A wave of proposed legislation pushed by Republicans across the US at the state level is aimed at outlawing aspects of sexuality that could have a huge impact on Americans’ private lives and businesses.
Opponents to the laws before legislatures in various states say the planned new legislation could spawn prosecution of breast-pump companies in Texas for nipples on advertising, or a bookstore might be banned from selling romance novels in West Virginia, or South Carolina could imprison standup comics if a risque joke is heard by a young person.
The bills are part of a post-Roe nationwide strategy by the religious wing of the Republican party, now that federal abortion rights have fallen. They range from banning all businesses that sell sex-related goods to anti-drag queen bills. Tyler Dees, an Arkansas state senator who wrote an anti-porn bill said: “I would love to outlaw it all,” referring to porn.
The most prevalent bills relate to age verification of sex-related websites. Seventeen states drafted porn age-verification bills, many inspired by Louisiana’s law that went into effect in January. Louisiana’s law requires websites featuring 33.33% or more pornographic content to check government-issued ID to verify users are 18 and older. Websites that don’t comply face civil penalties. Parents can sue the site if kids access it.
In Texas, a new bill requiring age verification on websites with pornographic content defines images of the female breast “below the top of the areola” as porn, potentially hitting at business advertisements. In West Virginia, a bill outlawing all sexually oriented businesses is on the docket, with a definition that includes art studios with nude models and wrestling arenas. In South Carolina a bill would criminalize using “profane language” related to “sexual or excretory organs or activities” in front of minors during performances. The punishment? Up to a decade in prison.
Some bills define porn so broadly that anatomy textbooks or sex education websites would meet them.
“I don’t think such laws for the internet are constitutional,” said Eugene Volokh, a professor of Law at UCLA.
Laurie Schlegel, a Republican state senator who drafted the Louisiana law, is a sex-addiction therapist educated at Baptist seminary, who opposed transgender students from being on sports teams that align with their gender. Schlegel’s anti-LGBTQ+ views fit with the broader goal of the laws, according to Carolyn Bronstein, a professor of media studies at DePaul University.
“These laws are really not about controlling minors’ access to violent pornography … In the conservative world view, pornography is information about LGBTQ identity, abortion, gay marriage,” said Bronstein.
Eight states have justified their actions by saying that porn is “creating a public health crisis”. Louisiana’s bill claims that pornography “may lead to low self-esteem, body image disorders, an increase in problematic sexual activity at younger ages … impact brain development … shape deviant sexual arousal, and lead to difficulty in forming or maintaining positive, intimate relationships, as well as promoting problematic or harmful sexual behaviors and addiction.”
Historian Whitney Strub, an associate professor of history at Rutgers University, doesn’t think these ideas are well-founded. “Framing pornography as a public health crisis is not driven by serious engagement with the social scientific literature,” he said. “They’ve even got fake peer-reviewed journals that give the imprimatur of scholarship … It’s been a very smart rebranding of evangelical Christian conservatism.”
Why are all these bills being proposed now? Strub thinks it’s partly because of the overturning of Roe v Wade. “Abortion gave a certain coherence to conservative politics in the United States. And it certainly still does … but they’re in the position of Ahab if he slayed the white whale … I mean, there’s no more Moby-Dick.”
There is hypocrisy on display also.
In many of the states where the anti-porn bills are being put forth, minors can legally have sex and get married. “In Louisiana, you can have sex when you’re 17 with a person in their 30s, but you can’t watch porn,” said Jason Kelley, associate director of digital strategy for the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
In Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana, the age of consent is 16. With parental permission, Mississippi allows 15-year-olds to marry, Louisiana 16-year-olds, Arkansas 17-year-olds, and West Virginia kids of any age.
Dees, who wrote Arkansas’s age verification bill, a copycat of Louisiana’s, said porn causes depression and anxiety, divorce and “permissive sexual attitudes” and infidelity. “When I think about the children … I want to protect their innocence,” Dees said.
