth of a Hero]. Choi Han’s deal with death in detail. Death monologs about important plot stuff
What’s important:
The amount of words everyone had on their papers. For example, Lily having several blank pages despite living and witnessing major parts of the war while the original protagonists of [The Birth of a Hero] have many words on their pages.
Removing/repressing memories from souls being a difficult process since souls r memories.
The only thing stronger than Death was Memories. No one truly dies until they are forgotten.
The more GoD messes with things the less power he actually has cause of # punishment (he’s getting beat up)
Chapter 4: What was left behind(2)
Summary—> Choi Han’s back in Korea and tells his mom he’s suicidal(self aware king!) , eats food and has several flashbacks. Choi Han lives life in Korea for a month before he runs into the dark forest cause he’s paranoid (# self sacrificial king, he didn’t need to do all that tho) and he wrote a lot in diaries and journals about his time in Roan
What’s important:
Choi Han and Choi Jungsoo actually interacted in the past and Choi Han’s time on earth is closer to CJS and KRS’s time
CH’s dad(Choi Sujin/CSJ) noticing CH’s presence even though CH is literally a war veteran.
CH being mentally unstable (VERY IMPORTANT)
Chapter 5: Old friend(1)
Summary —> Cale posses KRS on earth. Cuts to Roan and Cale makes plans to go to Harris Village without Deruth’s knowledge. Important nightmare sequences happen. Cale goes to Harris village
What’s important:
The first signs of the imperfect regression.
Cale’s depressing and somewhat gay dreams
The concepts of ghosts as a whole
Chapter 6: Old friend(2)
Chapter summary—> Cale goes to Harris village and collects the Rings of Life and he also starts bleeding and looking like he’s almost dying. Choi Han was stalling meeting Cale so he took a walk near the forest only to meet Cale anyway and rush him to medical attention. CH can see KRS too and communicate telepathically. Choi Han follows them back to Rain City
What’s important:
Everything about RoL
CH being able to see KRS
CH getting out of the forest earlier.
CH having unreliable memories and narration of events
The Granny who took in Choi Han having grandchildren unlike in [The Birth of a Hero]
Chapter 7: Old friend(3)
Summary—> They get back to rain city. CH and Cale talk and communicate feelings (rare, they don’t do it again after this) Cale finds out abt Choi Han’s depressing villain origin worthy story. Deeper insight into the war. Choi Han and Beacrox face off.
What’s important:
Flashback scenes
A/N; I edited the chapter I’m okay with it now :D
Chapter 8: What to do?(1)
Summary—> Hilsman and Hans gossip while Beacrox begrudgingly listens. Hilsman gets humbled by Choi Han. Choi Han and Kim Roksoo talk and have a bonding experience abt Cale giving them gray hairs. Time passes and flashback to Choi Han talking abt killing Raon first time around. Chapter ends with them planning to sneak out
What’s important:
Everything about time and about how that is detailed
Cale and KRS not knowing anything abt why stuff is like this (they will find out eventually, unfortunately for them lmfao)
Chapter 9: What to do?(2)
Summary—> Choi Han and Cale go on a date but they don’t call it a date also Cale finds out abt Lily taking sword lessons. Chapter ends with KRS finally being able to physically interact with things after 2 years of not being able to
What’s important:
Cale’s trash act not being completely perfect.
Robin(yes they don’t show up again after this chapter but they will eventually, not rlly a major OC but their existence is something to think about time to time)
A/N: This chapter is very skippable ngl. Unless u like reading yaoi u don’t rlly have to read in between the lines for this one, only the ending segment is important. This was a filler chapter
Chapter 10: A dragon is here?!(1)
Summary—> Planning to save Raon and all of that stuff. Flashback scenes about the Henituse family, Cale promisss to get his five year old sister a great sword and no one questions it. Kim Roksoo didn’t show up for a bit and came back looking like shit which is brought up later
What’s important:
Stuff about the Henituse family.
Lily talking to Choi Han about her problems WHEN SHE WAS YOUNG(important cause she didn’t do that anymore after she got older lmfao)
Chapter 11: A dragon is here(2)
Summary—> the first half of the chapter is basically how saving Raon went in the novel with some extra dialog here and there. Cale and CH go on another date because Cale is lonely and he misses his friends and wants to see Kage and Taylor again.
What’s important:
There’s nothing important in the big scheme of things.
Kage and Cale r friends tho (guess I should say were)
Raon can see ghost Cale but because Cale is Cale he looks weird and scary like an actual ghost
A/N: tbh u could skip this chapter or just read a summary and nothing would change other than missing silly character interactions.
Chapter 12: Enjoy your youth(1)
Summary—> Cale goes to a noble meeting. We go back to earth for a flashback and find out why KRS looked like shit a few chapters ago(it was because someone was attempting to bully him but then Cale scared the shit out of the losers so it’s all good) anywho they all kinda settle into doing regular fun things and they all realize they had fucked up childhoods. They have fun and play around
What’s important:
Not much of mega importance this is just like a filler/fun chapter
Chapter 13: Enjoy your youth(2)
Summary—> Cale and KRS go to theme park and have a good time. More insight as to why KRS isn’t living with his uncle. KRS and Cale talk a little abt feelings(rare occurrence)
What’s important:
KRS originally being adopted at 14 instead of as a young child
That’s it.
