Hey, just got from the show and it was great! I’ll go into a bit more detail tomorrow, after I’ve rested a little. But suffice to say that I had an absolutely magical time tonight. The music, the dancing and the acting was great, the set was beautiful and it was just so amazing.
I also tried to film the cast taking a bow after the show was over, but I sat pretty far back so go easy on me.

This is the (Tentative) Final Draft of the ATLA Playlists
My ask box is open to suggestions and improvements. I won’t be able to burn them to discs for at least two weeks, so there’s lots of time for you guys to give your input! :) Most of the tracks are available to listen to on Youtube or Spotify. I’m actually 99% sure that all of them are available on one or both of those platforms. I wanted to use more Eastern music, but I have NO background in that style, so I was really hard pressed to find any that fit. I am really looking for any suggestions in that department, especially. Thanks again.
Enjoy!

Avicii, Top Electronic Dance Music Artist, Dies at 28
Tumblr media
Swedish DJ Avicii, one of the world's biggest dance music stars, has died in Oman at the age of 28. Avicii's club anthems include Wake Me Up, Levels, and recently, Lonely Together with Rita Ora. His representative said in a statement: "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. "The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time." No cause of death was announced, and Avicii's representative said no further statements would be issued.
Tumblr media
One of the last pictures of Avicii (centre), at a tourist resort near Muscat The electronic dance music (EDM) star, who reportedly made $250,000 (£180,000) a night on tour, had struggled with some health issues in the past, having his gall bladder and appendix removed in 2014. He announced his retirement from touring in 2016, partly because of the health problems. "I know I am blessed to be able to travel all around the world and perform, but I have too little left for the life of a real person behind the artist," he said at the time.
Who was Avicii?
One of the biggest names in dance music of the last 10 years, he had a catalogue full of pumping, uplifting, house smashes He started his career when he won a production competition held by Pete Tong in 2008 He went on to notch up 11 billion streams on Spotify and was the first EDM DJ to stage a worldwide arena tour He was nominated for two Grammy Awards and had nine UK top 10 singles, including two number ones He suffered from health problems including acute pancreatitis, in part due to excessive drinking. He later announced a return to the studio, and released a new self-titled EP in 2017.The EP, Avĩci (01), was nominated for a Billboard music award for top electronic album just days before his death. As well as working with the likes of Aloe Blacc and Rita Ora, Avicii collaborated with artists including Madonna and Coldplay. I have no words. I remember how amazing it was to make Lonely Together and it felt like just yesterday we were talking. Condolences to Avicii's family, friends, and the fans who supported him. May he rest in peace. Gone too soon. I’m devastated. Heartbroken. — Rita Ora (@RitaOra) April 20, 2018 So Sad....... So Tragic. Good Bye Dear Sweet Tim. 💙 Gone too Soon. pic.twitter.com/l7FDKCu6K4 — Madonna (@Madonna) April 20, 2018 Former Radio 1 DJ Judge Jules, who often performed alongside him, said his biggest achievement was being the first electronic dance star to break America. "He was the first huge commercial star," Judge Jules told the BBC. "He really became someone who couldn't go out on the street, he was so heavily recognised." Other leading electronic artists wrote tributes to Bergling after the news of his death. Devastating news about Avicii, a beautiful soul, passionate and extremely talented with so much more to do. My heart goes out to his family. God bless you Tim x — Calvin Harris (@CalvinHarris) April 20, 2018 Singer Dua Lipa tweeted: "Such sad news to hear about Avicii passing. Too young and way too soon. My condolences go out to his family, friends and fans." US band Imagine Dragons tweeted: "Working with him was one of my favourite collaborative moments. Far too young. The world was a happier and fuller place with his presence and art." "No words can describe the sadness I'm feeling right now, hearing about Avicii passing away," offered DJ Zedd, while singer Adam Lambert, who collaborated on the track Lay Me Down, called him "a brilliant composer and a gentle spirit."