Strub said this is an old trope: “The political figure of the innocent and imperiled child just has a never-ending purchase on American politics … [it] essentially shuts down debate because it immediately creates a binary in which anybody who disagrees with you is [a] perverted groomer.”
Dees is also the co-author of anti-drag queen legislation in Arkansas, that classifies drag performances as the same category as pornography. “It’s not really a meaningful distinction to [conservatives]. They’re both sexual degeneracy in its different guises,” Strub said.
Dees claimed that his porn verification law “doesn’t have anything to do with any political messaging. It has to do with exposure to material that is harmful, period … There’s a clear enemy in the smut-peddling garbage that’s online.”
But measures already exist to prevent children accessing porn. “There’s a really easy way to keep kids from accessing adult content. And that’s a device-level filter” on mobile phones that block adult websites that are registered as Restricted to Adults, said Mike Stabile of the Free Speech Coalition, which advocates for the rights of sex workers.
These laws, according to Stabile, aren’t going to stop kids from looking at porn. “Even if they were to block all sites, you’re still going to have adult content on Twitter and Reddit … kids will get VPNs,” he said.
Stabile thinks we’ll see up to two dozen age-verification bills introduced by the end of the year.
Dees hopes he is right and has eyes beyond the state level eventually. “My prayer is that enough states continue to push for this measure, and that we send a loud enough message where federal law can be put into place,” he said.

Top 5 Sci-Fi Movies on Netflix
5. Predestination (2014)
Genre: Science Fiction, Thriller
Actor: Alicia Pavlis, Annabelle Norman, Arielle O’Neill, Ben Prendergast, Carolyn Shakespeare-Allen, Cate Wolfe, Christopher Bunworth, Christopher Kirby, Christopher Sommers, Christopher Stollery, Dennis Coard, Dick York, Elise Jansen, Eliza D’Souza, Eliza Matengu, Ethan Hawke, Felicity Steel, Finegan Sampson, Freya Stafford, Giordano Gangl, Grant Piro, Hayley Butcher, Jim Knobeloch, Katie Avram, Kristie Jandric, Kuni Hashimoto, Lucinda Armstrong Hall, Madeleine West, Maja Sarosiek, Marky Lee Campbell, Milla Simmonds, Monique Heath, Noah Taylor, Noel Herriman, Olivia Sprague, Paul Moder, Raj Sidhu, Rob Jenkins, Sara El-Yafi, Sarah Snook, Sophie Cusworth, Tony Nikolakopoulos, Tyler Coppin, Vanessa Crouch
Director: Michael Spierig, Peter Spierig, The Spierig Brothers
Rating: R
One of the most original time-travel thrillers since 12 Monkeys. A brilliant subversion of the Time Paradox trope, with enough plot twists to keep you entertained until well after the movie is finished. Predestination is an amazing movie with great performances from Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook. It’s a movie that will feel like Inception, when it comes to messing with your mind and barely anyone has heard of it. It is highly underrated and unknown, sadly.
4. Train to Busan (2016)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Horror, Science Fiction, Thriller
Actor: Ahn So-hee, An So-hee, Baek Seung-hwan, Cha Chung-hwa, Chang-hwan Kim, Choi Gwi-hwa, Choi Woo-shik, Choi Woo-sung, Dong-seok Ma, Eui-sung Kim, Gong Yoo, Han Ji-eun, Han Sung-soo, Jang Hyuk-jin, Jeong Seok-yong, Jung Seok-yong, Jung Young-ki, Jung Yu-mi, Kim Chang-hwan, Kim Eui-sung, Kim Jae-rok, Kim Joo-heon, Kim Ju-hun, Kim Keum-soon, Kim Soo-ahn, Kim Soo-an, Kim Su-an, Kim Won-Jin, Lee Joo-sil, Lee Joong-ok, Ma Dong-seok, Park Myung-shin, Sang-ho Yeon, Seok-yong Jeong, Shim Eun-kyung, Sohee, Soo-an Kim, Soo-jung Ye, Terri Doty, Woo Do-im, Woo-sik Choi, Ye Soo-jung, Yeon Sang-ho, Yoo Gong, Yu-mi Jeong, Yu-mi Jung

A zombie virus breaks out and catches up with a father as he is taking his daughter from Seoul to Busan, South Korea’s second-largest city. Watch them trying to survive to reach their destination, a purported safe zone.
