You entering a trace and emerging with an age list of (I presume) every FE that you’ve ever played. It happens. I get it. (I do have to point out that Saizo and Kaze are twins, so maybe we split the difference on their estimates? 25? 26?)

Mostly however I am going to be thinking about the 13-year-olds tier. There is such powerful energy there. I don’t know what’s going to happen if you put the three of them in the same room, but I know it will be happening, and there is no force on all the continents that could stop them if they put their mind to something.

Lachesis - Amber (I figured partnering Lachesis with someone who looks, but acts nothing like her bother would be incredibly funny.)

Panette - Innes & Joshua (Honestly I just had the idea of Panette using Joshua and Innes’s weapons in a completely different style than what they were used to and thought comedic shenanigans could ensue)

Etie - Askr Trio (Etie uses a bow, and the Trio give her each a unique weapon, so she’d be able to have a lot of coverage)

Can I start by saying how much of a missed opportunity IS had when they did Book 3 I just realized a whole bunch of stuff that would make it so much better.

Don't get me wrong: Book 3 is my favorite of the six (excluding Seven, which isn't even halfway finished). But I feel like it would be so much better if other Fire Emblem characters were involved.

According to the rules of the undead warriors, or whatever they're called, if you kill someone from another dimension, that person, presumably if they're dead in the killer's dimension, comes back to life in theirs.

Can you IMAGINE if IS decided to do alternate realities of different FE characters where they became death soldiers? Because I can think of a few that would fit that criterea.

Eldiegan, for example, could be one, possibly coming from a reality where he killed every player character. Sigurd and Lachesis, in particular.

This one is kind of dumb, but Celica could be a candidate too, maybe in a world where, in her mind-controlled state, she kills Alm.

I don’t think she’s the best option, but Florina is a nice idea. This is a bit based on my scenario while playing the game, but maybe in an alternate universe where she’s the sole survivor of Chapter Five.

I was kind of thinking of Soren at first, but now that I think about it, Mist would be a VERY interesting choice. in a world where Ike was also killed by the Black Knight. Her battle conversation practically screams potential.

I think Lucina could be great too based on the future past bad ending.

No shit Dmitri, do you even need to ask why? I would choose the Silver Snow version to make things more interesting. With him regretting his decisions.

Can you imagine what they would all have to go through?

Eldiegan, having to relive his trauma, wanting to kill his best friend and sister.

Celica, being too grief-stricken to even strike at Alm.

Florina, being a bit more confident, wanting to kill Lyn, the woman she looked up to.

Mist would possibly blame Ike for never involving her when battling the Black Knight, saying that was likely the reason he died.

Lucina having to kill the future sheperds possibly even tempting to kill her own father and mother.

And Dmitri would still blame the others at fault for his suffering, wanting to kill Edelgard.

And I can’t even BEGIN to describe the interactions they would have with their own selves.

Lukas grits his teeth, fingernails gouging into palms as Lachesis' healing magic continues to manipulate flesh and bone back to its proper place. Weapons imbued with magic are a rarity back home, and the soldier wielding a 'Flame Lance' proved to be quite the foe. Lukas managed to kill him in the end, but the wounds he sustained are severe and needed immediate attention from a healer.

Cauterized flesh turns raw once more as the burns heal. Lukas can't help the soft, shuddering whimper that escapes his lips. And yet he returns to Lachesis' question, desperate for the distraction. "The castle is teeming with them. Celica has never met a kitten she didn't want to adopt into the royal family. In their absence, I would have a... ah.... a cluster of those little princes and princesses pawing at my feet, demanding food and attention. Even now I can hear them, meowing at the top of their lungs..."

As he speaks, the healing spell does its work. It's not until Lachesis raises his hand and kisses his calloused palms that he realizes the agony has mostly subsided. Pain remains, but he will fight another day. Lukas gives her a warm, grateful smile, "Thank you for all that you do."

Admittedly after SoV, I'm overall positive about a Genealogy remake. Worst case scenario, Genealogy exists and we will compare the two. People already look to Gaiden because it ironically has a more empowering representation of Celica than Echoes did, entirely by accident.

