who: Hiro @stelliforms
where: Post office
Carleigha seemed to be running around quite a bit that day, thankful it was her day off and wouldn't have to trek to the library on top of it all, as much as she loved the place. Her appointment with the cardiologist had left her on edge, the worry of a forthcoming surgery tainting her mind. The post office was just one of the many errands she was working through and as she stepped inside spotting that familiar man standing in line just ahead of her. She gulped faintly as he spotted her, unsure how to react. "I..I can come back another time if this is too awkward"

Carleigha knew he was right. Denver may be a large city but it was still a small world. In truth, she wished for an out, to cowardly run but she'd been cowardly enough when it came to Hiro. She knew she needed to face him at some point. He deserved a better explanation, better than the way she'd pushed him away in her fear and grief after her diagnosis. A diagnosis he didn't even know about. She'd been firm in her own reasonings to herself, that she didn't want to watch him worry for her like her family had all her life, didn't want to be burden on him if and when her heart troubles got worse. Her reasonings were sound in her mind, but what she'd actually said was less so. "No no, its fine." She shook her head vehemently. Offering him a soft smile as she shifted on her feet in line. "It's good to see you, how have you been?"
It seemed a tad unfair that for a person who hardly received parcels, the one time he did Hiro wasn't home to sign for it. He had half a thought to ignore it but quickly ruled that out, what if it had been important? Or from his family since they were prone to send things without forewarning. Patience was not his virtue and it showed in the way he began to feel restlessness rise at the slow moving line, fingers tapping on the side of his leg as he resisted the urge to leave. But a look did go to the exit, thinking to come back later when it was less busy- oh. Hiro did a double take when he saw her, urge rising for both wanting to leave but also not. "It's fine, Carly," he said eventually, "We're bound to run into each other at some point, can't help that." A beat later, he somewhat hesitantly added, "But uh, I can go if you think this'll be weird?"