Chapter 14: Getting to know you(1)
Summary—> character interactions happen, I can’t summarize all of that I’m sorry but um yeah there’s a lot of stuff about the original timeline in this chapter
What’s important:
Original timeline mentions
That’s it.
A/N; the summary for this one sucks but honestly this chapter while not super relevant is pretty important so um yeah live laugh love
Chapter 15: getting to know you(2)
Summary: Flashbacks to the past and KRS finds out CJS and CH are related because CH draws and records stories because he’s lonely and depressed and hates forgetting things important to him
What’s important:
Basen being a mage even though he’s not supposed to be (he’s not a master or anything he just learns it because he likes to study anything and everything)
Sacrificial tendencies
Okay that’s the end for now 🥹 the summaries got worse as time went on sorry about that HAHA , I’ll reblog this with the other chapters when I get the energy to continue. Anything that’s been in the ‘Whats important’ section is just kinda stuff to keep in mind. I’ll write abt the word building in another section. Tbh this mostly exists for me since I, the author, also forget a lot of things lol

IMAGES: B-52 Stratofortress lands in South Korea for the first time
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 10/17/2023 - 08:35am Military
The U.S. Air Force is celebrating the 70º anniversary of the U.S.-South Korea alliance with a huge demonstration of air power at the 2023 Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX) this week, and a B-52H Stratofortress made a full landing on the Korean Peninsula for the first time today, according to all known reports.
Tumblr media
Also during the exhibition, scheduled from October 17 to 22 at Seoul Air Base, USAF will exhibit eight other types of aircraft through static displays and aerial demonstrations, according to the Pacific Air Forces, including: F-22 Raptor, F-16 Fighting Falcon, A-10 Thunderbolt II, C-17 Globemaster III, C-5 Galaxy, KC-135 Stratotanker, U-2 Dragon Lady and E-3 Sentry. Other U.S. military aircraft include CH-47F Chinook, AH-64 Apache, F-35B Lightning II and E/A-18 Growler.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The famous nuclear-capable B-52 bomber carried out two overflights at the event before landing at Cheongju Airport, 140 km south of Seoul.
“These overflights, air demonstrations and static displays, including the landing of the B-52 on the peninsula, are part of our ongoing commitment to promote peace, stability and prosperity on the Korean peninsula,” Major Rachel Buitrago, director of Public Affairs of the 7ª Air Force, said in a statement.
Tumblr media
The B-52 Stratofortress, known as BUFF, is the main cruise missile carrier of the U.S. Air Force. The H model is now the last variant of the Stratofortress, which has been in service since the 1950s.
Although the B-52 has never landed in Korea, it has carried out several recent exercises near or over the Korean Peninsula. On June 30, several B-52s from Barksdale Air Base, along with South Korean F-16, F-15E and F-35As and KF-16, conducted a joint overflight of the country.
Tumblr media
Then, on July 13, the long-range bomber was accompanied by F-16 and three F-15K aircraft of the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) for a combined air training session over the peninsula. This exercise followed North Korea's allegations that it launched a solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile on July 12, capable of reaching the continental territory of the United States.
North Korea continued to carry out numerous missile launches this year, including the most recent test in September, when it fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the sea off the eastern coast.
Tumblr media
“We still face ongoing challenges from North Korea, including its dangerous and destabilizing missile testing program, and others that would undermine the rules-based international order,” Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in April when he welcomed South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol who was visiting the Pentagon.
Austin and President Joe Biden pledged to intensify joint military exercises between the U.S. and South Korea, including those with nuclear-capable resources, such as strategic bombers or submarines with ballistic missiles. Last week, the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan made a stopover in Busan, South Korea.
Tumblr media
“2023 marks 70 years of alliance between the United States and the Republic of Korea - an alliance that has proved to be solid in the face of challenges over many decades. It is among the most interoperable, capable and dynamic bilateral alliances in the world," Lieutenant General Scott Pleus, commander of the Seventh Air Force and deputy commander of the U.S. Forces in Korea, said in a statement.
Tumblr media
“We are honored to demonstrate our commitment to this partnership through our U.S. participation in Seoul's ADEX 23 as part of our ongoing commitment to promoting peace, stability and prosperity on the Korean peninsula,” Pleus added.
This biennial exhibition, the largest of its kind in Northeast Asia, presents aircraft, ground equipment, air demonstrations and attracts aviation and aerospace experts and defense personnel from all over the world.

I've had to leave roleplaying communities, notably the FFXV RPC, for calling out racists. I was kicked out of a server run by people who I thought were my friends when I said "making a ch*nky-eyed caricature of a North Korean soldier/saying that the US should just nuke North Korea is racist". Not only was I kicked from the server, but the admin basically gave me a non-apology by saying "well, I'm sorry you thought it was offensive and don't grasp political humor".
What I did on my blog was reblog a "how properly apologize for racism" explanation and I was mass blocked for 'causing drama'. I didn't even name anyone because I was scared that I'd get even more negative backlash, despite having screenshots and my friend from Germany's screenshoits of everyone in the server talking mad shit about how "oversensitive" I am.
