Hey. Just wanted to say I absolutely love your recs. I was wondering, if by any chance, you had any recs of fics where Daryl comforts Carol. Specifically, if possible, I’m looking for a fic where he comforts her because of her claustrophobia but honestly, I’ll take any fic where Daryl comforts Carol that I can. TIA 😊

AU Thursday - Double Week!Caryl Fanfiction Rec
Dear fellow carylers, today's AUs are two of my favorite sci-fi takes on Caryl, both written by the talented @silversundown2. Her imagination for AUs always blows my mind!
Adrift is posted on 9Lives.
Summary: It is lonely up here, she knew it would be. A little company might be nice, but the isolation is a small price to pay for freedom.
Carol's research station receives a distress call. Answering it could change everything.
Rated: E Word count: 41.740 (11 chapters - complete) Published: June 23, 2019 Outerspace!Caryl. Our favorite duo meet in an AU that is just as difficult and horrifying as a zombie apocalypse. Their feelings progress from distrust to comfort and from friendship to love. It happens very quickly, but feels true to the story (and there's an explicit consent scene that is just so good, so respectful, so very caryl). Funny bits (and OC) are just as amazing as the scary ones. Great fic from start to finish! Upload is posted on 9Lives.
Summary: The digital afterlife isn't all it's cracked up to be. Not until he meets her.
Rated: E Word count: 33.911 (11 chapters - complete) Published: November 21, 2020
Oh, yes, only Silver could write a story where Carol and Daryl meet in the digital afterlife without crushing (too much) our hearts with the prospect of them dying. The angst pay off, trust me. I love how romantic and moving this fic is and how Carol and Daryl support each other through the worst of times. A lot of TF characters appear to help moving the story forward, which is always a plus for me. A beautiful read.

One-Shot Monday - Caryl Fanfiction Rec
Dear fellow carylers, 20 days left until TBOC! I repeat, 20 days left until Carol/Melissa are back and just a little longer for Daryl and Carol's reunion! I'm so excited, I can't believe we're almost there. I know some of us are afraid that Daryl won't be on the same emotional page as Carol when they get back together. I'm not worried about it, but my rec for today is dedicated to all of you who are in need of some hurt/comfort by looking back at the story we already watched and how it correlates to the story we're about to watch. We worked our way through some very muddy waters before and we made it to the other side. Just like Carol finds Daryl over and over again, the Caryl fandom can re-find their joy.
Belong, written by @gunmetal-ring, is posted on 9Lives and AO3.
Summary: He doesn't know where he belongs, until he does.
(A look at Daryl's head during those ten months. Season 10, episode 18: "Find Me")
Rated: M Word count: 2.530 Published: April 04, 2021 (one-shot)
I love fics that delve into the canon and master cohesive character studies from it, and today's author is a pro at that. What she did with this fic is absolutely beauty. It's great to have Daryl's intricate thoughts and broken feelings uncovered through the light of this story to its ultimate resolution, even if we wish he didn't have to go through any of this. Find Me was very divisive and difficult for our fandom, but it was, first and foremost, a Caryl episode. TBOC seems to be the resolution that Daryl wishes for at the end of this fic. Let's hope our author guessed the future, dear fellow carylers - fanfiction authors are quite known for doing just that. Read, review, rejoice! And caryl on, lovelies, caryl on!

