Hi welcome to my Fraggle Rock/Muppets/Jim Henson/Puppets/Whatever blog.
I’m Zeke and my pronouns are He/They/It. I’m Aroace and a Transmasc Demiboy I like Fraggle Rock a little too much.
Red Fraggle is the GOAT, and if I see her be the butt of the joke I make a new AU where she’s the main character.
I also really like Gobo and Mokey.
I’m a Back To The Rock disliker but that doesn’t come up much. But feel free to block me if that bothers you.
My opinions on other Muppet stuff is that it’s epic but I can’t elaborate more on that because Fraggle Rock is my current hyperfixation.
I swear a lot and sometimes post about my horror AUs! Block “TMA AU”, “Necromancer Redkey”, and “Catabolic Seed AU” if you don’t want to see those
(main blog is @monstrousmaws)

3, 4, 17, 18, 26 and 36 for the writer ask game. :3
3. What is your writing ritual and why is it cursed?
i play ridiculous music when i can't concentrate and need stimulation. running in the 90s. mad rat monday. spamton CD. this kasane teto song which i have seen (accurately imo) described as penis music.
4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?
i can't really... think of any? there are words i like but i wouldn't say i hoot and holler if i see a chance to use them, or see them crop up in someone else's work. themes and ideas, yeah! specific words... idk.
17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.
i've been doing a lot of probably entirely unnecessary research for my latest WIP which is... hm! how about i dm you about that one.
on the subject of research, i'm under no illusions, catabolic seed is sheer scifi nonsense (affectionate). i've purposefully held off from getting too in the weeds with it because i know i would stress too much about complex worldbuilding and scientific accuracy, so a lot of stuff that isn't directly relevant to the plot is broad strokes stuff. as per the main inspiration, wolf 359, i'm leaning more on the workplace comedy at the start (because, haha, i have a job, he just like me fr) but i may develop the sci fi elements more once its time to fully bring them into the story. what i do have is: detailed bios and job descriptions for each character, a rough layout of the spaceship Hemera, notes on robotics and spacefaring technology, rival factions within the worldspace, some alien biology stuff... i'm a pretty big science nerd, and i enjoy good hard sci fi! but we're not doing that here, we're putting guys in situations. this is about genre. verisimilitude. you're getting good old fashioned technobabble.
18. Choose a passage from your writing. Tell me about the backstory of this moment. How you came up with it, how it changed from start to end. Spicy addition: Questioner provides the passage.
alright, how about this part from ch1 of catabolic seed! i made some pretty big last minute changes to the beginning of the fic because the pacing wasn't working, and i ended up pulling in a scene from much later in the story to serve as a dirkjake meet cute.
Tumblr media
i like set up. establishing tone, creating atmosphere... the way you introduce a character, even one known already to the audience, is something i think is important and i enjoy playing with that a lot. originally jane was present and dirk was going to be pulling a bunch of wires out of the wall, which jane described as 'disemboweling her spaceship' but at some point i decided him popping out of the vent and scaring the shit out of jake seemed like a more fun idea so i ran with it. this establishses dirk as a potential threat, which leads to the stupid kabedon moment later, which leads to the jokes about the disney cruise liner and the engineering section flooding... i didn't have time to think it through all the way but as far as choices made on the fly go i think i made it work!
dirk being in the vents was also pulling from wolf 359, specifically referencing the character captain minkowski who i felt was kind of comprable to dirk in terms of her neuroses - it wasn't till i got someone else's eyes on it that they pointed out that i'd introduced dirk exactly like a fucking xenomorph, which was perfect, so i scrambled to insert a textual reference to the alien movies and doing some hasty worldbuilding while i was at it.
in general i think exploring the relationship from jake's point of view is super interesting. in an au where they don't already know each other, dirk is an interesting figure for jake to 'figure out' - aloof, mysterious, other - classic love interest stuff. which is perhaps less interesting than their deal in canon, but hey, i'm having fun running with it.
