Livestream available at https://livestream.com/accounts/5611656/events/8680604 The Caribbean.Girls.Hack – 2019 Hackathon, celebrates Girls in ICT, and is designed to give hundreds of girls in High School and Universities a 2-month immersive and interactive experience in the use of technology to address issues affecting them, their families and communities in Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. An important objective of the program, which runs March – May 2019, is to allow the girls to meet, form solid networks, hack and have fun while creating stronger regional ties between Caribbean countries. #FutureSafeGirls Through the Hackathon activities, we will engage the Hacker Girls in a deeper understanding and a critical thinking process, around the issue of GBV and Climate Change and Resilience to equip them to create technology solutions that are practical and workable and by doing so begin the process of seeing themselves as change agents to address these issues, not only in the Caribbean but Globally. #ClimateSafeFutureSafe We are excited to highlight that each participating school will also undertake tree planting at their schools as a carbon offset activity, raising their awareness and understanding on the importance of reducing their carbon footprint to mitigate negative environmental impacts. This is a zero-carbon hackathon event.