ZA AU/ZA Tuesday - Caryl Fanfiction Rec
Today we're going full classic, dear fellow carylers! This must read caryl fic is the reason why I changed our Tuesday's tag proposal just a little bit and I'm very happy to finally recommend it to you all.
How Carol Got Her Groove Back, written by Trogdor19, is posted on 9Lives, AO3 and FF.net.
Summary: How it all started between Daryl & Carol. Untold stories from the winter between Season 2 & 3, including how Carol got her knife & Daryl got his poncho. Friendship, and a slow simmer into the spark of romance. Full cast, but Caryl-centric.
Rated: E / Explicit Word count: 91.996 (37 chapters) Published: December 17, 2016 - COMPLETE
Trogdor19 did such a superb job with this story! It's a joy to read how our author filled in significant gaps and brought to life off-screen moments relating to the progression of Carol and Daryl's relationship and their place as important members of TF. It's also great how, years ago, she managed to nail some aspects of their dynamics that we would only see on screen in S9-10. For example, S10!Carol constantly touching her friendship bracelet as a source of comfort x fic!Carol touching Daryl's crossbow to feel safe. There is honesty and care in the way each character (including TF) is written in this story, and that makes all the difference. The final chapter with a revisited version of the iconic bus scene with explicit romantic tones is the cherry on top we all ever wanted. Dear fellow caryler, if you never read this fic, please go do it right now, for real. You won't regret it. And, if you did, this is your chance to reread it and enjoy it all over again. As always, consider leaving a review to our author while you're at it. Feedback is love. So it's caryl. Caryl on, lovelies, caryl on!

Fix It Wednesday - Caryl Fanfiction Rec
Two days of fluffly fics in a row, let's throw some angst (with resolution) into the mix, shall we? Starting Over written by @gunmetal-ring is posted on 9Lives and AO3.
Summary: "We ain't dead. And whatever happened, happened. Let's start over."
"I want to."
(A fix-it to season 5, episode 6: "Consumed.")
Rating: G / General Audiences Word count: 1466 Published: June 13, 2021 - ONE-SHOT Consumed really was a turning point for Carol and Daryl's relationship. In the show, it turned to a sour and dry direction; but our dear author talentedly fixed, making Daryl act the way he should. It's moving to watch him try to reach Carol in her numbness and hopelessness, and beautiful when he manages to break through it. What I love about this fic is how realistic it ends - because Carol telling Daryl about what happened to Lizzie and Mika doesn't magically resolve her trauma..but it's the first step. She still feels like ashes, but Daryl's there to comfort and support her along the way. An amazing fix-it indeed!
As always, feedback is love. Please leave a kudos or a nice review if you read today's rec, okay? I'm counting on you to make our fandom a happier place. Caryl on!

🧟‍♂️ Caryl Fanfiction Recs - Halloween Edition 🧟‍♂️
There's no way I would pass on the chance to recommend some Caryl + Halloween/Horror/Terror fics to you all, my fellow carylers. After all, our favorite comfort show is full of dead people walking around with rotten brain matter.

So, without further ado, here are six caryl fics to entertain you on this Halloween! Most of them were written for 9Lives Halloween Challenge of 2015. So down we go on this spooky memory lane! Enjoy!
🧛‍♀️Let Me In by TheWalkingCaryl [ 9Lives ] Summary: Daryl had strict rules and a lifetime of lies, but it was the only way that he knew of to keep the promise he had made to Carol. To keep Sophia safe from anything and everything. Rating: M/Mature Published: October 23, 2015 - one-shot
👽Flutter by @thereadersmuse [ 9Lives | AO3 ] Summary: Her coat tails flapped in the breeze as her pace suddenly devolved, turning into a staggering half run as the material flared out behind her like a banner. It was the only sound in the encompassing quiet – adding harmony to the abyss as her pale throat worked around a sudden sob. (Crossover with "The Mist" by Stephen King.) Rating: M/Mature Chapters: 19 Published: August 02, 2014 - COMPLETE
🐺The Hunter by @lovesdaryl [ 9Lives | AO3 ] Summary: He has been hunting the beast for years and is finally close to catching up to it. The moon will be full soon. Will Daryl manage to take the wolf down before it feeds again? Rating: E / Explicit Chapters: 9  Published: October 23, 2015 - COMPLETE

Plot/No Plot Friday - Caryl Fanfiction Rec
Has anyone asked for some fun, sweet, hot smut around here that also delves into the all-important subject of period sex?
Unquenched, unquenchable (Stream of Life), written by @grimmjowkurosakidrake, is posted on 9Lives and AO3. Summary: They have been together for over a month, and by now, for weeks, spoiled and pampered by her lavish nature, Daryl finds himself looking up to the comforting habit of waking up to the taste of her, every morning.
Rated: E Word count: 6.099 (02 chapters) Published: August 20, 2024 (complete) Another beloved author in our fandom stated that Carol is Daryl's favorite meal and this fic is an incredible example of that. Our author did a great job describing Daryl's thought process and portraying his relationship with Carol as so full of love and mutual appreciation that there was no way it wouldn't translate into their bed. If Carol spoils Daryl, he reciprocates just the same...and it's sexy as hell! Kudos for how sweet and clear the consent talk is and for Glenn's cameo in the end. Go read it, dear fellow carylers, and don't forget to leave feedback. Let's be grateful for our porn! Caryl on!

