2023's StEx Appreciation Month!

Day 18: Cabs the Brake Van

Ahhh, Cabsy-Cabs....how I despised him when I first joined the fandom. I like to think I've come around, though! ^^

Can we hear about the Las Vegas Greasedinah kid and Carriebee?

Yessir!

Let's start with Carriebee

Mindy! Her real name is actually Madeline but everyone calls her Mindy because she just prefers that.

Mindy is a small mail truck with dirty blond hair and green eyes.

*(I don't think that the fankid has to actually has to be like the parents in one way or the other just similar. In Freight a mail truck is said to be a coach but since it moves things not people I think it is also kinda a freight, thus being a mix of Carrie and Caboose)

Mindy is quite reckless and hyper. From a young age she just did things that she wanted to do without any sort of natural fear. For instance, when was a toddler-train she climbed up onto the fridge because she wanted some cheerios (gave Carrie a heartattack but Caboose was almost impressed)

She typically gets what she wants one way or another. Carrie and Caboose try not to completely spoil her but she often outsmarts other people. For instance, if her auntie Dinah won't give her another cookie she can just get two more from her uncle Greaseball if she plays her cards right(acting like she is going to cry or just being cute)

I typically see her as maybe about 7 or 8ish maybe even 10. She hangs out with Rusty and Pearl's kid as well as Dinah and Greaseball's children.

Mindy loves her parents a lot and especially likes it when they read her bedtime stories and tell her goodnight. She insist that both of them are there so that they can each read her a story.

She is aware that something happened when her dad was in the racing game and that he was partially to blame for "The Great Crash" as it is called as well as knowing the he had helped her uncle Greaseball in his racing days but she doesn't know ALL the details like many of the other trainlets in the yard

Mindy enjoys spending time with her aunties and uncles (the coaches and the freight, as well as Rusty, Electra and Greaseball). She never says it be she does have favorites. Those favorites being Rusty, Dustin and Belle

She does go to school for the young rolling stock (Starlight Elementary??) and right now she doesn't really study anything to be a mail truck because she is too young. Right now she is just learning basic things along with the other trainlets

NOW GREASEDINAH, THESE TWO JUST DO NOT QUIT

~So, they first have one boy then one boy again then Greaseball said lets try for a girl then they end up with triplets. Now let's unpack this shall we?

When they first found out that Dinah was pregnant they were both a bit uneasy about it, seeing that it was right after the events of the race (as it turns out Dinah was pregnant during the race and didn't know). Greaseball was very worried that something had happened to the trainlet because of everything that had happened around that time. The trainlet was born early and was the smallest diesel that the yard had ever seen. This was Greaseball Jr.! It was actually Dinah's idea to name him this but Greaseball gave him a double name too which was Greaseball-Jackson but nobody really refers to him by that.

He is a passenger engine and can be a shunter. He has black hair with blond ruts that he sometimes dyes. He has blue eyes and wears a uniform very similar to Greaseball's

Even though he was born early thus being smaller he grew up to be anything but little. I mostly see him in his teen to young adult years like between 17-19 years old and he is only a little bit shorter than his dad

He does like working-out and racing but is not dead set on making it his career. He enjoys being a shunter but does let Greaseball coach him on racing too, just to keep on open mind about his options.

Greaseball Jr. is pretty responsible and level headed. He takes very good care of his younger siblings and often talks to Dinah when he has a problem with something or someone.

He is called Junior by his family but most people in the yard call him little GB or just G to try to separate him from his father. He doesn't really mind being called Greaseball but he wants to make sure he has a different identity then his dad.

He is a complete momma's boy! Growing up he never ever left Dinah and would have to be pried off her kicking and screaming if anyone tried to separate him from Dinah. He eventually grew out of it but still stuck by Dinah constantly but just without the same meltdowns if he couldn't be with her.

~Their second son is Dallas

Dallas is a very large diesel engine. Like from a very young age he was pretty big. In fact people though that Dinah was having twins or triplets but nope, it was just Dallas. Dallas has dirty blond hair and blue eyes.

Dallas was born a couple years after Greaseball Jr. because Greaseball and Dinah wanted to make sure everything was stable before they had more children. I have Dallas' age set at around 14-16 ish and when he was born there were other trainlets that were already born in the yard.

Dallas is very much like Greaseball. He is quite popular with the others his age and he can be a little bit cocky. It is his dream to become champion just like his dad was once which scares Greaseball a bit because he sees a little too much of himself in his son and is worried that he'll end up down the same road he went down.

Dallas is also much like Greaseball in that he is a bit more aggressive. He often seems to forget that his younger siblings are little and younger and would often get upset at them for bothering him or annoying him or just not doing what he wants them to do. Greaseball talks to him a lot about his behavior and is often subconsciously hard on him because of it. (Hes just worried abt his boy)

~Now the girls

Greaseball said one more girl and got three. Dinah wanted one coach and got 2. At first, they both thought it was another Dallas situation or the possibility of twins but were quite shocked to find out they were having triplets.