Like no matter what, the original’s still gonna be around for people to play, so the real interesting thing is seeing what they do with it (which is why remakes that are just full recreations of the original are boring and suck *glares at BDSP*). I’m broadly just curious how they would handle the decision to change certain things

Don't mind me, just felt like word-vomiting some general predictions for Heroes coming up.

Getting the upcoming summer banner out of the way first before silhouettes in a few hours prove me totally wrong -- we know that the harmonic lead should be Engage (unsurprisingly), and my money is that the rest of the banner will be Archanea (shows up on summer semi-frequently but hasn't gotten any alts in a while), specifically a F!Alear/Marth harmonic (yeah yeah males in a harmonic, but it's the most logical pair, and we've been due Summer Marth). I also think Goldmary is very likely since she's probably a ways off of getting a base form but is popular + easy appeal for a summer banner, and bringing back Archanea for summer means they can close out all of the female avatars getting summer alts by throwing F!Kris on there, as well. The last two slots are a bit harder to predict and could be realistically any male or unpopular female Engage or Archanea character, but I'm going to put my bet on Diamant (popular, appealing, and follows up Ivy last year and Groom Alcryst earlier this year) and Clanne (easy Tempest slot, Japanese voice actor was recently used for Leonardo, and follows up Spring Framme) for a total line up of Harmonized F!Alear/Marth, 5-star Diamant, 5-star Goldmary, 4-star F!Kris, and Tempest Clanne.

The summer Tempest should also kick off our Book V Returns series, with the first character/alt from it on the New Heroes banner. History shows we will likely get 2 new characters (ally and enemy) and 2+ new alts; I think safe money is on Mama Jotun and a new sage, with either being in either slot (Eitri successor as ally fighting against Mama Jotun's attempted hostile takeover, or Mama Jotun as ally fighting against Eitri's new form), alongside Reginn and Dagr alts, maybe something for Fafnir or Nott -- we have seen a recurring theme of characters getting revived with Laegjarn, Fjorm, Eir twice, and Freyja, but I don't really see a justification for that plotline this time around (though I would have said the same thing for Freyja).

The July or September New Heroes banner should be our Solm banner, with probably Attuned Timerra (avoiding our third Arcane Lance or Bow for a bit), Fogado, Panette, and insta-demote Pandreo. I've seen a lot of people predicting both Pan siblings getting demoted, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they demoted Fogado (as the least popular royal by a wide margin) or just went Abyss and kept them all as 5-stars because Panette is such an easy and appealing godaxe candidate. Regardless, we'll get either Griss or Marni as the GHB. (Anyone else hoping for Okuma Yugo Griss?)

It's hard to say whether the August Special Heroes banner will stay teatime or if they'll bring in a new concept, but I will say that teatime feels like a good option for the overdue Valentia alts as well as being a good place to slot in Eitr, since she didn't get in for summer unlike Nifl and Ymir. I could see a Celica/Celine, 5-star Mae, 5-star Eitr, 4-star Louis, and Tempest Boey lineup, though that's heavily copium-influenced. The safest bets are definitely Celine and Louis, but Celine could easily be paired with any of Hortensia (full Engage lineup), Lachesis (Engage/Jugdral), Annette (Engage/3H), Eitr herself (Engage/Heroes), or others, or be a standalone 5-star while someone else gets the harmonic/duo, or they could ditch the teatime concept entirely. Not putting any money on any predictions here, but I'll hold onto my Celica/Mae/Boey cope.

I suspect Brave Alfonse in August will open the floodgates for more Tatsuhisa Suzuki alts now that he's back in the studio, specifically Resplendent and/or New Hero alt Berkut (alongside Rinea and some combination of Nuibaba/Jesse/Deen/Nomah), seasonal Ranulf and/or Tibarn slotted into some random banner (desert? maybe New Year's Ranulf since Nidhoggr handles Year of the Snake for us?), and a Heroes child banner featuring Young Alfonse come next April. For that banner, I could see a line-up of Duo Fjorm/Kiran (a la Mark/Lyn), 5-star Alfonse, 5-star Veronica, demote Sharena, and Tempest Anna or Eir. Another possibility would be a full Book I lineup with Duo Bruno/Alfonse, but I have a hard time seeing Alfonse backpacking especially to Bruno, and he's already gotten his duo lead.

