Haha don’t apologize! The heart wants what the heart wants when it comes to shipping and like I said, I knew we had some pretty widely differing ships in general. I was just curious what your thoughts were! :)

TBH I think Claude’s always gonna own my heart... but I’m super stoked to play through BL and get to know Dimitri too! He seems like the most popular choice for F!Byleth from what I’ve seen so it’ll be cool to see what the fuss is all about. ;3

Lys/Lin and Petra/Ashe we do share though!! I’m finding that I have a huge love for the between-house supports for some reason? I just unlocked every single possible support you can get from a GD route and I’m currently gunning for Marianne/Ferdinand (“everyone has a purpose, you just have to keep looking for it.” SLAYED ME MY GOSH), Hilda/Caspar (he’s too dense to be seduced and I find that hilarious), Ignatz/MayaRaphael (their paired ending is FREAKING CUTE), and obviously Lorenz/Leonie for my Deer bbies. Been getting charmed hardcore by Sylvain/Dorothea and Felix/Bernie though.... heh, again, wide disparity, but that’s okay!! Highly recommend all of the above if you haven’t seen them! Even if they don’t become ship worthy, they’re great supports in their own right. (Then again, there are VERY few bad supports in my opinion. The writing is so good this time around!)

I’m laughing so hard cause I think we share maybe 2 FE ships across the entire franchise but now I’m curious what ships you have for 3H so far since they’re so different from mine? xP

I also ADORE Felix/Annette, Sylvain/Ingrid, Dedue/Mercedes, Ashe/Petra, Raphael/Marianne, Leonie/Ignatz, Linhardt/Lysithea, Caspar/Bernadetta, Ferdinand/Dorothea, Seteth/Manuela, and I know they don’t have supports and I’m salty about that, but I crackship Cyril/Flayn.

A lot of these ships need more love.

Claude/Hilda not only are on the same wavelength, but they understand each other, can never manipulate the other, and are best friends first which is the foundation of all great relationships.

I never expected to ship Felix/Annette BUT HOLY CRAP THEIR SUPPORT! Felix is such a jerk to practically everyone in their supports until after the C support where you see there is more to Felix than being a grumpy a-hole. However with Annette HE’S NICE AND PLAYFULLY TEASING FROM THE GETGO! Also their supports are adorable! Also funny too!

Sylvain/Ingrid reminds me a lot of a couple classic anime ships I love (Miroku/Sango for instance from InuYasha). Plus I love how Sylvain has everyone fooled except her. She knows him better than most people and he her. Also they understand each other with the issues with their families and the Crest system, the two get one of the best endings regarding that issue. Also they’re childhood friends and I’m a sucker for that. I know Ingrid is childhood friends with Felix and Dimitri too...but I don’t feel the same chemistry with them as I do her and Sylvain. The other two feel more like brothers where as Sylvain I feel more like an old married couple.

Dedue/Mercedes, HOLY CRAP THIS SHIP! I was told do the support and I wouldn’t regret it, how right that was! This ship is SOOOO PURE! I don’t want to spoil too much except please check it out if you haven’t! I cannot do any justice to how wonderful these supports or their paired ending is!

Ashe/Petra is another one that surprised me. I never intended to ship it but really I was just shopping Ashe around with who I could support him with that wasn’t taken. However this one was a pleasant surprise. Their C support starts off as amusing and a little cute. But the two gel really well as it goes on and their A support and paired ending is so sweet and perfect! It feels like a natural conclusion for the two!

Raphael/Marianne, from what I knew of their personalities I had a suspicion I’d want to support them. BOY HOWDY WAS I RIGHT! It’s so dang wholesome, and Raphael is the perfect teddy bear for sweet Marianne! He doesn’t judge her at all, he accepts her as she is and embraces that. He wants to connect with her and through his efforts you can see how touched Marianne is. Also GIANT GUY AND PETITE GIRL AESTETIC!

