Commerce Ministry seeks Junior Translator with MA in Hindi/English in Kochi by January 31, 2024.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, is seeking to fill the position of Junior Translation Officer on a deputation basis in the Regional Authority of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) at Kochi. The DGFT is responsible for formulating and implementing foreign trade policies and supporting exporters. The DGFT has its headquarters in New Delhi, with 24 field offices known as Regional Authorities located across India. The Regional Authorities are divided into four zones: Eastern, Western, Northern, and Southern. The Southern Zone includes the Regional Authority at Kochi.
The position requires a Master’s degree in Hindi/English with English/Hindi as a main subject at the degree level or a Master’s degree in any subject with Hindi as the medium of instruction and examination and English as a compulsory subject at the degree level. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with Hindi and English as main subjects or medium of examination, along with a recognized Diploma/Certificate Course in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa or two years of experience in translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central Government Offices is also accepted.
Candidates must submit their applications through the proper channel along with a Vigilance Clearance and details of any major/minor penalties imposed during the last 10 years. The selected candidates will be appointed on a deputation basis for a period not exceeding three years. The terms of deputation will be regulated according to the Department of Personal and Training’s guidelines.
The maximum age for applicants should not exceed 56 years on the closing date of the receipt of applications. Only applications submitted through the proper channel will be considered. Applicants should indicate their service particulars and experience in Central Government Offices.
Interested candidates should complete the application form provided in Annexure I and submit it to the Office of the Zonal Additional Director General of Foreign Trade in Chennai by January 31, 2024. Along with the application, candidates should include a copy of the Vigilance Clearance, details of major/minor penalties, and attested photocopies of their Annual Performance Appraisal Reports for the last five years.
The forwarding authority/parent department/cadre controlling authority should certify that all the information provided by the applicant is correct and that they possess the necessary eligibility and experience mentioned in the vacancy circular. The authority should also certify that there are no pending vigilance or disciplinary cases against the applicant and that their integrity is beyond doubt.
No major or minor penalties should have been imposed on the applicant during the last ten years. If any penalties have been imposed, details should be provided.