An enchanting artist
Analysis by Mark Savage, BBC Music reporter At Avicii's last ever show in August 2016, one crazed fan climbed a 100ft-high (30m) scaffolding tower, just to get a better view.   Craziest moment from avicii last night was when this guy climbed up on this.. #tennentsvital #avicii pic.twitter.com/bK03WK0K0n — connor (@hiFletch) August 27, 2016 That's not something that happens that often during a DJ set (who needs to see the stage anyway?) but it was a testament to Avicii's ability to enchant an audience. Confetti cannons and bass drops aside, his shows encapsulated the inclusive, everyone-welcome philosophy that led him to collaborate with Coldplay, Nile Rodgers and Antony Hegarty as well as bluegrass and metal musicians in the studio. That final show, at Ushuaia Ibiza, was a two-hour greatest hits set, featuring crowd pleasers like Levels and Wake Me Up alongside his remixes of Robyn and Dizzee Rascal. But the DJ, who famously let the cat out of the bag when he revealed most major DJs pre-programmed their sets (comments he later walked back), was also known for dropping unexpected, whimsical tracks into his performances. A bit of Smokey Robinson here; a dash of Chicago there. He approached it all with an energy and optimism that permeated his own recordings. It's no surprise he was one of the most beloved DJs on the circuit.
Avicii in his own words
To Billboard Magazine in 2016: "When I look back on my life, I think: whoa, did I do that? It was the best time of my life in a sense. It came with a price - a lot of stress, a lot of anxiety for me - but it was the best journey of my life" Post-retirement on his website: ", that is what I live for, what I feel I was born to do... The next stage will be all about my love of making music to you guys. It is the beginning of something new." Prelude to music video for hit The Nights: "When I was 16, my father said, 'You can do anything you want with your life, you just have to be willing to work hard to get it.' That's when I decided when I die, I want to be remembered for the life I live, not the money I make." Source : BBC Read the full article

DJ Mag Announces Top 100 Winners
DJ Mag has announced the results of the Top 100 DJs Poll 2017, with Martin Garrix crowned as the world’s No.1 DJ for a second consecutive year. Garrix received the award at the Top 100 DJs Awards ceremony at AMF 2017 at Amsterdam ArenA; and was joined onstage by the Highest Duo, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike (No.2), and Armin van Buuren (No.3), the Highest Trance DJ.
AMF 2017 also featured an exclusive back-to-back performance by Armin van Buuren and Hardwell during the #TwoIsOne showcase, with further sets from David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Marshmello, Don Diablo, and many more.
The Top 100 DJs Poll 2017 had over a million votes again this year, a marginal increase on 2016’s record-breaking 1 million figures. The most votes came from the USA, followed by Brazil, Mexico, Netherlands, India, UK, Spain, Italy, France, Belgium, China, Germany, and Japan. There were 15 new entries, 7 re-entries, and 5 non-movers.
With Martin Garrix voted the world’s No.1 DJ for a second year, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have hung onto the No.2 spot, while Armin van Buuren is back up to No.3 — a spot he held for several years in the mid-Noughties before rising to No.1 for a record-breaking five times. Armin leapfrogs his sometime #TwoIsOne partner Hardwell — another former winner — while Tiesto, David Guetta, Afrojack and Steve Aoki all hold steady in the Top 10. The Chainsmokers jump 12 places into the Top 10 at No.6, while Marshmello is up 18 to No.10.
Just outside the Top 10, Don Diablo is the Highest Future House DJ, and Skrillex is still the Highest Bass DJ despite moving down seven places. Alan Walker — the UK-born, Norway-raised DJ/producer is the Highest Climber, up 38 places to No.17.
The Top 100 DJs Poll 2017 further opened up the voting process to Chinese dance music fans via a fully updated and translated validation mechanism. China’s electronic music scene continues to grow at a rapid pace, and Chinese DJs, DJ L and Carta, both from Shanghai, have made their Top 100 debuts this year, alongside 15 new entries in the Top 100, with Lost Frequencies from Belgium the Highest New Entry. Other new names to the Poll include Mike Williams, Julian Jordan and Lucas & Steve, but the big story for this year’s Poll is the rise of ‘non-EDM’ DJs.