Now as for Leonie/Ignatz, I tried, I really tried Chip. I was trying to check out Lorenz and Leonie because I know you loved it. And while it was nice, especially the B support...it didn’t pull me away from Ignatz with Leonie (as I already accidentally had their two supports done on my first playthrough when I recruited them for BL) I wanted to try your ship...but my heart couldn’t stop. It wanted to see more of Leonie/Ignatz! She’s just so darn SWEET AND KIND AND SUPPORTIVE to Ignatz. Leonie can come off a bit strong willed and stubborn in some of her supports but with Ignatz she’s so SOFT with this cute shy nerd from the getgo! She helps him figure out what he wants to do with his life and find a dream for himself and they’re both so wonderful AND IT KILLS ME THERE IS NO CONTENT FOR THEM!!! I’m sorry I tried, I really did but this ship claimed my soul and I cannot see her with anyone else.

Linhardt/Lysithea was amusing at first but surprisingly tinged with some angst, only to circle around to their A-support to be extremely heartwarming! Also Linhardt gives Lysithea one of the BEST endings in the paired endings so that boosted it a lot.

Caspar/Bernadetta was also something I never planned on shipping, heck I outright expected I wouldn’t like it. Considering how different these two are and I’m very particular about my opposite attract type ships. Because some out there have no chemistry. At first I was worried it’d go that way when I started the C support, but then the end of the C support surprised me, showing me there was more than what I originally perceived. The more I went into it the more I started to grow very fond of this pairing.

Now on my first BL playthrough, I never expected to ship Ferdinand/Dorothea. And certainly not in the way I came to ship it. I only got to their C support and from that alone, you see Dorothea STRONGLY dislikes Ferdie. However I failed to recruit Ferdinand in time for the timeskip. So unfortunately he was going to be my enemy. Well then something happened. On a certain map I’m told there is a chance you can recruit Ferdinand (and Lorenz) in the BL route IF you defeat them as Byleth. I didn’t know this as I had Dedue confronting him and to my horror I killed Ferdie. I was...very sad. I really grew fond of this ginger knucklehead noble boy pre-timeskip. Now after the battle ended and we go to the next month and I explore the monastery...I run into Dorothea at the fishing area. I was not expecting what would come out of her mouth. Remember I only got her C-support with him at the time where she plainly tells a confused Ferdinand she hates him. What Dorothea said...GUTTED ME! Through the timeskip you can see how this war is wearing thin on her. She often laments of each battle with it only bringing more death and loss of soldiers, she just wants it to end. I feel for her so much and want to hug her. But that isn’t what gutted me, it’s what she said this particular time that gutted me. “Ferdie...he was our friend. And we killed him.” THAT KILLED ME SO MUCH! Again I only got their C-support, I hadn’t seen the other supports yet. So in my eyes, claiming she hated him in the C-support was a lie, she did care. She didn’t hate him. She did see him as a friend. But because he died I locked her out of the rest of a support so she never got to tell him she was wrong and did care AND THAT KILLED ME! I vowed on my second BL playthrough THE FIRST PERSON I would recruit is Ferdie and Dorothea so I don’t put poor Dorothea through that again. Okay...long winded story aside...the rest of their support was also fantastic. But that’s why I started shipping them. AND THEIR SUPPORTS ARE REALLY GOOD TOO!

Seteth/Manuela, another case of “I never expected to ship this and yet here I am consumed by them”. I accidentally unlocked their C support which was HILARIOUS as you expect with their clashing personalities. So I started having them fight with each other more because I wanted to see if there was more hilarity. There was...some...but I was not expecting such...wow. Like their B support caught me off guard. I don’t want to say too much because wow please go see it! It’s REALLY good!

I’m salty Cyril/Flayn has no support because wtf I could see these two getting along and helping each other grow wonderful AND DANGIT INSYS WHY CAN’T I SUPPORT THEM?! Screw it I’m still crack shipping it, you cannotstop me.

I would be here all day explaining why I love Dimitri/Byleth. Like you have no idea how much I would gush about this ship. This is Chrom/Robin level of these two are soulmates and their dynamic is wonderful and they truly complete each other! And soooo many more things! Just like how pairing Robin with anyone other than Chrom—and vice versa...it feels WRONG to me to pair Dimitri or Byleth with anyone else. It has a different feel as Chrom/Robin yet the unbridled trust, affection, respect, and COMPLETENESS feels kinda similar while also being different at the same time. It certainly sucked me into this ship as hard and fast as Chrobin did. I never expected I’d fall this hard for it but holy crap it owns my soul and there is no escape for me!

