I think Simon would be slightly wary of dealing with electrical stuff.

The man was electrolysed repeatedly by the same man who took the life he could have lived away from him (and probably not for the first time we see it). The same man who, despite talking about how he can be redeemed, laughed as he did it and showed little if any hesitance. The same man who likely would have wanted him or Athena - the only tie Simon has back to Metis and the little girl he was trying to save - take the blame to reduce the chances of being caught.

I think Simon would be wary of wires. He'll insist he just doesn't know tech, but Athena can tell he's at least a little frightened. Partly because of superpowers, but also because she knows too.
