“Not Feeling Well,” Willie Nelson Will Miss Three Outlaw Music Festival Dates; Lukas Nelson to Fill In
- “He is expected to make a quick recovery,” festival organizers say
Under “doctor’s orders” to rest, Willie Nelson will miss the first three dates of his Outlaw Music Festival, event organizers said.
“We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days,” they said in a statement. “He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.”
The announcement came hours before the tour kicks off June 21 in Georgia. Willie’s son Lukas Nelson will instead play with Dad’s Family Band “along with a few guests;” Bob Dylan, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and Celisse will perform as scheduled.
Nelson will also miss shows scheduled for June 22 and 23 in North Carolina. He could return as early as June 26 in Virginia.
Headlined by Nelson, the Outlaw Music Festival is scheduled to run through Sept. 20, with different lineups on various legs.

Look, apparently Brandi Carlile regularly covers “Creep” by Radiohead at live shows and sometimes has Celisse (whose name I just learned) play electric guitar during it and, holy cow, even this less-than-stellar concert recording is still great.
This video also includes “The Story” which a lot of people associate with Sara Ramirez from Grey’s Anatomy because she covered the song on the show and…like…Sara Ramirez is lovely and has a very strong and wonderful voice, but Brandi’s version is just…special. (She did not write the song; one of her writer partners did. But I believe she was the first to record it.)

Song Review: Joni Mitchell - “Summertime” (Live, July 24, 2022)
Accompanied by Ben Lusher’s jazz-lounge piano, Celisse’s blues-club electric guitar and a cast of singers including Lucius, Allison Russell, Brandi Carlile and others, Joni Mitchell declared: the livin’ is easy at the 2022 Newport Folk Festival.
That Mitchell delivered the line from “Summertime” without irony was itself ironic. Then 78, seated and surrounded by a huge supporting cast, Mitchell was performing in public for the first time in two decades.
And she pulled it off. The voice isn’t anywhere near familiar. But Mitchell’s ability as a singer is intact. And she managed to use what’s left of her instrument for all it was worth.
No one can blame her friends and collaborators for being overly enthused; however, their attempts to inject themselves detract from, rather than enhance, the performance. For while Mitchell may be diminished, she is not derelict.
“Summertime” follows “Both Sides Now” from the forthcoming (July 28) release of At Newport, which presents Mitchell’s surprise, July 24, 2022, appearance in its entirety.
Grade card: Joni Mitchell - “Summertime” (Live 7/24/22) - B-

Marcus Mumford performing “House of the Rising Sun”. with Trombone Shorty, Jon Batiste and Celisse. ________________________ The House of the Rising Sun Traditional
There is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God, I know I'm one
My mother was a tailor She sewed my new blue jeans My father was a gamblin' man Down in New Orleans
Now the only thing a gambler needs Is a suitcase and a trunk And the only time he's satisfied Is when he's all drunk
Oh mother, tell your children Not to do what I have done Spend your lives in sin and misery In the House of the Rising Sun
Well, I got one foot on the platform The other foot on the train I'm goin' back to New Orleans To wear that ball and chain
Well, there is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God, I know I'm one

It's a relationship you can't describe in a word. To simply call it friendship isn't quite right. [...] It's impossible to describe it in a word, but it's a very strong bond. Lelouch as a kid, Lelouch in school, Lelouch as Zero -- only Suzaku sees all of it. Kallen, Nunnally, C.C., even -- none of them sees all of [Lelouch]. Playing together, running away, living, killing each other, even the knowledge of their having killed their own fathers. In terms of revealing who they are, only these two are completely naked. This is probably why the two of them were able to team up in the end.
Ōkouchi Ichirō in an interview for Continue vol. 42 (translation by Celiss Galvea)
