I'm so happy to have a chance to showcase my new backpack and actually get out and use it today. It leads me to say many things. So what do I look like when I'm out and about and in my usual hiking and Woodsman role? Well, that role is pretty much a lifestyle for me. This picture accurately sums up all of the characteristics you'll find with me. In fact, let's go into a little detail about my usual wardrobe choices. Just about any time in the spring, fall, and winter you'll find me wearing functional wool pants #weatherwool or something similar. Buffalo plaid has always been a favorite of mine and you'll find it scattered throughout my wardrobe. Hats, always wearing a hat. Whether it's a Duluth wool, #askovfinlayson North, my black Amish knit cap, or my newest favorite for the cool temps, an #organicclimbing cap. Then there's my Dollywood handmade hat that my wife got for me, or a lightweight Tilley hat with Brim in the summer. Practically all of these are usa-made products, tilley being made in Canada. Utility. Function. Traditional yet classic that never wears out. Super shout out to my brother @ruthworkssf for this absolutely sick backpack that he custom made for me with all the specs that I wanted. The quality far exceeded anything that I could have dreamed of. To think that a rugged bushcrafter type backpack such as this was crafted in San Francisco on the west coast! Speaks volumes about the variety of characters that we work with each day the potential of each of these Craftsman and builders! The @carsickdesigns Designs Time Traveller hip pack hasn’t left my side since it arrived. Ive used this thing everyday....biking, hiking, working on the van, motorbiking and pretty much any other active pursuit. As with all @carsickdesigns products, it’s extremely well made and has kept my phone/camera dry in heavy rain. It’s super comfortable and fully adjustable ( I took it on a long run on Xmas day and it sat securely on my hip throughout ). A bit on the chilly side today but I still got out for close to 3 hours. Halfway down a pipeline, I noticed that the trail quickly disappeared. It appears that the Beavers claimed their own area. It will soon be time to change the stem on my beloved Bianchi. It's time to get something solid in place. This is my go-to bicycle for any type of riding whether it's on back roads, paved, or old dirt roads. It even goes on Trails on occasion. It recently got a upgrade to a rivet saddle that I was able to pick up at the Philly Bike Expo this past weekend. Right now I'm using a Axiom Mondo Saddleback, only because it gives me the option of holding a third huge water bottle. So I have to figure a work-around solution for caring more water. Finally had a chance to take out the #salsaWoodsmoke 27.5 for a spin in the woods. It felt great. I hope to get some more fitness under my belt and give it a really good try once the spring rolls in and the weather warms up. I want to give a big thank you to @salsacycles and a thank you @freezethawcycles for tuning up my rig! Looking forward to stopping down and dropping off some patches to the crew at Feeze Thaw Cycles next week. I feel like I could be a NASCAR driver right now. I want to throw big thanks out to @ruthworkssf for seat bag @wanderlustgear for top tube bag @carsickdesigns for fork bag that i rigged up on the suspension fork.