In his forthcoming annual Top 100 DJs Poll analysis (DJ Mag November issue released 26 October), DJ Mag UK’s editor, Carl Loben, describes how the upper echelons of the Poll have remained largely the same, but further down the Poll this year’s results have an influx of wider names from differing scenes, reflecting how “as EDM has waned somewhat, the void is being filled — at festivals and larger clubs — by big names from more discerning scenes”.
Solomun has a debut chart placing at No.81, while Maceo Plex charts ten places lower, and South African hero Black Coffee debuts at No.85. Also bridging the gap between the underground and the mainstream, Eric Prydz has had a good year, he’s up 32 places to No.34. Claptone is also a new entry at No.69, as is Australian DJ, Alison Wonderland (No.89).
Richie Hawtin returns in the Poll at No.80 after slipping out in 2016, but Carl Cox is once again the Highest Techno DJ — up 12 places to No.62. Paul Kalkbrenner is back in the Top 100 for the first time since 2012, while in the next 50 places (101-150), Loco Dice, Marco Carola, Adam Beyer, Jamie Jones, Green Velvet, Seth Troxler, Nina Kraviz and Kolsch all make an appearance.
Disclosure have returned to the Top 100, and Andy C — once again the Highest Drum & Bass DJ in the Poll — has reaped the rewards of a hectic year by double-dropping himself back in at No.77.
Nervo are once again the Highest Female DJs, while Mexico’s Mariana BO, in at No.84, joins the aforementioned Alison Wonderland and Nina Kraviz, and hard techno spinner Miss K8 from Ukraine, who is up 30 places.
The Top 100 DJs Poll used to be dominated by trance DJs until the rise of EDM a few years back, but it seems like the sound is having a resurgence. Not only is trance figurehead Armin van Buuren up, but former winner Paul van Dyk is up nine places and the Above & Beyond trio are up twenty places off the back of their huge arena shows. ATB is also up to No.54, while Ferry Corsten jumps up nine places in the wake of his ‘Blueprint’ album.
There’s still a smattering of hardstyle DJs in the hallowed hundred, and Angerfist has had to surrender his Highest Hard DJ hat to Headhunterz, who’s returned to the hardstyle scene after a spell exploring more mainstream music.
Unicef, the global children’s organization, is the Top 100 DJs charity beneficiary for 2017. Unicef works in over 190 countries around the world to keep all children healthy, happy and safe. They ensure more of the world’s children are vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organization.

Highlights of CATS Stockholm 2022!
tOkay, so I am late to post this, but I’ve been very busy with school work these last few weeks and I kinda forgot about it. But now I’m free for a bit and I finally got around to writing down some high lights from when I went and saw CATS here in Stockholm last month! While the show was very similar to the 1998 movie that I’ve seen plenty of times, similar choreography, set, costumes and everything, it did have a few moments that I really wanted to share with you. I’m only sorry I couldn’t provide visual aide but hopefully my descriptions will be enough to paint a picture for you.
Tumblr media
So without any further ado, let’s get to it!
1. Mistoffelees acting like Munkustrap’s second in command director, always prominent around numbers and directing other cats while Munkustrap is busy or leading a number. He was also tap dancing along with Munkustrap, Demeter, Bomba and Jelly during Jennyanydots number which I loved!
2. During Rum Tum Tugger’s song, despite no clear Tuggoffelees moments, Mistoffelees had moments of looking both disinterested by Tugger or like he wanted to join in the fun but kept getting shooed away by Munkustrap or Skimbleshanks, acting like an overprotective dad/brother to Misto. Clear “why can’t I play with the cool kids?” energy.
3. On a similar note Mistoffelees is the first one to try to get closer to Grizabella, looking quite curious of her, only for Munkustrap to pull him back, similar to the 1998 movie. Munkustrap is Misto’s big brother in this version and you cannot change my mind!
