Hero Partner Week 2024

I guess this Prompt made me change my mind about the post for today. When I saw that, I instantly decided to participate with my Explorers of Sky Duo, Gwladys and Tonbee, which is still my favourite game of the franchise to this day ! ♥ But since I coulnd't post them separately, I put them all in one post instead (if only I knew earlier... I'm so dumb...)

Day 1 / May 19th : First Meeting

After leaving the entrance of the Guild without being able to enter out of fear (again), Tonbee decided to go to the beach to see the beautiful dusk and bubbles dancing at the sunset. He will there see an unconscious Pokémon near the ocean. Heavily worried, he goes to check on this little Pokémon that seems to be a female Eevee.

Day 2 / May 20st : Evolution

The Duo, who was at first unable to evolve, finally has the chance to see if they can reach a new form. They head to the Luminous Spring, with an immense hope in their chest. Surprisingly, Tonbee could reach a new stage of evolution. Gwladys witnessed the pretty impressive Evolution of her teammate Tonbee. She could barely recognize him, not because of his evolution, but rather how his personality, determination and bravery changed for the better (This scene takes place post-game).

Day 3 / May 21st : Morning / Night

The more they spend time with each other, the more the Duo realize how they complete each other : "Tonbee is the Morning Light that warms Gwladys' memory up", and "Gwladys is the Quiet Night that helped Tonbee reach his Dreams".

Day 4 / May 22nd : Hidden Land

Gwladys and Tonbee teamed up with Grovyle, Gwladys' Pokémon friend from the future who tried to stop Dusknoir and Primal Dialga from paralyzing the World. After retrieving all the Time Gears, they reach the Hidden Land with the help of Lapras, the only Pokémon that knew where it was and could reach it without any difficulties. When they finally set their feet on these lands, they knew they could not head back once their duty is fulfilled.

Day 5 / May 23rd : Favorite Scene

On their way to reach the Time Tower, the Duo remembers all the moments they spend together, good or bad. The best moment they had ever experienced was when they witnessed this mesmerizing scene at Fogbound Lake, one of the 3 lakes that had a Time Gear in it, and protected by Uxie. This moment will forever stay in their heart. ♥

Day 6 / May 24th : Farewell

She knew. Ever since they last faced Dusknoir and Grovyle sacrificed himself to bring Dusknoir back to the future, Gwladys knew that her fate was sealed. When they will bring the 5 Time Gears to the top of Time Tower, she knew she would disappear, as she is part of the future just like Grovyle, Dusknoir and Celebi. She was afraid, she didn't want to leave her friend Tonbee, but she had to. It was for the sake of the World. So when the time came, she told him everything that was on her mind. She told him that he changed her life for the better, and that she will never forget him, even if she disappears. Tonbee watched as tears were falling down his cheeks : he was grateful for everything, but he didn't wanted to say Goodbye, but had to...

Day 7 / May 25th : Previous Prompt : Crossover

They may be strong, determined, brave, but they can have some funny moments together too. After becoming a gracious Glaceon and an intimidating Luxray, Gwladys and Tonbee became one of the strongest Explorers team ever made. They share some moments together too, and one of them is cosplaying of some sorts. In here they are cosplaying as Grey Fullbuster and Laxus Dreyar from Fairy Tail, because they basically have the same power.

My Dream Pokémon Game: Pokémon Contest Legends

Despite the fact that since Ultra Sun and Moon I think Pokémon has mostly been on a decline serving up fairly poor games, especially in the main line entries, Pokémon still has a special place in my heart. So I wanted to talk about what spin off game I would love to see happen in the series.

An element really hyped up in the anime is Pokémon Contests giving full ass contest arcs, this would trickle into the manga as well and in my imagination Contests were a big deal in the world. For me they were always this nice element where you weren't having animals beat each other up but preforming with an animal and that felt very different and very sweet. So this game revolves around Pokemon Contests expanding them into a full fledged game rather than a side event.