26. How do you get into your character’s head? How do you get out? Do you ever regret going in there in the first place?
hm, i don't know. i hyperfixated on the alpha kids pretty hard so i think i already have quite well-formed interpretations of their personalities and perspectives, it's not hard to dredge those up when i need them. i won't pretend my writing is for sure an accurate reflection of canon characterisation or anything but i'll go read passages from canon when writing and refining dialogue especially. and hmm. i do end up going to dark places sometimes, and nearly every fic ends up quite a bit darker than i mean it to... i'm totally fine. don't worry about it.
36. They say to Write What You Know. Setting aside for a moment the fact that this is terrible advice…what do you Know?
be bisexual, eat hot chip and lie
aside from my aforementioned interests in genre fiction, or biology, i can see what i'm grappling with as a person reflected quite clearly in what i end up exploring in my work. i have the past experiences of being a queer teenager who had no idea what was going on, grappling with mental illness and feeling incredibly alone. or i can draw on my experiences as an adult, finding myself as a person, going out into the world, and all the struggles therein.

For the ask game, I'll send a few!!
for one you don't know much about: Arcee, For a AU Character: Swap Bendy or Joey, and for a cannon character you do know: Allison!
1, 2, 3, and 27
For Swap!Bendy:
1: My first impression of them
'oh you can fit SO much trauma in this boi'
2: When I think I started to like/dislike them
I always had a soft spot for the little guy, mainly because before we worked out the full extension of the AU, the mental image of the little guy following you around while you run errands sounded wonderful :]
3: A song that reminds me of them
I already screamed about 'Catabolic Seed' in our DMs, but another one that I kinda think a lot is 'The Chattering Lack of Common Sense' by Ghost! I see it as kind of a summary of his character development, realizing he can't hide away on the sidelines and that he needs to take action!
27: If they could meet a character from another show/movie/etc, who would be the most interesting for them to meet?
Hmmm this might seem odd but I think Toriel Dreemurr from Undertale! Both of them hid themselves away from their society because of twisted things that were going on that they couldn't stop.
For Swap!Joey:
1: 'oh he and susie are gonna fucking maul each other'
2: I started to like him once we developed him more and made him kinder and more caring about his employees.
3: House of Memories by Panic! At The Disco! It really represents Ghost!Joey and him reflecting on the hand he played in the tragedy Susie caused and blaming himself for it. (This song also works for Canon!Joey but that's a post for another day)
27: I think Asgore Dreemurr, again, from Undertale, would be pretty interesting to see with him! Both of them chose a heavily flawed solution in the name of trying to help the people to care about (plus there is the dilf vibes-)
For Canon!Allison
1: hmmm I was kinda intrigued by her when I first saw her in the game!
2: I started to like her when the game showed more of her character! Though I have to admit she lost a bit of favor when I realized that she could have freed Henry using her sword but for plot reasons didn't.
3: I Know Those Eyes/This Man Is Dead from The Count of Monte Cristo! This came to me when BATDR came out and showed us that Allison was actively trying to save Susie. It represents, again, Allison trying to help Susie and get through to her and Susie resisting her efforts.
27: You know, it would be kinda poetic if I said Asriel, but it don't fit, haha. It's kind of a mix between Tess from The Last of Us and Phoenix Wright from Ace Attorney.
...ok, I swear I can explain-
Tess: Badass survivor with a partner and an ambiguous relationship with said partner. I think they'd have an interesting relationship.
Phoenix Wright: Ok, this makes sense I swear. Both of them (Phoenix in the first game) are trying to save someone who's done some messed up junk because they know that person can be better.
Plus Phoenix deals with supernatural shenanigans on the regular and I kinda wanna see his reaction to ink people.
Ask me stuff about random characters!

The deadend is not kind place for mechs, it never has been. But some say if you can make it out of there you can go anywhere. Drift is nothing, he was a spare, a back up, and now he's wasting away in an alleyway waiting for his spark to return the well. However, he's not quiet ready to die and a young stubborn medic won't give up hope. Ratchet knows that Drift is far more then the deadlock he believes, or his professor says the man is. His professor is determined to prove otherwise.