The acting is spot-on; the set pieces are particularly well choreographed. You’ll care about the characters. You’ll feel for the father as he struggles to keep his humanity in the bleakest of scenarios.
It’s a refreshingly thrilling disaster movie, a perfect specimen of the genre.
3. Serenity (2005)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Science Fiction, Thriller
Actor: Adam Baldwin, Alan Tudyk, Carrie ‘CeCe’ Cline, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Colin Patrick Lynch, David Krumholtz, Demetra Raven, Dennis Keiffer, Elaine Mani Lee, Erik Weiner, Gina Torres, Glenn Howerton, Hunter Ansley Wryn, Jessica Huang, Jewel Staite, Linda Wang, Logan O’Brien, Marcus Young, Mark Winn, Marley McClean, Matt McColm, Michael Hitchcock, Morena Baccarin, Nathan Fillion, Nectar Rose, Neil Patrick Harris, Peter James Smith, Rafael Feldman, Rick Williamson, Ron Glass, Ryan Tasz, Sarah Paulson, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, Tamara Taylor, Terrell Tilford, Terrence Hardy Jr., Tristan Jarred, Weston Nathanson, Yan Feldman
Director: Joss Whedon
Rating: PG-13

Serenity is a futuristic sci-fi film that serves as a feature-length continuation of the story-line from the TV program Firefly (2002–2003). The story revolves around the captain (Nathan Fillion) and crew of the titular space vessel that operate as space outlaws, running cargo and smuggling missions throughout the galaxy. They take on a mysterious young psychic girl and her brother, the girl carrying secrets detrimental to the intergalactic government, and soon find themselves being hunted by a nefarious assassin (Chiwetel Ejiofor). The first feature-length film from Joss Whedon (The Avengers), Serenity is a lively and enjoyable adventure, replete with large-scale action sequences, strong characterizations and just the right touch of wry humor. An enjoyable viewing experience that stands alone without demanding that you have familiarity with the original program beforehand.
2. Sorry to Bother You (2018)
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Science Fiction
Actor: Armie Hammer, Danny Glover, David Cross, Ed Moy, Forest Whitaker, James D. Weston II, Jermaine Fowler, John Ozuna, Kate Berlant, Lakeith Stanfield, Lily James, Marcella Bragio, Michael X. Sommers, Molly Brady, Omari Hardwick, Patton Oswalt, Robert Longstreet, Rosario Dawson, Steven Yeun, Teresa Navarro, Terry Crews, Tessa Thompson, Tom Woodruff Jr., Tony Toste, W. Kamau Bell
Director: Boots Riley
In the year of the Netflix TV Show Maniac, another absurdist title stole critics’ hearts. Sorry to Bother You is a movie set in an alternate reality, where capitalism and greed are accentuated. Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta) is a guy called Cassius who struggles to pay his bills. However, when at a tele-marketing job an old-timer tells him to use a “white voice”, he starts moving up the ranks of his bizarre society. A really smart movie that will be mostly enjoyed by those who watch it for its entertaining value, and not so much for its commentary. It is like a Black Mirror episode stretched into a movie.
