     He’d not been doing too well. His mask hit one too many times, and finally part of it shattered. Causing him to tear it from its place and discard it; he needed to craft those better, didn’t he? He’d always hated fighting maskless. He felt rather naked without it.

     It didn’t matter in the long run; what mattered was the mission he was being paid to do. Assist Widowmaker. Let her do her part, and take out anything in the way of her doing whatever it is Talon instructed her to. Reaper wasn’t privy to it; he wasn’t a Talon agent. He was a mercenary. A good one, but a mercenary all the same. 

     He knew why they’d picked him for this one. Already wounded past what a mortal could take, the wraith pushed on. He stole the souls where he needed them in order to stand, and kept pushing. Smoke bled from him, but he ignored it. Bullets fired and hit him hard, but he ignored it. His mask shattered, but he ignored it. Widowmaker got targeted? He paid attention to it. 

     She hadn’t seen it; he had. He moved quick, guns clattering to the ground, the sound of which pulled the woman’s attention. Reaper had switched to the form of the wraith, moving in behind his newfound target and formed. One arm around the neck, the other claw on the head. It’s one quick sickening crack, which is followed by a thud as he lets go of the now dead body.

     He would have dropped back into proper combat, but she stops him by approaching quickly. The feel of her lips to his shocks the wraith, freezing him to the spot. To be kissed is something he didn’t expect; least of all from her. If she speaks, he doesn’t hear it as his world dulls out for a good minute. 

     His mind cannot process it, and he’s glad when a stray bullet finds its way into his arm. He’s quick to drop back into the fighting, however her action stays bothering him in the back of his mind; that endless loop of ‘why’s and ‘did that happen’s. Boy is it going to be an awkward ride flying back to collect payment for this one.
