Shout out to CS magazine for the feature of one of my photos in their February issue. I was not able to find the print version but I don't hang in the Gold Coast much so I had to settle for the online version. Ironically enough a couple who just commissioned me for large prints for their house had their charity event covered too. It's still nice to have a life outside my day job trying to figure out how to get people to buy more stuff. Standing in for Slater - This photo my girlfriend at the time took almost 20 years to the day. We were trying to be creative in our own way. I had a work project recently where we used old photos of ourselves to tell our story to our coworkers and create a bond. When this photo was taken I could not run from people coming up all the time to me to tell me how much I looked like Christian Slater. The first time it happened was in 1989 when the movie Heathers came out. I was coming home to Omaha from my first semester at U of Nebraska in Lincoln going out to parties and when I walked into rooms everyone had asked me if I saw the movies Heathers to which I replied no. Well you look just like the lead actor in it. And so it started and would not die down for 10 years. For many years it pissed me off as I wanted to be my own individual. Now I still hear it occasionally and have learned to embrace it. I'm happy to say I've never been accused of sexual harassment and I kept my hair. Streaming on the way to Work - This is not a current shot. I took this in 2010 and this use to be my sight on very cold days where you could see the plumes of smoke hanging in the air from the Fisk coal power plant on the east end of Pilsen. It was finally closed at the end of 2012. This plant was cited in a study by Harvard University to dramatically increase the rates of asthma in younger children in Pilsen. The title was based on the movement of the train but also on the riders who were streaming media as they streamed by.