1. Ex Machina (2015)
Genre: Drama, Science Fiction
Actor: Alex Garland, Alicia Vikander, Chelsea Li, Claire Selby, Corey Johnson, Domhnall Gleeson, Elina Alminas, Gana Bayarsaikhan, Oscar Isaac, Sonoya Mizuno, Symara A. Templeman, Symara Templeman, Tiffany Pisani
Director: Alex Garland
Rating: R

Ex Machina is the directorial debut of Alex Garland, the writer of 28 Days Later (and 28 Weeks Later). It tells the story of Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson from About Time), an IT developer who is invited by a billionaire CEO to participate in a groundbreaking experiment — administering a Turing test to a humanoid robot called Ava (Alicia Vikander). Meeting the robot with feelings of superiority at first, questions of trust and ethics soon collide with the protagonist’s personal views. While this dazzling film does not rely on them, the visual effects and the overall look-feel of Ex Machina are absolutely stunning and were rightly picked for an Academy Award. They make Ex Machina feel just as casually futuristic as the equally stylish Her and, like Joaquin Phoenix, Gleeson aka Caleb must confront the feelings he develops towards a machine, despite his full awareness that ‘she’ is just that. This is possibly as close to Kubrick as anyone got in the 21st century. Ex Machina is clever, thrilling, and packed with engaging ideas.

thinking about unpopular characters in cm and whenever there's a woman or poc in cm, they're written off without no or little explanation or killed off but if it's a white guy who's unpopular, they get to stay as long as they want. Explains why Tyler is now a series regular and Kevin got to stay for so many seasons while Stephen, Phil, Krystal, Maeve, Haley and Strauss are killed off
Were Stephen and Phil even particularly unpopular/disliked when they were on? All Stephen did was his job and Phil was so Just There. (But at the same time, he was a Black man that showed genuine romantic interest in Garcia and wanted to treat her right and take care of her and of course we can't have that, no no, we need a white demon to hurt her because that's mOrE iNtErEsTiNg 😒🙄)
Oh, and don't forget Carolyn Baker, Rossi's first wife. She was killed off before I even got a real chance to get really attached to her, which is SO rude. Honestly, I was SHOCKED when it was announced that Hotch and Beth broke up so she could go to Hong Kong instead of finding out she got killed by a fucking axe murderer or something equally horrifying and that is Not Good because that says A LOT about how lazy the writers room is with women like WOO.
Krystall, Erin, Haley, and Maeve's deaths were so tragic and for what? Angst and drama? Don't these writers ever get tired of it?
Y'know, I really appreciated when they didn't kill off Savannah and Lisa because I was like "DO NOT KILL DEREK'S GIRLFRIEND AND BABY. DO NO- Jesus, thank you." "Y'all JUST offed Phil, you cannot- Thank you." and that is... Deeply upsetting and concerning to me.

My reactions as I watch 16.9 (I know I'm gonna hate this but here we go)
Also: I realized right before the start of this episode that I get to cross "Penelope calls Luke a nickname" off my Garvez bingo card because of "my liege," so you know what? A win is a win.
One minute in and I'm already on the verge of tears because of Krystall. But at least I'm also crossing "flashback to the missing time between seasons" off my bingo card!
Emily you have no right to look that gorgeous in this sad of a scene
Scratch that I'm not on the verge of tears, I'm actually crying. "I couldn't watch them put the coffin in the ground" GODDAMMIT
"Do you think she'll forgive me?" IT IS TOO FUCKING EARLY IN THE MORNING TO BE CRYING THIS HARD
Have we... ever seen Rossi cry before? Like, I know he was sad when Carolyn died, but did he cry? Because how hard he's crying right now is tearing my heart to absolute shreds.
"His name is agent David Rossi" Elias: FUCK that's not good
How tf is he gonna spin that Rossi is dangerous????
Tara you look stunning and I adore you
OH FUCK VOIT IS RIGHT THERE
Oh god another flashback... am I ready for this?
May 2022... and an Al-Anon meeting? Who????
Oh my god, this is how Tara and Rebecca met? And they have almost identical backstories, that's really heartbreaking.
"I have to work on myself first." Did you do that, Rebecca? How well did it work for you?
