#cause if cait did exactly what vi did then vi actually PAID for her wrongdoings (towards jinx)

not the same thing tho. starting with what led to the hits:
vi was a teen, she just saw her whole family being murdered by her sister when she told her to not get involved. she hit the one who was responsible for the deaths in the moment of said deaths cait was an adult who lost her mother and went on hunting season. she hit the one who didn't let her shoot in the vague direction of a child in her revenge rage
and i mean yeah adults can also loose their minds over their parents being murdered but still not the same at all, vi was a kid in the state of initial shock, cait was an adult some time after initial shock happened
then what happens right after, also completely different:
vi looks at her hand and immediately regrets what she just did. she goes away but never intended to actually leave powder, she was going to come back after cooling down a bit. she was going to rush to her the moment powder was in danger cait just leaves and never comes back. or she maybe does idk it's hard to tell with s2 what happened and what didn't. but as for now looks like canon implies she never came back
then when time passes:
vi is in prison and unable to go for powder. when she gets out of prison, she kinda implies she would help cait, but instead first thing she does - tries to find her sister. well, okay, to be fair, the first thing she does is eat but right after she looks for info about powder. finding her is for sure high on her priority list
cait is um rebounding or whatever
then there're their first meetings after the hits:
vi is really happy they reunited, rushes to her sister, hugs her, also her first words (after she calls her sister by the name twice) are literally:
Tumblr media
then she adds that she didn't intend on leaving her there for good, explains why she didn't come back when cait sees vi she um says vi looks bad. i guess (and i don't care she hit vi again, she was on look out, and i won't cherrypick on the possibility to understand who are you sliding towards in the time she did, cause vi looked different also the scene had to look cool, it's whatever. still, vi is the one who had to do the first move to warm cait's heart in the scene)
then about working out in the issue and stuff. here i gotta admit i might cherry pick a little bit but still:
jinx indicates how vi's words hurt her, she says she's jinx and powder is gone. vi says "you're not a jinx. god i never should have..." and "i'm not going to abandon you again"
and i guuuuess cait saying "i called off all the guards and i know you now" is a good gesture maybe, but still in the scene when vi indicates how in a way cait hurt her by saying " i always choose wrong and lost everyone"... okay okay to be fair cait's response can be interpreted like "you didn't lose me" but to me still feels more like "yeah you chose wrong but i'm still here" rather than "i was wrong leaving you that time, sorry". but it might be me. still vibes are totally different
and writing it all out, i'm sorry for that rant i guess. but situations are still not comparable, if that's supposed to be a parallel then it wasn't a good one, and it's not exactly what vi did, and even if it was it shouldn't really be a pass on being an ass to vi about it. even if vi understood
amazing how hung up people are on caitlyn lashing out physically at one of her worst and lowest emotional states ever (she literally felt betrayed in that moment) while still getting a "happy ending" without vi ever demanding an apology... when vi did *exactly* the same thing to powder in 1x03 (jinx never demanded an apology for that, mind you).
with vi knowing everything caitlyn was going through beneath the surface... do you really think, once the initial shock and hurt had passed, once vi ran into her again and saw proof that the old caitlyn is still in there when she risked everything to help save a parent, once caitlyn FINALLY used her power to both support and facilitate vi's choice to free her sister and stopped letting hatred for jinx come between them...
do you really think vi didn't understand, first-fucking-hand, the EXACT state of mind caitlyn was in that led her to do it? do you really think she couldn't empathize with that, or know it wasn't an act of hate or exertion of power?
to those insisting it's domestic violence, if you happened to click:
this post is not an excuse of DV incidents and situations that occur in real life, where actual patterns of cyclical abuse-reconciliation behavior develop in a relationship, making it dangerous and both psychologically & physically difficult to escape from.
this post is addressing a fictional story in which violence is a core theme and a recurring action taken by nearly ALL of its characters for various reasons. yes, it hurts more to see it happen in a vulnerable moment between characters that are close than to see it between enemies. but fictional characters committing violence (for any reason) as one part of a story arc is not the same as real people doing real harm to real people in real life. in a story, we are given far more information and understanding behind characters' motivations and states of mind, and whether the act is *actually* part of a larger pattern of behavior or a mistake that they regret. with real people? we have no fucking clue what to expect after that first act, and THAT'S what makes it a red flag worth running for the hills from.