I have a couple of fics to recommend. I’m not sure if you have before though. Both are ongoing works and AU.
One is Abundance of the Heart by LightenEverything. It has some STRONG themes that should be approached with caution.
The other is Rough and Tumble by iliveatlast. This one has some triggers in it but is not as strong as the first.
You may have already mentioned these. Shoot, I may have started reading them because you did. But I figured it’s worth a shot in case you hadn’t. :)
Hi, dear @murdadixon! Sorry, it took me a lot longer than I thought to get to your recs. Thank you so much for contributing to this little project and for being a friend. 💙 Rough and Tumble by @iliveatlast is a fan-favorite WIP and it was recommend on week 2. You can find my review for it here. 🙂 Abundance of the Heart by LightenEverything is posted on 9Lives and AO3. Summary: This story deals with childhood sexual abuse. If you are triggered by content related to that, do not read this story.
"Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks." (Matthew 12:34)
The gates to the compound stand open: heavy and wooden, in need of sanding and varnishing. Daryl stops his bike on the dirt track and squints through the evening haze at the sign just inside the sprawling property. Brethren of the Blessed Spring, in faded, peeling black letters. There used to be words beneath those, a Bible verse, maybe. But all that remains on the weathered board are specks of paint, faint grey smudges. On the gates, he notices, is the name of the compound, two letters on each gate so the name is displayed when they are closed: Elim. Daryl tries the word in his mind. It moves like something shutting, the syllables forbidding entrance.
Unable to get another job in the small town where he lives, Daryl goes to do maintenance work for the Brethren of the Blessed Spring in Colorado. Hoping for peace, for a routine without disturbance, he instead finds himself caught up in the lives of the community--particularly that of the head elder's wife. Rated: E / Explicit Word count: 233058 (64 chapters of ?) Published: June 17, 2023 - WIP As murda said and our author alerts on the summary, this fic deals with childhood sexual abuse, so, please, proceed with caution and be mindful of the warnings.
I think one of the best compliments you can pay to a story that deals with difficult topics is to say that, no matter how heavy it gets, it touches places of warmth and tenderness within you. As if somewhere in the horror there is a heartbreaking beauty. That's exactly what this fic does to us, the readers. It reminds me of Lolita, one of my favorite novels, if it was told from her perspective and not HH's. While it's horrible to witness what happens to Carol and learn what happened to Daryl, it's a relief and a comfort to see them finding each other and becoming a source of love and security for each other. It's caryl at it's finest in a very different and interesting AU. This fic is extremely well-written and there are moments of beautiful prose. Finally, as a mental health professional, I can say that the characterization of our beloved characters as victims of abuse is very realistic. I hope you enjoy this story for all it has the offer: the horror and the love. If you decide to give this a try, dear fellow caryler, don't forget to leave a nice review to our author, ok? I haven't said this in a while, but feedback is love, and love keeps a fandom alive. Caryl on!

