Around this time last year I was in the process of becoming a better version of myself, so exactly a year ago today I flew into a foreign country alone and let me tell you, it was the best decision I’ve ever made. The reason I haven't been posting for a while is because I have been teaching English to college/high school students in Nepal, hosting a VBS summer camp in India, and visiting family in Taiwan. Where I live, there's no wifi. 

In case you don't know, Nepal is third world country sandwiched between India and China and home of Mount Everest. It is small, among the poorest, and most underdeveloped country but incredibly beautiful, especially the people- inside and out. The Nepalese are the kindest, most passionate people I have ever met. I left a piece of my soul there.

In India, the humidity makes the temperature feel 30 degrees hotter (probably due to the fact we had to conservatively wear clothing past our shins and shoulders) and seeing the living conditions might make your heart crack inside your chest; there's a difference, I believe, in possessing head knowledge that people live in such extreme conditions (both in Nepal and India) than being fully present in the midst of it day by day. But those in India are just as lovely and hospitable. My team and I share an apartment where we walk to a church/school before 6:30 am every day in the massive city of Kolkata and end each busy busy day at around 11 pm. Witnessing the joy on faces we encounter while teaching, feeding, singing, dancing with, playing games, etc are the absolute best moments. There are no words to fully capture my love for these countries and their people. 

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interest but each of you to the interests of others. Philippians 2:3-4 

I have learned so much about people, friendships, life, myself, and Jesus throughout this journey. We may have different cultures and languages but we share the same love and God. NAMASTE!