Tara and Rebecca's first-ever interaction was kind of adorable ngl
Tara, babes, did YOU of all people automatically assume her ex was a man? You, a pansexual? Who has canonically dated men and women in the past?
Rebecca standing up for the BAU??? I love to see it
Bless you, Emily, for giving Tara and Rebecca the time to talk alone
Rebecca's moving to Sacramento and I'm crying again because I just want Tara to be happy. (Tara please go cry to Luke so I can get some Platonic TarVez moments and then go make out with Emily, please I beg)
"Goodbye, darling." OUCH. WHAT THE FUCK. THAT WAS BRUTAL.
I'm actually really liking this episode so far, I'm sure that won't last though.
Sicarius saying "I've read every single one of your books" is probably going to mess with Rossi for a bit, especially since we know because of the original series that Gideon warned him something like this could happen, that Rossi was essentially writing manuals on how to get away with it.
The way he mentioned acid, which is the stuff in the last kill kit. I wonder if Sicarius is intentionally giving things away or if he doesn't know how much they know
Okay the fact that Sicarius is sometimes pulling inspiration directly from Rossi's books is going to haunt him
"Every time you write one of these books you have to be careful how much detail you include, because if you're not careful... you're giving a wannabe killer rules for killing." DID I NOT JUST SAY
"I'd almost feel sorry for that poor son of a bitch. Almost." Unpopular opinion: I love David Rossi
Sicarius mentioning Rossi's wives is gonna fuck with him
I wanna know what it is that Elias gave Rossi to "prove" he's not Sicarius
Every time Luke and Penelope are together in a frame, even if it's just for 2 seconds, I hold on to it because I need Garvez crumbs in my life
Penelope why did you LOOK OVER AT LUKE when JJ mentioned Tyler Green??????
GARCIA I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU BRING GREEN INTO THIS WHILE YOU ARE STANDING RIGHT BESIDE THE MAN WHO'S BEEN IN LOVE WITH FOR SEVEN YEARS I'M GONNA SCREAM
GODDAMMIT
The fact that Will brought in Tyler Green has me imagining that phone call from JJ, and even though JJ doesn't know everything, it's kinda funny with the context. Kinda.
I am really dreading this scene though.
Ngl that "Alvez and I" both broke my heart (bc she's not calling him "Luke") and made it soar (bc I'm taking CRUMBS)
Well, FUCK. Either Tyler Green can't identify him... or Sicarius has something on him to prevent him from identifying him. Maybe the rest of his family, like Alison's kid... or maybe Garcia? (I really want Green to be a bad dude)
The looks Luke just gave between Garcia and Green... I'm sure he's figuring it out.
Wow, Luke actually getting more than a line at once? I didn't realize the CME writers knew how to do that past the first two episodes (/s)
This little showdown between Luke and Green... I'm kind of here for it
Nooooooooooooooo Garcia do not talk to him alone, I don't want to see this!
Okay, Luke totally knows. The hatred/anger/jealousy is RADIATING off him when he looks at Green. Even when he looked at Garcia as he left. God, I hate this. If the last flashback does actually end up being the Garvez date... I'm gonna cry
"Luke is blunt, but he's not off-target" YES!!! DEFEND YOUR MAN!!!
TYLER GREEN LET GO OF HER HAND I DO NOT WANT YOU HERE
My heart is POUNDING right now, I'm so worried
Okay, I will admit, Elias is spinning a really convincing story
OH GOD DID GARCIA SEND ROSSI A VOICE MEMO MEANT FOR GREEN????
oh god oh god oh god
wait. wait wait. what if Garcia sent that message to Green, who then either made it into a phishing link and sent it to Rossi or he forwarded it to Elias who did that.
TYLER EVIL CANON?????
TYLER GREEN WHAT IN THE EVER-LOVING FUCK ARE YOU DOING WHAT IS HAPPENING?
Wait a goddamn minute... a Tyler flashback?