🔥 First porn of 2024, FINALLY! To make up for how I neglected all of you fellow carylers, please enjoy a 7 chapters full of glorious smut! 🔥 7 Times Daryl Got Lucky, written by @lamportb is posted on 9Lives and on AO3. Summary: Daryl has not lead a charmed life with the ladies prior to the turn. Carol is there to fix that. Rated: E/ Explicit Word count: 18.745 (07 chapters) Published: March 15, 2015 - COMPLETE I adore this fic! Besides the hot sex scenes, it gives us complete moments of Carol and Daryl relationship and how it evolves over the chapters. There's fluff and romance, but also angst and drama. They have fun together but also comfort each other in authentic caryl fashion. Perfect fic for a friday night. Please don't forget to take a cold shower after leaving a nice review for our author. WIP Saturday - Caryl Fanfiction Rec
Oh, dear fellow caryler, what a happy week! I confess I cried a little bit yesterday because I'm just so fucking happy. I can't express how glad I am that Melissa decided to come back to us.
I trust her to do everything that is in her power to give Carol her happy ending. And we all know that it's Daryl. They are each other's home. They are each other's future and destiny. There's no feasible way for their story to end as anything else. So, yes, I'm hopeful, and after all this time?, hope feels damn good! Melissa/Carol returning also means our fandom is once again alive (we do have 9 lives) so what better day than WIP saturday to celebrate it, right?
Today I selected an incredible WIP written by one of my favorite caryl authors: @silversundown2. Dear Silver, you know I'm a fan of your work. This is my way of sending a little love to you, sharing a little of my hopeful vibes, and getting new people to read your WIP. I hope one day these versions of Carol and Daryl get their happy ending too.
The Forgotten, written by Silver, is posted on 9Lives and AO3.
Summary: All that matters to Daryl is securing his next bottle of insulin, at least until he finds a woman in the middle of the road covered in dirt and bleeding a river. Taking her to the hospital is just being decent but she ain't his problem and helping her unravel the truth of what happened isn't either.
Rating: E / Explicit
Chapters: 20 of ?
Word count: 85499
Published: December 06, 2022 - WIP
Silver is the kind of fanfic writer that can imagine and write the most amazing and unusual AUs (she even sent our beloveds to outer space once on Adrift) while staying true to canon characterization. every. single. time. The Forgotten is no exception to this rule. If you're not following this WIP, I honestly encourage you. Daryl and Carol deal with very real-life issues, some of them we're used to read on caryl fics (domestic violence), others not so much (US health care system) which makes this story refreshing and interesting. And you can trust Silver to deliver hurt/comfort and sweet romance as no one else.
Please, give The Forgotten a try. Leave a review while you're at it to feed our author's muse. Nothing is better than feedback to keep a fandom going.
And, don't forget, tomorrow it's your turn to rec a fic you love! Send me an ask with your recs and I'll be sure to post them. I'm counting on you to keep the positivity and joy flowing! Melissa is back! Carol is back! Caryl is coming! CARYL ON!

⭐Your Turn Sunday ⭐
Can I suggest An Ordinary Life by Lamport?
"She’s a wild thing, and Daryl’s always appreciated and respected wild things."
This is a beautiful and bittersweet Caryl one-shot with a heavy dose of Lydia. It takes place not long after the massacre at the end of S9. All three characters are living under Michonne's roof and are trying to adapt to life in Alexandria.
I grew attached to Daryl as a character when I realized he's a trier - someone who'd do anything to keep the people he cares about safe and well. S10 Daryl is the ultimate trier: he's incredibly patient, understanding, and emotionally intelligent. He's the "man of honor" personified in this fic and he's trying *so hard* to make things work. But he's not perfect and his job is made all the more difficult by the fact that both Carol and Lydia are so deeply traumatized.
For me, it's one of the best depictions of the Caryl + Lydia dynamic - every detail and every beat feels true to who they are. And I really love how Lydia is still pretty feral in this fic (I wish she'd retained more of that wildness in the show).
All in all, it's a stellar one-shot. I highly recommend it if you haven't read it already. And even if you have read it, go give it another read!
Thank you for letting me take up space in your inbox! And a big thank you for starting this fic project 💖
First of all, dear notalkingbusiness, you have no idea how happy you made me by sending this rec. It was the first thing I checked when I reached for my phone this morning. I was afraid no one would send a recommendation to kick-start the #your turn sunday tag. So thank you so much for participating, it means the world!
Secondly, WOW! Just wow! An Ordinary Life by @lamportb [ AO3 | 9Lives] is a beautiful, heartwarming and, yet, heartbreaking fic. It was a new story to me - and I don't think I've read anything written by Lamport before, so thanks for presenting me to a new caryl writer - and it's just so quiet, soft and real. I've felt almost like an intruder on Daryl's thoughts and feelings because he felt SO REAL. The way he tries (and you're so right, S10 Daryl's definitely the ultimate trier) and struggles to take care of Lydia and Carol to the very last line of the fic is so palpable that one cannot help but hope he succeeds even in the face of so many pain and grief. It's really, really beautifully written.
Summary: Daryl doesn’t have a hot clue about raising kids. He’s seen Michonne with Jude and RJ, even Aaron with Gracie, but Lydia isn’t really a kid, she’s seventeen, and he sure as shit knows nothing about being a dad to a teenage girl. Rating: T/ Teen Up and Audiences Word count: 2054 Published: November 11, 2019
What an incredible way to end our first week of caryl fics recs! I'm so happy right now, dear fellow caryler, that this little project is working out. I've already selected enough fics to recommend for another two months, but, again, this project is for all of us! So, please, if you want to recommend a fanfic to our tumblr community, just send me an ask or DM and I'll help you to share the love (you don't have to identify yourself, it can be an anonymous rec if makes you more comfortable). Thank you all so much for the support so far. And, again, thanks nottalkingbusiness for the incredible rec. Caryl on!

