JD ZAZIE AT CENTROPIA

Centropia is a series of events inaugurating a new experimental era of Centrum. Inspired by the concept of Entropy -a situation defined by lack of order or predictability, disorder, and chaos- Centropia is a liminal zone, an in-between moment, where perceived space and time disentangle revealing fragments of a new reality. It will start in the frame of CTM Vorspiel 2020 and will be curated by Katerina Gnafaki & Jorgina Stamogianni. For this events JD Zazie has been invited to play solo on January 19. She will share the night with Vera Chotzoglou and Maya Shenfeld.

Vera Chotzoglou’s Rausch is not necessarily presented as a literal intoxication but also as an emotional one. The subject experiences a communion, a spiritual encounter that co-exists with rapture, the division of the soul, its departure from the Sensible World. The body turns into a place of observation.

Maya Shenfeld’s works span from electroacoustic compositions, sound installations and ensemble pieces to performing as a classical, experimental and rock guitarist. In her practice, Shenfeld explores the intersection between modes of musical production used in experimental and popular music. Her interests lie in the embodiment of the listening experience, researching temporality, deep listening, just intonation, and microtonality. 

JD Zazie  has explored over the years different approaches of real-time manipulation on fixed recorded sound. In her work, she redefines DJ and electroacoustic activities. As a solo performer, in small groups or large ensembles, she moves in an area that is constantly stretching the borders of what is supposed to be DJ mixing, free improvisation, and composed music.

The opening of Centrum will take place on January 16 at 6 PM. The series will present nine events. Please check their details on Centrum’s web page.

These circumstances call for Europe-wide action that would not only challenge the top down practices driven by the governments and markets, but that would also propose institutional innovations for deepening democratic governance and increasing social equity.

In the context of CULBURB -> cultural, acupuncture, treatment for suburbs-, the project "Nostalgia" organised by the Centre for Central European Architecture in Prague (CCEA) and the NGO Onorthodox has been launched.