Conversely to teatime, I do think September will hold onto its tribal theme and wrap up with Ice Tribe, just because it's such an easy banner to fill. Duo Felicia/Flora is free (and a modern version of Felicia's mage tank/adaptive damage and/or Flora's DC tank niches from their OG versions could be quite influential on the meta); an Ice Tribe Gunnthra could have been recorded alongside Fee the year prior; and other icy or ice-wielding characters like Ninian, Nils, Marianne, Bruno, Brunnya, Innes, etc. give a solid lineup.

Getting Felicia's voice actress in the studio also sets up the potential for Resplendent Felicia, Resplendent or random seasonal Oboro, and random seasonals for Brunnya (if not on the Ice Tribe banner) and Sue, all of whom I could see happening pretty shortly afterwards.

I do think we'll get another Ivy alt before the year is out, and my money is on December: either Legendary Ivy (taking the same slot as Azura, Celica, Lilina, F!Byleth, F!Shez, and Camilla before her) or Winter Ivy. I'd say her main competition for the December 8% slot is Emblem Lyn, who would also fit the current cycle of Emblem/Mythic/Legendary (though who knows how long IS will hold to that anyway). If that's the case, then a fully Engage winter lineup seems like the best bet to follow the 3H lords last year anyway -- I don't think it'll be all royals (especially if we do get Summer Diamant), but I could see Duo Lumera or Veyle with M!Alear (following up Summer F!Alear like Winter M!Robin, New Year's M!Corrin, and Halloween Sothis/M!Byleth before him) where either could be the lead, 5-star Ivy, 5-star the other of Lumera or Veyle, 5-star or 4-star Alfred (depending if they want to go no demotes like last year), and Tempest Vander.

I saw someone predict a Double Mythic Hero banner this month to knock out both Eikthyrnir and Heidrun, followed by Hraesvelgr in probably October and Laeradr/Nidhoggr sharing in November; that makes the most sense to me given the amount of units left to get through, and I don't really see them skipping over anyone this time a la Njordr/Elm/Fafnir/Freyr (all five are relatively well-received, actively involved in the plot, and all but Heidrun have been/should be fought, and Heidrun's definitely not getting skipped). That does mean we're probably getting no more mythics from regular games this year (rip Athos), nor Fafnir a la Freyr last year (maybe on the next Fallen banner buddy), but that's sort of a given at this point even if Eikthyrnir and/or Laeradr get the chop. August should be a red legendary (M!Shez or Diamant?) and September should be a blue or green emblem (Lucina or Corrin?).

Hmm Ayra/Lachesis and Celica/Lachesis.......

Ayra/Lachesis:

When did I start shipping it: Pretty much as soon as we’d recruited them both. Lachesis learned swordplay from Ayra. She probably also learned a few other things. 

My thoughts: There are a lot of good wlw ships in FE4 gen 1 but I think this one is my favorite. Ayra and Lachesis have great potential for chemistry even though they don’t interact very much in-game. I just wish they actually… y’know… did interact more. 

What makes me happy about them: Ayra and Lachesis are both kind of “alone” in the world. Lachesis especially doesn’t really have anywhere to go even after they win (if only). It’s nice to imagine them finding comfort and companionship in each other. Lachesis doesn’t have much else to live for, really. 

What makes me sad about them: Can I just say “Belhalla” and that’s good enough? 

Things done in fanfic that annoy me: Hey uh I’m a bad girl and don’t actually read a whole lot of fanfic, lol. I imagine it would be difficult to annoy me as long as you wrote the characters… y’know… in character. There are a lot of different dynamics you could write for them that’d still be really fun. 