One-Shot Monday - Caryl Fanfiction Rec
Third week in and I'm slowly realizing that I've got a "type" for caryl fics because I keep choosing quiet and sweet "lost moment" stories with just enough angst. For me, there's something truly beautiful on Daryl and Carol finding solace on each other, how they've built their bond of love and trust because of - and despite of - their burdens and traumas. It's why I ship them so hard..and it's translating on this project LOL I pinky promise I'll select more fluff stories on the future.
However, this monday, let me fill your hearts with just a little bit more of hurt/comfort with This Night, written by the amazing sweettooth7 and posted on 9Lives and FF.net.
Summary: His voice was gentle with the exhaustion that cloaked the end of this day. His eyes met hers, steady and seemingly in an attempt to reassure her of their safety in this new place they’d found.
He wasn't taking watch tonight, and she was terrified to sleep alone.
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences Word count: 1021 Published: April 06, 2020
It's beautifully (sad, but beautiful) written and the first work sweettooth7 shared with us since 2016. Here's Carol and Daryl somewhere between S2 and S3, and we, the readers, are treated to a glimpse into the foundation of their relationship. They'd just begun and the signals of their silent love and profound trust love were already there.
Hope you enjoy this rec as much as I do. And, if you do, please, consider leaving a review to the author - either long and detailed or a short and honest "thank you", I'm sure it will be appreciated. 2023 October promises to be a good month to be a caryler so, you know the drill, caryl on!

AU Thursday - Caryl Fanfiction Rec
AU day is here! And to prove to myself you, dear caryler, that I can rec a fluffy/comedy fic, I've gone all the way and selected an High School AU for today! 🥰 Because nothing gets more fluffier than teen!Daryl and teen!Carol falling in love on their own 80's high school dream..it just doesn't. 🥰
The Sunny Side of You & Me written by @stephanooch is posted both on AO3 and 9Lives and I promise it will melt your heart and give you cavities altogether.
Summary: Her body slammed into something sturdy but soft. Smoke and gasoline filled her nose as she pulled away from the figure. She barely looked at him, not even registering his grunt as she tried to propel herself off him in a hurried fluster to continue down the hall to homeroom.
A wild High School AU Caryl fic based on every John Hughes movie you've ever loved.
Rating: T / Teen and Up Audiences
Word count: 38005
Chapters: 16
Published: April 24, 2015 - COMPLETE
This is just that kind of story that you read in one sitting. It's happy and warm just like a favorite comfort romcom. It has tons of references for the 80's nostalgics and enthusiasts. It has never-ending love symbols like stars and M&Ms. It has big brother Merle sticking his nose where it doesn't belong and creating necessary angst because we always need a cup of that. It has a big dance in the end. And, if you're still not convinced to give this fic a try...It has teen!Gleen!!! *screaming crying throwing up*
Go on, give it a read. While you're at it, give back some love to the author by writing a nice review or just hitting that kudos button. It's always nice to know that something you wrote years prior still causes joy. Caryling on!