35. Switch pre timeskip designs—I think Hilda would rock Hapi’s crop top. Hapi may not be a pigtails kind of lady but I think she could pull it off!

36. Switch post timeskip designs—picture Lysithea in Ingrid’s horse girl armor. With the haircut. It doesn’t work quite as well the other way, Ingrid in Lysithea’s dress, but Lysithea with just a little armor? Heck yeah.

47. Favorite Byleth ship—this is rude, but it depends! It changes depending on the route.

I love the Crimson Flower ending with Linhardt. (Surprise.) In CF, unlike every other route, Byleth doesn’t become the head of the Church. They reject their ‘destiny’ in CF to become their own person, not just the Sothis reincarnation that Rhea wants them to be. Choosing Linhardt is an extension of that theme, since although there’s still the TWSITD issue to take care of, I always pictured them finding an isolated cabin by a lake and living their lives as they want to. No churches or countries to run, no professor role to fill, no gods to become. Just them, being human, fishing and being happy.

I do like how the Byleth/Dimitri ship is written into Azure Moon. There’s buildup, there’s follow-through. I think Byleth grows to be more than just a queen and an archbishop, and that Dimitri grows into more than just a king. I like to imagine that they help each other to be better.

I like Lorenz in Verdant Wind. You just know that he’s going to treat anyone he marries like royalty. For all that Byleth is a reincarnation of Sothis, they’re still a mercenary with a year of high school teaching experience. I can imagine they’d get anxious, being expected to make important decisions after Claude nopes out of there like a jerk. Lorenz has education in administration and can help, and I imagine he’d do his best to help Byleth make those decisions on their own. Through his supports with Claude, we see that Lorenz accepts that others may be better leaders, and that he may be destined to play a supporting role, but goshdangit he’s gonna be the best support role ever.

Silver Snow, Dorothea. She legitimately wants to help people, and to me, that’s what SS is about. She cares about people. She’s not passive, either—she gave up fleeting stardom to go to school and aim for a better, lasting life. In SS, Fodlan folds. The Kingdom and the Alliance are weakened, and the Empire is the Empire. Everyone needs something strong to look up to, and not only do Dorothea and Byleth fit that role, I believe they’d truly excel at it with each other to lean on.

playing sacred stones is so jarring of an experience sometimes now that i'm deep into FE. like. it's a pretty basic ass FE with no real moral message other than be gay defeat satan don't try to commit necromancy. but then again we can't all be the tellius games, and god forbid we be whatever the fuck the CF route on feth is. eirika and ephraim are both poorly written but like so are 90% of fe characters, so what's the point in getting mad

I think one of the things I enjoy most about Claude as a character is that he can switch seamlessly between charming schemer, heavily burdened leader who’s trying so hard to figure it out, softhearted dreamer, and chaotic idiot boy and they all feel true to who he is.

We really gonna sleep on the fact that not only is Leonie’s village located in Gloucester territory but also that Lorenz was technically a catalyst in Leonie meeting Jeralt?

I dunno if it’s just my bias coming into play here, but all the Ashen Wolves just feel like belong in Golden Deer House??

Claude, frankly, has the most interesting interactions with all the Ashen Wolves (at least in the main dlc and with the exception of maybe Hapi) cause he’s dealt with similar personalities already. And he and Yuri canonically get along well cause they’re both secretive mastermind types and I love it.

Even beyond his connection to Holst, Balthus has that carefree attitude that I could see fitting in really well with the Deer, and he and Raph would absolutely train together. He’d also probably very much like Leonie’s fiery can do approach to life.

Hapi is the single character I’d be able to see in any of the houses, but tbh she and Marianne bonding over their “curses” would offer up a lot of fleshing out for both of them. I could see her and Ignatz having a good support too. Also she mentions she was experimented on? She and Lysithea would also have an interesting support then.

Aaaaand Constance and Lorenz trying to out fancy each other only for her to switch to wilting flower mode and Lorenz getting all confused just sounds amazing.
