This is the Winter Hall in the Royal Castle of Caserta, and it is the last antechamber of the 18th century rooms in the Old Apartment. Large-scale oil paintings hang on the walls depicting hunting scenes and military maneuvers, scenes that are in contrast to their delicate rococo frames. The furniture consisting of sofas and white and gold chairs comes from the Villa Favorita in Herculaneum.

After Charles’s departure, the construction works of the “new Palace”, named like this at that time the Royal Palace, suffered a considerable slowdown, so at the death of Luigi Vanvitelli in 1773, they were far from being completed.
