Happy one year to Bolt in the Blue by @valeriianz ! Truly the best band au fics I've ever read, I am Endless' #2 fan forever (#1 is Hob, of course) 💙🎸✨

i love taking advantage of my art uni's massive (MASSIVE) scanners for literally anything i can. it's got the most gorgeous grit and scan banding that photoshop trickery cant replicate (though i try lol). so, yes, i literally printed out the b&w flyers, scanned them in, then added color and printed them again to stick on my wall haha.

when digitally adding color, i wanted it to really feel like black ink on colored paper instead of trying to print on color paper and then scan it again (i have done this before idk). i think the xerox-y look is pretty convincing! the green, pink, and purple are my personal favs.

an irl friend suggest i try non-black-ink versions to see what i liked. i think they look cool but some of the text gets a bit lost. still, i like the pale yellow+red ink one. (this almost makes me want to try riso printing this to see what it'd look like 👀👀).

^ this is what the white horse metal barrier edit looked like before I added the Huji Cam filter lol. it wasn't feeling convincing enough like this, so i actually took a photo of my laptop screen with the filter and somehow that looked more real than the actual shot from the show lol. (also, because i've stared at this screenshot for so long, the orange/yellow June 12th poster? is everything on it a reference?? loll)

oh hi there c: slapping a Read More because this also got a little long

we got the OG playlist, made this in October 2022. i also answered an ask about this playlist back in late 2022, here! this is just music that gives me Endless vibes. but to be honest, ive had comments about how the band gives off more goth rock or heavy metal or even something softer and more contemporary and... you know, that's totally cool. what they sound like in my head is not the end all and if the music on this playlist isn't your jam, Endless can be whatever you want them to be haha.

this other one i didn't promote as much, but also the songs on it are a very different vibe to the one above. this playlist updates with every chapter, follow along if you want or wait til the fic is done and listen to the whole thing in order. every song coincides with something in the chapter.

some key tracks that i'll geek out about:

"Magic," chapter 1. i think it's really cute and lets us know that Hob definitely left an impression on Dream and that he was thinking about him even after such a short interaction. and the chorus foreshadows Hob going on tour with the band:

"One journey for you but it's worth it One life here with me and it's magic"

and i thought this line was a fun way to foreshadow Dream being impressed that Hob threw sass back in his face after the whole missing bass guitar incident:

"I found you one day with a mouth full of attitude And you stole me away, you stole me away"

"Four Sticks," chapter 4. Hob feeling frustrated and confused because despite how Dream is treating him, fuck- he still really likes him. also, the song is in 5/4 time ;)

"Great Divide," chapter 6. Hob is about to start his grand adventure. and Matthew is stepping way out of his comfort zone to come along. it's going to be life changing for both of them!

"If we find our way, we may never be the same On our way! On our way! And if we lose everything, what have we to gain? On our way! On our way! If we don't try to go... We may never know..."

"Imposters (Little by Little)," chapter 9. ahh a pining kind of love song (also im being a tease with the chorus being "little by little, by little by little..." haha)

"Lay by Me," chapter 14. just a cute lil folksy song. the chorus got me hype for their first kiss, finally! just "whoa oh oh!" all the way through lmao. but it also goes along with Hob getting Dream out of his head a little:

Writing Game 1.3: Storm

Prompt; Storm Pairing: Kaiden Alenko x Steve Rogers

Boom.

Steve places his hand against the glass of the window, imagining it rattle with the force of the sound. It doesn't. The windows are reinforced, of course. Sometimes it seems like everything is indestructible. Not that that's bad... but it doesn't help Steve's sense of reality when nothing ever seems to retain marks or scratches or even react the way he's used to.

It shouldn't bother him this much. He'll probably have to tell his therapist about it when he meets her this week - it's still astonishing to him that two hundred and thirty-eight years later, there's so much more of an understanding of the human mind. Almost more astonishing that he lives on a space station at such an incredible distance from everything he's ever known.

It's good to be back on Earth - sometimes the Citadel is a bit much. But sometimes, these moods strike him. He feels a sense of coldness, more out of pace with the present than usual.

Boom.

"Hey."

Steve gives a little start, but is thankful Kaidan doesn't acknowledge it. Kaidan walks forward, opening his arms, and Steve lets him hold him from behind, resting his chin on his shoulder.

There are just some things he never really has to worry about with Kaidan. Maybe it's both being military. Kaidan doesn't initiate contact without announcing his presence first. He's patient and careful, and Steve sees a lot of himself in the other man. And Kaidan's endless stability is the perfect complement to the inner fire and passion Steve carries.

"Watching the storm?"

"Kind of?" Steve rests his temple against Kaidan's head. "It's just... the lightning. It's so close. Right over us. And the windows don't even rattle."

Kaidan's eyes widen - Steve can feel the movement of his face. "Oh, no, should I have gotten us the soundproof windows? You weren't triggered or anything-"

Steve chuckles. "Hey, have been talking to Dr. Varma behind my back?"

Kaidan calms. "Sorry."

"I... not triggered. I guess I was just feeling a little... homesick. Everything is so... durable. It's a good thing, it's just... not like what I remember."

Kaidan's arms tighten just a little around him, in a comforting squeeze. They stand in silence for a while, watching the flashes of lightning and hearing the peals of thunder.

The clouds finally open, punctuating the crash of thunder with the staccato percussion of raindrops against the windows.

"The storm." Kaidan breathes.

"Yeah?" Steve prompts, a little confused.

"The storm's the same. No matter what, it's a buildup of energy and a sudden rebalancing of that energy. That lightning bolt is still the same process that happened way before either of us were here." Kaidan says. "I'm not saying you can't feel nostalgic or sad, but... not everything around you has changed."

Steve closes his eyes. The sound is familiar. The same thudding splash, the same rolling rumble. But something far more electrifying is part of the sensation. The feeling of strong arms around him. Of the welcome warmth of a loved one's breath against his skin. Maybe some things have changed. But not all of that is necessarily bad.

Boom.

Steve turns his head and kisses Kaidan's stubbly cheek. "You think maybe we could get back in bed?"

Kaidan grins. "I mean, cuddling is probably the objectively best way to spend a rainstorm."

"My thoughts exactly." Steve grins, quickly taking Kaidan by the hand and leading him away from the window, already feeling lighter in his heart than before.
