Rose cast an eye over the books spilled across the floor, one eyebrow barely raising. “Yes, it all seems to be quite…meticulously placed.”

"Oh, go fuck yourself. I’m just looking for - I mean, I need to find - look, I have to figure a thing out, so unless you know everything there is about commencing a relationship with a giant douchehead while vacillating like a moron-" he cut himself off abruptly, seeing the wide catlike grin spreading across Rose’s face. "No, no, don’t you pull your tentacle-fuck therapy bullshit on me, it’s not what you goddamn think."

"Really, Karkat. Because I would assume I could be an excellent resource for you, being the foremost expert in both human psychology and troll-human relationships that paradox space has to offer."

"Don’t fucking try it."

She slid up next to him, deftly pulling a slim novel from the shelf before he could snatch it away. “I’d venture a guess that you’re rather hung up on the formalities of such a relationship, and finding a framework for it, instead of simply taking action - or perhaps to avoid taking action, hmm?” She patted him on the shoulder, ignoring his dumbstruck, outraged expression. “He’s a human. Lose the troll framework entirely and just see what comes of it. And Dave will never make the first move; I believe you’ll have to surprise him.”

She glided out of the room, smug as a cat that got the tweetbeast, tossing a “Good luck!” over her shoulder and waving her stolen smut in a jaunty goodbye.

If he didn’t have to talk to anybody maybe they wouldn’t figure out he was a giant freak who spent half his time writing raps that turned into letters to his bro, who couldn’t be around people without going way the hell too far, especially Nubhorns McFuckTwit, because what kind of cool kid starts getting the pants feelings for some loud stubby asshole who’s biting your cape and wrestling you over a pen?