Customization

This is the name of the game, this game is all about showing off and feeling like you really are connecting with your favorite Pokémon. Taking the cute mini games of the series and elevating them to not a half ass side show but a fleshed out part of the Pokémon world. Having a full roster of lovely outfits for you and your Pokémon to share. Dressing up Pokémon and yourself was such a massive feature of contests in the Pokémon anime and is a long time requested feature of many fans which has only happened a few times. Cosplay Pikachu was given a limited set of outfits, ash hat pikachus exist to give Pikachu a little accessory, and Partner Pikachu and Eevee were both given several outfits in Let's Go. So I think it's about time the dress up was elevated both for trainers and Pokémon.

Your Pokémon and you preform together in contests showing off your style and kicking butt at bringing the elements of contests together as you aim to be the Contest Master. The Pokémon outfits could work with compatibility frames and work on body type molds so some outfits are for some types of bodies like serpentine bodies, quadruped, humanoid, etc.

Clothing should be totally ungender locked your performers and performers get fucky with gender some times. A lot of human outfits can be meant to match with Pokémon but also should have some fun costumes, references to older trainers in the series, and some modern Harajuku deals to really sell the fashionable customization elements.

Customization could be bolstered like in Animal Crossing by allowing people to upload patterns and designs and really allowing a player's agency to go above and beyond for these contests to create truly dazzling and unexpected performances.

Pokémon Roster

The game mixes things up breaking away from your normal choice of starters by instead leading you chose from one of three Mythical Pokémon who were amazed by your performance getting to chose between Victini, Manaphy, and Celebi as your starting contest Pokémon. Instead equally fun would be a mystery Dungeon esc personality quiz that results in you getting suggested one Pokémon that fits your personality but the ability to instead chose any you like after from a selection of Pokémon. You could even go with just picking between Eevee and Pikachu the series two mascots given Let's Go gave them several adorable outfits already and they are extremally iconic starters most people wouldn't mind not even evolving.

I think ideally this game could work with the existing models from Pokémon Unite along with creating new models of similar qualities since the game already has lots of outfits to dress up your mons in but obviously the 59 final evos with 54ish [not totally sure] Pokémon from the evo lines making a total of 103 Pokémon already model in the style. Double that to like 200 and bam that's a respectable roster for a Pokémon game. If you were getting frisky you could go with 300 even. Add some contest staples from the anime and games like Altaria, Milotic and Seviper and you got a classic roster that is sure to hit generations of people in the nostalgia bones.

Pokémon Catching

Catching Pokémon would work similarly to Legends Arceus with it being quick and easy to throw balls at Pokémon and mostly being a human vs mon kinda vibe but with the ability to send out your Pokémon to help support you in catching Pokémon. The battle mechanics are not the focus and instead the contest abilities simply help you put pressure on Pokémon. You'd have dex like in the legends game with tasks to complete that progress and give you rewards.

This could bring in a classic element, shiny hunting, and more to broaden the games audience and still allow for the really personal feeling of teams in Pokémon games.

That said I could see a method of catching Pokémon that is instead Pokémon basically willingly joining up with you after wild performances but perhaps a system like that and a system like Legends Arecus both could co exist.

Pokémon Raising

Pokémon can progress through capturing Pokémon, entering contesting, clearing dex challenges, and pokefood. Like in legends arecus and go releasing Pokémon can provide you with food to feed your Pokémon to raise their contest stats taking a bit of the old Pokeblock system but adding a new twist to it. In addition other Pokefood could be bought in shops and stuff and sharing a meal with your Pokemon can raise their stats and your relationship together up.

I think taking the existing bounding mechanics and shifting them to work outside of a battle oriented context will be less annoying for the hard core end of players who feel it is breaking their immersion in a Pokémon battle since in a contest feelings, bounds, and relationship all make perfect sense.