And you know what, I'm tired of being scared and cowed into silence just because white people have a conniption fit if you so much as bring up the word 'racism' in their soft cozy little 'for fun' space.
Tumblr media
Interesting choice of words. So, racism isn't dangerous to anyone in any way? Calling what happened to Bunny 'bullying' is already a stretch, but calling it a LYNCHING when their safety isn't even close to being threatened to a group of people who actually have to fear shit like that is so amazingly tone deaf, I'm almost impressed.
Tumblr media
Yes, it is justified. The backlash that's been happening is honestly LIGHT compared to the kind of harm people like that are spreading by being racist and influencing people into shaming roleplayers of color for speaking out against an issue that obviously concerns us.
This isn't a matter of "being unlikeable", it's a matter of common decency. I hate it when people seem to think that like, we need to be straight up fucking killed by racists for it to 'count' as racism. It doesn't even matter if you are intentionally or unintentionally being racist- You're still racist. Your attitude, beliefs, and actions are racist.
You know what takes guts? Existing in a world that hates, devalues, and dehumanizes you every day and still managing to walk out the door and willingly subject yourself to the possibility of being killed or harassed because you can't carve out a life for yourself otherwise. It takes guts to stand up to people like you, knowing that you hold all the power and can get away with this kind of behavior without even trying.
True kindness considers and centers the recipient- Is your perception of kindness even rooted in truth, will your brand of 'kindness' make a tangible change in that person's life or the idea of the human condition? Kindness that is rooted in justice always understands that the act of holding others accountable is that of love and promoting understanding between people. The impact of an act of kindness should always be the focus, not the intent for the giver.
Anyway, TL;DR @wvrlock

Ah, the Soviet as a dad post. I think the reason it took me so long to actually make it is less because it's a complicated subject (it really isn't) and more because I was unsure how to word this in a way that couldn't be misinterpreted.
But let's be honest here... Who gives a shit? CH is a fandom with no strict canon (outside of maybe basic geography and history), so you're supposed to do whatever you feel like. And this is what I'll do. Hope you find this at least half as interesting as I do! :) I haven't been able to say everything I wanted to, but I didn't want to repeat myself too much, lol.
So first things first, there is one very important thing to consider when it comes to how Soviet acts just in general:
He's very, and I mean very, dedicated to the communist cause and follows strict party guidelines even to the detriment of other things.
And that was actually the reason he ended up being a father at all. Following orders even if he felt himself unable to. Because Soviet was always a person who fared well on the battlefield - not in real social life. He was a soldier and a believer in the message, but he never really saw himself as anything else, which excluded the thought of caring for another human being from his mind.
Basically, he didn't want to be a father. But due to the pressure from his government to take in Russia and later the other incarnations of the members of the Union, he did it. To his - and, to be honest, their - detriment.
Now, do I think he was a bad father? Eh, not really. Do I think he was a good father? Eh, not really.
Soviet wasn't the kind of guy to willingly treat children badly, much less his own. He didn't hit them (in fact, the Soviets were very adamantly against child abuse even in the early aughts, so refer to the point I made earlier), and to be honest, I don't think he even ever yelled at them.
His main problem was always emotional distance - something that wasn't reserved for his children, as he was like that with everyone. That's still a problem when you have people depending on you, though. Sure, you can provide for their physical and social needs, but being emotionally unavailable will always leave a mark. And like I said, that wasn't something he had just for his kids, you'd be very hard-pressed to find even an adult country he was close to.
And with the "favoritism" thing. As much as I understand where the view comes from, at least from the way I view it, he would never, ever in a million years, have a favorite child. Do you really think a person so absolutely hellbent on the principles of equality would rank people in his mind, especially those who depend on him? The thought comes from the fact that he was close to Russia, but then you have to remember that Russia was literally the first child he took care of. One on one, even. Which would've allowed for a more personal connection than any of the other thirteen. (Also, Russia literally ran after his father every moment of the day, so yeah, they would've been around each other often).
Of course, that's not to excuse subpar parenting behavior. It seemed that the guy picked favorites, he did have the children he was closest with, and it was his own damn problem to fix because he's an adult. Even if he's the picture of having interpersonal problems, it was his responsibility to make it not so.
But then, I think I would also have to say that in the wider communist sphere of the time, East Germany and North Korea would have to be his favorite countries because he was the nicest to them (because they were children). I just don't think it's fully that simple.
Anyway, I guess the thing about him being a father is just that it's more complicated than it seems. I have dedicated an inordinate amount of thought to this man, so I hope you understand what I mean, lol. But if not, I can always clarify.
That will be that for now, thanks for reading. :)

Okay for any readers in Japan, South Korea, Israel, the UK, or any other country outside the US who don’t know who Ron DeSantis is, this guy passed anti-immigrant laws, anti-LGBTQIA+ laws, and other agregious laws go against human rights in Florida. Even if you don’t care about what’s going in US politics, this guy is planning to run for President and he’s not gonna care if anything bad happens to you overseas. You think Trump is bad? Ron DeSantis is worse.