The oldest is Wynona, a snack car, then Dixie a diesel engine and finally the youngest Katie a milk car. Wynona has black hair and blue eyes, Katie has blonde hair and green eyes and Dixie has black hair with blonde streaks and blue eyes. I see them to be much younger then GB Jr. and Dallas, so they are between 3 and 5 years old.

All of the girls love Greaseball so so SO much. They like to go to work with him when he lets them come with him. They are all daddy's girls and hate to be away from Greaseball. They would cry and cry being put to bed unless Greaseball read them a story or nursery rhymes until they feel asleep (this made Greaseball fall asleep too)

Dixie, being the only engine out of the three of them is especially attached to Greaseball. She wants to be as strong as him and often tries to lift things that weight more than her (Greaseball always stops her before she can really hurt herself) just because she really wants to be strong like her dad. She tries to act though too just like she sees her dad to be but she is the clingiest out of the triplets and always want to be picked up or to have her hand held.

Katie is very mellow and often sleepy. Other then being with her other 2 sisters and her dad, she is comfortable with her uncles Caboose and Rusty as well as the gang but is weary of Electra for no apparent reason. Some days she is ok being picked up by him and would sometimes follow him around but other days if he asks to pick her up she just shakes her head. She is like this with most people but especially with Electra. She has admitted the Greaseball Jr. is her favorite brother and he lets her look at and play with his medals and trophies(he has won some junior races and tournaments already).

Wynona is the most talkative one even though none of them really speak coherently yet. Everyday she likes to tell Dinah and Greaseball about her day and may fall asleep while doing so because she tried herself out talking. She and Dallas argue like typical siblings, but he is the first one that she goes to if someone is mean to her. Wynona often hangs out with her auntie Buffy and they have a lot of tea parties together. Buffy sometimes gives Wynona some of the pastries and teas that Bobo sends her too. Wynona likes to "help" Dinah in the kitchen sometimes so she can seek little snacks here and there

Day 8: Carrie!!!

Fave actors: Ida Swann, Sydnie Christmas (idrk a lot of Carrie actors like that)

Favorite songs/scenes: uhh that one time in Pumping Iron where she danced with BV. This is hard for me because yknow I'm poor and can't go to Germany all the time

Favorite costume: I like her costume! I kinda wish it wasn't so gray, but it's cute!! Especially her headpiece!

Favorite ship: UHH CARRIEBEE FOR THE WIN! I'm also a fan of Carriebeelektra teehee but really, you should blame @marastriker for my Carriebee love

Headcanon: Total jokester and loves to tease BV at any given point. They love each other, but they love to joke and tease. Also, Carrie's #1 Bestie is Belle the Bar Car and they are almost inseparable at times.

Unpopular opinions: uhhh Ich Bin Ich sucks as an intro song and now I wish I knew more about Carrie

Headcanons:

He is CB’s older cousin who never got along with him one bit. Not that the both of them had anything against each other…Throwing out a bunch of one-liners on him running on the theme of “You’re Stuck With It” happens to be his favorite thing to do. Both of the two also got unexpectedly separated, several months after they were born. 

He has a smooth, sensually stylized "barri-tenor" vocal range, and...boy oh boy...always knows how to use it at the best of times. Mainly, of course, with Rusty if on a "Steam Press"-orineted situation. Think Bruno Mars, but more enhanced. ;)

Unpopular Opinions: 

I would have killed to see a more upbeat, “electro swing” version of the Wide Smile “pre-prise” in the Freight number. Maybe a few too many jazz motifs in BV’s solos may as well be unnecessary. But I think that by cleaning that up to later have the “pre-prise” be in a different musical theme, we can easily have a musical distinction between that, and the full “Wide Smile” number, which will make a bit more sense. (hooo-boy. there goes the music nerd side of my brain talking phdkagk)

Carrie constantly razzes Bee about his tendency to dress horribly just because his clothes are designer. She also wears clothes for the brand but at least she has some style.

OLC! Caboose

Love this funky guy!

Favorite Songs/Moments: C.B. is hands down the funkiest song on the OLC! Album and Michael Staniforth was absolutely incredible!! I also love his verses in Freight, especially the way he says 'Hello!' He sounds like such a goober!

Favorite Costume: I think there's just the one, but I love it! You go Mr. Baseball-Playing-Trucker-Man!

Favorite Ships: I don't actively ship him with anyone but I don't mind OLC! Electraboose

Unpopular opinions: I don't think I have any

CB the Red Caboose

He's just a silly fun-time boy!

Favorite Songs/Moments: Wide Smile, the handshake bit with Electra during Wide Smile, taunting Rusty. There's one boot where he kicks Rusty in the face after crashing him and I don't know why but it's actually so funny (poor Rusty though!) Can we also get some appreciation for Todd Lester's splits! And Hans Johansson's dancing/acrobatics!

Favorite Costume: It's stayed pretty consistent, but why change it when it's already perfect!

Favorite Ships: I don't ship him with anyone, I actually hc him as aromantic (though I am partial to Idiot Sandwich purely for shits and giggles)

Unpopular opinions: I don't like the version of Wide Smile with the pop culture references at the beginning, it just kinda breaks my immersion