Narrative

Narratively I would love for the game to have more social elements and be less focused on saving the world although it could still be a factor, it be silly fun to stop the world from ending by everyone putting on the best Pokémon contest ever. I do think the stakes of just aiming to be the best Contest Master are good enough though letting the player kind of pace their own side goals.

It wouldn't hurt for a Pokémon game to have dating sim elements but if they wanted to skew the game younger then like ya know that could be cut but this is my dream game so fuck it, it has to have dating sim elements and you only be gay in it, my dream game, no straights allowed Pokémon.

Closing Thoughts

There are plenty of areas I could have went into more detail on but this is already fairly long and it was just really like a little idea I wanted to spill out of my mouth after months of thinking about it. Let me know what you think and what you would like to see in a game like this.

Shortly Before Arriving In Twisted Wonderland

Before arriving in the world of Twisted Wonderland Yuri was Sycamore's assistant, she was often traveling to do research, in one of her missions she went back in time thanks to the help of the legendary pokémon Celebi, however, there was a problem when she was brought back to her timeline taking with her pokémon from the past, both Sycamore and Yuri agreed that she had to bring those pokémon back to the right timeline, the problem is that Celebi was tired after that time jump, it took it a few months to fully recover, so Yuri continued to do research, taking care for her pokémon and do some pokémon battles, she was arguing heavily with James, a friend of her, when Sycamore called her to tell her that Celebi was ready to bring everyone home, that discussion left her in a very bad mood, Sycamore noticed it immediately and asked her if everything was okay but Yuri didn't want to talk about it and aggressively asked him not to interfere, the discussion ended there, everything was ready but when Celebi activated its powers to make her come back something went wrong and it is at that moment that our dear protagonist found herself inside a coffin that would have been the beginning of a new adventure like she had never done before.

"Yeah, I can handle two illusions!" Xe stops to think for a moment, and there is a pink flash of light before a Cutiefly has taken Celebi's place. The "Cutiefly" squeaks in surprise and looks down at her own thin little bug legs, but Illanero yips as xyr tail pops out from xyr own illusion. "Um... oops. That's a problem."

"Cosplay," Urbosa says suddenly, and Link puts a hand over his barely concealed grin.

"Huh?"

"Cosplay," she repeats as she takes out the cat ear headband from Link's pouch. "Just pass it off as part of the cosplay."

"Huh." Illanero takes the cat ears and wedges them on in front of xyr hat. "I like these!"

"Cutiefly" and Rotom giggle, and Rotom ends the video.]

There are so many interesting takes. Typing, Attacks, Abilities, Rarity, Evolution.

Why are some Pokemon dual typed and others not? Why some only after evolution? If two Floragato are trained alongside each other, both treated the exact same way, but only one evolves into Meowscarda, would the other still not gain the Dark Type?

Why do some Pokemon only learn certain attacks, or don't learn others? Magikarp is a fish, why shouldn't it know attacks like Aqua Jet or Watergun?

What exactly determines if a Pokemon is a Legendary or not? Entei's dex entry says every time it roars, a new Entei is born. In the 4th movie, we've seen countless Celebi, so it can't be if there's only one. And if we go by strength, then some of them are still outmatched by other, non legendary Pokemon.

How do wild Kadabra, Haunter or Machoke evolve if we need to trade them once they're caught? Or wild Galarian Yamask. Why do the evolution stones only effect some Pokemon, not all of them? Did the stone evolution like Bellossom or Vileplum just not exist before the stones came to light? Or did Pokemon, with time and more exposure to the stones, loose their ability to evolve without them?

SOOOO MANY TOPICS!! God I got my own questions too, like why do some abilities completely disappear and get replaced by a new, unrelated one? Bagon's Sheer Force is a brilliant ability that they completely lose once they're a Shellgon in favor of Overcoat, and somehow it becomes Moxie when it's a Salamence. WHAT??? And then it's normal ability, Rock Head, also gets lost once it becomes a Salamence for Intimidate, when you would THINK that a fucking SALAMENCE is INTIMIDATING ENOUGH.

