do most people not know about permanent hair dye
#i feel like a lot of people I've met have been like ''oh wow the pink in your hair is really staying that's so cool''#and i think they only know about semi-permanent hair dye#cause permanent hair dye doesn't just. wash out in a few washes.#semi-permanent dye washes out kinda quick#and that's mostly what's being sold in stores (i mean not all. but a lot of it.)#i personally fucking hate semi-permanent dye. it's so annoying to go through the process of dying your hair only for it to wash out quick#the only time we did semi-permanent dye on my hair was when i was in first grade TwT#but when i started getting my hair done at my current colorist we just went fully permanent#it's better for me since i like my hair to be a fun color 24/7#but also recently I've gotten better at actually keeping the permanent dye from fading so it'll be nice and bright for longer#cause permanent dye + bleaching ur hair can get a bit expensive#even with our family and friends discount we get

Could midnight mumbo temp dye his hair? What about nail polish?
You mentioned his appearance is permanently what it was when he died, and any changes will be gone relatively quickly. But like, what above surface changes?
Could he do that temporary hair dye? The stuff that comes out in the shower. Like I know his hair is dark, but still, a navy or maroon? And, in the same vein, could bdubs?
What about nail polish, because that’s similar? Could mumbo jumbo make his claws even more extreme with acrylics?
These are just a few of the burning questions I have on this topic of temporary appearance alterations
Mumbo can make temporary changes yes! He can use cosmetic stuff, it's if he tries to like... bleach his hair (thus permanently removing the color) that his Vampire magic will go "oh no that's Incorrect sir" and reverts the changes (ahhh magic). If it will cause a physical change to him, like permanently altering his hair or nails, it won't stick, but if it's like. Nail polish or temporary/wash-out hair dye that doesn't physically change anything, he can use them. Mind you idk how well temporary hair dye works on pitch-black hair but ya know-
#ask#Midnight series#always a fun question to ask :D#it boils down to 'if it covers its fine if it alters it won't stick' rly

My hair is extremely long. I think if I grow it another inch it will be lower than my shirt. It is a short skirt tho. My hair is like 30 something inches. I really want to dye it pink but I’m scared the dye will kill my hair
Okay so my hair is actually pink right now. Now the actual pink dye won't harm your hair as long as it's semi permanent and doesn't stain. Trust me you want a dye that will wash out in a few weeks. Dyes that stain are a pain to work with. For me the best dyes are lime crime, manic panic, and ion. arctic fox is okay but the undertones make using them hard. Also good dye Young that's in my hair now but I heard the pink stains but it hasn't for me cause I dilute it. Now the damaging part is lightening your hair for the right base. You can use bleach or permanent high lift dye. I personally prefer highlift dye. But only because my hair can't handle bleach. But a permanent dye is perfect if your hair is porous, lighter or thin. . But if you have stubborn thick dark hair bleach might be the best. Now what shade of pink are you looking for. Hot pink you don't have to lift your hair too light like when it's still a really brassy orangey color you can do hot pink. Medium tone bubblegum pink like if it's yellowy then bubble gum pink would work. Pastel pink the hardest pink, your hair has to be platinum blonde. I've only achieved this color three times. So even without bleach it's achievable just takes patience. As long as you condition your hair, don't over process it, take good care of it, your hair should be fine. But if you can, finding a stylist will really help preserve the health of your as well.

Here is why you should give a fuck:
Bangs take years to grow back out. People always think Bangs are this cute, easy thing you can do at home and won't be a huge thing. They are not. Even if you are stuck inside long enough that you can just go to a hairdresser to correct your failed attempt at them, they are a commitment you might not wanna make while stuck at home in a questionable mental state.
Bleach if you don't know what the fuck you are doing can literally cost you a fuck ton of money once you can go out again and need to do damage control because you destroyed your own confidence. It is not easy to bleach your hair at home. The process is very complicated and can not only permanently damage your hair, but also turn out horribel enough that you need to go to the hair dresser after the quarentine. That will then become a color correction and cost significantly more then when you went there in the first place.
Depending on how bad you did that can be several hundreds of dolars. As in, I have heared of people paying like 500 bucks more to fix their hair because they thought it was cute and funny to try it at home only to realize, yes, there is a reason hairdressers go to school for this.
The reason for that is that people often do not understand how to apply bleach properly which causes them to miss sports, not apply it evenly or apply it over box dye.
That means the hairdresser has to apply foil to every individual spot at diffrent time interfals to try and fix it.
That can take several hours and is serious labour for any hairdresser no matter how skilled. Some might even just flat out refuse to do it and tell you to go bald.
Speaking of, frying your hair and having to go bald because it's too damaged and constantly falls out is indeed another huge risk. And before you start. No the few month you will stay at home will most likely not be enough time to grow your hair out to a degree where you won't feel bad once you go out.
You might think you aren't the emotionally attached to your hair. But turst me. You most likely are.
Haircuts are a similar situation. In theory you can do it at home, several people do, but again. There is a reason people go to school for this.
It's a lot less costly then a bleach fail to correct though so there is that. But depending on how much you fuck up it can be pretty expensive still and more expensive as when you went to the sallon with your normal hair.
If you want to see more reasons why that's just generally a bad idea look op Brad Mondo's hair dresser react series. He has reacted to a lot of at home bleach attempts and haircuts that went wrong and it often left the people who attempted it with emotional and financial distress.
You do not want that during or right after this quarentaine.
Here are things you *can* do without having to fear blowing a hole in your finances during a enconomically uncertain time:
-Color. If you already have blond hair you can simply use a demi permanent color on your hair. Look up what level your hair is and get a color on the same level or lower and it will look fine. Demi permanent color also doesn't damage the hair, it just disposes color into it and doesn't lift any. It's also not permanent unlike bleach, so it will wash our after a while.
-Try hair tutorials. You ever wanted to learn how to do that cute hair style? Now you have the time.
-Use hair masks and other hair care products. You would be surprised how diffrent it can make your hair.
-Wigs. Wigs are a way to try out new stuff without messing up your own hair. A decent wig probably will cost you about the same as the supplies you need to bleach your hair at home anyways and it has way less commitment then bleaching or cutting your hair.
all those posts like “don’t give yourself bangs during quarantine” “don’t dye your hair” “don’t shave your head” are honestly bullshit this is the Perfect time you’re literally not allowed to leave the house for god knows how long do something crazy who gives a fuck
