"THE LAST PARADE"

One of several initiatives of Centro San Antonio is Art Everywhere, a manifestation of its belief that art in the public realm is one of the attributes of great downtowns around the world. Centro has now produced 48 murals around the city and in early 2021 Centro invited local indigenous artist Rudy Herrera to add his touch to the side of the historic Kress building at Houston and Jefferson Streets. Herrera told @SAReport that his imagery tells a personal story, "connecting to his indigenous ancestry and the nature of creation." For this massive 75' by 105' wall—his largest ever—Herrera conquered his fear of heights and created a story inspired, at least in part, by his leap from restaurant worker to full time artist.