Oh, and I have THOUGHTS on Legendary Pokémon!!! There's no way there's only a singular of every Legendary, otherwise we wouldn't have Tobias, or a reason for Battle Facilities to outright ban legendary Pokémon. Legends Arceus gives us some interesting ideas, like the fact that it gives you a fragment of itself rather than the Real Deal. Celebi is interesting, too, because you can't know if all the Celebi are the same Celebi— time travel makes it possible for there to be multiple of the exact same Celebi to exist at once! But also, we DO know there's other Celebi because of Explorers of Sky, PINK CELEBI. So, is it that there's just multiple, or it's the same Pokémon split into multiple fragments of itself, or is it that there's offspring of the original, while the main Legendary is the True Holder of the Legendary status?

And what is up with priority moves? Why do they completely disregard a Pokémon's natural speed? Is there more strain in using priority moves when your speed is lower? Is there a way to measure that?

Also why is it that Magikarp and Feebas are essentially almost the exact same Pokémon with their stats switched? Why is it that Feebas' move pool, specifically its TM move pool, INSANE in comparison to Magikarp? What is it about Magikarp that makes it incapable of doing the same moves as Feebas despite them being nearly identical?

My personal favorite question. WHY IS THERE ONLY A SINGULAR MOVE THAT DOES DUAL-TYPE DAMAGE? Why the FUCK is Hawlucha the only Pokémon capable of dealing dual-type damage?! Except, of course, Cosplay Pikachu, who is apparently a FREAK OF NATURE???

Jirachi: I mean...how would we even know about it? If it does exist then it's definitely not like in the stories

Deoxys: Technically classified as Mythical, but there's a lot of debate about whether that classification is accurate.

Manaphy and Phione: There's certainly a lot of documentation about it, and there's scientific debate on whether it should be classed as Mythical.

Shaymin: There's documentation from members of the Galaxy Team proving its existence.

Victini: Everyone in Unova knows Victini is real. It was found in a building in Liberty Garden by Team Plasma and then caught by the hero who stopped them.

Keldeo: Champion Gloria of Galar caught it, because of course she did. That girl has enough Legendary Pokémon to make Team Plasma look like a bunch of cosplay nerds.

Meloetta: complete cryptid, but why would it look like an idol? I know a lot of Pokémon have traits resembling human inventions, clothing, and fashion, but that's because either the Pokémon is copying it or the other way around. Meloetta is supposedly ancient, so the idea that the image of idols was modeled after Meloetta just seems strange to me.

Genesect: We have Team Plasma's records. They made five of the damn things before Ghetsis canned the project in favour of using the Legendary Dragons.

Diance: I fully believe that a Carbink could mutate into a Better Carbink.

Hoopa: Apparently they found its wormholes, so we know it's real, we just don't know why it's Like That.

Volcanion: just a cryptid

Magearna: Yeah the records support it.

Marshadow: pure cryptid

Zeraora: ?????

Meltan: Scientifically documented. Its existence is fact.

Trickyshipping Time Travel AU

I always imagined Lyra being somehow related to Celebi so ofc with her latest Sygna suit in Pokemon Masters, I HAD to draw her with Johto's Dragon prince! Y'all have no idea how long I've been trying to draw Lyra in Celebi themed outfits... My tablet is full of wip where I tried to draw Lance x Lyra as some sort of dragon x fairy motif and heRe We ARE!

Here's my drawing of a Trickyshipping time travel AU where Lyra goes back in time to meet young Lance ❤️ I like to think that she chooses to travel back in time to get a glance at those she traveled with, including Silver's canon story in HGSS. Pokemon Special / Adventures has a special place in my heart, so I'd love if Lyra would travel back to see Lance in Viridian Forest still practicing on channeling his powers. Perhaps he would've fell for her even back then without him knowing they would meet once again later on.