Things I look for in fanfic: This is more of a general thing, but in fanfic I like for power dynamics to be maintained to some extent (assuming it’s an AU), and I like to see personal growth and soft fluffy intimate time in equal measure. I’ll have to go looking for ayra/lach so I can actually, like, form opinions. 

Who I would be comfortable with them ending up with, if not each other: I think Lachesis can comfortably court any of the gen 1 princesses and I’d be happy with it - Ayra and Deirdre being my favorites, Ethlyn just behind them. Lachesis/Finn is cute and definitely worthy of respect. On the flip side, even though I do really adore Lachesis’ dynamic with Eldigan, I think it’s important (for obvious reasons) that they don’t end up together. Just… don’t be tempted. Don’t push for it. 

My happily ever after for them: You have to unravel the entire story of FE4 just to even give the a *chance* at a happily ever after. But… if I was being self-indulgent… Ayra and Lachesis survive Belhalla and flee to Leonster together, rehabilitate while helping Finn raise and protect Leif, and then carry Leif through Thracia before joining the battle against Loptyr in gen 2. Also: Nanna and Larcei still exist because of literal magic. Lesbians can have kids too don’t @ me. 

Who is big spoon/little spoon: I mean, you can go either way and it’s great, but I do think Lachesis is more likely to take the little spoon role than Ayra. 

What is their favorite non-sexual activity: I don’t know that they have one. They just love spending time with each other, enjoying that they have one another… enjoying the time they have, aware of how close they were to losing it. Ayra probably prefers quieter and more thoughtful moments and Lachesis probably prefers more energetic social activities. 

Celica/Lachesis:

When did I start shipping it: Some ship choices are just spur-of-the moment for Cinders, while others are carefully selected from several options - but all of them are thoroughly analyzed and structured before I start writing. In this case, I knew I wanted to ship somebody with Lachesis but wasn’t sure who - we went through viable royalty options and Celica’s name stood out because I was playing SoV at the time. The more I watched Celica close herself off and sink into fear and despair the more potential I realized the pair had, and… well, now it’s one of my favorite ships I’ve ever written. 

My thoughts: Spoilers for Cinders I guess, but part of what I love about Celica and Lachesis is that they do really have good thematic synergy with each other - incredibly intense survivor’s guilt and a feeling of powerlessness, with subtle differences in the way it expresses - but they’re not healthy for each other. They’re a relationship that’s not only comforting in an immediate sense but also presents an opportunity to tell a story about how hard it is to make a relationship work between two critically depressed people. 

What makes me happy about them: I love the way that their strengths play off of one another. Lachesis knows how to take care of herself and can share that with Celica, which makes for good fluffiness (and a good relationship with Celica’s friends!); Celica knows how to express her feeling honestly when she really wants to, and that allows her to break through Lachesis’ aloofness and deliver some really earnest heart-to-heart moments that Lachesis would struggle to have with other characters. 

What makes me sad about them: Maybe not quite the answer you were expecting, but I LOVE that every time Celica casts Ragnarok, there’s serious potential for a Belhalla flashback and for Lachesis to panic over it. That is a wound that I don’t think ever completely heals.

Who I would be comfortable with them ending up with, if not each other: Lachesis has a lot of great options in her own game (as previously discussed). Celica isn’t really as lucky; I don’t think Celica really has any great options in SoV - I don’t like her with Alm, I don’t like her with Mae, you could make a case for some weird crack ships like Mathilda or Clair I guess - I think the only SoV ship I could really get behind is like… Celica/Genny. And even that is fraught with some weirdness because Genny’s age is not super clear. I just really dunno.

Who is big spoon/little spoon: It depends a lot on where they’re at in their own personal character growth. Right now, it depends even on who’s having a bad day. Lachesis is less likely to admit needing comfort, to be fair, so she is probably more big spoon on average.

What is their favorite non-sexual activity: I think they really like being around Celica’s friends. When it’s just the two of them together, I think they like cuddling and reading. They’re very physical - not just sexually (though definitely there, too) but just because it’s very reassuring to have their partner close, and they get anxious and moody when they’re separated for very long. That’s kind of what happens when your primary fears and trauma revolve around losing your friends.