Alright, using the EddTord sex slave au for @drake-the-incubus‘s questions
How did you come up with title for [x fic]?
The actual title is “I want to destroy everything that’s mine,” from the scary jokes’ song catabolic seed, which has always been in the Part Four section of my big ETF playlist.
Which idea came to you first in [x fic]?
Honestly, at first the idea was around Red Leader using time travel to kidnap a younger, less jaded version of Edd (in a similar vein to him visiting young!Edd in ETF 3). I honestly love the trope of a deeply fucked up, emotionally stunted individual using some kind of physically identical surrogate for their lost love. The idea of cloning Ringo was already canon to ETF 4, shamelessly stolen from a post on here (did I link it in the footnotes? I feel like I did. If not I’m sorry but I don’t remember where it’s from). So this was the natural next step.
I’d also been reading some more first-person books and wanted to try writing in a style more fitting of Green Leader. I like writing Edd in second-person because of his general passivity, but it’s also a style that’s more generic, you know? A lot of fic types have their own common writing styles and while this is not a bad thing, I just wanted to try something different. It didn’t work.
Which part of [x fic] was the hardest to write?
Fucking all of it because my laptop crashed T H R E E F U C K I N G T I M E S in a single day.
I also have complicated feelings about the depiction of rape here, and just in fics in general. I’m getting very tired of fics writing incredibly long and detailed rape scenes that would need literally zero editing to be generic rape porn and trying to pass that off as meaningful commentary on sexual assault. I’m not saying that people are necessarily doing this intentionally, but it’s gotten to the point that something that should be shocking and disgusting -- I mean why else are you describing it for 2k words? -- is just mundane, and I feel like it conflicts with these stories’ otherwise overt messaging about how feeling pleasure =/= consent or deserving it.
I should specify that this is really only a problem with authors who approach every single rape scene with this technique. You can’t both have a story that takes rape trauma seriously and have your obvious rape kink on display literally every single time the topic comes up. Furthermore, despite the incendiary subject matter, rape scenes are still scenes -- if all I got out of a 4k word rape scene was “X character was raped and now they has a sad :c” that’s just a waste of my fucking time.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that the way rape is portrayed here is great or groundbreaking or anything, but everything I just said is problematized when it’s from the rapist’s pov. As multiple studies have shown, (male) rapists actually think all men are also rapists, they just keep it on the down low. In this case, Green both justifies his actions as consensual and, when pushed, admits to himself he doesn’t really care about who he hurts. So why should it be censored in any way?
And it is consensual at the start-- or rather as consensual as it could be given how fucked the optics are-- but Green just can’t help himself from pushing things too far and ignoring Tord’s boundaries. So I tried to keep the reminders of his violence invading the scene the way I did with Paultryck had in “our love gorges,” with things like Green’s cum getting on where Tord’s burn should be, or having the scene be interrupted with Green thinking, “(If he doesn't stop playing coy I’m going to slit his wrists and let him bleed out over the balcony).” As the night goes on, Green reveals just how much he views sex and violence as pretty much one and the same.
I dunno. As 2019 went on, I became increasingly frustrated with and critical of myself and the way I utilized and portrayed violence and suffering in my writing, so I’m not going to defend myself all that much. I’d be happy to get some other opinions though.
If you were ever to do a sequel to [x fic], what do you think might happen in it?
Red Leader somehow reaches out to clone!Tord and tries to bring him out of that situation by reminding him that Green Leader is fickle and cruel, which he’s already been getting a taste of. Thereafter clone Tord finds the videos of Green Leader livestreaming Red’s eye being taken out and starts freaking.
It doesn’t get much better.
In [x fic], what is a happy, post-fic headcanon you have about [pairing]?
LMAOOOOOOOOOOO.