Tyler Green, what in the actual goddamn hell are you doing?
Oh god, with everything that Elias told his wife, when she sees Rossi in the grocery store aisle, she's gonna freak out
Going back for the alcohol 😂 valid
Rossi I know what you're trying to do, but laying out Sydney's entire life for her is NOT going to make her trust you, it's just going to make her wary of you
HE DID NOT JUST TELL HER SHE'S THE REASON ELIAS IS A SUCCESSFUL KILLER, ROSSI MY DUDE THAT IS FUCKED UP
Oh god are we about to have Luke confront Garcia about seeing Tyler Green? My heart isn't ready. (wait fuck I just remembered that in one of the Garvez ads of social media the caption was "our hearts aren't ready." IS THIS WHAT THEY MEANT???) My heart is POUNDING
"Yikes, you mean it, mean it." LUKE STOP BEING ADORABLE WHEN I KNOW MY HEART IS ABOUT TO BREAK AND SO IS YOURS
Oh god if Luke didn't know before then he definitely knows now. I'm actually shaking.
"We need to talk, you and me." Hanging on to Garvez crumbs even though I know I will be sobbing in the next five minutes
JEALOUS LUKE CANON??? FINALLY???
"Come on, him?" jealous Luke canon and my heart is breaking
"He is marvelous in bed" DID YOU REALLY JUST SAY THAT TO LUKE??? TO LUKE???
Luke trying desperately not to imagine her in bed
"And I need a friend and you're the only one" YEAH AND HE'S ALSO KIND OF YOUR EX, BABES
"Sounds like I'm the last one." OUCH. OUCH. OUCH.
"I just gotta say one thing, all right?" oh god it's gonna be something about them and I'm not okay
"You sure know how to pick 'em." Okay, not what I expected
GARCIA YOU ACTUALLY NEED TO SHUT THE FUCK UP
That scene was ATROCIOUS. But at the same time... weirdly cathartic? I mean it has effectively ruined any hopes I have of Garvez happening, if there were any remaining at all, but at least now I have closure? Sort of?
"Well maybe I am devolving. My career is over, what the hell have I got to lose?" ROSSI WHAT?????? HUH????
Okay, as much as this episode is killing me a bit, I do actually really like it. Like... it's probably the best writing they can do with the shit storylines they've been set up with
Rossi, HOW could you have thought that this was a good idea?
Ooh, and Elias flashback! This is gonna be interesting.
We still have yet to see the third team member flashback, and I'm almost certain it is in fact going to be the Garvez date and I am not ready, but at least I'll have correctly guessed who the three were.
I have to do a separate block of text now, i've written so many notes😂
Look, I know people aren't the biggest fans of Rossi and were kind of upset that we were getting a Rossi-centric episode, but I do not mind. Yes, I'd like a focus on other characters (Luke and Tara) but I still like Rossi.
Okay, so is Tyler Green evil, or is he just hunting down Sicarius to kill him himself? Because if he is evil... I kinda wanna see what happens to Garcia. Who she turns to. Because right now Luke is the only one who really knows everything, and he understandably does not seem like he's in a very comforting mood
Garcia's about to play the message for the entire team and then they're all going to know but it might reveal if Green is actually bad or not. This is giving me flashbacks though to when Scratch cloned Garcia's phone to lure Morgan out.
Lol watch Emily have to suspend Garcia and then the old character who comes back is KEVIN 😂😂😂
EMILY KNOWSSSSSSSSSS
EVERYBODY KNOWSSSSSSSSSSS
(Please give me a Platonic TarVez scene of Tara comforting Luke PLEASE i beg)
Are we about to get our Missing Character Cameo or is it just going to be Will?
"I have to take a leak" "Too bad" did I laugh out loud at this
Elias roasting Rossi about being old is SENDING ME 😂😂😂
Tyler Green what are you doinggggg
Okay so Will and JJ in the field together, I kind of love, but the fact then that since they're obviously sitting beside each other because they're literally married means that GARVEZ Garcia and Luke are sitting beside each other... the tension in that jet must be palpable
TYLER GREEN EVIL CANON???? FR???
