No cause you're so right actually--
For months, the monster had made appearances, broken parts of the village, slaughtering beloved pets. Imagine now that you're the one creating a neighborhood watch to find the creature and where it comes from. You document every place its been in, test the sculk it leaves behind and mourn killed pets and destroyed places. Meanwhile you seem to get sicker and sicker, even pass out in the Nether once.
And then everyone decides to have a night of fun, to celebrate and enjoy eachother's company. You have a coughing fit and retreat into a room so you don't bother the others.
You wake hours later with a new attachment to your body - one belonging to the monster you now know has been rampaging around. You look around but find only destruction around - destruction you know has been created by the beast. And then you realize the monster came from you all along - its a part of you, now showing externally even in your awakened state.
You rush home, looking out for signs for anyone else around. You pass by your bedroom window, peek in and see that one of your partners is hurt. Your first lover is wrapped in bandages, clearly damaged by the beast that hides in you. The guilt is overwhelming, nauseating even. You consider yourself a monster - you say you're the one who hurt him.
You don't even set foot in the house, too terrified that the monster within you will surface any moment and hurt others, too terrified of yourself and instead you grab whatever supplies you can find and run far far away.
You spend a month alone in a cold castle, locking yourself in a cage in the lower levels and the line between the monster and yourself fades into nothing. You believe that you are that monster, that you hurt your lover, that you killed your own pet and broke through people's houses.
You find a wolf that's bigger than any dog you've seen before and you take it in. You care for it, you give it a room and yet every morning after leaving the cage you find it outside its door, waiting for you.
Eventually you witness the beast turn into a man - one thats larger than you've ever met, one that's stronger than anyone you've met before - and you see the beauty in him. He isn't a monster, he is someone to care for. And so you do.
Then someone from your town shows up. A man you once considered a monster for terrorizing you and your friends now showed up for you, convinced that you're his friend, that you have to come home.
You let him stay.
Together, all three of you work on ways to fight the monster and slowly the line between you and the monster within reforms. You start to see it and you separately, but only with these people. The line fades every time you think of home, of your partners, of the one you hurt. You're still so convinced that you almost killed him.
You get a call from your nephew. You accept it and the talk between you two that of old friends, of family. You know they don't see you as a monster but someone to love.
You get a call from one of your partners. You accept it and the talk between you two is that one of lovers, though there is your guilt that struggles to see how they can still love you, after all you've done.
You get messages from your other partner, the one you hurt. The guilt is overwhelming but their words are so full of love, so full of longing. They tell you they don't blame you and you wish you could believe it in that moment. You decide that you have to get back to him no matter what.
You and your friends - both former beasts, now turned humane - work on how to get you home and you find a solution.
You head home.
You stop at the stairs.
You see them outside, talking.
Your heart swells with love and longing, but also guilt.
You fight through it, calling out to them.
They rush to you, not a hint of blame in their eyes.
They don't blame you for what happened. They don't care what happened, they only care that you're there finally. You're home.
You're finally home.
