Ok, so for the podcast recommendation thing, my favourite podcast is Rusty Quill Gaming, but this comes up in other podcasts too.

I love characters who are very low charisma, in Pathfinder terms, but are quite genuine. Awkward messes like Sasha Racket, who never knows what to say, and would much rather be ignored, who makes friends by just trying to fly an airship together, or doing cool knife tricks. Or Zolf Smith, who gets pissed off at the god he worships and stops worshipping him, because he values himself and his own individuality too much. He also has no idea how to do selfcare. Or Celquilithon Sidebottom, who will just infodump whenever one of their interests comes up, but also has a really really interesting backstory, and has lived varying lives before the campaign.

Basically, I want awkward characters who feel like real people, and don't depend on anyone else too much. They don't need to be in a relationship, or even have consistent friends.

Is that too much to ask?

Yeah, I'd say there a fair amount of characters in audio drama who rely on their individuality and talent to the point of coming off as abrasiveness and alienating other characters

There are a couple doctors/scientists in scifi shows like Fred Eurus from Tides, who's broadly dismissive of her co-workers in season one, and a fair amount of the cast of ars Paradoxica, who are all so goal-focused, they're willing to justify their ends above how it affects even the closest people in their lives

There's snarky private detective Jack St. James from Superstition, who is less snarky in a "charming rogue who somehow gets away with everything," kind of way and more in a "seems like she's specifically trying to get under their skin to see where the breaking point is" kind of way

There's Augie Eckhart from The Vanishing Act, who is absolutely obnoxious and self-obsessed and will infodump about his incredibly niche hyperfixation at the slightest excuse and also the main character of this show so you just have to deal with him and just kinda hope he gets not like this