Okay so no, I was right, Green is just trying to get to Voit first.
"He looked me right in my face and he lied to me." Garcia, absolutely no one feels bad for you right now.
"Which is what I get for falling for someone with an avoidant attachment style" GIRL YOU'VE KNOWN HIM FOR LIKE 2 WEEKS AND YOU'RE ALREADY SAYING YOU'VE FALLEN FOR HIM???
At least if Garvez is over then Greencia seems to be pretty over too
Luke comforting her anyway... god he really is still in love with her, huh? I mean, this is now how I thought I'd get to cross "she's crying and he comforts her" off my bingo card, but I'll take it
Okay I keep bouncing back and forth on if Green is a bad guy or not
DID ROSSI JUST SPIT IN SICARIUS'S FACE??????????
TYLER GREEN WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK ARE YOU DOING?
GREEN JUST GOT SHOT GODDAMN
Well Greencia's DEFINITELY over now
IT'S THE GARVEZ DATE FLASHBACK AM I READY I THINK THE FUCK NOT
Although this does allow me to cross off "flashback to the Garvez date" off my CME bingo card and "details about their date" off my Garvez bingo card, both things I thought would never happen
Why is it so awkward 😭
Luke is so dressed up I love him
ohh fuck I knew it was Covid that messed them up. Hey, Luke word of advice, don't talk about weird viruses on a first date
"It's not like the world's gonna shut down." well that aged poorly
I hate this I actually hate this why is this so weird
Luke ordering two more glasses of wine for himself I don't whether to laugh or cry. Probably both.
"It felt so good when you asked me out but I'm finding this to be very clunky" @snailsandpuppy-dogtails HOW IN GOD'S FUCKING NAME DID YOU PREDICT THIS ALMOST ENTIRELY IN YOUR TARVEZ BEER FIC
"What were we thinking?" YOU WERE THINKING THAT YOU'RE IN LOVE AND HAVE BEEN FOR YEARS, GODDAMMIT
"Can I share my truth with you?" "When have you ever not" I'M SORRY THAT'S ADORABLE
"I find it very hard to have a conversation with you when I am not dunking on you" that is a LIE. That is a LIE. I have RECEIPTS.
"With us, there absolutely is something there but not that." LIES. LIES. ALL OF IT.
This is making me so upset because there is not an actual world where they would not work out, this is absolute bullshit
"I know that your person is out there" YEAH AND IT'S YOU STFU
"I know that my person is out there" YEAH AND IT'S HIM STFU
"Where?" He desperately wants this to work out and my heart is breaking
"To finding the right person" NO. YOU FOUND THEM. YOU FOUND EACH OTHER. FIRST DATES ARE AWKWARD. IT HAPPENS. WHY WOULD YOU LET THAT STOP FOUR YEARS OF PINING OVER HER????
Why would they show us that scene out of nowhere? Like, Luke and Garcia weren't present before it started and now we're back in the field, it doesn't make a lot of sense.
I know my Garvez hopes should be crushed... but I can't help but think/hope that maybe this is setting up for them to try again
The audacity this episode has to be the most and least Garvez-y
Luke still looking out for Garcia and Green now... and him calling Green "Lieutenant..." the world does not deserve this man
Noooooooooooooo I thought Greencia was over but she's talking about having a future with him 😭😭😭
REBECCA HOLDING TARA'S HAND 😭😭😭
And now they know Rossi's been kidnapped
Overall thoughts? Not bad. I mean I hate how awkward the Garvez date was, and I don't like Greencia, but overall... this wasn't really that bad of an episode.