4. Bombalurina acting very much like a protector to the tribe, especially the kittens, actively keeping them away from Grizabella and protecting them from Macavity.
5. Demeter showing strong compassion and sadness for Grizabella, especially while singing ‘Grizabella the Glamour Cat’, clearly feeling very sorry for her and is seemingly the only one who does. Meanwhile Bombalurina acts like a protective girlfriend and glowers at Grizabella while Demeter looks sad for her. Munkustrap wants her to leave, but refuses to look at her face.
6. Tugger acts very much like a cool, aloof teenager who is ‘too cool to play with the other kids’ when he doesn’t act like a diva. For most of act 1 and part of act 2 he is seen hanging around the back, sitting on the oven and just watching. When he joins in on Old Deuteronomy’s song, Munkustrap turns to look at him with a look that says “what are you doing? How dare you interrupt me trying to praise dad, you little sh*t!” Also he looks like he wants to strangle him for a moment, complete with appropriate hand gestures. But once Tugger makes it clear he isn’t going to do anything, he relaxes as they begin to sing together, though they do exchange brotherly slaps on the arms and shoulders before Old D shows up. 7. However, during Gus’ number he takes a moment to flirt with Bombalurina, then shows to encourage Gus, takes part during The Battle of the Pekes and the Pollicles, hugs Gus to comfort him after the number is over and helps him put on his old coat again, clearly concerned for him. Then during Skimbleshanks song, he plays along with the other cats, helps build and play with the train, leads Old Deuteronomy after they start dancing after him (Like Munkustrap in the 98 version), gives him a hug, then him and Munkustrap make the tower for Skimble to stand on at the end of the number. Munkustrap was the bottom while Tugger held his arm!
Speaking of Gus, he is very excited to talk about himself and what he’s done in his acting career, is very frustrated about how ‘kittens aren’t trained the way they should be’ and the younger kittens are openly offended. Most notable were Cassandra sitting and pouting with her arms folded like a child and Tugger, who’s been chilling on the oven the whole song, sitting up and giving a look that says ‘now you listen here old man!’
Also he is clearly having the time of his life haming it up to 11 for the tribe, especially as the Rumpus Cat. Though Jellylorum looks a bit annoyed at times, like she wants him to sit down and rest not prance around on stage and possibly overdo it. “Yes, yes grandpa you are very impressive now please sit down before you hurt yourself.” She even tries to lead him off stage before Pekes and the Pollicles number and looks frustrated when he turns around and goes “I could do it again!”
Mistoffelees is also very active during the show, often seen at the front during dance numbers, openly using his magic, sits on Old Deuteronomy’s side, while Munkustrap is on the other. He is also shown to be very protective of the tribe, at one point he literally leaps onto the car, almost attacking Grizabella to chase her off after she shows up in the middle of the Jellicle Ball before lighting the party lights with his magic and party kicks back up again.
Also, at one point Mistoffelees is standing behind the other cats and Old D (I think somewhere behind the tire-throne?), seemingly using his magic to direct/making the other cats’ dance the way he is. It’s a cool concept, but I wasn’t quite sure what it was supposed to mean.
Mistoffelees’ is the this Jellicle Ball’s dance director, fight me!
Line ‘Felines and Friends, I give you the Magical, the Marvelous Mister Mistoffelees!’. Don’t know if this is commonly used these days but I kinda love it.
Grizabella going to the Heaviside Lair. Again, don’t know what the common use is for the show these days, I’ve only seen the 98 movie and the Broadway revival from 2016. But in this show she had a harness on and once she was lead up on the tire-throne, she was lifted into the air, as the colors of the rainbow shining around her as the other cats sang her into her next life. I literally cannot give the moment enough credit with my words, it was just beautiful and I’m so sad I couldn’t catch it on video or photo for you!
All in all, I had a fantastic time and I wish I could go see it again!
(also, I am so sorry for how Getting To Know You hasn’t been updated in forever, I will get to it soon I promise!)
