bartylus 💓💖👅 such a good + honestly underrated ship!

i think bartylus works exceptionally well in a post-jegulus fling, best friends to obsessed-with-one-another lovers context. regulus has had a one sided crush on james for awhile—which obviously makes him hate himself—and finally james kind of leads him on for awhile, befriending him and maybe having a short-lived romance? but james isn't as interested as regulus, and leaves regulus heartbroken and alone. imo this would happen around regulus's fourth year, but possibly later.

barty then finally gets attention from regulus, and he becomes a little possessive of him. this being a big change from his previous relationship(s), regulus enjoys the feeling of being desired and from there they just get closer and closer. barty practically worships the ground regulus walks on, and regulus is happy to inflate barty's ego by telling him how intelligent he is. they are so different in personality, but they have fundamental similarities and that's what makes them so compatible.

i also love them in a best friends to rival death eaters context!!! they're both competing for voldemort's attention, they're the most intelligent ones, the youngest ones. it's like a workplace romance of sorts

okay what do we think about the sister dynamic between andromeda, narcissa and bellatrix (ive heard too many versions)

i'm gonna try to keep my answer short but basically they are each other's best friends, at least as children. they are sooo deliciously tragic.

bellatrix took care of her sisters, at least until she got a taste of the power that comes with inducing fear, and while she didn't necessarily try to scare her sisters until they're adults, it definitely changed her for the worse.

andromeda was similar to bellatrix in that she always looked after narcissa, but instead of becoming power-hungry and bitter, she only became kinder as time went on. bella was robbed of being the heir to the black family, but andromeda had never had the expectation, so she always knew she'd have to decide her fate, and she did just that when she ran away to marry ted tonks (she'd obviously distanced herself from her toxic family before, but that was the last blow).

narcissa, the baby of the family, knew from the start that, with her good looks and demure manner, she'd be the one to marry and have children. bellatrix was too belligerent to be promised to anyone she hadn't chosen (although, rodolphus definitely wasn't completely her choice), especially when she didn't have the honor of being heir, and andromeda too flaky and carefree. she let herself be the gentle, meek woman no man could refuse when offered to marry.

when they were younger, though, one could hardly tell them apart, with bellatrix and andromeda's similar appearances and narcissa constantly copying her older sisters. still, they grew apart as if the fates were pulling the strings. they were never meant to be close sisters, because that was not how the black family raised their children.

omg i want a digital camera so bad. i got an instax poloroid camera years ago and it works but it doesn’t pick up the sunset right and my phone camera doesn’t perceive it how i want it to 😣😣😣

sorry this took me so long to answer !!

i find their dynamic SO interesting. severus, the normally hostile and antisocial guy, is taken out of his shell by the “good girl” lily evans. they're very boyloser & girlboss, but not in a healthy way. severus, at least when he was younger, always assumes that he will be chosen, forgiven, even loved by lily, and that his actions have no reflection of his real character. he is so mistaken. lily sees him as this portal into a world that both frightens and intrigues her. she is curious and clever and a free-thinker, much like him—because he, too, is a free-thinker, and he chose to make friends with purebloods who would hate lily, he chose to act like them, etc. he changed his mind, but out of the selfish savior complex he'd grown to develop for lily. but lily eventually realizes that severus was less her knight in shining armor, and more the person trying to keep her captive.

in short, i think they have a very interesting dynamic, but it's not healthy, and severus is the root problem at the end of the day. BUT !!!! still incredibly interesting characters to think about