Working at a Walgreens Pharmacy has taught me that it can be hard sometimes to properly hear a name and how it's spelled. I often have to defer to last names, phone numbers, and dates of birth to make sure I have the right person, because I can't make out what the customer is saying their name is. As a result of this, I've given some thought as to what I want to name my kid to prevent as much confusion as possible. I've devised a few rules to this effect, which I would like to take this time to list for parents-to-be.
1: Do NOT give your kid a name that is frequently spelled in two different ways. Kristen/Christian, Brian/Bryan, and Steven/Stephen are right out.
1a: As a corollary to this, do NOT give your child a common name but spelled weirdly for "uniqueness." No "Aimee"s, no "Ryleigh"s, no "Krystal"s, none of that.
2: Avoid letters that sound like other letters if it needs to be spelled out. 'M' and 'N' can cause SO much confusion over the phone; same with 'B' and 'P'.
2a: There are certain letters which SOUND like other letters in certain contexts; 'HA' sounds an awful lot like 'AJ' when you spell them out. Confusion about which of these you mean will be few and far between, but it's generally safer to avoid these sorts of patterns when possible.
2b: A list of 'safe' letters (letters which don't sound like others in the alphabet, and which it would probably be a good idea to include several of): ILORWY
2c: While the letters above are safe, they don't have many distinctive sounds that one could use as an "anchor" to orient around when parsing a name over bad audio. Try and include at least one hard consonant sound to help the name pop.
2d: Letters with a hard consonant sound: CDGJKPQTXZ. Some are better than others; 'P' and 'Z' can be hard to parse in spelling if they don't come across in the name itself, and 'C' and 'G' only make their hard consonant sounds in certain contexts. Exercise caution.
3: Make the name something fairly common. It should be expected that the person you are speaking to is aware of at least one other person whose name you share.
3a: The Celebrity Corollary. Naming your child after famous characters and celebrities can be a handy way to give your child a unique name, since most of the people they meet can be relied upon to have at least heard the name before. 'Keanu' isn't very common stateside, but we all know our boy Keanu Reeves. Exercise caution, though, as it's entirely possible that said celebrity could get canceled for something. I don't think we have anything to worry about with Keanu, but I've been wrong before.
So, what are some good names with these guidelines? Well fortunately, it's actually a pretty good list. Here's a list of common American names which fit the criteria listed above:
Boy Names:
Alex, Arthur, Edward, Eli, Doug, Carl, Gerald/Gary, Gregory, Jack, Joe, Keith, Kyle, Lawrence/Larry, Rick, Ray, Roger, Roy, Terry, Todd, Tyler, Walt, Will, Zack
Girl Names:
Abigail/Abby, Carolyn/Carol, Gloria, Grace, Jaqueline/Jackie, Joyce, Judy, Kate, Kayla, Kelly, Laura, Liz, Vicky
So if for whatever reason, you want to name your kid according to what's most convenient for the pharmacist to record over the phone, may I suggest using one of these!

Hot Vintage TV Women's Bracket - List of the Ladies!
As promised below is a full list of all 130 women in the Hot Vintage TV Women's Tournament! Thank you to everyone who submitted their favs!
Just a brief bit of cleanup before the list. Thank you for all the submissions. If your submission didn't make it into the bracket or some of your propaganda isn't used know that I still appreciated the submission even if we weren't able to use it. Some things got cut for being outside the bounds of the tournament, some things got cut because the links were broken, etc. Anything I wasn't sure about got brought to family and friends for a second opinion. I did my best to keep as much in as possible but some things just ended up leaning too far outside of our criteria. If you notice some stuff that seems outside the criteria slip by it's because I tried to be very generous so as long as something wasn't obviously outside of our time period or rules I usually gave it a pass.
Anyway, I am working on the bracket as we speak and apologize in advance cause I don't think there's any way to make round 1 completely painless, as you'll see we have a pretty stacked line-up so I'm excited to see how things work out! Enjoy and see you all on Monday April 15th for round one of the Hot Vintage TV Women's Bracket!
